TLS version in Safari 4?

Anyone know how to find what version of TLS is in Safari 4?

I do not think that information is correct.
Unfortunately, it is correct; Apple doesn't reveal this information. There is a reference on their web site to supporting TLS v1.0 on Snow Leopard Server, which seems to imply that there is no direct support for TLS on a per-application basis for normal users.
There's nothing about it in System Profiler, and if you were to search your system for "TLS", you may find an extension named EAP-TLS and/or EAP-TLS.Info.plist, which tells you absolutely nothing.

  • Can't install a version of Safari compatible with OS 10.7.4

Both my MacBook Pro and MacPro are running )S 10.7.4. The version of Safari on my Mac Pro is more recent (6.0) than the one that was on my MacBook Pro. So I thought to update Safari on the MacBook Pro and I downloaded and installed Safari 6.0.3 It turns out, of course, that I can't use this version of Safari with OS 10.7.4 but there was no warning to this effect when I started the installation. I had a retained a downloaded version of Safari 5.1`.7 for Lion and tried to install it, but when I did an error message appeared stating that I could not install it since I had a newer version of Safari already installed. So this appears to be a Catch 22 sityuation in which I have installed an unusable version of Safari installed on my computer and it won't let me install a usable version. The fact is that I'm not going to install OS 10.8.x anytime soon, because some software that I use in my work is currently incompatible with the newer OS. What I have done for the moment is make Chrome my default browser. But I would be most appreciative if someone could tell me how to uninstall Safari 6.0.3 and renistal Safari 5.1.7 for Lion on my MacBook Pro. Thanks!

You ought to have 10.7.5 and the latest security update on both Lion macs, in which case 6.0.3 should work, or at least allow installing it again, assuming it was the Safari6.0.3Lion.pkg you used.
Failing that, (and it worked very well when I briefly tested rolling back from 6.0.2 to 5.1.7)... there is a 'repair' package that is intended to remove a broken 6.0.3 & revert to the previous version

  • What version of Safari should be running on OSX 10.7.4?

I recently upgraded a macbook to 10.7.4. The na transfered some files via Migration Assistant. Now Safari won't run. I tried reinstalling i0.7.4 but it didn't help. The version of Safari on the macbook now is 5.1.7. Is this correct and if not where can I get the right one? I'ts not available on Apple.com except as part of the 1-.7.4 upgrade and I tried that. If it's not the version why is Safari crashing and how can I fix it? Thanks very much.

On my OS X 10.7.4 system, Safari is Version 6.0 (7536.25).

    Hi..
here can I get a version of Safari 5.1 that is compatible with Snow Leopard 10.6.3?
Not possible. You need to update to v10.6.8
Click your Apple menu > Software Update
Or update using the this download > Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo
    Then restart your Mac.

Hello, elizl1597,  You are going to want to open the safari app, bring your cursor to the top of the screen to make the menu bar appear, then go over to history.  After you click on history on the menu bar, you are going to want to go to the bottom of the dropdown to where it says clear history.  Once you click clear history, your history on the safari app should be cleared.
This theory should work on all versions of an Apple Mac.
When you hit clear history, you won't be able to undo this action.

How do I block this msg from always popping up "iTunes requires Safari 4.0.3 or later to be installed to use the iTunes Store within iTunes. • What's the optimum version of Safari for OS 10.3.9?

    My first post here.
What is the optimum version of Safari for use on a PowerBook G3 "Pismo" running OS 10.3.9? I'm currently running 1.2 (v 125). I've downloaded 1.3.1 but when I try to install it says "Not compatible with this system." Is there some version in between that would work better? If so, I haven't been able to find it, and the Update Software feature doesn't find it either.
I did upgrade my firmware at some point, but I don't remember how to look up the version. Any help most appreciated.

Hi and Welcome to Apple Discussions
The highest version for Panther is 1.3.2.
Before you can install 1.3.1, you need to install 1.3. This may get you there: Apply the 10.3.9 Combined Update. Do not use the computer while the Installer is running. Once complete you'll need to restart the computer.
Then, via your Finder, go to your Applications>Utilities folder. Open Disk Utility. When open, click on the HD on the left, then First Aid Panel>Repair Permissions on the right. Once complete, open Safari.
When the Safari browser is open, go to the Safari Menu>About Safari. Which version are you using? If it is 1.3.2, then you're good to go. If it is 1.3, then run the 1.3.1 installer again. Once finished (I believe you'll have to restart), run the 1.3.2 update. Once the installer/restart is complete again "repair permissions".

  • Sion of This version of Safari is no longer supported. Please upgrade to a supported browser. I have am iMac v. 10.6.8. What now?

Browser: Safari, v. 5.1.10 Problem: Gmail posts a message that the version of Safari I have is no longer supported and to upgrade to a supported browser. When I attempted to update/upgrade, my system says there are no new updates. What is the best browser to use? I'm new at this stuff and totally lost.

You need to either upgrade the computer's OS or switch to a browser such as Firefox or Chrome.
To upgrade, open the Mac App Store and try downloading Yosemite. If you get told it's incompatible, choose About this Mac from the Apple menu, check if the computer has at least a Xeon or Core 2 Duo(not Core Duo) CPU and 2GB of RAM, and if it does, click here and order a download code for Lion 10.7.
Back up your data and check your applications for compatibility before upgrading. In particular, Mac OS X 10.7 and newer don't support PowerPC programs such as versions of Microsoft Office prior to 2008.

Unfortunately, Safari cannot be updated past 5.1.10 on a Mac running v10.6.8.
So, the options are to upgrade to a newer OS X or use Firefox or  Chrome.

  • Using system 10.6.8, this version of Safari 5.1.10 is no longer supported by gmail. Please upgrade to a supported browser. Updates are current. What?

I get a message in my gmail account starting two weeks ago: "This version of Safari is no longer supported. Please upgrade to asupported browser." My updates are current with Safari 5.1.10, using OS 10.6.8. No system changes have been made near that time frame. My gmail account appears to be working normally at the present time. Processor: 2 GHz Intel Core duo w/ 2GB SDRAM. Help?

To move to Safari 6 you would have to install Lion or Mountain Lion.  Perhaps try contacting Google/gmail about the issue and why they are not supporting your version of Safari.

  • I continue to get a message stating "This version of Safari is no longer supported.  Please upgrade to a supported browser."  How do I do that?

I'll start by saying I;m not real computer smart.  I need layman's terms.
I've been having issues completing transactions via Safari and based on the info I've gathered it has to do with my "no longer supported" version of Safari.  I get a statement saying "This version of Safari is no longer supported.  Please upgrade to a supported browser."  I have an iMac 3.06 GHz processor with 4 GB memory with OS X v10.6.8.
I understand I need to upgrade my Safari V5.1.10 but how do I do that?  When I click software update it says I'm updated.  Every time I do a search for Safari updates I get info for OS X & Yosemite.  However, I don't understand what exactly that is.  Just want a version of Safari that works.  Appreciate the patience of anyone that is willing to help.

    Hi
The version you using is not that old, but the upgrade is immediately required.
    Here are few available options.
    1) How to upgrade OS
    http://www.apple.com/in/osx/how-to-upgrade/
    2)
    Upgrading to Mavericks
You can upgrade to Mavericks from Lion or directly from Snow Leopard. Mavericks can be downloaded from the Mac App Store for FREE.
    Upgrading to Mavericks
To upgrade to Mavericks you must have Snow Leopard 10.6.8 or Lion installed. Download Mavericks from the App Store. Sign in using your Apple ID. Mavericks is free. The file is quite large, over 5 GBs, so allow some time to download. It would be preferable to use Ethernet because it is nearly four times faster than wireless.
        OS X Mavericks- System Requirements
Macs that can be upgraded to OS X Mavericks
             1. iMac (Mid 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 7,1 or later
             2. MacBook (Late 2008 Aluminum, or Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 5,1 or later
             3. MacBook Pro (Mid/Late 2007 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             4. MacBook Air (Late 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 2,1 or later
             5. Mac mini (Early 2009 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             6. Mac Pro (Early 2008 or newer) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
             7. Xserve (Early 2009) - Model Identifier 3,1 or later
To find the model identifier open System Profiler in the Utilities folder. It's displayed in the panel on the right.
         Are my applications compatible?
See App Compatibility Table - RoaringApps.
    3) If you are working and used to using some older applications on your computer, updating to Yosemite will create so many problems. Some of your older applications will not work anymore and you will have to upgrade them too. This = $$$$ . Maybe it will be cheaper to buy a new computer
Install Google Chrome or Opera Browser for free.

  • Which version of Safari for old old xp on Windows 7 Professional Virtual Machine?

    Ok, ready for a challenge?
I've had the "competition" (yes a PC) for two years now.
SONY i5 Laptop V111 model series (more details if you need it) running WIndows 7 Professional Edition.
On the Main Desktop, Windows 7 Professional Edition is running the latest Safari as I prefer it as mostly have Macs but Work (College) runs in a PC mindset.
Now I have this XP Virtual Machine Desktop and have never been able to do much with it.
Finally found out why, it had no interconnection to the Internet, so now it has it through IE 8 (again sorry) but that successful installation today  opened up the two year old question that I no longer have the store (Sony Style store closed here) to help me with answers.
Can I get a Safari for the  XP Virtual Machine Desktop?  It appears to be a 32-Bit version (despite the WIndows 7 Professional being the 64-bit version).
All I see is Safari for Mountain Lion.  Maybe as I am not able to search properly from the PC, the  Apple pages as I have on my Mac my home page is the Apple store and communities for questions/help.  Where is the "older" Safari's  hiding out?
Or maybe I don't need such an old version of Safari, as I can't find out which Safari works for my PC as whenever I go in it says my Mac version and I can't hide that since I'm using the Mac to access this Forum!
Please write if you are confused as I am and I'll find whatever information you need.
    Thanks everyone!

    Hi Cooljoe,
Based on my understanding, local machine control-alt-delete key combination is control-alt-delete.
Virtual PC's control-alt-delete key combination is Right Alt - Delete.
Remote Destop session's control-alt-delete key combination is ctrl + alt +
    end.
There should be no conflicts between them.
