Tkprof in oracle9i

Hi,
I am trying to install tkprof. I am using XP and oracle9i. But there is no such exe file even after installation. But I found it after installing9i on linux. Moreover, as far as i know tkprof is not a deprecated feature for 9i
thanks.

On NT as well : not only on unix?
Cannot get hold of tkprof for nt (oarcle9). Full install done.

    Go to your MS dos prompt.
    Find the location where the file ora01572.trc is. It is at that location you will type the following command
    tkprof ora01572.trc output.txt
    hit enter
    the program creates the output.txt file and places the results into the output.txt file for you to read on notepad.
    If you want the Explain plan included then the following must be typed
    tkprof ora01572.trc output.txt explain= username/password

    I don't have tkprof on my server oracle 9i, I have heard that oracle forgot to put this... but Where can I download the patch? (I dont have oracle support to use metalink)

    TKPROF does come with oracle9i . Maybe your environment is not properly set to execute TKPROF from command prompt.
    YOu should have <Oracle_Home>/bin in your system path variable.
    You could check for tkprof.exe in Oracle_Home/bin directory of your Oracle installation.

  • Help to read TKPROF file in correct way

    Hi,
    I need help to understand what is going wrong.
    I have one query executed with different bind variables values.
    Case 1: Execution time is about 7.5 hours when :v6=:v3=:v4 (these are date bind variables values)
    Case 2: Execution time is about 2 minuteswhen :v6 differs from :v3 and :v4, but :v3=:v4 (these are date bind variables values)

    the plans show that your first query has to do much more work than the second query (250M vs. 17M consistent gets). The queries use different plans and the second plan seems to be the better choice - since the first query does not return any rows. The plans also tell us where the time is spent - and there are some nested loops with extreme execution counts and a lot of expansive index access operations (especially the skip scan on P_HOLDINGS), but I would prefer to use a a plan with rowsource statistics to find the errors in the optimizers cardinality estimations.

  • Oracle Designer6i Release 4 and Oracle9i Unable to add user to Repository

    I am currently using Oracle9i with Oracle Designer6i Release 4. Before I am able to use both Release 4 and Release 2 with Oracle9i. However, this time when I install it after a cleanup in my server. I have received the following error message when allowing a user to use repository using RAU:
    Message
    RME-00020: Internal API error - ORA-00600: internal error code, arguments: [25012], [2147483647], [0], [], [], [], [], []
    RME-00011: Operation 'close' on ACTIVITY has failed
    RME-00222: Failed to dispatch operation to Repository
    RME-00224: Failed to close activity

    I had exactly the same error and managed to get rid of it by deinstalling and reinstalling the client and the server with the patch (2083057) from metalink (I had previously used this patch for upgrade). There was no problem with user creation.
    However, I get the same error when I try to do anything with the repository, such as, create an object. So, this is really of no help. Sorry.
    Have you managed to get the installation going????
    Is there anyone who has Designer 6i functioning (even partially) with Oracle 9i on a windows platform, or for that matter any platform??

    While installing Oracle9i release 2 (9.2.0.2.0),on Redhat Linux 3.0 on IA64 itanium processor, Oracle Universal Installer starts and copies some of the files and stops installation at 0% without giving any error.
    After selecting NO to Create Database,OUI install starts, and it has stopped at
    "Installing Java Runtime Environment 1.4.1.0.0" ,
    "Link pending" , "Copying LICENSE".
    Please help me in solving this problem.

  • Error on Install Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3

    When I have installed Oracle9i R2 on RedHat Linux 7.3,I reboot the machine,
    and then write this:
    sqlplus
    SQL> sys /change_on_install as sysdba
    SQL>Connect to Iddle
    SQL>startup
    SQL>sltln:environment variable cannot be evaluated
    What`s the matter?

    Looks like some file that's present in tmp or
    /var/tmp during deployment cannot be overwritten
    because of permissions issue. Please make
    sure you don't have previous installation temp files
    in /var/tmp or /tmp before doing new installation or
    use the same use that installed the first instance.
    You can try cleaning up tmp and /var/tmp and retry.
    Also try setting umask 00 before installations.

  • Problems to install Oracle9i on Linux RH 7.1

    Error message appeared during installation process.
    "Error in involing target install of makefile
    /disk01/app/oracle/products/9.0.1/plsql/lib/ins_plsql.mk"
    Does anybody know what to do?

    The problem may be coming from the binutils verson imcompatible.

  • Oracle9i Enterprise Manager installation Problem on winXP Pro

    While installing CD2 of the Oracle9i Version-9.0.1.1.1 it gives the error that error in copying file on Oracle/Ora90/assistants/dbca/components/Transaction_processing.dfj .
    After this when I skipped this compnent installation and continued further after 100% completion it showed me in GUI that configuration Assistant could not be installed.. And finally showing the window that Oracle9i isntallation was unsuccessful. Please Help.

    Are you sure your installation software is complete and not corrupted? Another possible reason for failure is, target destination has run out of space. Transaction_processing.dfj is one of the predefined seed databases, maybe it cannot be copied because lack of space.

  • Changing the date_format in Oracle9i

    I need to change the date format of my DB Oracle9i .I added the parameter in the initsid.ora file and created the spfile from pfile.Did an oracle shut-start.
    It shows the required format as
    SQL> sho parameter nls_date_for
    NAME                TYPE VALUE
    nls_date_format string DD-MON-YYYY
    But it still shows the old format when i login to the instance.

    I changed the format to 'MM-DD-YYYY' also in the init file and did db shut-start as

    Seems like working fine...:) But
    when i login to instance i stilll get the old format :(

    WHEN THE CODE IS EXECUTED, MICROSOFT OUTLOOK IS OPENED AND THE RECIPIENT LINE, COURTESY COPY LINE, SUBJECT LINE
    AND BODY OF A NEW MESSAGE ARE PREPOPUTATED WITH THESE FIELDS FROM AN ORACLE FORM.
    THIS ROUTINE WORKS FINE ON AN ORACLE6i CLIENT SERVER BUT IT WILL NOT WORK WELL ON AN ORACLE9i CLIENT SERVER.
    WHAT DO I NEED TO DO TO CHANGE MY CODE? DO I NEED TO USE NEW UTILITY LIBRARIES? I WOULD SURE LIKE TO KNOW WHAT TO DO.

    Oracle9i Forms does not support client server - so you are running in a different environment (even though you may still only be onl two tiers).
