TMS Configuration between systems in different platforms

Hi Gurus!!
We are changing the HW of our EBP 4.0 Systems and now we have a doubt.
We have already change DEV system from NT to AIX 5.3 and we don't know if we can configure the TMS to execute imports of transports requests from AIX (DEV System) to NT (QUA and PROD Systems).
In other systems that we have in AIX, we have the /usr/sap/trans locallly in DEV application server and shared in the rest of application servers (QUA and PROD) but in the case of the mixed platforms, can we share the File System located in AIX to be accesible from NT?
Can anybody help us?
Thank you very much in advanced,
Edorta Ramos.

  • Can i do client export import between systems with different patch levels

we want to do a client export import between two systems. As I understand the patch levels should be the same in both for this to happen..
But right now I am in a situation where time is a big constrant. The basis patch level is on par. But the rest are not. Can I do  client import successfully at this stage.

The only thing that may stop it working could be additional functionality between the systems.
I work on XI and there is a huge difference between SP12 and SP15.  We were able to do the transports between systems, but as Dev was patched before QA, and the transport was reliant on standard settings not being available, it still went though, but we had to transport it again after applying SP15 to QA.
Again, it probably depends on what System you have running on Netweaver...

    Hi Siva,
    Logon to DEV 000 > STMS >
Define the domain controller System DEV or PRD.
Add PRD system into transport domain
Overview Systems > Create > External System
Specify Host name & SID Other parameters of the PRD. DEV will send the request to PRD system to accept the request from the DEV to add into the domain. Logon to the PRD go to STMS accept the request. In DEV system Approve the same.
Now system are in domain. DEV system STMS > Extras Distribute and Activate the configuration. There you have to specify that 2 Systems are in landscape. Specify the DEV as Development  System. PRD as Production System. mention that automatically configure the transport route and distribute.
Transport route Between DEV -> PRD.
While Doing Transportation please follow my earlier reply like:
Custmozing:- Release from DEV 100 and import into DEV 300 (Quality client) and Finally import into PRD with approval.
Workbench:- Release from DEV and import into PRD

  • Can I copy between systems with different R/3 releases/add-ons?

    hi,all
    help me!

Notes 19574 and 24853 provide basic information about this. The main or basic release must always be identical. Support Packages and add-ons should also have the same status in both systems. Only then can the consistency of the data be guaranteed.
For instance, if an add-on is only installed in the source system, the remote copy will terminate with a reference to differences in the dictionary or missing tables in the analysis phase, and will not make the copy.  The remote copy terminates if not all data can be copied, in other words if, for instance, a field is missing in the target system, a field is too small or a complete table is missing. You can include individual tables and, from Release WAS 6.10, also development packages (formerly development classes) in the source system in an exception list, to avoid the termination. See note 557132 for further information.
The export does not experience this problem with the transport because the target system is not checked during the export. On the other hand, differences in the dictionary or missing tables are subsequently reported as errors during the import but this does not result in any termination.  All of the data that can be imported is imported. In this respect, different ADD-ONs would not pose a problem for the client transport. to what extent is the data consistent or useable?

  • Transport Solution Manager configuration between systems

    Hello all,
I created a configuration project for service desk on spro_admin on development environment. Then configured all the basic steps for service desk. Now how can move things to quality system and then to Prodution? Is it enough to create a project transport or do I need anything else? Because when I created a project transport (from spro_admin) it only added a few things to it, not all objects I've customized. My concern is that BC sets for example won't be imported in the other systems or so.
    Any guides on this?

Create a Project Transport? what do you want to do? If there is anything in a Transport request it can be obviously imported into your QAS and to PRD, you need to decide if you have completed the config.

    Hi David,
If you want to copy projects you can use SOLAR_MIGRATION. What do you mean by copying connections? You mean the system Landscape.

  • Synching configuration between ECC and GTS

Is there any way we can automatically synch configuration (e.g.countries, regions) from ECC to GTS?
    Thanks in advance.

Transaction SCU0 lets you compare configuration between systems, based on a number of ways of selecting the items to compare.
I am not sure if it offers any way to build a transport of the differences, or remotely update the target system.  At least it lets you know what is different.

  • The difference between system restore and last good known configuration

    hi,
what is the difference between system restore  and last good known configuration.
in which situation you use system restore ,and in which situation you use last good known configuration.
very short answer wil be enough.
    thanks
    johan
    h.david

Last Known Good Configuration deals only with Starting Windows eg. a bad registry or incorrect driver is preventing Windows to start. It recovers the registry settings of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet
While System Restore uses restore points to return your system files and settings to an earlier point in time without affecting personal files. Restore points are created automatically every week, and just before significant system events, such as the installation
of a program or device driver. You can also create a restore point manually. You can undone system restore but there is no such option in Last Known Good Configuration.
Last Known Good Configuration is disabled in Windows 8 or,Windows 8.1 by default.
Try using Last Known Good Configuration if you can't start Windows, but it started correctly the last time you turned on the computer.
Try using System Restore to return the system to an earlier point in time when things worked correctly.

  • Problem Configuring Single-System TMS in new install of SM 7.1

Going through post install steps of new Solution Manager 7.1 system; SID is SMV
Follwed the instructions to set up the Transport Management System in Client 000.  The consistency check returns all green checkmarks.
User TMSADM exists in client 000, Profiles TP_DOMAIN_SMV.PFL and TP_DOMAIN_SMV.BAK exist along with DEFAULT.CFG in usr\sap\trans\bin.
STMS config created RFC's TMSADM-SMV.DOMAIN_SMV and TMSSUP-SMV.DOMAIN_SMV, and they both pass the "Connection Test".  ("@" replaced by "-" in this message so they don't look like E-Mail addresses)
Used SM59 to create an RFC for SMV that passes the "Connection Test"
However, using SOLMAN_SETUP, the step to "Check TMS Configuration" fails with message "No valid RFC destination exists for system SMV"
    2 questions:
    1. Does that matter?
    2. How can I get a green light on this check?
Thanks in advance for your time and consideration.

    Hi Nicholas,
I'm not sure.  The only thing I know for sure is that it is 7.1
I attempted to do the update, and got to the screen where it would take me from ISS (initial) to SPS03, so I guess the answer is no, we're not on SP03.
I have not been able to accomplish the update because my version of SPAM is not quite up-to-date.  I downloaded a later version of SPAM but it got put into my download basket as requiring approval.  If I understand it correctly, Maintenance Optimizer is the tool I need to approve it, but that transaction isn't yet available in our system.  So I'm trying to figure that out right now.
I haven't finished all of the Post Install activities yet, as you can see from this thread, and apparently those are necessary before updating to SPS03.
As you can see, I'm a rookie at basis, but I'm all there is here.  My 10 years of SAP Development haven't prepared me for the dark side of SAP.
    Thanks Nicholas.

  • Distributed File System Replication between servers with different performance

If Distributed File System Replication is set between servers with different performance. What will happen with the performance of the fastest server? Will the performance decrease to match the performance of the
slowest server in the chain? I mean, will the source slow down (processor speed) if the recipients can't keep up?

    Hi,
If you mix different performance server for DFS replication, most of improvements on the fastest server are disabled for backwards compatibility and the performance decrease to match the performance of the slowest server.

  • Single System Landscape on Different Platforms

    Hi All,
Is it possible to install one single system landscape on different platforms??
For instance, can I install Quality and Development systems on WIndows with Oracle Database and Production system on AIX with DB2 Database? All these systems belong to a single system landscape.
Is it possible? If it is possible, has someone done it and can i find the docs for that in service market place?
    Thanks,
    Vadivelan.N

    Hi Nick,
We are planning to go with the two server landscape .
    Our current scenario is ,
    1. Solution manager on windows & Oracle.
    2. DEV & QA on windos and oracle or AIX / DB2. and
    3. Production on AIX & DB2.
We wanted to know what will be the technical difficulties which we might face in future if we proceed if DEV & QA is in one platform and PRD in another platform,
    Eg,
Some issues might occur in DEV & QA but not in PROD.
I might not be able to replicate some DB related issues or kernel issue..
    Issues/impacts like these.

  • Data guard between different platforms?

I'm pretty sure the answer is no but just want to be sure, so my question is...Can you have a data guard physical standby server that is running on a different platform than the primary?

Thanks. This would follow the same rule that both, primary and standby must run on the same platform and o/s. So I guess, the answer would be that you would need to move both of your servers. But, just to be assure, you should raise the same question on the dedicated forum of dataguard where product manager of DG , Larry Carpenter hangs around as well. That would be the place where I would ask my data guard doubts.
