Please let me know how to troubleshoot TNS-12520
Thanks,
Waheed Azhar

All oracle instances will look for port 1521 for a listener to get registered to, unless otherwise stated (LOCAL_LISTENER parameter configured). If listener.ora doesn't record any information about the database then it will wait for the database to call him to setup a registration. If listener.ora has been modified by the dba with information about the database, then the listener will not wait, it doesn't matter if the database starts or not, it will have the database already registered (manual registration).

  • TNS Listener Error. Please Help. Urgent

    Hello All,
    I restarted the Oracle Server. After restarting the TNS SERVICE is not starting at all. It shows the status as started and then thros the error "TNSLSNR.EXE encountered a problem and needs to close."
    The error stack is something like
    szAppname :TNSLSNR.EXE
    szAppver : 0.0.0.0
    szModename: unknown
    szModVer: 0.0.0.0
    offset :0003002
    Please help me to overcome this error. Even when i try to configure a new listener using the Net Configuration Assistant nothing happend. Means nothing shows up in the services.
    Please tell me what could be the possible reason and what should be done to overcome the issues.

  • Remote Desktop Connection (RDC) No longer working - Please help!

    Ok... here we go.  I cannot RDC to my network at work.  I originally was using a PC and was able to connect a few times using RDC before it stopped working.  It would not connect either wirelessly or connected via ethernet cable no matter what I tried.  I then tried a laptop from work - same problem.  I then went and bought a new Macbook Pro - connected no problem 5 times in a row until it stopped worked again out of the blue.
    In summary:
    - same problem exists on Macs and PCs
    - same problem exists when using Wifi or Ethernet cable
    - problem ONLY occurs at home with my FIOS router - all the same computers can RDC using any other network
    - if I connect to my neighbor's Wifi on either a Mac or PC, it's works fine
    Please help!!  I've been looking at my router settings but I'm over my head.  Any help would be greatly appreciated.

    I am going to take an educated guess as to why, it does not work. If this does not solve the issue, please post,
    The solution was posted here by user "tns", from user BigDaddy on DSLReports:
    Login to your router normally, then click this link, which will take you to the now-hidden IGMP Proxy config page:

  • Problems with Oracle XE on XP - Please help!

    Hi,
    I have oracle XE installed on my machine and it was working absolutely fine for the last year or so. Today there was an trojan intrusion which caused some issues with my windows xp OS like hiding some files, desktop etc. After everything was cleaned up and things back to normal. I am having issues with XE.
    I can start and stop XE with out any issues and When I use the run sql command line, I can connect using - connect sys/sys as sydba and I can also run a query to see all the users and see the HR user also.
    However, 1. When I connect to my hr user using connect hr/password@xe, it just hangs
    2. I tried the- go to Oracle XE admin page but it just hangs for a long time and returns page cannot be found.
    3. I can tnsping the xe instance.
    Not sure what the issue is? I am not a DBA and don't have much knowledge on this. Is a fresh install the only option? or is there any way to correct this using the sys/sys user?
    I have pasted the listenor.log and listenor.ora details below. I tried a fresh install after removing XE. but the same issue!
    Please help!
    Thanks,
    Nikita

  • Problems to install Oracle8i (1.6) enterprise edition on Windows 2000. PLEASE HELP

    Hi all,
    I am failed to install oracle 8i 1.6 on windows 2000 server. I am getting following error.
    ORA-XXXX CREDIENTIAL RETRIVAL FAIL. I am getting this error while creation of database. It is giving option abort or Ignore. When I pressed Ignore after not nothing working out, it simple keep running. When ever I try to connect SVRMGRL I am getting TNS adaptor error. Please help me any one.
    Thanks,
    Swetha.

    Its a problem with oracle and pentium 4 processors actually. The solution involves renaming or deleting the symcjit.dll in the 8i installation package after you've copied the whole Cd onto your HDD!
    I've tried this and it install OK, with a few errors along the way, now I can't get the apache server working, nor on the 9i AS that I've installed as well. Let me know if you get anything useful please?
    Michael.

    hai friends!
    I installed D2K recently. Iam unable to login to sql (directly or from D2K forms) using the usual username/password..scott/tiger,system/manager,demo/demo. I get the following error message :
    TNS error: Unable to connect to destination
    Please help me out!
    thanX,
    raji

    what is your error number.
    Did you try to look up this number in the oracle error book?
    Usually you can also find the solution there.
    My bet is that your tnsnames.ora file is not set properly.

  • Please help, oracle 8i on windows xp?

    Can oracle 8i run on windows xp?
    When I tried to run setup, it did abolutely nothing. I can't find any information on oracle's web site about this and the only relevant forum post that I found was by someone that was having the exact same problem, but no one answered him.
    Thanks in advance,
    Joey

    Hi all,
    I'm trying to install Oracle 8i on Windows-xp
    Professional. it gets installed but runs only once.
    that means its fails to run once I shut down the
    system and restart & shows the message-"oracle not
    found" or "tns server is not found". Can anybody
    please help me? Thanks in advance.When attempting to install obsolete software on modern operating systems, one must expect problems. I've found that Oracle tends to survive well when installed on a supported platform which is upgraded, but there are usually issues when attempting a fresh install on a newer platform.
    Your problem states "Oracle Not Found". Therefore your OS services know that they should be attempting to connect to an Oracle database but the database is 'not found'. Further, it says that the TNS Server is not found. TNS is Oracle's term for 'on the network'.
    Is there a business reason that requires you to run obsolete software? If the database software MUST be obsolete, what is the logic behind upgrading the operating system? (In other words - why only upgrade one?)
    You need to check the following things:
    1) You have a static IP address and host name, and are NOT using DHCP;
    (look at or post the result of command line "ipconfig /all")
    2) Check whether the Oracle database service and the listener service are running;
    (Under "Start > Settings > Control Panel > Administration Tools > Service" or command line services.msc)
    3) Tell us how well the listener is running;
    (Command line "lsnrctl status")

    Error "ORA-04062: timestamp of package "SYS.DBMS_SNAPSHOT_UTL" has been changed" appears while refreshing materialized view with DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH, the configuration is described below, please, any suggestions what cause the problem?
    I have the master database:
    db_master
    Oracle Database 10g Enterprise Edition Release 10.2.0.3.0 - 64bi
    PL/SQL Release 10.2.0.3.0 - Production

    the master and replica databases are installed at different hosts
    At db_master:
    1. I create table TEST
    CREATE TABLE TEST (ID NUMBER PRIMARY KEY);
    2.Then create materialized view log on TEST
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW LOG ON TEST;
    At db_replica:
    1. create dblink MASTER to db_master
    2. create materialized view
    CREATE MATERIALIZED VIEW MV_TEST REFRESH FAST AS SELECT * FROM TEST@MASTER
    At db_master:
    1.Insert some test values to TEST
    INSERT INTO TEST VALUES (1);
    INSERT INTO TEST VALUES (2);
    INSERT INTO TEST VALUES (3);
    COMMIT;
    At db_replica:
    1. call in job (every 10 sec) DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH(‘MV_TEST’), or manually:
    begin
    DBMS_MVIEW.REFRESH('MV_TEST');
    end;
    sometimes (not at every call the below error callstack appears)

    17:07:22 ORA-06512: at line 4
    Please, help me solve this problem, what cause ORA-04062?

    Zjawka,
    This forum doesn't consist of paid support personell.
    Labeling your request as 'very urgent' must be considered rude.
    If you would have looked up the error at all in the online documentation,
    you would have got:
    ORA-04062: %s of string has been changed
    Cause: Attempt to execute a stored procedure to serve an RPC stub which specifies a timestamp or signature that is different from the current timestamp/signature of the procedure.
    Action: Recompile the caller in order to pick up the new timestamp.
    No why do you do take the trouble to dump all in this junk in a volunteer forum, and you can't be bothered to look up the error message?

  • TNS-12520 when connecting via TCPS on 11gR2 RAC with SCAN Listener

    I am struck trying to implement TCPS on our Oracle RAC SCAN Listener.  I have added to our Oracle 12c systems, but not on a RAC with SCAN.
    I created a wallet and certificate on one of the nodes, and copied it to the node and created auto login on each node.  I exported the trust.jks and identity.jks, and loaded them in my test java program as the trust store and key stores.  I have added the wallet location to the listener tns and sql  ora files.
    When attempting a TCPS connection, the ssl handshake succeed, but the client reports error:
    ORA-12520, TNS:listener could not find available handler for requested type of server
    The nodes scan listener log reports the TNS error, listener_scan1/alert/log.xml, when the connection is using TCPS on port 2484:

    Hi hitgon,
    Thanks first.
    The commands output are as the following:
    Command: srvctl status listener
    Output:
    # Listener LISTENER is enabled
    # Listener LISTENER is running on node(s): rac1,rac2
    Command: srvctl status scan_listener

    Command: sqlplus username/passwd@rac-scan:1521/rac.localdomain
    Output:

    # Enter user-name:
    By the way, rac-scan is the host where the SCAN listener is running and rac.localdomain is the service name. I've also tried the following commands
    with the same error output:
    sqlplus username/passwd@RAC
    At last, i think the output of "lsnrctl status LISTENER_SCAN1" might help:

  • OID multimaster -asrsetup fail-VERY URGENT please help....

    Hi,
    i am newbie....so please help urgent...
    I am implementing multi-master OID setup,
    when i try to run -remtool -asrsetup i am getting below mentioned error,
    ASR setup has failed.
    Error occurred while dropping database link.
    ORCL1.xxx.CO.IN : ORA-02084: database name is missing a component
    TNS.ORA FILE DETAILS:
    ORCL1 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ggnidm86)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl1.XXX.co.in)
    ORCL1.XXX.co.in =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ggnidm86)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl1.XXX.co.in)
    ORCL2 =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ggnidm87)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl2.XXX.co.in)
    ORCL2.XXX.co.in =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ggnidm87)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVER = DEDICATED)
    (SERVICE_NAME = orcl2.XXX.co.in)
    EXTPROC_CONNECTION_DATA =
    (DESCRIPTION =
    (ADDRESS_LIST =
    (ADDRESS = (PROTOCOL = TCP)(HOST = ggnidm87)(PORT = 1521))
    (CONNECT_DATA =
    (SERVICE_NAME = PLSExtProc)
    )

    This Issue is happening because of the reserved keyword presence in database link name(orcl1.XXX.co.in). The name (orcl1.XXX.co.in) contains the reserved keyword "IN". To fix this problem, database global name must be changed.
    Step1: Change the global database name on both nodes:
    Change the global database name on ggnidm86:
    SQL> alter database rename global_name to orcl1.XXX.co.ind
    Change the global database name on ggnidm87:
    SQL>alter database rename global_name to orcl2.XXX.co.ind
    Step2: As the domain name is getting changed, so initialization parameter file
    (i.e spfileORCL1.ora/initORCL1.ora) must have the correct "db_domain" parameter on both the nodes. Ensure that domain name is changed to "XXX.co.ind" on both the nodes.
    Once above two steps are done, you can go ahead with remtool -asrsetup command.

    I do not have any personal experience with this, but I understand that that 11g install comes with its own release of SQLDeveloper which you will need to use to access 11g database.
