TMS configuration - Transports between clients

Hi Experts,
I have an ECC system on which I would like to configure 3 clients.  Client 400 for DEV, client 500 for QA, and client 600 for PRD.
I would like to configure TMS so that I will be able to transport directly from 400 to 500 and from 500 to 600.
Could anyone tell me if this is possible and (if so) how it should be done?  Could you take me through the process?
Many thanks,
Aldo

u2022     Improved import controls
If you work with extended transport control, you can import requests into different clients in a system without using  unconditional modes.
When you first import a request into a system, all the objects are imported completely. Any subsequent imports into other clients in the system only import client-specific components.
This makes it possible to set up consolidation routes and delivery routes between different clients in the same system.
Hope this helps!

  • TMS configuration  for multi-clients in one system

    Hi All,
we have got some problem defining transport routes in stms in transport domain...
We have to add to target group for one system 6 clients:3 clients with the dev/test roles for country X and 3 clients with dev/test roles for country Y.
Transport requests have to route only between clients for defined country (only for country X or only for country Y, must not mix).
How i can get status when transport requests will route in one system only between clients of country X (or only for country Y)?
Should i define two target groups and add to one group 3 clients for X and to the second 3 clinets for Y? I am not sure that it is enough. May be exists a lot of other options/ actions?
Where is garanthy that requets from country X will not mixed with requests from Y?
    Thanks a lot.

    > The SSO is working fine for only the client which we used to import the certificate (verify.der).
    > 1>Is it that the certificate import should be done from all the clients exclusively ?
Logon ticket certificate is instance wide, not client dependent. And you need to call STRUSTSSO2 in client 000 to export/import.
    > And the SSO is not working for other clients  in the same system .
    > 2>If yes  can you tell the procedure, why b'coz transaction STRUSTSSO2 is same for all clients and if we try to import the certificate again how about the existing one over there ?
Could you provide more details about this issue you're facing? What is the Portal UME source? What application is it based on, BI or ESS/MSS?

  • How to configure TMS landscape using three clients of same system?

    Hi All,
I have to design a prototype for linking satellite systems to Solution Manager. To work on the Change Request Management module of Solution Manager.
Here, I need a Development - Quality - Production landscape to be configured to link it to Solution Manager, but I have only one system available to do this.
I have the clients 410, 420 and 430 in the system XYZ. Now, how do I simulate the three system landscape in STMS for the three clients mentioned above.
I tried using many attempts, but it is not working out. I could figure it out that this is possible by activating "extended transport control" parameter for each system, in STMS.
Also, there are some specific needs to configure this landscape for linking to Solution Manager, the comments are shown below:
"Transports are supported in the standard transport layer of each client. When you configure transport routes, note that only consolidation routes that are assigned to the standard transport layer of the relevant exporting client are taken into consideration. For each exporting client, exactly one target client and one target group are permitted.
We recommend that you assign exactly one development system to a production system, and that these two systems are connected by exactly one unique transport track.
If a development system and a production system are connected by more than one transport track, this may lead to inconsistencies within the transport distribution.
This type of transport configuration cannot be supported by Change Request Management, and may cause inconsistencies within the tools involved."
Please suggest me, as how to proceed to configure STMS for the same.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Error in STMS - The TMS configuration is inconsistent

    Hi gurus,
Yesterday I installed the SAP Solution Manager 7.0 SP14 with S.O. Win 2003 server and D.B. Oracle 10.2.0.4 version.
When I tried to configure the STMS I´m facing with a problem... the system send me a error "The TMS configuration is inconsistent" and when I open the error details it show me a information "tp configuration note completely distributed"... I search a lot to find a valid solution for this and I don´t have sucess, I don´t achieve a answer / suggest that solve this error...
Please give your suggestion to resolve this issue as snow as possible.
    Thanks in advance
    Best regards,

    Hi,
Please check the Note 1144208 - TMS Tendering: Inconsistent tendering template
Settings under the Transport Management System do follow the steps.
All the below settings has to be done in satellite system not solution manager
    1.     Define Transport Routes for System Landscape
    Go to Transaction STMS
    Choose Overview -> Systems.
      Double-click each system.
The Display TMS Configuration: System <system ID> screen appears.
Select the Transport Tool tab page.
If the entry CTC does not appear in the Parameters column, enter it there, and then in the Value column, enter 1.
    Save your entries.
    Configure Transport Strategy
    Go to Stms Transaction
Go to Menu Overview  Transport Route
    Doule click on Each System
In the Transport strategy group box, select Single transports
(since only Import Single and Import Project All are used).
In the Quality assurance group box, deselect Delivery after confirmation
    1.     Choose Continue.
    Activate TMS Trusted Services
    Go to Stms Transaction
    Choose Overview -> Systems.
    Choose Goto -> Transport domain.
    In Management Tab
    In Security Options group box
    Click on Trusted Services Active
    Go to QA Approval Procedure
You should not assign any QA approval system there
    Save your Entries
    Call Transaction STMS.
Choose Overview  Systems. The system overview appears.
Choose SAP System  Create  Domain link.
The dialog box Request for Linking 2 Domains appears.
Enter the system name, host name and system number of the domain controller you want to link to, and then confirm your entries.
Your SAP System performs the following actions automatically:
o     Generates the required RFC destinations.
o     Sends the address data of the controller to the controller in the other domain.
You can now see that you have requested the domain link to the other domain in the system overview.
Click the Distribute and Activate TMS Configuration ICON on the Application Toolbar
After that Go to SAP System  Check   Connection Test, transport directory and transport tool
Check all once whether it is having inconsistency.
    4.Check Configuration of Transport Domain
Log on to every domain controller that is connected to your transport landscape.
    Call transaction STMS
Apart from the information "You are logged onto the domain controller", you should not be able to see other messages or warnings.
Generate RFC Destinations to Client 000
    Call Transaction SMSY.
    Go To Landscape Components
    Go to your Satellite System
Click on the Domain Controller System
In the Right side Tab strip, Click on the Clients, Select 000 client Click on RFC generate Button
Give the User name for Read Access and Change Manager
Click the OK Button to Continue
    Add Import Authorization to Operator/Administrator
Make sure that the operator and administrator users in client 000 of the target systems have the same name as their user in the Solution Manager   system.
Assign import authorization to the operator and administrator users in client 000 of the target systems (SAP_CHANGEMAN_OPERATOR and SAP_CHANGEMAN_ADMIN roles).

  • TMS Configuration problem - SET_CODEPAGE_FAILED

I have just installed a new system "CRM 7.0/NW 7.01".  The first thing I am doing is configuring TMS in client 000.  When I try to distribute the configuration I get an error:    TMS Configuration could not start transport control program TP.  SET_CODEPAGE_FAILED.

  • TMS configuration problem

    Hello everybody,
I had install the IDES ECC 6.0, Now i want to configure the TMS then I have planned the client like
    800->customizing
500->backup (means only copy the change request)
550-->Quality (Same as backup but here i will test all the configuration)
    600-->PRD( like final producion)
    Then, How to configure TMS?
which transport route is set and hows?
when i am trying to configure then i get message like
Delivery with source system IDS & source client 800 not allowed
Will anybody please send the step by step proceudure to configure the right TMS configuration
    Thanks
    Ganesh

    Hi,
I am bit cofused about the client, are these clients in same system or different systems, if the clients are in same system, then
Any way you will save the customizing changes you have done under a change request number, then login into the client which was present in same system and execute the t-code SCC1, here you have to select the change request number that you wanted to import from other cleint and the source client number and execute, the changes will be transferred into this cleint(note: this was case when both clients in same system).
If you wanted the change request to be transported into client which was in other system(you need TMS configured by now), the you have to release the change request in the source system client and using STMS you can trasnsport the change requests to the target system into tghose clients, you need to trasnport this way to all cleints in target system.(Note: once change request is released you cannot add any modification in that Change request, need to create new request again)
for backup of your customizing cleint, make a new client in source system and using local client copy process you can have backup of your customizing client(decide local cleint copy frequency yourself for this), if you wanted to take backup into some other system you can do it by remote client copy.
apart form your SAP level backup, you should always backup your entire system onto tape or some other system ikn co-ordination with your IT team.

If you have only one R/3 with two active clients
create virtual two virtual systems for the two clients
then build the transport route between these two virtual systems

  • Difference between clients.

    Hello all,
I have a basic question here.
What is the difference between clients in a system.
For example we are having 120, 600 and 700 clients in DEV
What type of data is stored in those clients. Will the data be different. Since programs are client independent can I do modifications to my programs in 600 and 700 clients.
Why the name SILVER and GOLD to the clients??
    Please explain.

    Hi Naren,
Client strategies vary from place to place. But one thing to understand is that a client is SAP's way of logically seperating data. In the underlying database, though, it will be just one table holding all the data for all the clients within the same server.
There are repository objects and some configuration tables that are cross-client or client-independent. In the basis configuration, there is a setting where they configure each client to be modifiable, non-modifiable and if modifiable, whether client-dependent modification are allowed or client-independent modifications are allowed.
So, if they allow it, you can do your programs anywhere. But one more factor to consider is the transport layer. This is again configuration dependent on client. So if you are making changes in client that is not on the transport path, then you will have tough time getting it into higher systems.
GOLD, SILVER etc are typically terminology used for representing the importance of the client. Typically Golden client is one which is like a vault, where you move all your tested configuration and client-dependent activities and leave it there. This will only be used if there is a need for restore or creating a brand new client. All other clients in development system will either be constantly changing or refreshed periodically. There will be lot test data also. So you need a client that is clean from all this garbage and that is your golden client. I have to admit that I didn't hear SILVER being used anywhere, but it may be on similar lines.
Clients are dedicated to development, configuration, crash-and-burn, unit testing and golden client. It is not necessary to have all these, but most often they use this landscape in development systems.
In production systems, different clients are used to seggregate access and data.
    Hope this helps,
    Srinivas

  • Questions on scripts, tables & transfer objects between clients.

    Hi!
    3. With SE01, you can create a transport request for all table entries.
SE01 - Create button - Workbench request - Give description and save
Select the created request and click on Display object list.
Click on Display - Change button
    Insert line button
    ProgID: R3TR
    Object: TABU
    Object name: Z_YOUR_TABLE
Double click on the table name
    Insert line
    Key: *
    Save everything
Release the transport in SE10 transaction and transport with STMS transaction.

  • What exactly is the diff between client dependant and client independant te

    Hi gurus,
What is the diff between client independant and client dependant term.. I initially had a confusion related to client independant and client dependant Transport requests, where else are these words applicable, do they apply to data as well, if so how? any links to help me understand the difference..
    regards,
    kishore

    Hi Kishore,
Client Independant: These objects are not specific to any client. And it is universal which can be viewed, changed across the clients.
Client Dependant: These are the objects can be viewed, changed for the client for which it has been assigned. Other clients do not have access on these objects.
In SAP, all objects are finally stored as tables. "Mandt" is key field which determines whether the object is client dependant or not.
Client Independant transport requests will make the transported objects available across the clients. and Client dependent transport request make the objects available only for the client mentioned by field "Mandt"

  • How to Download Configuration in Golden Client

    Hi All,
How to Download Configuration in Golden Client.
Please help me in this regards.
    Regards
    Deekshitha.

    Deekshitha,
All the configuration you have made will be assigned to a customizing request. You can view these requests in transaction SE10.
You will have to first release these requests (only the ones you require). Then the basis settings for your system will define to which client these request will move.
When requests are transported, all the related config will move to other systems.
Please contact your basis team as this is a very important process.
    Thanks,
    Srihari
