Titles wipe out all audio

Wow, what an effect. After 10 hours of work, completing an iMovie project and burning several DVD copies, my wife noticed several typos within titles (spanish language). After fixing the errors, I lost all audio - not just with the clips containing titles, but within the WHOLE iMovie project.
What;s going on?

I am by no means an expert but would think that you are just adding the "file", not the playable on and that would convert the iPod into a masstorage device WHICH then would deleate all the musicfiles on it. What you need to do is to download a program to tranform the video file in to a mp4 file and then put it into iTunes and Then load it onto the iPod, that worked for me.

  • Will loading a movie to iPod really wipe out all audio files?

    Hi folks:
In the midst of loading CD collection into Video iPod 80GB. Decided to load a DVD as well and received a warning message that "loading movie will delete all files".
Has anyone seen this? I can't imagine that Apple designed a product that is so un-user-friendly.
Any guidance would be appreciated. By the way, I just learned that I need to convert the DVD format to MP4 - but am reluctant to begin conversion process if loading a movie necessitates deleting all audio files.
    Thanks.

    No. Back it up anyway.

(After my old laptop blew, it won't turn on anymore). I've invested quite a bit of money into my music, and it'd be a bummer if it's all gone to waste.
    Thanks in advance!

Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.

Copy your ENTIRE iTunes FOLDER to an External Drive... and then from the External Drive to your New Computer..
Backup iTunes to an External Drive

An Added Bonus is that you will have a Backup of iTunes.

  • Initial sync of Books will wipe out all music???

I have an iPhone 4 running iOS 4.3, and I'm running the most recent version of iTunes.
In iTunes on the Summary page for my phone, I have "Manually manage music and videos" selected.  I have loaded up my iPhone with about 10 gig of music, which took a lot of time to select, drag and drop over onto the phone in iTunes, etc.
Now I have a PDF that I want to add to my iPhone by adding it to the Books tab, checking 'Sync Books', and moving it onto the phone.  The problem is that when I check 'Sync Books' it warns me that "Are you sure you want to sync Books?  All existing songs, movies, and TV shows on the iPhone will be removed".
I certainly don't want to have my music deleted because then I'll have to re-install it all.
Even though I have "Manually manage my music selected", why is this Book Sync option still trying to delete it?
Is there another way to get a PDF onto the iPhone without syncing it?
    Any help would be appreciated.....
    Thanks,
    John

I manually manage my music because I have about 60 gig of music in iTunes, and only around 10 gig of space on my iPhone.  So I just dragged my most important music onto the iPhone because I don't want to sync all of the music that I have in iTunes.  It won't even fit....
So, now that I've been manually managing my music, what you're saying is that if I turn on the option to sync books it will wipe out my music and I'll have to do it all again?  Obviously you're correct from what I'm seeing with that warning messgage, but that seems absurd to me.  I don't understand why the two settings are not independent of each other.......
    So...........There's no way around this?

With an install CD, you boot from the CD by holding down the C key at startup.  Then go to "drive setup" and format the drive, choosing the option to zero data once.

  • IOS updates - fails *EVERY* single time, completely wipes out all apps

Ok, so I'm trying to be calm and collective about this but it will be extremely hard.
I updated the iOS version on my iPad (v1) today to 5.1.1.  Since I have had troubles every time I've updated iOS (regardless of device iPod, iPad, iPhone) I made 2 separate backups of my iPad before continuing... and specifically DID NOT CLICK on the "Hey there's a software update for your device" when it popped up when I plugged in the device as my very first experience with updating iOS on the iPad was done this way... and the backup failed, and thus never worked on the install.
So my device has 98% charge, I do 2 separate device backups (just in case)... hold my breath, and manually request an iOS update.
Progress goes smoothly, the device reboots, all looks good... no apps
Ok, not to worry, the update likely just gives me a clean image... (plus my wallpaper)... I'll just restore from 1 of my backups....
    Restoring.... Rebooting....
Now its asking me to pick or setup an Apple ID... ok, fine... enter my ID/password.... re-state all my settings for wireless, location settings, iCloud (has always been NO)... and Booted....  STILL NO APPS
Repeated the restore backup process several times with each backup file... no luck... including a few clean reboots just to be sure.
ZIP, Nada, Zilch... All apps, all data, all music, all videos, all games, all game progress... you know... the efforts made over the past 6 months on several "resource management games"... all COMPLETELY GONE!!!
Now I used the feedback option in iTunes to send a similar message directly to them... but shy of a rant here I have no idea what I can do.
If all my data is lost forever... this ABSOLUTELY *****... not just because I lost it right now... but I don't ever want to buy/download another app now... if I know that there is a very, very high probability that I will again completely lose everything in the next iOS update.
So now I seem to have 2 options....
1.) Never update iOS on any device ever again due to fears it will fail and erase everything
2.) Simply shelf the device because I have no faith that I'll be able to maintain the data on it long term
Please tell me there is another option... a manual backup or restore option outside of iTunes.... or a way to look inside a backup file and make sure it really does have all the content you think it should have in it... in it.
I censored myself in this post... but for anyone working at Apple that wants to really understand my "mood" when writing this... insert 2-3 4 letter curse words before every CAPS or bold words... to get an idea of how insanely frustrating this whole process is.

1st off, thanks @turingtest2 I do appreciate your efforts it has helped explain some of this mess.
Well... as much as I'm ashamed to admit it... this does seem to be the case.
So, a "Backup" of an iOS device puts the "settings" back on your PC...
An "OS Upgrade" wipes your device of all content and updates the OS cleanly to the next level
A "Restore from Backup" effectively does next to nothing.... because in order to get all your stuff back... that you "Backed up"... you actually need to re-sync all your Apps, all your music, all your videos etc. manually once your "Backup" is complete.
You also need to figure out which apps were actually on this device because it maintains 1 list per account, not a list per device... thus manual hand picking is required.
Likewise you need to manually re-pick through your music and video collection because these settings too were not "really" backed up.
Seems completely messed up to me that the backup step doesn't save a list of the media (songs/videos) you had on the devices and automatically syncs them when performing a restore.  Ditto for apps.
I'm so glad my non-Apple devices don't follow this crazy 1/2 baked backup/restore scheme.
As a software developer myself... there's no way I'd release software this messed up....

  • When accessing my itunes library of music I get the notation on all songs ...The song could not be located because the origional file could not be found...how can this be corrected or did Apple wipe out all the files

wien I access Itunes I get the notification....the song could not be located because the origional filoe could not be found...I have over 2000
songs in my library ....Does this mean they are all gone....How can one retrieve them???

This missing song thing happens if the file is no longer where iTunes expects to find it. Possible causes are that you or some third party tool has moved, renamed or deleted the file, or that the drive it lives on has had a change of drive letter. It is also possible that iTunes has changed from expecting the files to be in the pre-iTunes 9 layout to post-iTunes 9 layout,or vice-versa, and so is looking in slightly the wrong place.
Select a track with an exclamation mark, use Ctrl-I to get info, then cancel when asked to try to locate the track. Look on the summary tab for the location that iTunes thinks the file should be. Now take a look around your hard drive(s). Hopefully you can locate the track in question. If a section of your library has simply been moved, or a drive letter has changed, it should be possible to reverse the actions.
Alternatively, as long as you can find a location holding the missing files, then you should be able to use my FindTracks script to reconnect them to iTunes .
Once you've sorted out the broken links I've written a script called DeDuper which can help remove unwanted duplicates. See this thread for background.

  • TV Show sync wipes off all audio.

Running iTunes 7.0.1, with a manually managed music library. However I do automatically sync all Podcasts without any issues.
Yesterday I imported some video files and marked them as TV Shows. I then configured iTunes to automatically sync these files, syncing only the ones that hadn't been seen. It did manage to sync them correctly, but only after wiping the entire audio content off my iPod during the process.
I have managed to restore all of my audio content again, but I've lost all playlists in the process.

    Resolved by iTunes update.

  • Why does itunes wipe out all my app groups?

I'm running Windows XP, iTunes 10.4.1.10, iOS 4.3.5.
After restoring my iPod to factory settings, then re-syncing the ipod with the data, music, & apps that was previosuly backed up,
all of the groups I had created for the apps are gone.
I now have to manually create those groups over again.
    Are others seeing this problem?

    What are you talking about?
    Please explain.

I used to be on windows but the computer died.  I got an imac but when I try to buy new contents from the iStore, It threaten to delete all other material I previously purchased?  Does anyone know what I can do, please?

You need to transfer everything from your backup copy of the old computer to the new one.
Ipod touch will sync with only one computer at a time.  When you sync to another it will erase the current content and replace with content from the new computer.
If you have failed to maintain a backup copy ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from the ipod:  Without syncing - File>Transfer Purchases
