TMOBILE NO CONTRACT PHONES

I have a question. Why does Best Buy sell the same phone as T-Mobile but for less? It should be that T-mobile sells the phone for less and Best Buy sells it for more money.
Example:
Nokia Lumia 521 Best Buy 99.99
Nokia Lumia 521 T-Mobile 126.00 provided it is under a qualified account because there is another price point for the same phone if you try to buy for pay by the day also T-Mobile. I did this in the store at T-Mobile today. Thankfully I'm an authorized user so I was able to buy the phone for 126.00 plus tax even though I needed it for my other number which is a pay by the day account. I normally would only have one phone number, but my Aunt is used to calling me on the Pay by the day so I just keep it for her. I bought the phone as though I was buying it for the shared account that I am under for which yes I'm an authorized user.
Once again, same phone, same specifications. T-Mobile stores should sell the phone for less and Best Buy more if that is the way they are going to price it anyway.

At Best Buy we can offer the phone for less because of our commitment to giving you the best product at the most competitive pricing.
The difference between us and T-Mobile is that we aren't working on commission, while T-Mobile corporate stores do. By not being on commission, we can take the pressure off of you as a customer to buy something you don't need. Additionally, this allows us to pass on savings to you, as a portion of that T-Mobile price goes to the commission of the salesperson.
In addition, Best Buy offers the unmatched protection of the Geek Squad, which can't be beat by any other company. Purchasing a Geek Squad Protection Plan with Accidental Damage from Handling would bring your cost to maybe a little more than the T-Mobile store, but with the peace of mind of having your device protected against any of the most common problems!

  • Edge and Contract phones on same account - contract renewal question

Hello.  I have multiple devices on my account and just signed up with EDGE for a new phone (different line, same account owner).  When my contract phone goes up for renewal in a few months, am I still able get a subsidized phone with extending that 2-year contract at that time?
    Thanks!

Yes but why would you want to do that? Depending on the device and the discount it is usually cheaper than buying the phone with a 2yr contract.
IF, you're on the More Everything Plan.

I have an iphone 2g unlocked for tmobile.  For the past 2 years it has worked fine then out of no where I get this message "your selected cellular network is no longer available" and the service cuts in and out all day.  It can't find tmobile on my phone for some reason but for 2 years previous it could no problem?  tmobile says it is a problem with my phone and not their service.
    Any ideas what to do?

I would just explain that this just started happening, that nothing has changed on the phone, that it is an original iPhone and I wondered if they are implementing a change in coverage with their Edge network in my area.
If you restore your phone, you will be given an option to back up your phone at the beginning of the process (see step 6 here: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1414).  You will be given the option to restore to that backup at the end of the restore process.  Your messages are stored in the backup so restoring to the backup will return the messages to your phone.  Be sure to import your photos and videos to your computer (see http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4083) and back up your contacts somewhere before restoring your phone as these sometimesget lost in the restore process.

  • Price Match Contract Phones - Call Mobile Back Office

I went into my local Best Buy yesterday to purchase a new iPhone and asked to have it price matched with Walmart's $50 off deal. I was told that they do not price match contract phones. I told them that I had read on the Best Buy Forums that they do, but they refused to give me the price match. I went ahead and purchased the phone thinking I may be wrong.
After I left, I looked up the forums again and confirmed that others had asked and the moderators said they would price match. So, I called 1-800-BESTBUY. The first person I spoke with said the same thing - no price match. I told her about the forums and she put me on hold and confirmed with her manager that they will not price match contract phones. I then pointed out the forums and she pulled it up so we could look at them together. She went and spoke with her manager again and they finally agreed that they could price match. She then transferred me to mobile sales (45 minutes later). Mobile sales said they would not be able to help me and transferred me to Mobile Back Office.
At this point I had been on the phone for 1 hour and 13 minutes. Finally, Mobile Back Office confidently told me that they do offer price match on contract phones from local retailers; e.g. Walmart. I was so relieved...but then he said I would have to go back in the store to have the price match honored since that is where I purchased the phone. But he said the store associate could call 1-800-BESTBUY and ask for the Mobile Back Office to confirm the price match policy if they have questions. So, I guess I will be headed back in the store again tomorrow.
Moral of the story? If your local store tells you they won't do the price match on contract phones...save yourself an hour and 15 minutes and just have them call and speak to Mobile Back Office.

    Greetings mcharman,
I hope you are enjoying your new iPhone! I’m sorry to hear you had such difficulties with price matching Wal-Mart. After receiving various answers, I can imagine you might be a bit confused on how to request a price match.
Generally speaking, we should price match contract phones that are sold at local retailers, although contract phones sold by online retailers would be excluded. You may review this via our Price Match Guarantee page on BestBuy.com.
That being said, while we do price match contract phones (as long as it's available at a local competitor) there are times where the competitor's sale may have terms and conditions that ultimately result in Best Buy not being able to match their advertised price. You may wish to consult a manager at your local store for further consideration on the price match.

  • What is the reason contract phones cannot be used on a prepaid plan?

I originally posted this question in the Basic Phones forum, but I think that may have been the wrong place to ask this.
I am interested in activating a phone on the $50 basic phone prepaid plan, but the phone I tried to activate would not work.  It was the Casio Ravine 2 C781.
I already know that contract phones will not work on the prepaid plan.  I also have already spoken with two customer service reps, and they were helpful, but they could not answer my questions.
What is the actual reason that basic feature contract phones will not work on the prepaid basic plan?  Is it the PTT feature?
The Ravine 2 was new with a clean ESN, and it's just a basic phone.  I don't blame anyone except myself, but I would like to avoid this in the future. btw, I gave the Ravine to my mom and dad who are on a contract plan, and it is working great.
One of the reps I spoke with said that this may change in the near future, and that phones like the Ravine 2 may work on the prepaid plan soon.  Does anyone know if this is true?
To make things more confusing, I just read an older post that states if a contract phone like the Ravine is activated for at least 6 months, it then can be activated on a prepaid plan.  Is there any truth to this?
Finally, I understand that there are some basic flip phones available that I can purchase like the Revere 2 and the Gusto 2, but I prefer the quality of the Ravine 2.  I need the rugged phone capability due to my work environment.
    Thanks for your time.
    Jim

  • Contract phones

AWARE anyone with a Verizon "no contract" phone.  I had auto pay set up for my 45 dollar amount plan and a voice auto message from Verizon came on my phone to make a payment now to NOT disrupted services,  I did using the automatic service with my credit card on file, THEN realized my account was set up on auto pay.  Verizon charged my account TWICE! When I called Verizon to dispute the double charge, I was told "since I had money on my account and made a couple of phone calls internationally, Verizon took the privilege to DEDUCT that money without my knowledge OR permission.  SO FOR EVERYONE'S INFORMATION, DO NOT HAVE EXTRA MONEY ON YOUR ACCOUNTS!  IF YOU DO AND MAKE A CALL NOT COVERED ON THE PRE-PLAN, VERIZON WITH TAKE YOUR MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

I know I love the way Virgin Mobile phones are set up, but unfortunately, because of the technology they run on, they're not compatible with usage on AT&T.
I would look into a different pre-paid phone...there was even another Razr available at one point...I think it's black and priced right around $100....but I can't remember for sure.
As long as the phone is either branded for AT&T (meaning it has the AT&T logo on it) or is listed as being 'unlocked', you're going to be able to use your AT&T SIM card in the phone.
Don't take what I say as being absolute. There's always room for improvement.

  • Whether NO Contract phone needs to be unlocked?

    Hi Friends,
One of my friend is travelling from US to INDIA,so i have pre booked NOKIA LUMIA 1520 NO CONTRACT AT&T mobile phone on nov 21st for ~550$ via microsoftstore, now the shipment is in progress. My friend will receive it in couple of days.
    My questions are:
Since i have ordered a NO contract phone, whether i can use it in INDIA with any GSM provider straight away or i need to unlock it?
If suppose i need to unlock it means, whether i can do it here(INDIA) or i need to ask my friend in US to unlock & bring it here?
what is the difference between contract, No contract & unlocked phones?

    Hi sudhakar1512,
Welcome to the Nokia Support Discussions!
Let's start with differentiating these terms: 'contract', 'no contract' and 'unlocked phone'. When we say Contract phones, these are the phones that you can get by availing your provider's services within a certain period of time, depending on the contract that you've agreed upon. These phones are usually locked and their software has been customized by your operator. Usually, you can see your operator's logo or themes on the phone.
No contract phones are the prepaid phones that you usually purchase from your operator. The phone can either be locked or unlocked. Unlocked phones are the generic phones. They are not factory locked and can be used with another SIM card from another operator.
    To answer your questions:
    1. Since i have ordered a NO contract phone, whether i can use it in INDIA with any GSM provider straight away or i need to unlock it? - There's no guarantee that the phone is unlocked. One way to find out is to insert a SIM card from another provider. If it prompts for a restriction code, you'll know that it is locked.
    2. If suppose i need to unlock it means, whether i can do it here(INDIA) or i need to ask my friend in US to unlock & bring it here? - The restriction code is only provided by the operator to whom the device is tied up with. In case that it is locked, you can ask your friend to coordinate with AT&T for the restriction code.
Additional information that you may like to consider is the supported frequency bands of the device and the country where you intend to use it:
    Lumia 1520 RM-940
    GSM 850/900/1800/1900
    WCDMA 850 900 1900 2100
    LTE bands 2, (1900), 4(1700/2100), 5 (850), 7 (2600), 17 (700)
    INDIA
    GSM 900, GSM 1800
    UMTS 2100
    LTE 2300
Given this information, you have to verify carefully with your Indian operator if they support the frequency bands of your device. Furthermore, LTE connectivity will not be available. Hope this helps.

  • Hi, I' ll be San Antonio from 8-10th of Oct and want to buy an iphone 5. According to forums there is no unlucked yet. Thus, can i get simlocked but not contracted phone from any store? and is that possible to use that phone in Turkey without any prob.

If you purchase the phone at the full contract price and have no term left on your carrier contract, the carrier will unlock it for you. That's what I am doing with AT&T. I'll pay the full purchase price for the phone and since I don't have a contract with them, they will unlock it for you. It can be difficult to get it done since most of their customer service is very ill informed but I have had many discussions with them on their chat that I have records of them stating they will unlock any phone if you do not have an existing contract. It's the law.

  • Can I change my contract phone (contract exspired) to a prepaid phone

I bought a used Verizon GL Envy 3 Postpay contract phone.  THe phone is now without contract.  I was told I can switch it over to a prepaid phone, but when calling Verizon they told me I could not.  I have friends that have done this, so I know it can be done.
THe ESN is clear, I had it checked.  Does anyone know about how to get this done?
    Thanks

If the phone requires a data package on postpaid service (basically if it falls into the 3GMM or smartphone categories), then it cannot be activated on pre-paid service.  The enV3 requires a data package because it is a 3GMM phone, so it cannot be used on prepaid.

  • No Contract Phones?

  • Using coupons on non-contract phones?

If i were to pay the full retail price ($529) on Nexus S, would i be able to the use the 10% off coupon to buy it? It states on the coupon non-contract phones?

By no contract phones, it means PAYG phones, eg. Virgin Mobile or Boost. You are still buying a contract phone -- you're just buying it without a contract.

  • Blackberry 9650 Contract Phone

I recently bought a Blackbery 9650 off a lady but she didnt tell me it was a contract phone is there any way to get it to work with the 80 plan?

80 plan? I'm not sure what you mean by that - an individual plan with minutes and data that totals $80 a month?  A prepaid plan?  (I don't think you can use the Bold on a prepaid plan-or it has to be on a contract plan for 6 months and then you can use it on a pre-paid...I'm not sure)
Is the phone still active on her account?  Is it branded Verizon?  As long as the phone is branded Verizon, and the ESN is "clear" (meaning it's not active on another account, and not listed as lost or stolen) then you should be able to dial *228, choose option 1 and activate it to your account.

  • Line fee discount for off-contract phones

I have three phones off-contract and just switched to the More Everything Plan with 10GB. According to http://www.verizonwireless.com/news/article/2014/04/more-everything-savings-coming.html my off-contract phones should have their line fees discounted by $25 to $15. So far they are still showing at $40. The phone support rep confirmed this info but indicated I would need to actually visit a VZW retail store so they could enter the special discount code. Surely this is not true?
Here's the relevant text from your press release:
No contract. No problem. Verizon Wireless is giving customers the ability to add a smartphone that is not currently under contract to a MORE Everything plan, beginning April 17.   Starting this Thursday, existing customers who are on month-to-month contracts can move to a MORE Everything plan to experience savings immediately. Customers who choose plans with data allowances of 8 GB or below can add a smartphone for $30, a savings of $10, and customers who choose plans with data allowances of 10 GB and above can add a smartphone for $15, a savings of $25.

    From VZW via email --
The promotion you requested for your wireless number has been completed and will be effective starting 05/13/2014. You'll start seeing your discount in your next 1-2 bills and it will continue until you upgrade or renew your service agreement.
    New Promotion Added:

RushFan -- Maximum kudos to you. I got three emails like the above after following your advice. Thank you and stay thirsty, my friend. Aces.
VZW staff -- I appreciate the replies here and I am pleased you guys are on the ball. However, comma, Why weren't these heavily advertised discounts just applied automatically? Why did Rushfan have to point me to something obscurely called "Change Features" to apply a discount I am owed? Please tell me that this would have kicked in automatically. Would it?
Again, thanks to all who tried to help.
