This is great.
I take it that there was no way around the issues with reformatting drives etc. That would be the first thing to fix, make it work with say, the iomega I bought right out of the box, not after a good flail with reformatting etc. What about backing up to dvd's? That went the way of the dodo as an option I guess...
Then under preferences there should be radio buttons next to:
Time Machine keeps
Hourly backups for the past 24 hours
Daily backups for the past month
Weekly backups til your drive is full
Myself for example, I'd only set it to hourly when I'm working, most of the time
it's a waste of space to backup so often.
Over a year say, I'd like to look and see that there is a monthly backup for the first 11months
and weekly in recent time.
Maybe it will work well when the drive gets full, but right now I have my doubts...I may get too much recent time and not enough ancient time. I should be able to set that.

Frequently, HD are formatted FAT32 (a lowest common denominator) and that doesn't do with a Mac. Oh you can use it, but FAT has severe limitation (file size limits for one). TM needs a better file system if it's to do its magic - so working with most HDs out of the box is definitely out.
Backup to DVDs? I consider DVD reliability a notch better than the old tape drives I used to use.
Don't like the 1 hour schedule? If you are not using your mac, then there are precious few new files that are generated, so a backup at that point is very small. Minimal additional disk space used. [My Mac burped last week and I had to do a full restore using TM. It worked beautifully! If I had decided to reschedule backups to once every 4 hours, say, than I would very likely have lost some files in that restore. As it was, with the 1 hour backups, I lost a couple of email messages when I restored. Not bad.
Monthly backups (consolidated from weeklies)? Okay, I could go for that.

on my imac running 10.6.8 I can get into itunes, but not into app store. When I go to PURCHASES, or UPDATES i get prompted to log in (I have masked my ID in the screen grab) My ID works fine here, this is the ID I registered my iMac with.

I am curious if possibly the hotel has some sort of VOIP block on. Have you tried Skype? Did you talk to the hotel staff? My husband is traveling to Milan in a couple of days and I wonder if he will run into the same issue. He has had no problems from Istanbul but he is staying in a corporate apartment there. I bought the company unlocked phone from apple store Canada. It was originally loaded with software 4.2 and was working fine here in SaudiArabia. Yesterday I updated with IOS 5.0.1. Now it is showing that sim is not valid. The same sim works fine in other phones.

Here's and update on my problems and here are are some screen shots of the types of problems I've been having since the v5.0.1 update. Keep in mind these are native apps and I have tried the rebuild phone crap many times, nothing helps.
This is screen shot of a what happened when I tried to use my camera one day, both the front and back cameras were all black. I had to power cycle the phone to get rid of this problem. The cameras appeared to be working correctly, I could focus and zoom but it was all black.
Here is an image of what happened when I searched for something in a map. This is after I picked the choice I wanted, the keyboard disappeared but the list didn't. I had to force close the app and restart it for this problem to go away. Who knew five bars on ATT was possible.
And finally this is the messaging app, although you would not know it. I had to return to home screen (after a long pause for it to process the button push) and return to the messaging app. This happens all the time with the messaging app and the notifications sounds drive me crazy. If i'm using the phone, say browsing the web and I get an incoming message its almost 100% of the time the messaging app will screw up. The sound will play at the wrong time or not at all, message will show up in notifications and diasapear in message app or Ill have a problem like this:

Use Open DNS Free / Basic No more problems with DNS. Includes anti phishing filters.
For Safari. Empty the cache more often. From your Safari menu bar click Safari / Empty Cache. A faster way is: Option + Command + E on your keyboard.
And from your Safari menu bar click Safari / Preferences then select the Advanced tab.
Click: Change Settings next to: Proxies. That will prompt the System Preferences / Network pane
Make sure none of the boxes are selected under: *Select a protocol to configure* If there are, deselect the box, then click: OK.

I did find this in an email I sent out after I got this working:
"An important item to note is that when selecting a Default LOV, it appears as if the radio button does not determine which LOV is default. It is always the first item in the list (took me a bit to figure that little gem out)."

Works fine here on Linux. Make sure that you do not block [[JavaScript]].
Start Firefox in [[Safe Mode]] to check if one of your add-ons is causing your problem (switch to the DEFAULT theme: Tools > Add-ons > Themes).

Burning CD's works fine, BUT when playing the cd, seconds are being skipped

Hi,
Burning CD's works fine here, but when I play the completed CD, every 30 seconds a second of the song is being skipped. It's like it jumps one second forward.
Any ideas for this problem?
I already tried to solve it by rebooting and burning the playlist a second, or even a third time, but even this ended up in CD's I can't use.

External Fonts not loading properly in panels & buttons, works fine in labels / edits - help!

I'm new to developing in Flex, so please excuse any
ignorance.
I followed the basic tutorial to use Flex to import external
fonts... here's my CSS code:

Here's what's happening:
1) On my development machine, I have the "Blue Moon" font
installed. Everything works fine here - I see the Blue Moon font on
everything in my project, from the titles of Panels to Buttons, and
so on. Everything's great.
2) On all other machines, which do NOT have the Blue Moon
font installed, I see the Blue Moon font properly on the labels and
edit boxes, but NOT on the buttons or on the title areas of panels.

Assuming you don't own the Blue Moon font, you should notice
that the panel titles are a default font, where the "Username" and
"Password" and edit box fields are the Blue Moon font.
I am forced to conclude that for whatever reason my code is
not applying the externally imported font to the panels and buttons
for whatever reason. But it DOES apply the local font on the
machine, if availible. I'm really quite confused.
Any insight / help would be greatly appreciated!

I would do a transfer of purchases from the phone and not sync. If you sync then it will want to start over and sync music that is on the MacBook Pro. If you want to transfer the music, check out the article below that will give you multiple options on how to move. I have also provided on how to sync with multiple computers.

Why can I no longer, after having downloaded Lion, write accents and other diacriticals when in the Google, Yahoo, FaceBook, or even here in this post? The new method for getting at the "option" symbols works fine in other places like spotlight, but now even the older "option+letter" doesn't work in most places.

Chrome doesn't support the new accent/diacritics/macron chooser. I'm not sure about other browsers such as Firefox. You can use the old Option+letter combination that Doug suggested. Hopefully updates will solve these little incompatibilities shortly.

What version of iPhoto? Assuming 09 or later:
Option 1
Back Up and try rebuild the library: hold down the command and option (or alt) keys while launching iPhoto. Use the resulting dialogue to rebuild. Choose to Rebuild iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup.
If that fails:
Option 2
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. This will create a new library based on data in the albumdata.xml file. Not everything will be brought over - no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your albums and keywords back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one. .

I share a mac computer with my wife. We both have our own log in. We got her iTunes match and it works fine. I log into my side and got iTunes match and its not working. HELP me

I got imatch for her and it works fine. When I got imatch it does not work. is that because imatch wont allow the two accounts to come from one computer? if thats the case how do i get my money reimburesed?

At this time iTunes Match cannot be used in more than one User Account in OS X. iTunes Match is associated to one Apple ID per computer MAC address.
