TMF SID Model vs Oracle EBO (FP)

Hi Guys,
I need some info and difference in the implementation of TMF SID model and Oracle FP(EBO, EBM and EBS) pack.
Could someone please guide me in right direction.

Error in import : tabular model with Oracle

Hi there,
I seems to be getting very strange error.
I am trying to build tabular model over oracle db. I get test successfull for connection, able to validate the query, and in query designer, if i execute it shows me data too. But when i press finish, it gives me error while importing.
ERROR from import screen

A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of '8ffdbfd9-e21f-442d-9040-b66dc074c87d', Name of 'XXXXXXX'.

The current operation was cancelled because another operation in the transaction failed.
I cant figure this out,Even in Execl powerpivot i am able to pull the data in.

Based on my research, for the error “OLE DB or ODBC error: ORA-01033: ORACLE initialization or shutdown in progress.
A connection could not be made to the data source with the DataSourceID of '8ffdbfd9-e21f-442d-9040-b66dc074c87d', Name of 'XXXXXXX'.”
It seems that it related to Oracle database, here are some links about how to troubleshoot this issue, please see:

SID Name in oracle 10g

Dear Experts,
how I can find SID name in Oracle 10g databse, which i forget.

On Unix/Linux, under $ORACLE_BASE/admin you should have a subdirectory for each SID. If the DB is active you can also do something like this
$ ps -ef | grep smon | grep -v grep | cut -f8 | awk -F"_" '{print $3}'
On Windows you should have a service OracleService<SID> for each SID.

Error when create classification model by Oracle Data Miner 10.1.0.2

I have created a classification model by Oracle Data Mining 10.1.0.2, Oracle 10g Release 1 (10.1.0.3) with following options:

When finished, i receive an error with following detail content:

When you performing RMAN duplicate why you making your script so complicated?
Your instance name and DB name can be different, But what is the contents in your pfile "D:\TESTDELETE\initclonedb1.ora" ? please do post
Have you started any other services related to ORACLE? check in start --> run --> services.msc any other active oracles services, Make sure you have clonedb1.

First run duplicate from auxiliary server as

Am not sure what you are trying to do. is it 11gR1 or 11gR2?
You have option of duplicate from active database without having backup also..

This problem when importing from Data Dictionary can occur intermittently if you have the Oracle 9i or 10g database software installed on your computer.
Ivan provided a workaround in a previous message in this forum Re: Error when testing database connection :
Try to create a batch file (datamodeler.bat) under Data Modeler installation folder and put the following two lines in it:
set ORACLE_HOME=%CD%
start datamodeler.exe
Then double click on this file to start Data Modeler.

How do I find the SID of an Oracle 8.0 install ?

I have a Win NT that acts as the Domain in our LAN
+ 3 Win 98 boxes , that need to get to the Oracle
database situated on the Win NT machine.
I tried creating the service using Net8 Assistant
on the Win98 machine from which I type this,
then I noticed they asked me for the SID and Hostname
of the Server.
I knew the Hostname of the Server , but not the SID.
So I went upto the server and checked for the init*.ora
file . If my SID was LOOKBOSS , then I guess the init*.ora
file would be named initLOOKBOSS.ora , but :
I found 2 files : -
o initorcl.ora
o initseed.ora
Both files being exact replicas of the other and each claiming
to be the init.ora !
I tried out some other utility (I do not re-collect the name) ,
that said that I have only 1 hos t configured ...
so where did this init-orcl thing come from ?
Now I tried passing seed as the SID at my Win98 box and was
scolded by Net8 Assistant which said that it could not connect.
I also tried orcl as the SID .
Now please can somebody please tell me how I can find out the SID
from the Serer ?

Hi Shyam,
Go to the sqlplus session in the server itself, and cdonnect as system/manager. At the SQL prompt, select name from V$database. This is the name of the ORACLE S
ID running on your machine. Ideally if you have opted for the default database installation while installing the product/database, the file name should be initorcl.ora and the SID would be orcl.

Hybrid OLAP model in Oracle 9i OLAP

Please, does anybody know if with Oracle 9i OLAP Technology is possible to create an hybrid model? In Express I've used the RAM for mapping dimensions and fact tables with Express multidimensional cubes, so when I ran queries (i.e. OSA queries) the RAM/Express engine knew dynamically what data to retrieve from the fact tables (i.e. detail data) and what data to retrieve from the Express cubes (i.e. aggregated data) in a hidden way for the end user.
So, in Oracle 9i OLAP which is in charge of accomplishing the RAM function? and if this functionality exists, could the Analytic Workspace Manager create the metadata of this hybrid model?
Secondly, OWB 9.0.4 is capable of creating the OLAP metadata from the result of a fact load mapping; do you think that the OWB future releases would allow to create the hybrid metadata?, for later to be exploited from BI Beans?

Logistic Multivariate Regression Model in Oracle (How to?)

Hi All,
Is there a way to do a logistic regression and store predicted values back onto the data? I work in the Healthcare Sector and I need to do some multivariate logistic regression to be able to predict Admission Rates (Dependant Variable) from the Emergency Department given a set of independant/predictor variables such as Age, Gender, Triage Level (1 through 5) and the Charleston Comorbidity Index (Scoring system for categorizing how ill a person is using diagnosis codes). I went to the following website:

The author talks about using logistic regarding to scorecard credit card risk but he never really gets into the details on how he did it, ie the SQL Code that he used to input the dependant and predictor variables and such to get the predicted values. I haven't found much on the internet regarding this. I'm not a super advanced Oracle user but I am relatively experienced with PL/SQL so all I need is a really simple explanation or snippet of code on how to do this regression. I'm using Oracle 10g at present. So let us say I have the following 3 Predictor Variables: AGE, GENDER, TRIAGE_LEVEL and the following independant variable ED_ADMISSION_RATE. How would I do this regression to get the predicted ED Admission Rate? I realize this is a vary high level approach but I can't think of any other way to explain this so I'm hoping to get some input at least to point me in the right direction.

As suggested in previous two responses, since you have 2 business groups, it is beneficial for you to go for multi-business group scenario. Thus, enabling Security groups based security.
Once this is enabled, the responsibilities to different users should be attached using the form 'Assign Security Profiles' in UK HRMS manager responsibility. Using this, you can attach required security profile (for the specific business group) and the responsibility to the user.

Issue with Engineer Multidimensional Model from Oracle Model

Here is the scenario:
1. Created logical star schema model including a dimension with nested subtypes (SuperTypeEntity1 -> Subtype 1 -> Nested Subtype 2)
2. Forward engineer to Relational model using Single Table implementation
3. Create Oracle 11g physical model definitions for the star
4. Define dimension, levels, and hierarchy in physiclal model
5. Create new multidimensional model, right click menu and execute "Engineer from Oracle Model"
Result:
Model and diagram built with correct dimension, levels, level attributes, hierarchy
Problem: The entity that the dimension levels are related to is the subtype entity that appears first alphabetically! What it should do is be related to the SuperTypeEntity since I used the Single Table implementation (IMO). I can manually change the property to pick the SuperType but then it loses the assignments for the Level Key and the Descriptive Attributes (which were defined in the physcial miodel) so I have to manually repopulate those properties.
Associated problem: Since I tend to do things incrementally (define a few dimensions at a time), everytime I re-run the engineering utility, it resets the dimension back to the wrong subtype everytime. (I like the fact that I can rebuild the multidimensional model iteratively to incorporate changes, but in this case it would be nice to "lock in" my manual changes).
My only work around at this point is to either only run the engineering utility once (which is pretty impractical) or temporarily prefix my super type entity with an "A" so it always comes up first in the list until I am done with all my iterations.

How to proceed if some attributes (key +descriptive) are in subtypes, should SuperType be set as level entity again?

Ora-00922 when building a model with Oracle Data Miner

Hi,
i'm using Oracle Data Miner 10.1.0.2 with Database 10.1.0.3.0 under Linux x86.
The specific patch 10.1.0.3.1 for Data Mining was applied because i didn't manage to execute the models in the tutorial.
So all were fine, and i succeded creating my own models and i executed them.
But few months later, i.e now, i'm trying to build som other models but when building i have again the ora - 00922 : missing or invalid option
I tried applying once again the patch but no effect !
Is anyone ever faced this problem !?

Model to Oracle Applications returns no columns with Standard Reverse

I'm connecting a model using the apps user to an Oracle Applications 9.2 database for selected tables. It will return the table as a data store but it won't populate any columns. Anyone know why?

Thanks for the responses. I realized over the weekend that they were synonyms.
I created a number of models for each of the schemas where the tables reside. This allows me to retrieve the table columns as I needed to do.
It brings up another question though about the suitability of data integrator with Oracle Applications or applications that are organized similarly. Since the synonyms don't create column definitions creating a separate model for all of the OA schemas certainly isn't very convenient at best. Is there something that I am missing, or do I need to create a model for each schema as I suspect.
