TMS import sequence

When importing with the icon to import all requests I have run into situations where a set of transports need to be imported in the sequence they are in the list.  They start in the desired order, but occasionally the first in the set will take longer to complete than a later one in the set and it is overwritten.  Is there any way to control the completion sequence beside manually submitting them one by one to make sure the go in the desired order?

Hi,
In my company, we consider the "import all" icon so dangerous that we have deactivated it...

  • How Best to Import iPhone 4 video into Premier Pro CS5 - Settings for new import "sequence preset"?

Shooting video with my iPhone 4 (ATT version) and am trying to import file into Premiere Pro CS5 (5.0.3) running on Macintosh OS 10.6.6.
The problem is that I am simply guessing on how to import sequence, and the result is that I am getting motion artifacts and generally inferior quality.  I am using iMovie 11 as my basis for comparison.   Not surprisingly, iMovie 11 imports from iPhone beautifully, but when I've looked around inside of it for properties, there isn't much to see.
From using Apple's built in quicktime "inspector,"  it is possible to see that iPhone4 video has following properties:

Seeking advice on how to smoothly and *losslessly* import/ingest iphone4 footage into PPro CS5.  (I am not worried about exporting for iPhone display, which is what most of the information I can find relates to).
    Thanks in advance,  Michael

    Wow.  Thanks Colin.
When I follow your approach, I don't get the same "sequence preset" dialog box popping up.
FU question, though, the motion is frequently jagged.  Is there a way to smooth out/increase the quality of the rendering?    I have 16gb ram, Mac Pro.   which is able to handle iPhone video rending fine in quicktime.   (I've tried rendering for "performance" and "memory" but both seem to produce, eh results.).

  • After Effects CC import "Sequence Footage" frame rate settings in "Import" preferences

Just started using the new AE CC (v12 as Adobe will not refer to it as) I noticed one thing that seems to work differently from CS6 and that is in the preferences for import Sequence footage settings.  It doesn't seem to work normally, at least for me.  I don't know if this is an issue related to how AE CC works with the cloud but the dfault frame rate for sequence footage importing is 30fps.  I am trying to import footage that is natively 23.97 at 24 fps.  So like in CS6 I go to Preferences - Import - Sequence Footage - frame per second and change it from 30 to 24 frames per second.  Closed the software, opened it back up, checked the settings and saw that they took, it still says 24 frames per second like I told it.  But when I import a piece of 23.976 footage, it comes in at 23.976 as opposed to the 24 fps I set it as.  Same goes for 30 fps footage, it comes in at 30 fps and not 24.  User error is always my first assumption, I'm not proud i just want it to work, am I doing something wrong or just confused?  Thanks for any help.  p.s.  help is not someone responding with, "I don't know" or "I don't have AECC yet".  I know somebody is going to!

    Hi Tim,
WOW!  Thanks for the super-fast reply!  As soon as I posted this I realised I should have mentioned that I am importing DPX files.  I do import quicktimes as well but know that the footage import does not apply to a single file, only a sequence of files.  But I still wonder if I may be either doing something wrong or am just a little confused.  I have been using After Effects since CS3 doing compositing for film and I always use DPX sequences.  I did a bunch of comparing and back and forth with AE CS6 and AECC while trying to figure this out.  I always set my preferences up when I upgrade before I start working and I always set them up the same.  I have been using CS6 since last July and it still works the same.  What I did is imported five or six different DPX sequences, some were rendered out as 24 fps, some at 30 and some at 23.976.  Assuming AE looks at the metadata to decide how to auto interpret, AE CC opened them all at their native frame rates of the just mentioned 24, 30 and 23.976 respectively, even though I told it to import at 24fps in the preferences.  I also imported the same files in AE CS6 and they all opened at 24 fps like always.  I know I can change the frame rate in the "Interpret footage" option, that is what I have been doing today so that I can work with footage in 24fps but since I have it set in the preferences to import image sequences at 24fps, I am perplexed as to why it does not do so, so I do not have to interpret the footage to my preferred frame rate, as is the case in AE CS6 as well as it was in CS 5.5 and CS 3.  Since I was lucky enough to have an Adobe employee chime in Tim, I would be curious to see what you may find if you recreated this scenario.  Would it be possible for you or someone at Adobe to set the sequence footage import frame rate to 24 fps in the preferences then try to open a piece of footage that is natively 23.976 fps in both AE CS6 and AE CC?  Like I said, I certainly beleive I may be doing something wrong but I would be very curious to see what you find on your side.  I would not be suprised if it imported at 24 fps in AE CS6 and 23.976 fps in AE CC.

  • Import sequence files from 29.976 to 23.976....HELP!

    Hi All,
Can someone help me with this very annoying issue.
I work with Nuke X, Assimilate Scratch and  Maya.  99% of the time I am transfering image sequence files from program to program.
When I import a sequence file into premiere cs5 or even cs4, the sequence comes in with a DEFAULT FRAME RATE of 29.976.
I work in 24 or 23.976 frame projects. I ALWAYS have to go Rick click/Modify/ interpret footage and change to 23.976.
Is there a way to set up cs5 to assume 23.976  as a default frame rate for image sequences?
    Also, Part two question:
I bought a video card that uses the MPE in cs5 and it works great. I could layer the heck out of the timelime.
But Only if the footage is from RED, Canon, quicktime, mpeg, etc.. If I  import my image sequence files, I DO NOT get fluid playback.
Does anyone out there get fluid playback from targas, DPX, Tiffs?
    Thanks,
    Lou

Holy Crap ! You Did it!!!
I have been changing that freakin thing from 29.976 to 23.976 , ten times a day, for 2 years.
I can 't believe it has been sitting there all that time. Then again, I wrote on Creative cow forum a while back, and nobody knew how to fix that.
    So...... you D Man
    A bug in CS5?
Yeah that figures,  Of course it would be a bug in importing  sequences. Just my luck.
I bought the new Mocha 2.0 which now has NUKEX importing.....
I spent 3 days trying to figure out why my timeline was off by 1 frame when importing....
Found out "Its a Bug" and had to wait for 2.01
My whole life is all about updates.

  • Importing sequences and encoding

    Hello,
I've imported two sequences from two different projects into another project and am encoding them as one project. It's 17 minutes total and the video is fine, but, I'm not getting any audio on what I'm producing (MPEG 2). All the settings look fine and I'm getting audio when I scrub from the timeline window??????
    Help!
    Jessica

    Hi,
I want to export it just so I can preview the two sections together. I'm producing a documentary and I've split it up into 5 sections which I'm working on in different projects. My thought was to import all the finished projects (sections) into one master project and then produce it from there. Is that not a good way to do things? I'd love suggestions to the contrary.
So, I had two contiguous sections completed and I wanted to export them just so I could view them, not to reimport, and I ran into the problem of the imported sequences not producing with audio.
I guess I need to know what gets imported when you import a sequence from another project. Where is the audio? Also, what settings are for multiplexing on the encoder?
Thanks for your time and help all.

  • Importing sequence issues

    I have a 60 layer photoshop file.
I exported each layer from photoshop into it's own file with a script.
The files are all called smooth and a padded numerically such as
    smooth01.psd
    smooth02.psd
    smooth03.psd
    and so on.
I want Motion to import these as a sequence but when I try to import them the option to import them as a sequence is grey out and not available. I've tried different formats and different labeling but nothing seems to work. Any ideas why motion does not see these as a sequence? Sometimes it imports sequences just fine. I'm struggling to figure out the differences on why it's being picky.
    Thanks.
    -Fraky

You need to add one more numerical place to your names.
    smooth01 -> smooth 001
I know, why, thats the way it works.
btw make sure you have the see files as sequences icon on in the bottom of the browser with in Motion.

  • Importing Sequences from After Effects CC 2014 into Premiere

Before the update to cc 2014, I was easily able to import After Effects comps into Premiere using "Import" in Premiere. I would select an AE project to import, and it would ask me which sequences inside that project I wanted to import. Worked perfectly. This was just a couple weeks ago.
NOW, I go to import sequences from an AE project and it only shows ONE sequence out of however many I may have. This has happened twice so far. Quitting & reopening both programs didn't do anything. Has something changed with the update?

Dynamic Link only works between After Effects and Premiere Pro if the applications are of the same version---i.e., both CC 2014 versions.

  • The new Import Sequence feature causes Premiere Pro CC to CRASH!

*** This was happening before the update, and the update to 7.01 has not fixed this issue.***
I have a series of intros and end slates for a YouTube series.  I (kind of) love the new Import Sequence from Project feature, new in PPr CC.  But more often than not, trying to import a sequence from another project using the Media Browser causes Premiere to crash.  Can anyone else report whether this is NOT working for you, too.  I can imagine scenarios where you either don't use this feature, or haven't gotten around to it since the launch of CC.
Thanks in advance for anyone who is willing to test and verify whether this is a bug.
    Win7 64-bit
    ASUS g75vx Laptop
    i7-3630qm
    NVIDIA GTX-670mx, 3GB GDDR5
    16GB RAM

Well, certainly one of my sequences (let's call it "A") always causes a crash.  Sequence B was NOT causing a crash last week.  Today sequence B started crashing (in 7.0).  So I updated to 7.01 and tried again.  Still crashing (always, now).  So I set out to create a new sequence C.
To create sequence C, I opened a successfully completed project from last week.  I Saved As... "New Opening Sequences".  Next, I cut away every sequence except for the sequence that holds the intro.  I did a Project > Remove Unused to get rid of all the footage, titles, etc.  Now I had a project that only contained Sequence C and it's linked media.  Nothing is offline.  Everything is in tact.
Finally, I open the project I need to finish today.  I need to add the bumper to the front of the video.  So I navigate within the Media Browser to find the "New Opening Sequences" project.  I double click.  I get the yellow, dynamic link-like loading bar.  When the project media, bins and sequences appear, I double-click the sequence I want to impor.... KKKKKEHEHHE!!!  Crash.
I'll restart to get you the exact error message...
WOW!!!  I just left this window open to go get the exact error message for you.  I went through the same steps above.  It worked this time.  So to answer your question, Sequence C is also hit or miss.  This is the first successful attempt today (about 10 previous tries, restarts, etc).
Definitely seems like a bug.  Can anyone else reproduce this crash?
P.S. - Perhaps it's significant, perhaps not:  In all cases, A, B and C, these sequences have Dynamic Linked footage from After Effects (animations).  While they do have some live-action, they are primarily AE animations.  This may help you reproduce the crash.
I'm also not running anything unusual.  Mainly the OS, a browser, Webroot SecureAnywhere (Anti-virus), Premiere.

  • Import Sequence Settings instead of 'Match Sequence Settings'?

Hi, we have the following problem with Premiere Pro and Media Encoder (English CS5, German MacOS):
We film with Sony EX3 in Germany, so our media are always 1920x1080, 25fps, progressive, square pixels. We produce for streaming video, with differing resolutions and bandwith, but always 25fps, progressive, square pixels, H.264. Often we have to encode intermediate files for our Premiere/After Effects workflow (typically Quicktime Animation or MPEG2).
On export, Media Encoder defaults to Quicktime PAL DV (in CS4 it defaulted to Quicktime NTSC DV). As a result, we always have to enter the complete data: Codec, resolution, pixel aspect ratio, fps, field type, etc.
Now I heard of the "Match Sequence Settings" option in AME and already rejoiced. As it seems, too early. When checking that checkbox, everything becomes locked and cannot be adjusted. Even when sending it from Premiere to the queue in AME, I am not allowed to adjust the settings there. The "Settings" button is locked.
So all parameters, and even the Codec is locked in. As it seems, mostly MPEG I-Frame. But never H.264
This renders the function rather useless to us. Instead of "Match Sequence Settings" it would have been so much more useful to have an "Import Sequence Settings" option/function, with the ability to adjust them further.
Can this be achieved otherwise? Is there any hope that Adobe adds this option? What would I have to do to make that request (plea) noticed at Adobe?
    Kind regards,
    Andreas

Hi Jeff, thank you for the information.
It took a while, but then I realized that the preset you mention comes (only) with a few selected formats:
    - MPEG2-DVD
    - MPEG2-Blu-ray
    - FLV/F4V
    - H.264 Blu-ray
However, it does not come along with, e.g. Quicktime, MPEG2, H.264 which are the Formats we usually work with.
    1. Any chance with Quicktime?
    2. Are there restrictions when chosing MPEG2-DVD or H.264 Blu-ray instead of MPEG or H.264?
    Regards,
    Andreas

  • Iphoto import sequencing

I have a dvd containing 725 photos arranged in the desired sequence. I desire to make a slideshow; however, when I import the photos to iPhoto they do not appear in the desired sequence. How do I manage to import the photos as they are sequenced on my dvd?

I moved the images to my hard drive as suggested and moved them all into one folder. The images import to i Photo in the proper order; however, when I create the new album, the images appear in a random order. I have tried to sort by title, date, keyword and rating. Sometimes the images in the folder resort, but not to the desired import sequence.
I note that the images in the original folder 1 are numbered 00729.s.8...a5001.jpg through 00815.s.8...a5113.jpg. The first numbers, 00729.s.8 ascend sequentially through 00815.s.8. The second numbers, a5001.jpg, ascend sequentially but are randomly replaced by designators such as 012_z.jpg, 022_z.jpg, etc.
Any ideas as to how I can get the images to appear in the desired order? Thanks.

  • Cannot import sequences from Adobe Premier Pro CC

The import of a PP CC project does not work. I cannot import sequences from Premiere Pro CC : the dynamic link start but nothing occurs.
I hope that I shall have not to rebuilt my project with Premiere Pro CS 6.
Thanks in advance for your assistance.

    Hi,
Many thanks for your very quick reply.
My english is not very good, but if I understood, I must :
    - import sequences within AME CS6,
    - encode or convert the sequences inside AME,
    - import the result inside AE,
    - transcode within AE then finish the disc or the job.
    Am I right ?

  • How do I avoid duplicates when importing sequences?

We're doing lots of collaborative editing at our company and just switched from FCP7 to premiere.  We're able to import sequences into projects just fine, but a HUGE problem arises with duplicates.  Each sequence we import brings in new master clips in the Project window, even though all that media already exists in the project.  If I delete it, the media disappears from the sequences that use it.
    WHY!!!!?
I assume this is user error.  We're still learning the software and collectively agree that this can't possibly be how Premiere is designed to operate.  What are we doing wrong, and how can we avoid balooning our project files each time we want to consolidate our editors' work?

While I'm *really* looking forward to seeing the reality of Adobe Anywhere, it currently poses more questions than we have answers for, including how much horse power the server and central storage systems are going to need.  Even for a small shop with 3 edit bays I can see the server becoming pretty sluggish rendering all the frames that need to be sent to the clients, especially once effects are added.  And... what happens when some one decides it's time to export with some plugins that take all the CPU/GPU time up?    And then.... is this going to be included in the next Production Premium or is there going to be a massive premium added on top making it uneconomic for smaller shops?
Until we know more.... we'll just have to keep editing individually and merging projects as needed.
    -- back on topic ---
As I said above, if you are importing projects from other editors it would not normally duplicate the footage.  If it's still doing it then there may be some path issues in the copied project.  In order to 'fix' those issues you can open the copied project they sent first (as a project, not as an import), reconnect all the media to your local media (this is usually just one or two clicks) then save it.   Now go back to your master project and import the sequence as before.  Because your copied project is now already connected to your local media it should not need to duplicate them.
If it's STILL duplicating footage than perhaps you need to give us more specifics.....

  • Pr CS6 won't connect to DL server when importing sequence

Pr CS6 will no longer import sequences from another Pr project. The Import Premiere Pro Sequence dialog box opens and at the bottom it reads "Connecting to Dynamic Link server..." and stays that way for about 1-2 minutes. Afterward, in that same text location, it reads "Connecting to Dynamic Link server failed." Clearly Dynamic Link is broken (at least on my system: Windows 7 x64 Ultimate), since my AME also doesn't work when I send a job to it from Pr via Queue. It says it can't find the project file, even though it is there, but failure seems to be with Dynamic Link in that instance as well. This all USED TO WORK FINE, until apparently an update broke something. So much for interoperability.
Is anyone else seeing this issue?
    UPDATE:
I have resolved this problem, thanks to another poster on this forum who discovered it. It was the NVidia nView Desktop Manager applet that was breaking dynamic link. I think it has been enabled for a long time, so perhaps a recent CS6 update broke dynamic link in conjunction with nView, but at any rate, disabling the nView Desktop Manager applet solved the issues with dynamic link. I can now import sequences from other projects and use AME to queue jobs. Yay!
Hope this helps others. If you have an NVIDIA graphics card (Quadro, etc.) this may be the solution.

    Mark,
Sure! When I open Creative Cloud on my desktop, on the Home screen, there is an Activity Stream. On that stream it lists what apps have been updated and when. I have an entry that says "You updated Premiere Pro CS6 46 days ago" and a little later another one that says "You updated Premiere Pro CS6 98 days ago" then another one that says "You updated Premiere Pro CS6 Family 170 days ago", etc., etc., These are, of course, mixed in with other updates to my other apps in the MC (e.g., Ae, Ps, In, Fl). Since I knew that the last time DL worked was about 130 days ago (when I completed my last project using DL between Pr and AME), then I could see that (based upon the above), that Adobe had updated my Pr CS6 at least twice since that time.
I do not recall messing with nView, and don't know why I would have anyway, but can't say for certain that I didn't enable it during that time. However, there is definitely an issue between DL and NVIDIAs nView applet that should be resolved by the two of you, especially since the card I'm using is 'approved' by Adobe, and I used the Adobe specs to build my system around CS6.
But any credit for this solution should go to the lone poster who actually discovered it back in July, gagneh, in his post here: NVidia nView incompatible with AME & PPR (Connecting to Dynamic Link Server timeout). Perhaps you or someone should post a sticky (if possible) to this issue for NVIDIA users with a descriptive search friendly title. There is really no telling how many of your users are suffering because of this, judging from the sheer number of posts I've been through on this forum dealing with Dynamic Link issues.
    Cheers,
    Shane

  • Import sequence of frames into photoshop animation...ready to play.

Hi guys, is there any way to get a sequence of frames into Photoshop and have the layer visibility set up to play straight away ?
What I mean is, I'm using Bridge to import ....Tools > Photoshop > Load Files into Photoshop layers, and was wondering if the frame visibility could be automatically set to play the animation.
Currently all the layers come in visible and I have to "Alt" click the layer visiblity in each frame....can be a pita with large anims.
It would be cool if I imported frames 1 to 50 and PS set them up to play in order as imported.
    thanks

It is....and one until now I wasn't aware of
