TNS-12538: TNS:no such protocol adapter, and install MS loopback adapter

Hello,
I am trying to install oracleAS Infrastructure and portal on my windows xp pc. (Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)
At some point of the installation for Internet Directory Configuration Assistant, there is an error:
===========================================================
Output generated from configuration assistant "Internet Directory Configuration Assistant" (attempt 2):
Myinfra.mypcname.domainname
java.sql.SQLException: Io exception: The Network Adapter could not establish the connectionat oracle.jdbc.driver.DatabaseError.throwSqlException(DatabaseError.java:137)
===========================================================
After did some searching, I find I may need to install MS loopback adapter.
So I followed http://support.microsoft.com/kb/839013 to install the MS Loopback adapter.
After I installed, When I open the Network Connetcions, I found there are two local area connetcions. One of then called local area connection 2, and it's MS loopback adapter. I got a warning for local area connection 2, it says that my pc does not have a IP address assigned, and its status is : limited or no connectivity .
I tried to repair to establish the full connection by clicking on the repair button, but the process is failed.
I also tried to run command: tnsping orcl ( orcl is my database service name ), after installed the loopback adapter.
tnsping orcl, still got this error:

===================================================
btw. my pc IP was assigned by DHCP, and pc host name is something like: abcd.abc.edu
Q1. I am wondering which local area connection is currently used by default ? If it's the old one, how to configure it to use the new added one? ( local area connetcion 2 ).
Q2. Do I have to install MS Loopback adapter for installing Oracle Application Server 10g Release 2 (10.1.2)?
I don't have a fixed IP, however my IP is seldom changed. And I'm ok with 127.0.0.1
Any suggestion ?

    Hi Rajesh Vig
    Thank for your help.
I did change follow your advice. But it doesn't work at all.
However, before finishing configured listener, something warn me as popup message.

In tnsnames.ora file of schema1,i have also included the details for schema2.
Please tell me the solution of this problem
    Thanks in advance

    Hi,
Can you ping the schema2 which is another DB or can you connect to schema2 DB with the service which you have used for DB link.
Check that first functioning correct or not.
    Check this link.

  • Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter and Microsoft Teredo Tunneling Adapter #2

I have a Dell XPS STUDIO 7100, with MS Windows 7 Home Premium

    and Adapter #2.
the postings I've seen are not current.  What is the most current info
regarding these Adapters and do I really need them?

    Hi,
Here i share my test for such issue, which you can try:
Press Win + R, type regedit in Run.
    Loate to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\TCPIP6\Parameters.
Find DisableComponents value, ( if you can not find it, please attempt to create one vaule ), then modify the Dword value to 0.

  • My MBP Retina doesn't allow the use of two Thunderbolt to DVI adapters. It only works with one TB - VGA adapter and one TB - DVI adapter. However now the color on the VGA connected monitor is slightly different.

The monitors are Viewsonic VA2406m-LED. The Display preferences show all three monitors but one monitor always says "No Signal" if they are both connected TB -> DVI.
The Color on the VGA connected one is slighly off. It seems like I should be able to connect two DVI monitors not sure why this is stopped. Does it have something to do with the Graphics card?

The problem was with the newEgg adapter. I just went to the Apple Store and bought an Apple adapter and the monitor now displays correctly.
For future reference, in case anyone experiences this problem:
the newEgg adapter is part number 9SIA1PU0P88920, described as a Thunderbolt Mini Displayporrt Display Port DP to DVI Adapter for APPLE Macbook Pro Air and the full description says it works for macbook pro, etc.
when this adapter is used, the macbook pro recognizes the monitor, but the monitor displays nothing.
When the apple adapter (MB507Z/B Mini Display Port to DVI Adapater) is used, the monitor displays correctly.
Of course, the individual newEgg part might simply be defective, but I doubt it.  moral -- spend the extra $$ and buy the Apple adapter.

  • How to install Microsoft Loopback Adapter

I want to install the Microsoft Lookback Adapter in Windows 7. I have done this under Vista either via:
    1) Control Panel, Classic View, Add Hardware
    2) Device Manager, right click on root node and select Add Legacy Hardware
I can't find the equivalent under Windows 7 - any suggestions?
    Thanks!

I have a video that covers the steps to install the Microsoft Loopback Adapter in Windows 7.  Hope this helps...

  • Do i really need to install Microsoft Loopback Adapter ?

i am installing oracle 10g on windows xp proffessional + AMD sempron 3100+
when started oracle universal installer, i received a warning like following :
DHCP configuration detected , you need to configure ur primary loopback adapter to MICROSOFT LOOPBACK ADAPTER
i m using belkin wireless card to connect to internet and i dont need to change it anyway.
please someone suggest me : whether i shud continue with this warning OR do i need something more before installing oracle 10g ???
    thanks in advance,
    -imranmca

I have Windows XP professional SP2 with a static ip address of my internal lan.
The installation don't pass the check about lan with the same message as you
"DHCP configuration detected , you need to configure ur primary loopback adapter to MICROSOFT LOOPBACK ADAPTER". Why?
I followed the instructions and now is all working adding in the hosts file 2 lines and not only one:
    IP_addr computer_name.domain computer_name
    IP_addr sid_name.domain sid_name
I'm not convinced of my euristic solution... can someone explain me why i have to configure the microsoft loopback adapter when i don't have a dhcp configuration?

  • Installing a Loopback adapter without a Domain Name

Im trying to install the microsoft loopback adapter for the oracle 10g database. In one of the steps I was supposed to configure the "hosts" file within the driver directory of the windows folder.
Below is the precise directions... I dont have a domain name, I just have a internet service that gives me a dynamic IP address... what do I do?
Add a line to the SYSTEM_DRIVE:\WINDOWS\system32\drivers\etc\hosts file with the following format, after the localhost line:
    IP_address hostname.domainname hostname
    where:
IP_address is the non-routable IP address you entered in step 16.
hostname is the name of the computer.
domainname is the name of the domain.
    For example:
    10.10.10.10 mycomputer.mydomain.com mycomputer

    Make one up.
    Or not.
The domain name in the /etc/hosts is optional.
Since you use /etc/hosts, you are not using a DNS server for that specific interpretation. Therefore you can use whatever you want. I'd use something like 'glomph.tst' just so I can have thje joy of typing that in the browser URL box.

  • Travel Adapter and iPod USB Power Adapter

I know this is going to sound like a stupid question but this is all new to me so please bear with me I just bought an iPod video, a World Travel Adapter kit and the Power Duo kit - which contains a power block wall charger, USB mini cable, and car charger. I was looking at the plugs in the travel kit and do not see how they work. The product data says that it works with the USB power adapter - which at this point I am assuming is different than the power block wall charger? Can someone verify this for me? Also, can someone then tell me how these travel adapters plug into the USB power adapter (or power block wall charger) so that they can be used when traveling overseas. I can't tell from the photo of the USB adapter how this would be done...I don't want to buy yet another power adapter if I don't need one, but I sure can't see how they work with what I have so far or how they would work with the USB power adapter..I would have thought that the travel kit would have some with everything that I need but apparently it doesn't.
    Thanks in advance.

  • Sender RFC Adapter AND Rec. File Adapter

    Hi
Workflow of my scenario is like this :
    <b>SAP R/3 ---> Sender RFC Adapter ---> XI Server -
    > Rec. File Adapter -
    > Legacy System</b>
I am using Async Inbound interface for this as I dont need any response back & I just need to create file.
I am just picking some data from BAPI & creating a file on a folder in Legacy System.
Now during execution, file is getting created but I am getting dump on SAP R/3 and even when I am using Async communication, response is coming back from Legacy Business System ( service ) & giving an error " <i>No Mapping Program Found</i> " in sxmb_moni.
Kindly suggest how can I avoid getting response from Legacy System. Pls. take note again I am using Async Inbound Interface.
    Regards
    - Lalit -

    Hi Lalit,
When your RFC is called from R/3 by default it would be in Sync mode. When this is in Sync mode it obviously will expect a response and where as in your scenario XI dose'nt give any response and there is no mapping for that and I think that is the reason you are getting that error.
So when your Sender RFC is triggered it will like this in ABAP
CALL Function "Function Name" <SM59 Destination>
and this is Sync call. To make it Async i should be
CALL Function "Function Name" IN BACKGROUND TASK <SM59 Destination>
    Hoep this helps
    Thanks,

Would probably have to see your listener.ora to know for sure but two things I would look for: AFAIK you can use either tcp or udp for the PROTOCOL= statement in the listener.ora, the Oracle Listener listens on port 1521 so you should add port 1521 to your SERVICES file in the /etc directory. See if either of those help any..
