Tns names under 10g r2?

I have problem connecting with TOAD 7.6 to 10g R2 (on same machine)!!! till this release i didn't expirince a problem.
somehow oracle home is for TOAD invalid??
anybody has some workaround?

i have also following problem:
i'm connecting locally and in sql*plus i can connect as db user but only if i miss @db_alias.
e.g.:
with conn scott/tiger i can connect
but
with conn scott/[email protected] it's not possible!???
i have installed listener with config assistent on default port 1521 and it's started as service ...
cause connect omiting alias is made using bequeath adapter, which does not require a listener I think that listener not working properly.
but how to make listener working properly when from outside everything looks like OK? any ideas?

Local Database, TNS Names & ORA-12541: No Listener

I am trying to get IFS working on our new Windows 7 machine and the entire department is scratching it's head right now.
I have gotten Oracle 11.2.0.1 installed and finally being seen by the ODBC thanks to the past threads on the forum mentioning the System Environment Variable. However, now I need to be able to get the program to sync the information that I can pull from "MPRDSP6", the one working ODBC connection right now.
In the past with Oracle XE we had the following in our TNS Names file:

The XE was created whenever Oracle XE was installed and we just added in our MPRDSP6 at the end of the TNS Names file. This was what we used when making the local copy for our personell that would travel and need access to the database.
However, with Oracle 11.2.0.1, there was no TNS Names file whenever it installs and I had to create it --> Inputting our XE entry and the other, MPRDSP6.
Upon trying to 'Test Connection' in the ODBC screen I get:
Unable to Connect
SQLState=S1000
[Oracle][ODBC][Ora] ORA-12541: TNS:no listener
Whenever I try to sync the MPRDSP6 with the local copy of it (named local_db), I am getting an error from the program saying:
Could not find the Local Oracle Data Folder. Please make sure your Local Oracle is running and that you have set the Local Database Creator.
I am assuming this is simply because there is actually no database in existance: it is just in the TNS Names.
I am Running Windows 7 x64
Forgive me if this is a very simple fix as I am completely new to the world of Oracle.

Having the same issue, trying to connect IFS Sales and Marketing. In my case, I am using Oracle Express 10g, Windows 7 32-bit. My ODBC DSN can find the "host" server, but does not seem to find the local Oracle Express instance.

File upload conflict with BC4JRequestProcessor under 10g

I'm using file upload in application designed in JDeveloper 9i with STRUTS framework. Request processor is BC4JRequestProcessor. Application uses file upload performed with form derrived from ActionForm with property of interface FormFile. Everything was OK until migration to 10g was performed. Under 10g, the NullPointerException is reported in MultipartUtil class called from BC4JRequestProcessor. Details:java.lang.NullPointerException
at oracle.jbo.html.struts11.MultipartUtil.populate(MultipartUtil.java:227)
at oracle.jbo.html.struts11.BC4JRequestProcessor.processPopulate(BC4JRequestProcessor.java:433)
at org.apache.struts.action.RequestProcessor.process(RequestProcessor.java:254)
...The problem is, that method "populate" of MultipartUtil class doesn't resolve the MultipartRequestHandler parameter and the names of the parameters (Enumeration names) has than a null value. There is a NullPointerException thrown after an attempt of iteration of this enumeration.
Any suggestions?

TNS names can't be resolved

Hi All!
I try to connect to a database and the error message that TNS names can't be resolved. tnsnames.ora is copied from the PC where the connection works. Only one instance of Oracle client (9.2) is installed. I tried to add a TNS names in Net Assistent. It worked and the test within the assistent was successfull. The tnsnames.ora was also adjusted. But! I don't see the service in NetManager and I can't add any service there. The NT user is a member of the administrator group. I also try to connect using SQL plus, Excel, Enterprice manager - it doesn't work. Any ideas?
Is there any Windows service for the TNS? How it calls? I tried to check it with lsnrctl status but the command is not exist. Only client is installed on the PC.

If you copied it from another PC then check that you have the correct entries in sqlnet.ora
For instance, in sqlnet.ora, if the parameter NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN=yourserver_name.domain_name is not in use (commented out) and your net service name in[b] tnsnames.ora is mydb.yourserver_name.domain_name , when you try connecting with mydb as the connect string, you will get that error.
To resolve that, you either enter the connect string as mydb.yourserver_name.domain_name or uncomment NAMES.DEFAULT_DOMAIN in sqlnet.ora(add it if it does not exist) or change the net service name intnsnames.ora to mydb

Release Strategy Processor Names under Release Strategy tab for a PReq

Hello Experts,
We have situation in Release Strategy for Purchase Requsitions in which we need to display all approvers names under the Release strategy tab for a Purchase Requisition.
Senerio work as follows.
Based on the Release strategy customization settings,Purchase Requisition subjected to release strategy selects the approver names from a custom table.
In the Custom table we have names of the approvers with release codes.
Purchase Requisition displaying the names of the approvers according to alphabetical order.Hence it displays First one user or approver name under the release strategy according to the approver alphabetical order from the custom table.
Can we display name of all approvers in one line according to initial investigation there is room for 40 characters under the release strategy tab.
Let me know if any Standarad OSS notes available for this.

Hi amogh if you configure with workflow the strategy and the name of the persons are in transaction SU01, you don´t need to put nothing. The release strategy shows the names of the persons that release the document, but if you change one person in the release strategy, the system don´t save history for this, all old documents that have been released for this person, release strategy is blank. You have to do a non standard report that shows what person releases what document.

Have you tried running lsof from the Terminal?
Lsof will show you any files that are open, the likelihood is that your file is in use.

I have installed and configured exchange 2013 as a fresh installation on server 2012 and it worked fine till i changed
specifying the external host name under outlook anywhere(in exchange ECP -> Server -> server -> W12R2-Email2013).
My internal domain is starnavigator.lk and we have several accepted domains listed. but all the staff checked web mail through
mail.leoburnett.lk internally and externally. even now web mail is working fine.
After i added external host name as mail.leoburnett.lk
all the internal PCs start to pop up for user name and password and its not connecting.
even if I reversed back the settings, still prompt for user name and password. also auto discover cant locate the settings. if i configure the settings manually, i t works for first time and after restarting outlook, again prompt for name and password.Any
any advice or solution please??

After configuring outlook manually, run Test E-Mail Autoconfiguration and Connection Status and post the result.
Editing just an URL for OA shouldn't cause any issue.
Did you restarted IIS Service?

we want to user one mapping to export all tables' name under user,
like sql :

Get the table all_table in source analyzer save it. While building the map choose this as ur source, modify source qualifier as select table_name,table_name from all_tables where table_name='BIEBS'.
Once u have this, use an expression transformation to build ur expression and load it into a flat file.

ORA-00942 when creating external table under 10g with AQ

I have an application that runs with AQ. The front-end queues up batch-type
tasks in a queue. When one particular kind of message is dequeued, it
initiates a data load. That load requires the creation of an external
table.
The schema in question is owned by user BL (bulkload). The queue
is owned by BLB (bulkload batch), primarily to simplify some of the
rules needed by the resource manager in order to limit the total CPU
a batch process can consume. The BLB user has full access to the
BL schema, along with the following rights:

To clarify, the preceding statement, when handled by the process
for a queue message, failes with an ORA-00942.

Define "has full access to the BL schema" given that it is impossible to grant access rights, in Oracle, by schema. What was done and how was it done?
My guess is that the privs were granted in a role, rather than explicitly, as is required for PL/SQL.

The Apex 3.2 Installation Documentation - How to Install under 10g?

I finally have a project that looks like a great candidate for Apex. My target database is 10g (as most of our customers are running that version).
My problem? [The Apex 3.2 installation guide|http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/install.32/e13366/toc.htm]. Even though Apex 3.2 is said to be compatible with 10g, the docs speak about nothing but 11g. Is there an embedded PL/SQL gateway in 10g? The docs don't say. What if I want the external Apache http server? Well, I'm running 10.2.0.4 (in Windows, on my dev machine; version lines up with what we support for our customers). The 10g Companion CD I can download only comes with 10.2.0.1. Installing from that broke other things. (sqlplus now uses the 10.2.0.1 version and can't find my running server) So, I uninstalled the new stuff, and at least what used to work works again.
In short, I can't figure out what to do to get Apex installed properly, and the documentation isn't any help. I tried to post some feedback using the Contact us link ([http://download.oracle.com/docs/cd/E14373_01/dcommon/html/feedback.htm]), but that page provides no means of actually sending any feedback in.
Does anyone know how to get this working under 10g? And, does anyone know how to get documentation feedback to Oracle?

After you configured your Database and HTTP Server, which you can pretty much do with default installations, you have to install APEX 3.2 into your database and then configure your dads.conf. You need to create the tablespaces you want to use and run the @apexins.sql <tablespace for apex files> <tablespace for user files> <temporary tablespace> and <virtual image directory>.. Usually it comes with a TEMP tablespace, and you should create the alias as /i/ for the virtual image directory. So an example would be *@apexins.sql SYSAUX SYSAUX TEMP /i/*. You have to do this in SQLPLUS connected to your database as the system administrator. You need to do a few things after the installation of APEX. I.e. run the *@apxchpwd* script to change the admin password. Then the ALTER USER APEX_PUBLIC_USER ACCOUNT UNLOCK; command in SQLPLUS. Then ALTER USER APEX_PUBLIC_USER IDENTIFIED BY <your new password>;. Then you need to copy the APEX images folder into your Apache HTTP Server's folder.. in windows it would be something this xcopy /E /I <apex home location>\apex\images <Oracle HTTP Server Home>\Apache\images. ... And example would be xcopy /E /I C:\apex\apex\images C:\oracle\product\10.2.0\db\Apache\Apache\images... Finally edit your dads.conf file, and then restart your opmn (<HTTP_SERVERHOME>\bin\opmnctl stopall then startall). This should get APEX 3.2 running for you, if you got the HTTP Server and Database up.

Error Could not connect to the database - ora-12545: tns:name lookup failure

I am a tech at a failing company. Unfortuneatly some users still need ADI installed and working with very limited resources to troubleshoot oracle. I am getting the error - ( Could not connect to the database - ora-12545: tns:name lookup failure )when the user tries to log on to ADI. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate it. We are on Windows NT on an NT network. Oracle 8.05 client installed and ADI 6.0.

Copy the tnsname.ora file from Oracle Database serve onto the client PC.

DNS host name under virtual interface??

Hi,
Can anyone tell me what is the purpose of DNS hostname under the virtual interface? Is it a required parameter for web-authentication / how does it affect the web authentication?

The host name under the virtual interface is for if/when you put a third party certificate in the WLC. When you register for the cert, the name you put under the virtual interface is what you use for the cert.

Multiple TNS Names files cause duplicates in TNS Alias drop down

SQL Developer 1.5 EA3, JDK 1.6.0_04, Win XP SP 2
In EA3 we are still getting duplicates in the TNS Network Alias drop down box where there are multiple files starting with TNSNAMES. in the first location SQL Developer finds TNS Names files. I know it has been discussed before (ie 1.2.0 reads TNSNAMES.ORA file multiple times and duplicates values in Alias but can anyone explain why we need to look for more than one file starting with TNSNAMES. or indicate any other product that uses similar logic to find the correct TNS Names file?

I have multiple versions of oracle clients and a tns_names file in each directory.
I agree with the last comment about a preference option of which tnsnames file to use.
Right now my problem is not seeing duplicates, but not seeing all of the SID's listed in my tnsnames file, and because of the above I can't tell which tns_names file it is using. So instead I am editing them all.

My podcast is now live on itunes but I would like to change the name under the Podcast title from my real name to artist name. How can i do this?

I have started a podcast page where i will be uploading weekly radio shows. Id like for it to say my artist name not my real name under the Podcast Title but i cant seem to see how to change that. Can someone please help?

Your name is normally carried in the 'itunes:author' tag and appears in smaller print above the title. You can change either this or the title itself in the same place in whatever program you are using to make your podcast and reupload the feed. You don't need to take any further action; the Store willn probably take a few days to update.
However, if you are going to change the title be careful: some podcast creatioin methods give the rss file a filename drawn from the title, and if you change the title it may change that. You can't have that happen because the Store will lose contact with the feed if its URL changes (there is a way round this which I will explain if you really need me to - do not proceed without checking on this). If your feed filename is something like rss.xml or feed.xml then there isn't a problem about the title.

On the server you may not need that, on the client.... neither...
On the server you need the listener (which you should already have), on the client you can use the easy connect method, which does not require any configuration :
sqlplus username/password@<servername or IP address>:<port>/<sid>
for example
sqlplus scott/[email protected]:1521/orcl
the port is not mandatory if it's 1521.
Of course you can configure TNS aliases within tnsnames.ora, both on client and server, here an example :
