TM Backup Failed - too many days since last backup

I moved and it took awhile for me to plugin my TM drive. Finally plugged it in and got an error that says "Backup Failed it has been 89 days since your last backup." There is no option to start a new backup. How do I fix this?

Hi Jake,
Try repairing the TM backup using Disk Utility.
If you back up to a Time Capsule or network disk:
Open the Time Machine pane of System Preferences, and slide the switch to Off.
Open Disk Utility, which is in the Utilities folder in the Applications folder.
Make sure the Time Capsule or network disk is turned on and available.
Open a Finder window, select your Time Capsule or network disk in the Shared section of the sidebar, and click Connect. If necessary, enter your user name and password.
On the Time Capsule or network disk, select the disk or volume that contains Time Machine backups. Depending on how your Time Capsule is set up, there may be one or more disks or volumes.
Locate your backup, and drag it to the Disk Utility sidebar.
You can identify your backup by looking for your computer’s name in the backup’s filename.
Select your backup in the Disk Utility sidebar, and then click Repair.
If the repair is successful, attempt to back up using Time Machine. If the repair is not successful, delete your backup and start a new backup.

    Hello!
    On MacOSX 10.4.10 which is an OD master, my log are filed with this:
    DirectoryService[67]: socket(PF_ROUTE) failed: Too many open files
    It happens at exactly every hours 44 minutes 18 seconds 161 times. At the same time, it makes a lot dns request for "kerberos-master.udp.XXXXXXXXX.COM IN SRV +"
    The server works fine, but there's probably a cronjob that go crazy and i would like to know why it's happening.

    Hi,
    Cause might The server got an exception while trying to accept client connections. It will try to backoff to aid recovery.
    The OS limit for the number of open file descriptor (FD limit) needs to be increased. Tune OS parameters that might help the server to accept more client connections (e.g. TCP accept back log).

  • Report - Return days since LAST activity

    Hi,
    I need a report that returns "All open SRs with the amount of days since the LAST completed activity of type X" (so we can see when the activity needs to happen again)
    I have managed to create a report that brings back "all open SRs with the amount of days since EVERY completed activity of Type X (so if the activity happened 10 times i get the report returning the SR 10 times).
    I was hoping i could use something like a min function in a pivot table to just return the days since the LAST one but am getting nowhere.
    Any ideas?!?!?!

    I'm doing a similar report also.
    I have a analysis based on Activities that returns a list of service requests.
    I have inserted a column with a timediff function to tell me how many days old the activity is. e.g.:
    SR 1, act1, 2 days old
    SR 1, act2, 4 days old
    SR 2, act1, 6 days old
    SR 3, act1, 3 days old
    SR 3, act2, 9 days old
    Using a pivot table i display only the first activity for each SR.
    SR 1, act1, 2 days old
    SR 2, act1, 6 days old
    SR 3, act1, 3 days old
    However i now want to be able to sort the pivot table in descending order of the Day Old column.
    Unfortunately i can't get this to work.
    Any idea's?

    I tried to schedule one more attempt today and the pearson vue site prompted me with a message that Adobe policy says that another attempt cannot be scheduled within 14 days of first attempt.
    As this is a fixed message from pearson vue, the answer to my question becomes 14 days.  14 days are required to appear for the exam once you fail one attempt as per Adobe policy conveyed to pearson vue  testing partner for Adobe.

  • Determine Days Since Last Visit

    I think I may be overthinking this problem.
    What I have is a table that consists of membership data including visit dates. For each visit date, I need to determine the number of days since the last visit.
    I'm trying a combination of CTEs and partitions, but it is simply not coalescing in my head.
    Following is a sample set of data;

  • Get # of Days since last modified

    Is there anyway to have a number column that shows the number of days since the item or page was last updated? I was hoping to use a calculated column where [Today]-[Modified] but that doesn't work. A workflow wouldn't work because it would have to keep
    continuously running to keep that column updated.  Any ideas?

    We ended up finding some posts online suggesting using Jquery to display this information on the page.  You can put this code in your page layout to display the number of days since the page was last modified or any date field you have associated
    with the page. 
    What we ended up doing was creating a calculated field to just grab a date field (in our case the column 'ReviewDate') and put it in the proper format:
    =TEXT([ReviewDate],"MM/DD/YYYY")
    Then we added a div to the page layout that has this date but is not displayed on the page:

    Running into two problems:
      1.  Despite the product actually being used on some computers, Recently Used Apps (RUA) View shows no usage (none in other SW Metering views, either) and not sure what the issue is--SW and HW inventory are both working perfectly fine, as
    are the metering processes on the site server.  Gives me a lot of false positives for not being used.
      2.  Have found some cases in which a previous version was installed, and used, then later upgraded, but not used--however, seems no way to filter out just usage for the CURRENT version.  Have looked at comparing the SW File Version and the
    RUA.File Version, but they are often not identical, particularly if the product was patched.
    Is there a better way to determine usage, or a better custom report to use?

  • ICal month view: too many days

    When I view a month in "month view," I still see days from previous months. This wouldn't be so bad if they were grayed out, but events for those days are displayed in full color. So, for example, for June 2007, where June 1 is on a Friday, I'm actually seeing May 28, 29, 30, and 31. But I don't want to see May: I want to see only June. Is there some secret way to change this?
    --Please ignore this ranty part while I vent--
    If there's no way to change this, why not? Is there anyone out there who actually does want this to be the default? I'm at a loss as to why seeing days NOT in a specified month would be the default: they might as well have the "single day view" randomly decide to show 3 days instead of 1 day. Goofy.

    I have this same question! I DON'T WANT THE EVENT TIME TO SHOW ! I often just put my events anywhere on my calendar and have them take up 3 or 4 hours just so they show up larger, disregarding the times on the calendar, but rather typing my own times in at the beginning.  So, having the actual calendar event time show  is very confusing. Before the update, you could UNCHECK, show event times.  NoW that option does not exist!!  There must be a way to go into the system, and disable this function, however I am not computer literate enough to know how to do it without specific instructions.  DOES ANYONE OUT THERE KNOW HOW TO DO THIS???   • Operation Could Not Be Completed:  Too Many Open...

    I've had this error showing up a lot in the Safari 3.2 and 4.0 beta activity window when loading multiple tabs of pages with many images (usually gallery type pages or blogs with lots of thumbnails). The result is that some images or other elements like style sheets don't load, leading to the blue question mark, or messed up formatting. Unfortunately, the activity window can't be stretched wide enough to see the whole error, but in fact it's "Operation Could Not Be Completed: Too Many Open Files". The error "socket(PF_ROUTE) failed: Too many open files" shows up in the Console as well, at least with Safari 4. I had also experienced similar problems with "Operation Timed Out" errors as well.
    I've been pulling my hair out on this one, because it's rather inconsistent, not to mention annoying. You can usually get an individual page to load completely by refreshing it, but that kind of defeats the purpose of loading multiple tabs all at once. It's also less of a problem if more of those pages are already cached, but you never know for sure. Running your connection through a proxy also helps a bit, but not always.
    I found a fix, but it's actually not Safari's "fault" per se. The issue lies in the allowable number of open files per user process, which is set by the system's launchd process at boot time. Note that Safari is not entirely innocent, as FireFox doesn't have this problem. It Seems that Safari just tries to load everything all at once, whereas FireFox does a better job of managing its load requests. Anyway if you run the following command in Terminal:
    sudo launchctl limit
    the following list should show up (with perhaps slightly different values)

    The second column is a "soft limit" and the third column is a "hard limit", though to be honest I'm not exactly sure what the difference entails. The image loading problem is caused by hitting the maxfiles limit of just 256 files. The solution is to change maxfiles to 4096/unlimited, and also change maxproc to 1000/2000 since it's pretty low as well. That sounds like a pretty big change, but OS X server is supposed to change them to numbers like this when services like Apache are enabled, and Apple even mentions how to change maxproc at http://support.apple.com/kb/TS1659
    To make these changes, run the following two commands in Terminal and restart the computer:
    echo "limit maxproc 1000 2000" | sudo tee -a /etc/launchd.conf
    echo "limit maxfiles 4096 unlimited" | sudo tee -a /etc/launchd.conf
    The commands add the two lines in quotes to the launchd.conf file in /etc/ (if no file exists yet, it creates it). That should clear up the loading issues. I haven't noticed any other problems with these increased numbers, but I'll report back if anything seems to go amiss. Hopefully this will be helpful to someone.

  • Attempted to set up an HP wireless printer and my whole network is now a mess.  HP help told me I had too many signals, as I have a Time Capsule 4 Macs and 4 Airport Express set up.  Anyone else figure this out?

    I attempted to set up a new HP wireless printer.  It is unstable and HP support says I have too many devices since I have a time capsule and 4 airport express either extending my network or being used for a different printer or stereos.  Anyone else find that their Airport Express/Extreme interferes with a wireless printer. If so, what's the point?

    I have a similar model, the  HP 8500A here in the home office that I originally hooked up using wireless on an AirPort system consisting of an AirPort Extreme, Time Capsule and 2 AirPort Express devices.
    The HP was originally hooked up to the "main" router using wireless as a test to see how wireless would perform. No issues with setup or performance over the first few weeks. I did eventually change the device to connect using Ethernet once I had room to move the device near the AirPort Extreme.
    HP is pulling your leg with the advice about too many devices. The AirPort Extreme and Time Capsule will handle up to 50 wireless devices. In my case, I did nothing except follow the setup procedure and restart the entire network....something that I always do when I make any change to the network.

    I've been trying to create a sparseimage file using both the Disk Util app and the hdiutil command-line tool to use with the Time Machine from a network folder. However, both fail with a "too many processes" error.
