TMS server and WinSXS - HD space issues

I was wondering if anyone else is having a problem with disk space on their TMS servers?  I'm running TMS 14.4.2 on a virtual server, and my hard drive is filling up with various files.  I have gone in an deleted some old software versions from the TMS folder, but the big culprit is my Windows directory!  It is currently at 25GB and growing - inetpub and winsxs are the problem folders.
Various windows forums say that there isn't anything you can do about the files in winsxs, and Cisco TAC advised me to carefully remove some files from the inetpub folder (subfolder Logs).  Am I the only one having these issues?
The TMS installation guide states that only 4GB of disk space is required for the application footprint, but doesn't say what the recommended harddrive size is.  Let me clarify this, however - I'm using an external SQL database - NOT local.
My TMS server has been acting odd lately, and I have had to restart some services from time to time, or do a full reboot.  I'm quite certain that my VM server is running as per Cisco's recommendations:
Cisco TMS can be installed in a virtualized server environment as long as the virtual machine is allocated
sufficient dedicated resources to meet the server and hardware requirements for installation. The resources
allocated to the Cisco TMS server instance must be dedicated, and not shared with other server instances.
My OS is Windows Server 2008 R2 Standard, Service Pack 1., 7GB RAM, Intel Xeon CPU E5-2670 0 @ 2.60 GHz 2.60 GHz, 64 bit.
If you have any feedback or suggestions, I'd appreciate it.

Would be interesting to know which HD size you provisioned and how much free space you have left now. I always recommend around or more than 100GB for the C: drive then you most like have no stress.
Storage is cheap, trouble you have now is stressful.
Many strange symptoms of TMS can be fixed by deinstalling and reinstalling TMS (and TMSPE if used) connecting the same DBs afterwards
As you use an external database, what you could do is to stop the old TMS, install a new windows server and TMS and then reconnect to the same database. If you do not trust you windows nor the TMS install.
(also possibe, deinstall tms on the old one, resize the partition, reinstall TMS).
This guide is a bit older but might help you here as well:

Sure, strangeness of TMS could also be an issue with the DB, OS, something in your network, ...

  • First cluster - Server 2012 r2 - storage spaces issues

    Hi Everyone
We just purchased two new servers (Lenovo RD640's) and an external SAS JBOD enclosure (the Lenovo SA120), and we would like to set up a 2012 r2 failover cluster with clustered storage spaces as the shared storage.  Currently they are
on their own domain with the virtual active directory server residing locally on one of the servers.
Preface: I've created and destroyed the cluster and storage spaces multiple times trying to solve this issue, so I don't know if I may have "leftovers" from those attempts now causing issues for me.
I can create the cluster, and it passes validation, and can create a clustered storage pool, but every time I try to create a virtual disk (either through the Failover cluster manager, the server manager, or powershell), it won't attach.  If
I try to manually attach it I get the message: "Error attaching or detaching virtual disk: Failed to attach virtual disk to <node name>. Access denied"
Finally (and I don't know if this is related or not), when in storage spaces on the server manager, there is a gold banner at the top that says "Incomplete communication with cluster <cluster name>. The following cluster nodes or clustered roles
might be offline or have connectivity issues: <cluster name>"
I'm logged in with full domain administrator credentials, and have been running my head against this wall for a few days now.  Any help would be appreciated!

Thanks for your responses. Here is what I have to report:
When I destroy the cluster, and create the storage spaces on just one of the two servers (with the other server powered down), I'm able to create the storage pool - using all the HDDs and SSDs - and virtual disks (both tiered and non-tiered) without issue.
As soon as I create the cluster again, the virtual disks become "detached", and I'm back to the situation described initially.
@Apamnapat, here's the output of the powershell commandlets you suggested:

  • NAC guest server and guest proxy filtering issue.

    Hi all
Continuing our issues log for the NAC guest server install, our toplogy and issue is as follows:
We have a guest NAC server and a 4404 anchor controller successfully deployed in the DMZ, the anchor WLC has a mobilty anchor which is a WISM on the corporate network, DHCP services for guest clients are issued with no problems from the WLC in the DMZ. The first port of the DMZ controller is located on the DMZ and the second port directly connects to the firewall interface.
All works correctly, DNS, DHCP, NTP, SNMP etc all work fine through the firewall.
What options do I have to filter Internet access in this scenario, we have Websense and Nokia firewalls, don't think I can use WCCP as I have nowhere to place it, the second connection on the WLC is directly connected to the firewal so nowhere to intercept the traffic, our security team has tried some tricks on the Nokia to try to redirect the traffic on the firewall using a type of redirect, WPAD, I can't see as an option. Any ideas. If I place the second interface into the DMZ, could I use WCCP that way maybe, but won't traffic still have to go to the firewall??
    options please ??

Well you will need to use a 3rd party certificate..  Here is a link to generate and install a 3rd party certificate on the WLC for the use with Web-Auth:
    http://www.cisco.com/en/US/tech/tk722/tk809/technologies_configuration_example09186a00806e367a.shtml
Here is a link for the NGS:
    http://tools.cisco.com/search/display?url=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.cisco.com%2Fen%2FUS%2Fdocs%2Fsecurity%2Fnac%2Fappliance%2Fconfiguration_guide%2F410%2Fcas%2Fcas41ug.pdf&pos=1&strqueryid=2&websessionid=RK88fQNWy8TCDUakpNGLOqZ
The applicances are using a self generated Cisco certificate which of course is not a trusted certificate store in most of all operating systems.  So using a 3rd party certificate like RapidSSL, Verisign, etc will eliminate the certificate issue.

  • DHCP server and ip helper-address issue

    Question,
By accident I had configured an IP HELPER-ADDRESS on a VLAN interface pointing to a DHCP server with an IP addrees in the same VLAN ( ip subnet ).
Some users had complaints and there were BAD ADDRESS entries in our DHCP server registered.
Can anyone explain to me why this is an issue please ?
My guess is that the the DHCP server receives the DHCPREQUEST from the client via the braodcast request and via the unicast request from the ip helper-address configuration. But does this really interfere with the DHCPACK and DHCPOFFER packets afterwards ?

    Alex,
I've not been able to capture the network packets but I can understand if the server would send DHCPNACK requests ( wxhich would be a normal process ).
I just don't understand why so many users suddenly have issues and my DHCP scope is filling up with BAD ADDRESSES.
My assumption is that the client receives 2 valid DHCP responses ( one form the actual DHCP server and another one from the router, acting as DHCP relay agent ) and acknowledges them, but the DHCP process is somewhere corrupted ( either on the DHCP server or the DHCP client ).
I want a technical explanation for this issue :-)

  • Error message while starting IPM managed server and WebCenter Portal Spaces

    Hi,
    1. I am getting an error message when i try to start IPM_server1 in Oracle ECM. The message is as follows in the Command Prompt :
    <Mar 6, 2013 5:05:50 PM AST> <Warning> <Munger> <BEA-2156203> <A version attribute was not found in element application in the deployment descriptor in C:\Oracl

Future versions of the Weblogic Server will reject descriptors that do not specify the JEE version.>
    2. When after some time the imaging server starts and i try to login it does not accept the username and password provided for EM. and login is unsuccessfull always.
Regarding my other issue is with Webcenter portal spaces :
    1. I have installed WC_Spaces under the same UCM_domain where all other Managed servers are there.
    2. When i try to login it always takes me to a screen which says : Internal error (stating some numbers regarding date & time). Please contact your administrator.
Need to fix these 2 issues very soon. Help will be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks.

    Hi Satendra,
Is upgradation the only solution? No, it is one of the better options (and my personal suggestion) as PS2 release is more stable and has many more functionalities and features than PS1. The error which you are getting may be due to a corrupt installation. In case you want to solve this error only and do not want to go for upgrade, then feel free to raise a case with support.

  • Address Book Server and iOS Default Account Issue

I have a really strange issue with a Lion Server. 10.7.5
There are several user accounts on the machine some are local, some are OD accounts. For the most part they work just fine.
Mail and Calendar accounts seem to be ok and indeed when you set up the Address book account this also work and syncs in both directions.
Here is the odd issue: For certain accounts, iOS devices do not seem to register them to be available to set as default. The device can use them properly, they do sync fine, if you hit 'import SIM contacts' they will show up as options to choose as the destination account, but if you have iCloud and another contact account set up, they do not show up as options to be chosen as the default contacts account. If they are the only contact accounts, then the 'Set Default Account' option does not even appear in the Mail, Contacts, Calendars settings under Contacts. It appears fine under Calendars and Mail.
When I installed more than one of the 'faulty' accounts on a single iOS device, then deactivated all but one, the Default Account option reappeared (there was also an iCloud account present), but it soon disappears on its own.
    Has anyone seen this before?
    I'm at a bit of a loss.

You should see a "CardDAV" option in the AccountType popup in AddressBook.app. That is what you need to select to use AddressBook Server on OS X 10.6.

  • Creating Weblogic domain with Admin Server and managed servers on different

I am trying to create Weblogic domain where Admin Server and managed servers on different machines. However I am unable to find any steps which would allow me to do so. The config.sh script always creates an Admin Server. Please help.

Whilst the method that Lawrence gives can result in a domain that is perfectly functional, it is a method that can result in errors as you are having to enter the same information twice. Also you will create two admin servers, as the second domain creation will have the console added to it on the renamed admin server and this will give issues.
The best method to create a domain spamming multiple physical machines, is to create the domain with all the components on the first machine. This means planning the domain and making sure all components are added once; so having the information about the domain written out is wise. Ensure that the WLS software is installed in the same path on each machine before starting.
Then copy the domain that you have created from one machine to the other, keeping the same paths. You can simply copy (I've used this method multiple times without issue) but the supported way would be to use the WLST PACK and UNPACK methods. These create and extract domains from templates. Some more information on these is given here -> http://docs.oracle.com/cd/E13179_01/common/docs100/pack/intro.html#wp1069056

    Hi All,
I am trying to create a bridge between Weblogic 8.1 App Server and IBM MQ Series 5.2 and i am facing issues.

Any suggestions or comments will be really appreciated.
              Thanks

It is weird that nothing shows up in the log after you turned on the debug.
Actually I knew somebody has run into the same problem once.
The problem disappeared after he did something on the MQSeries side (like
restart the system and something else). I did not know exactly what he did.
I am not sure if that will help you but worth trying.
If that does work either, I'd suggest that you contact the BEA Customer Support
and somebody will look at it for you in depth.
              Thanks,
              Dongbo

  • Win2000 Server and OS 10.4.11 connection issues

We have 2 Macs running on a WIN2000 Server we have had no issues up until lately. We connect to a drive on the WIN2000 server and normally it will stay connected all day with no interruptions. Now we both are experiencing at least 2-3 times a day the drive is just disconnected and dropped off our desktop, no dialog box stating this, nothing. We don't even realize it's missing until we try and open something from the drive. We don't even get an error message when we try and save documents to the drive. So please help us. Is it the WIN2000 server or is it our MAC OS X we were wondering if it was the latest security update we have done?

    Hi tsmonson-
If this is a fairly recent problem, and you did nothing to cause it and cannot find a logical explanation otherwise, all things point towards a possible server problem.
Have you had the folks that maintain the server take a look at it?
    Luck-

  • TMS Server 14.4.2 and Smart Sheduler

    HI,
I have installed a TMS Server 14.4.2  based on a Windows 2008 English Version
TheTMS is running and I could add all Systems
After Installing the TMSPE 1.2 and activate the provisioning Extension to use the Smart Sheduler I have have the following Problem
I could start  it on from the tms server but I didn't see the fields for smart scheduler only home ,Favorites and Account Setting
Did anyone have the same situation before and could give me a helping hand ?
    Thx Josef

Firstly, you don't have to enable Provisioning to use the Smart Scheduler (you only need to do that if you need to do provisioing).
Have you checked that the TMSPE is installed correctly?  Are you able to see the files in the file system?
Are you able to hit the Smart Scheduler page directy?  http://YOURTMSSERVER/tmsagent/tmsportal/#scheduler
If that doesn't work, have you restarted your TMS and IIS since the install?  A quick reboot of the server will do this if you don't want to go through restarting each of the services.
Failing that, I'd try re-installing the TMSPE - refer to the relevant Deployment Guide for full details (VCS or CUCM).
Note: Trial versions of Cisco TMS cannot activate this extension.

  • Space Issues on IDES Server

    Hi Experts:
We are running into some space issues within our IDES server.  We are running 4.70 SR 2.00 with Oracle 9.2 DB.
I was wondering if there is anything within the system that we could delete.
I had my eye on these folders:
    F:\usr\sap\trans\cofiles
    F:\usr\sap\trans\data
    F:\oracle\IDS\sapdata2\undo_1
I have already cleaned up the EPS folders.
The other question I have relates to using partition magic to transfer extra space from two of the other drives.  What are your thoughts on this.
    Thanks

  • 10.5 server and Joomla URL issue

Sorry not sure if this is the correct location however I hope someone can help.
I'm running a newer Xserve with 10.5 and have Joomla installed. I'm trying all seems to be working but can only access my site via IP with the port number Example: 172.0.0.2:8888
I'd like it to be: internal.domainname.com
It does appears that I need to to make this change in joomla php config file. However I'd would like to be able to do it in server admin> Web > Sites.
I should be able to create a virtual server there including port number as well as any alis's. But every way I've tryed it it doesn't seem to want to pick it up. Almost like Joomla is a stand alone and not effected my server admin?
I also have had this issue with other applications I'm running on the server. FileMaker Pro Advanced server, and WebHelpDesk. I'd like to be able to do same thing but having same issue.
So in all the cases I am able to access the various business applications with and IP and a port number but want to setup virtual servers to be able to access with an alis such as (internal.mydomain.com) I understand about DNS and all the network requirements but when setting up a DNS entry you can't include a port number, so I need to be able to create a virutal server on my xserve.
Thanks for read any advice would be helpful, thanks

DNS can be used to alias your server to a virtual host using a cname. The virtual host domain can be used to setup a web site for apache service. Then route to another service from apache using reverse proxy to get from incoming port 80 or 443 to the other service on the working url or IP address with port number.
There are many forum entries on setting this up. As well as using the reference guide for web technologies at http://www.apple.com/server/macosx/resources/
Redirecting for achieving the same ends is also discussed.

  • TS1424 How do I clear my video queue if there was a space issue and I've already paid for them?

How do I clear my video queue if there was a space issue and I've already paid for them?

    1. Sync wasn't intended to be used in that manner. You would be better off carrying around a USB Flash Stick with Portable Firefox for use on "strange" PC's.
    2. You could open the "Library" {Ctrl + Shift + B} and highlight all those bookmarks and then delete them all at once. But that would also delete all the other bookmarks, and it isn't foolproof. All another person would need to do it to '''''restore''''' a bookmark backup file that has your bookmarks. Beyond that, a new Profile could be created and then the current Profile deleted; but that's "messing with" someone else's computer - an action that is worthy of terminating a friendship over, IMO.
And if that "public" computer was set up properly, Sync should have been disabled.
