TLS enabling on Email Server

Hi
We are planning to use TLS at the email server for authentication. We are using Oracle B2B 10g and in that using 'Custom document over generic exchange' protocol. Is there any other additional setting to be done in B2B for this set up? The TLS is mainly between the mail server of host the TP. A quiick response is required so that we can make a decision.
Thanks in advance.
Regards
Kavitha

Kavitha,
Don't think any additional configuration may be required except enabling SSL at your B2B server and configuring wallets.

  • TLS and Snow Leopard server issues

I have a customer with Snow Leopard server running mail services. A few clients cannot email them due to what we think is a TLS related issue. Their host has TLS enabled for the mail server and they receive the below error message when sending to my customer:
15:27:41.044 3 SMTP-406902(domain.com) failed to establish a secure connection with [xx.xx.xx.xx]:25. Error Code=X509: signature algorithms do not match.
The host that cannot send seems to think it's a Postfix configuration issue but I don't know where to begin. It's not a firewall issue as we've tried that with no success.
Any ideas would be appreciated. Thanks.

You are in the Leopard Server section, better to direct your question to the +Snow Leopard+ Section.

  • The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination.

    OS: OS X Mavericks
    iPhoto: iPhoto v9.5.1 (902.17)
I choose a photo, select Share, select Email, enter an email address to send to and click Send - then I get this error: "The email server didn’t recognize your username/password combination."
In iPhoto preferences I have "Email photos using" set to "iPhoto"; I have an account added for Gmail (outgoing mail server: smtp.gmail.com; Port: 587; User Name and Password are correct for my gmail account, Use SSL is checked - basically everything is default for when I chose to add a gmail account and I'm positive my user name and password are entered correctly). I do not have 2-step verification enable for my gmail account (I've been searching for a solution online and noticed others mentioned this - this does not apply to my situation).
Please help! What is going on? I just want to send an email from iPhoto using my gmail account.
    Thanks!

Thanks again for responding, MrHoffman; my responses to your questions are below in italics:
Have you tested the Gmail account via Apple Mail.app, and does both sending and receiving work?
Yes, I have tested the Gmail account via the Apple Mail.app - sending and receiving work just fine.
Have you confirmed that the Gmail user and password work with the Gmail web interface?
Yes, I am sure it is the correct username and password; I am able to access the Gmail account via the Gmail web interface.
Are you aware of and familiar with both sets of credentials present within each account within Mail.app?  In particular, have you gotten to the configuration displays the SMTP server settings?  (Mail > Preferences > Accounts > Account Information > Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) > select Edit SMTP Server List > select the SMTP server account > edit the SMTP server settings.)
I'm not sure what you mean by both sets of credentials, but yes, in the Mail.app I have set the Outgoing Mail Server (SMTP) to Gmail (and used the Edit SMTP server list... option to set the smtp server to use default ports, use SSL, and use "Password" authentication (again with my correct username and password for the Gmail account). I also have the Account Information in Mail.app set for the incoming mail server (maybe that's what you mean by both). Either way, I believe having these settings for incoming mail server and outgoing mail server are allowing me to send and receive email for this Gmail account through Mail.app.
I've also had some success by launching Keychain Access.app and finding all passwords associated with the account — specifically and only the Gmail account, in this case — and removing them from your keychain.  This does mean you'll have to re-add those passwords — using Mail.app and no other applications — and see if things start working.
I just tried this - I launched Keychain Access.app and removed all entries associated with Gmail. I opened Mail.app, re-entered my password info, and sent a test email to another account - this worked. I opened iPhoto.app, re-entered my password via the Preferences, selected a photo, selected share, selected email, entered a to: address and clicked send - this didn't work (same error message as before (The email server didn't recognize your username/password combination).

  • Fetching and relaying mails to a third party email server

    Hi All,
I have an existing email server sitting in the DMZ handling my company domain ([email protected]). I have installed OCS on the internal network. I want al my users to use OCS with the same email address they use on the existing email server ([email protected]).
For this purpose, the smtp outbound server on oracle email relays to the mail server sitting in the DMZ. This works fine.
However, I also want inbound emails coming to the external mail server to be delivered to Oracle mail server. I am using fetchmail for that. The fetchmail daemon does a pop on the external mail server and smtp to the oracle email server.
The problem is that is goes into a loop. When I get an inbound email on the external email server, it gets fetched (via fetchmail) and smtp to my OCS account. However, the OCS outbound SMTP server immediately relays it again to the external email server. And this results in a continuis loop.
I have searched the internet and this forum for a solution. There was some mention about sending the fetched emails from the external server to OCS mail via IMAP-Append rather than SMTP. However, I have no idea how to enable that on fetchmail (or if that works on OCS).
Has anyone faced a similar problem or has some soluiton to this issue.
    Thanks for the help.

My client wants to keep their externally hosted (highly available) mail server.
    They want OCS internally.
They want the external mail server to be the recognised MX host.
They want OCS to pull mail from the external server, or the mail to be pushed (if there is a guarantee of delivery).
    Thanks

  • Starting guardian process for eMail server

I've installed a new database, with the standard settings given on the install CD, and the Oracle eMail server on a Windows 2000 os.
The problem starts when try to start the email server node's guardian. I have to submit the Service Name, the database name in the TNSNAME.ora. When I try to save the value I get the following error message: "oracle.io.admin.common.PropertyException".
What does that mean and what should I do to get the service running?

    I have the similar problems.
    Conditions:
I tried to install Oracle EMail Server v5.1 (the package was downloaded
    from these URL:
    basic: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?email51nt-full
    patch set: http://technet.oracle.com/cgi-bin/go?es51patch2nt )
on the machine with the following configuration:
    Hardware:
Intel Pentium III 600MHz, 512Mb RAM, 30Gb IDE HDD, 20Gb free on
    destination volume.
    Software:
OS WindowsNT 4.0 Server Service Pack 4
    and following Oracle products installed:
Oracle8i Enterprise Edition 8.1.6.0.0 (installation option - typical)
    Oracle Portal 3.0.6.3.3
    Oracle Internet File System 1.0.8.1.0
Resulting messaging system must consist of one TCP/IP node, that is all
EMail processes (possibly except Sendmail, see questions below) will run
on the same machine. This node also must be the configuration node.
Installation of EMail Server (default option - includes all products)
performs well, installing server into the same OracleHome, as the
    Oracle8i Enterprise is located in.
The configuration options are as follows:
    Create a new node
Create a custom Email Server node
Yes - this is the first Email Server node that I am installing
Timezone selected - (GMT +3:00) Russian Standard Time
    Enabled servers:
    POP3
    POP3 using SSL
Yes - I want to enable SMTP gateway on this machine
Define and configure a new gateway
No - I don't want to enable the LDAP access on this machine
Yes - I have an existing database
Further configuration, including creation of all needed database
objects and Windows NT service (named OracleInternetMessaging<SID>),
    also performs nice.
After these steps (installing and configuring) I tried to run
OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service from Windows NT services window
(Oracle database and TNSListener services were launched earlier).
    Launch failed with error message:
    'The OracleInternetMessaging<SID> service returned service-specific error 1.'
Then I tried to start Email Server manually as described in installation
guide (section postinstallation). ofcguard command reported that
    guardian had started, but command
    'ofcguard status'
    returned following string
    'Status down'
When I inspected log file, located in directory %ORACLE_HOME%\office\log\<SID>,
    I found there following lines:
    01/11 13:12:00 INF: Guardian Version 5.1.0.1.51 started.
01/11 13:12:00 INF: Logged into database.
01/11 13:12:00 ERR: Failed to get database timezone information.
What is the reason of these problems?
Could you answer these questions also:
    1. In postinstall section of installation guide is written that setup
makes changes in file tnsnames.ora. But I didn't found any changes
in it. But setup placed in the directory
    %ORACLE_HOME%\office\admin\samples
another file, that consists of old tnsnames.ora and several new lines,
    something like this:
    crocus.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = CROCUS)
    crocus_guardian.world =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS =
    (COMMUNITY = tcp.world)
    (PROTOCOL = TCP)
    (Host = crocus)
    (Port = 1521)
    (CONNECT_DATA = (SID = GUARDIAN)
Should I place this new file instead my old tnsnames.ora (I did it,
but it had no effect), or what shuld I do else?
NB: Something similar occurs with listener.ora file.
    2. Problem with Sendmail: From Oracle Email Server installation
guide I concluded that Email Server uses in its work Sendmail
through properly configured SMTP gateway. The question is:
Sendmail itself must run on the same machine as Oracle Email
Server or it may run on another computer in the network?
If Sendmail MUST run on the same machine as Email Server,
then where I can get REAL Sendmail for Windows NT platform?
I found several Sendmail's for NT, but all of them can only
send messages from the command line. None of them is able to
run as NT service to handle inbound and outbound mail traff ic.
    3. In the Oracle Email Server administration guide (chapter #19 -
'Error Codes and Messages', item 'Messaging Server Messages',
error DA-10505 - 'Could not start server processes.') the
dbms_alarm package is mentioned. I don't have this package
installed at the moment. I didn't find any references to it
in Oracle documentation also. But my installation of Oracle 8i
Enterprise now includes the dbms_alert package. Maybe dbms_alarm
is a typing error and dbms_alert must be in its place in
Administration guide? If I'm wrong and documentation is OK,
then the question is: should I really have the dbms_alarm
package installed and if so, where can I get this package?

  • Configuring Email Server, using imconfig - getting ora-01017

    Hi
I've installed RDBMS 8.1.7 and Email Server 5.2.
When I run imconfig and get to the sceen that prompts for my tns connectsting, sy and system password, I get an "ora-01017 Invalid username/password error".
I've tested the password and all work fine.
I've gone as far as enabling all tracing on the database (sql_trace=true), but I don't see any trace files being created by an attempt to connect ot the database.
    Any Ideas?

This is not a host program - a host program is a OS shell script. This looks like C code - you will need to correct the registration of this concurrent program to indicate that it is so.
I am not getting this issue in my previous test instance. But when i run the same file i get the above error. Please tell me possible causes of this.
Pl identify how this was registered in your test instance.

  • 10.3.9 email server outage

    Hello,
I am running MacOS10.3.9 server and have encountered an email server problem. I currently have no IMAP or POP email functionality despite the mail server being up in the Server Admin Program. No changes to the server have been made in the recent past (months). I did start getting intermittent email failure of deliver warnings earlier this week (see below) that prompted me to restart the machine leading to the current outage.
    Failure to deliver message below:
This is the Postfix program at host www.avmi.net.
I'm sorry to have to inform you that the message returned
below could not be delivered to one or more destinations.
For further assistance, please send mail to <postmaster>
If you do so, please include this problem report. You can
delete your own text from the message returned below.

I have attached excerpts from the mail.log and the mailaccess.log below. Interestingly the mailaccess.log was not present and the mailaccess.log.0.gz was last saved 08/20/2007. I assumed all this was due to a corrupted mail database and rebuilt the mail data base using mailbfr which ran uneventfully but did not appear to solve the problem this time as it has in the past.

I would appreciate any suggestions. I am planning to move this server to a 10.5 server on a new xserve when available for purchase but need to keep it up and running until later this month.
Thanks ahead of time for any input you can provide.
FYI, both file serving and web service are running correctly on the machine as anticipated.

    Robert,
Thanks for the input. I tried the mailbfr program and while it worked it failed to resolve the problem. I did contact Alex directly via his web site (http://osx.topicdesk.com) and he was able to resolve the problem for me by manually performing the steps that the program does automatically.
    Thanks again.

  • Enabling ABE in Server 2008 R2

I've read that on Server 2008 that ABE was suppose to be on by default.  I don't know if SP1 changed that but it's no longer the case.
Is there a way to enable it on Server 2008 R2 so that every time I create a share it is automatically turned on?
I haven't found anything on the web on how to do this.
    Thanks

    Please refer to this article:

Windows Explorer enables access-based enumeration on shared folders by default
On a computer that is running Windows Server 2008, access-based enumeration is enabled by default on every folder that is shared by using the
File Sharing feature. (This is the default sharing feature that is available through Windows Explorer).
However, access-based enumeration is not enabled by default on the following types of shared folders:
Shared folders that are created with Share and Storage Management, Advanced Sharing in Windows Explorer, or the net share command

  • Tiger with SASL/TLS-enabled postfix on an iBook?

I am currently using Mac OS 10.2.8 on my iBook G3 with sendmail/fetchmail/pine. Since I am commonly using public WLAN hotspots I compiled sendmail with Cyrus-SASL and TLS support. For performance reasons I now would like to upgrade to the current iBook, along with Tiger. But from several postings on the Web it appears to me that Apple prevents a similar SASL/TLS-enabled postfix configuration at the standard Tiger OS and leaves this to the server version only.
Does anybody have experience with a SASL/TLS-enabled postfix configuration at standard-Tiger? Also, does anybody have experience in using sendmail in such configuration at standard-Tiger instead of postfix? In particular, from what I understood the /etc/hostconfig and /System/Library/StartupItems entries appear to be no longer available?
I am not interested in supplementary tools like "Postfix Enablers" or Fink.

Thanks, yes, this is the question---when I did set up my sendmail at 10.2.8 the glibtool needed for Cyrus-SASL was the crucial issue. I then had the option to install Fink (and live with the UNIX-not-at-all-conformant-extremely-weird /sw directory) or install some not-most-recent versions of sendmail and Cyrus-SASL which could live with an older version of the respective library or to spend ages for finding a properly working recent version of the glibtool sources. I then decided to go for the way in the middle (I am not having my mailserver online all the time...just an iBook , and now before starting an Odyssey I am just interested in the effort to come... • Trying to email an image from Lightroom 5.7 and I get the error validation failed to establish connection with email server

ffailed to establish connection with the outgoing email server.  Yet my email works fine with sending and receiving anything else.

Your settings will usually be blocked by Google unless you agree to lower your security settings.
Enter your details as shown in image 1 below and click the validate button.
You should see a LR message that the server settings could not be authenticated.
Launch your web browser and go to your Gmail inbox. Look for a message from Google confirming the authorization attempt was blocked.
Click on the link (highlighted in red) on image 2 below.
You will need to Click on the link “Allow less secure apps”
    Choose enable
    Click done
Now go back to LR and click the validate button and your Gmail account should show as validated.
You can now select a thumbnail from the LR Library and mail it by pressing the keys Control + Shift + M (Cmd+Shift+M on Mac)
The alternative is to set up Google two step verification and make the security application specific to Lightroom.

  • Lumia 800 outgoing email server settings

    Hello,
I need to set my outgoing work email (SMTP) server port number to 587 and connection security to TLS. However, I can't see an option to set either the port number nor the security to TLS. SSL security can be turned on/off, but no mention of TLS.
I have read elsewhere that setting the server name as <server name> : <port number> can be used (that is, using a colon to separate the server name from the port number), but still this does not allow for selecting TLS security.
My incoming email, IMAP, works fine, so my connection/username/password etc. should all be fine.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Don't know if this is actually the case but according to Google. They use port 587 on their SMTP for TLS connections and port 465 for SSL. I created the following using port 587 and was able to send an email.....
Advanced Email Configuration (relevant info only)
    Outgoing (SMTP) email server: smtp.gmail.com:587
outgoing server requires authentication: (Checked On)
Require SSL for outgoing email: (Checked On)

  • C3-00 Email Server Problems

For the 6 months or so I've had the phone I've been able to access my ISP's email server no problem. Just entered my username and password and everything worked well.  My ISP is now offered an updated webmail which included config settings for MS Exchange server to allow smart devices to sync. This has to be enabled in the webmail settings , I haven't done that yet...I'm still using the 'old ' pop3 settings.
i can sign in and retrieve mail using the current settings but I can't reply or send mail. The message fails. I would like to know if it's possible to access the settings for the current config ( outgoing server  / port settings etc ) so I can try to reconfigure those if necessary  OR  Does my C3 running V 08.63 support MS Exchange and if so , where can I access the settings ?  Any suggestions appreciated ( although upgrading to a new phone seems to be the obvious answer..)  TIA

    Hi Lilys_Dad,
Unfortunately Nokia C3 does not support Mail for Exchange, so you cannot connect to the Exchange server on this phone.
To see the list of devices supporting MS Exchange, just follow the link below:

  • TS3274 Get a message on emails "can't send or receive emails; server failed

Before sending and after receiving an email I get a message "cannot receive email server failed" / I can hit "ok" and the email sends anyway; how can I fix this aggravating message?

    Hello, Gthomp.
Thank you for visiting Apple Support Communities.
There could be a couple causes for this and I will include a couple solutions.  Sometimes the account credentials need to be authenticated and can cause this message.  Try forcing all applications to close and power cycle the device.  Two step verification may be enabled causing this error, try checking if this feature is enabled, disable and test.  The last solutions I could recommend would be in the second article and third article below.
iOS: Force an app to close
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ht5137
    iOS: Troubleshooting Mail
    http://support.apple.com/kb/ts3899
iOS: Gmail account will not connect to Gmail server

I should explain a bit more about our setup.
We are utilizing a DMVPN between our remote cisco 2800 router.  This SMTP traffic is riding the tunnel encapsulated within the GRE and Crypto.  We also utilize a zone based firewall  and IPS on the router.  To get to the port 25 of our sever this traffic would have to ride the public internet and not be protected via the VPN.  I am not prepared to follow that method based on security concerns.  So currently we do not allow telnet over the public network and I am confident our main network firewall would block telnet access from outside of our private network.
So basically I am trying to do this over a private/protected infrastructure.  Perhaps I am using the wrong method?

Sometimes deleting the account and then re-creating it can solve this issue
Write down all the information in accounts before doing this
Highlight the account on the left and click the minus button
