Titles not sharp in Qicktime version
My titles on the time line are sharp but in the quicktime version are unsharp. Any idea?
Be sure you have best quality activated in the QT Player. QT Preferences, it's the third down from the top, "Use high-quality video setting when avaialble."

After I made some ken burn effect to my pictures I exported it to high quality Quick time, for some reason the titles I added are not sharp and clear but blurred at the edges what could be the reason?
Also if I want to make a dvd video, what is the actual action I have to do, should I export it to iDVD to get a dvd quality?Are you using QuickTime Player to play the high quality file you created? Is the file you created self-contained, or a reference file? Try clicking "Use high-quality video settings when available" in QuickTime Player's preferences.
Also, as for the DVD, I prefer to launch iDVD, create a new project, then drag the iMovie project icon (in the finder) to the iDVD project window (make sure you have quit iMovie first). -
Does anyone know why I'm not getting a sharp black title
when putting it over a white matte. The text looks broken up and of poor
quality.

DChoosing san serif fonts helps especially if you're working in DV, and judging the quality in your Canvas window isn't showing you the actual quality of the image... should be viewing this externally on a video monitor, are you?
Also you'll find that DV titles may improve a ton if you simply raise them up or down a line, and you'll see this improvement externally on a video monitor.

Desktop not sharp after installing Solaris 10 8/07 on an Ultra 10
Hi. I just installed the latest version of Solaris 10 on an Ultra10 and noticed that the desktop is not sharp. It's almost as though everything (background, Launch button, windows, etc) is misty. Oddly, the drop down menu displayed with right-click on the desktop is clear and sharp. Likewise, the contents of the Desktop Background Preferences window is OK, but the desktop selections and title bar are misty. If I try to change the resolution, an error is displayed saying 'The XServer does not suport the XRandR extension'.
Any ideas?
Andre.I used to have a similar issue when connecting my computer by DVI instead the classic way.
After applying several updates the issue was gone for Solaris 10, but is still there for SXDE.
I think it has something to do with video card driver. -

I burned my first iDVD andpicture quality is not good. Originals are excellent. My photos are shot in raw or jpeg, both are not sharp when I view my DVD. I viewed it on my 1080 dpi tv and my new apple computer.
There are many ways to produce slide shows using iPhoto, iMovie or iDVD and some limit the number of photos you can use (iDVD has a 99 chapter (slide) limitation).
If what you want is what I want, namely to be able to use high resolution photos (even 300 dpi tiff files), to pan and zoom individual photos, use a variety of transitions, to add and edit music or commentary, place text exactly where you want it, and to end up with a DVD that looks good on both your Mac and a TV - in other words end up with and end result that does not look like an old fashioned slide show from a projector - you may be interested in how I do it. You don't have to do it my way, but the following may be food for thought!
Firstly you need proper software to assemble the photos, decide on the duration of each, the transitions you want to use, and how to pan and zoom individual photos where required, and add proper titles. For this I use Photo to Movie. You can read about what it can do on their website:

Neither of these are freeware, but are worth the investment if you are going to do a lot of slide shows. Read about them in detail, then decide which one you feel is best suited to your needs.
Once you have timed and arranged and manipulated the photos to your liking in Photo to Movie, it exports the file to iMovie as a DV stream. You can add music in Photo to Movie, but I prefer doing this in iMovie where it is easier to edit. You can now further edit the slide show in iMovie just as you would a movie, including adding other video clips, then send it to iDVD 7, or Toast, for burning.
You will be pleasantly surprised at how professional the results can be!

I am really frustrated that my images look slightly blurred in bridge.
Looks sharp when I open in photoshop, but whenever I see 100% preview in bridge,
image is just not sharp!!!
* I have purged all cache and did a full extraction
* I have checked full monitor size preview
* Check with other image viewing softwares, and found no problem when viewed in 100%
* Waited until bridge loads the image for full view
Is it just me that this happens?do you have thumbnail quality set to High Quality On Demand? do the images get sharper if you just wait a bit to render? what zoom level do you view the images at? what version of Bridge to you use?

Slideshow looks soft and not sharp enough
Slideshow with LR4 for raw and JPG files is not sharp enough (seems a bit soft or appears not enough resolution) when comparing to using ViewNX2 for NEF files or using photo explorer of Windows 7 (with plugin) for DNG files. The same result for a small notebook screen or a 42" 1080P display. Any one can provide help on this? What is your best way to conduct slideshow of raw files for the right resolution that meeting display size? I have set my standard preview size to 2048pixels and medium quality.
How are you are you playing the slideshow (i.e. inside LR using 'Play,' exported PDF or Video) and what type of template are you using? It's best to match the template aspect ratio to the target playback screen aspect ratio. For my 16:9 1920 x1080 monitor I use a custom 'Widescreen Template like this:
My previews are also set to 2048 pixels, medium quality and PDF slideshow exports are sharp. If you read the post I linked to you will see that LR on Windows 7 causes portrait images in the PDF slideshow to have jaggies, which actually appear onscreen as "over-sharpening." I rarely use the LR Slideshow module full-screen 'Play' function, but just checked it for comparison. You are correct, both landscape and portrait images in the LR full-screen slideshow 'Play' mode appear slightly softer than the Slideshow PDF export at 'Screen' resolution and 91 Quality. What is interesting is that there are no "jaggies" in portrait images when using the native LR slideshow 'Play' mode, so the images are being rendered differently than the slideshow 'Export' modes.
IMHO, the slideshow module has become an orphaned stepchild of LR with issues that Adobe has ignored since LR2. For the best possible rendering I'd use 'Export PDF Slideshow' using the target viewing screen resolution and 90+ Quality, but there is this caveat:
LR has at least three different implementation versions, concerning this LR Slideshow Module behavior:
Stroke Border Portrait Images
Mac OS: Causes softness OK (no resample artifacts)
Windows Vista: No issues Resample artifacts (jaggies)
Windows 7: Causes softness Resample artifacts (jaggies)
This was at least the case for LR3.6 and I'm pretty sure LR4.1 has the same issues. -
Exported files not sharp in LR5
Dear community, did you experience something similar? I have been using previous version of LR and never had this problem. Image is not sharp and noise filter doesn't seem to be applied when I do my export. It looks completely different on a Dev Module. Are you aware? Any solution available? Thanks.

Either that or export full-size and resize using external app or export filter / post-process action. It's only the reduced-rez ones that aren't sharpened and/or don't have noise reduction applied.
e.g. you can export via Lr and use Lr/Mogrify to shrink, or shrink via Photoshop droplet...
or you can just use PreviewExporter for your reduce-rez exports.

Raw pictures not sharp in photoshop
when I open a raw file in other programs like "ACDSee" it is sharp. when I open the same picture in photoshop it is not sharp.
Thanks for posting your observations here. You are correct, images viewed in Photoshop Express on Android devices can appear less sharp than when viewed in Gallery. There are reasons for this: performance and available memory. In order to display the image quicker, we are displaying a lower resolution version of the image. This does not effect the actual image though, so if you export the image it will maintain the expected resolution.
We hope to make improvements in this area and are investigating how to optimize this for our next update. -
I assume that no one else has this issue - thumbnails will not show sharp yet enlarged versions fine - but I wonder if one or two of you could confirm that their thumbnails ARE sharp. Especially if you are using Windows 7, which is what I am using for Lightroom.
The reason is that after a long conversation with an Adobe representative at tech support I was assured that unsharp thumbnails were simply a feature of Lightroom and nothing could be done about it. This I simply do not believe; Adobe would have hardly have sold umpteen copies of the program to photographers - typically a discerning crowd when it comes to sharpness - if the thumbnails were inherently fuzzy. I actually purchased Aperture based upon demos I had seen and others' comments. IView Media Pro is my basic working program now but it is slow to import and page between 19+Mb RAW images.
The first thing to strike me with Aperture was the soft image issue we have been discussing. I can't say I know whether IVMP or Bridge actually sharpen the images or if that's the way they come. That would make the issue with Aperture a setting or something. I had already set the program as you suggested.
As you probably know, committiing to a new software for this purpose is a tremendous precious time investment. I confess to having a "right brain" defect that obstructs understanding the basic structure of these programs which is a further impediment. Every such program has its own labels for the structure and organization of the files which isn't always straightforward.

Photoshop to pdf creates text and images that are not sharp. Why?
I know that Photoshop is not the premier pdf creation software. I do have InDesign as well, but I'm much more familiar and comfortable with Photoshop (I have the CC versions of both) so I prefer to use it as my design and layout tool.
However, when I save as a pdf the resultant pdf file is blurry for images and text, not horribly so, but not sharp and clear as I would like. My pdf files are for the web and emailing so I need to keep the file size in check, but even when I up the PS resolution to 300psi it still is not as clear as I would like. Still blurry.
What do you Photoshop experts out there do to produce the sharpest pdf possible? Is it even possible using Photoshop only or do you have to use InDesign or Acrobat Pro to get the clarity and shapness?mabehr1234 wrote:

This is kind of like saying "I know that a screwdriver is the correct tool for inserting screws, but I'm much more comfortable using a hammer, so I prefer to just hammer the screws in."
It works, sort of. But the results will never be as good. And you wouldn't want to use the screwdriver with nails, either. There are two different tool (programs) for a reason, and I think once you learn InDesign, you will find it to be a much better layout tool than Photoshop. -
Struts2 and Tiles2 - Error executing tag: Attribute 'title' not found.
I keep getting Error executing tag: Attribute 'title' not found when I go to the baseLayout.jsp page. I am figuring it is not seeing the tiles.xml file, but I have placed it in the /WEB-INF directory like every web page I have found says too. Any help or pointers would be appreciated.

I downloaded Version 4 and installed it. At no point did it say that it was not compatible with the version of OS X that I am running (10.4.11) now that it is installed it will not open but it has already up graded from 3.6 so I have lost the lot. How can I download a version of 3.6 so that I can use it again or should I just pack up and use Safari as all I can get from your site is version 4. HELP!!!

I want to add another management server to our existing SCOM environment. But whenever I run this setup on a new server I get stuck in the window for selecting the OperationsManager database. The database field stays blank and in the OpsMgrSetupWizard log
there are lines that the setup version is not compatible with the database version. But I use the same installer as when I installed the other management servers a year ago.
Maybe there is a newer setup installer? But I can't find it.
