TNSPING.EXE is Missing on Custom Install

The Oracle 10g client was recently rolled out to computers at our site. The installation was basically the 10g client, SQL*Plus, Support Files, and Windows Interfaces. To my great surprise, the tnsping.exe utility is not present in such an installation. Does anyone know which files are needed to "hand install" this utility? Just copying tnsping.exe to the BIN folder doesn't do the trick. I get a message back making reference to "no message file for product=NETWORK". I'd like to avoid re-running the Oracle installer on all these machines if possible and maybe just push out the missing files.

It was assumed that something so basic as tnsping would be
included in the requirements/dependencies of the client. Without verifying, I'd say that network tools (like netca etc.) are installed by the Oracle Net component.
Do you really need tnsping? Why?
Is there an easy way of just dropping the necessary
files onto these machines to get tnsping working
without having to push out and re-run the whole
Oracle installer (it's a very large package).You could try "dropping" the tnsping.exe on one machine and see what happens. But this would render your installaion unsupported. You can't just copy files, because you need to go via OUI to maintain the oraInventory etc.
Perhaps you could put together a silent install that adds Oracle Net to existing Client installations.

After updating to V. 8.0 from the previous version, the install went OK until it tried to launch Firefox. It then said the path for the shortcut was invalid. Upon checking Firefox.exe was missing. The uninstaller program is also missing. I uninstalled using Revo Uninstaller and tried again - same results. V. 8.1 is the same.

I suspect you may need to modify your Windows registry settings to make the changes permanent. That said, I believe the command line options you wish to remove act as safeguards, I would caution against removing them.

You could try removing the -requestPending option (leaving the other options) and uncheck/clear the "Use DDE" checkbox. This may speed things up.

Error during setup of VSLS2011 "setup.exe: [2] ISetupComponent::Pre/Post/Install() failed in ISetupManager.."

I have VS 9 installed and was wanting to install LightSwitch so downloaded the ISO(VSLS2011_ENU.iso) and burnt to disk ran
setup.exe and received the this message.

According to the error message above, this issue is related to verification. For this issue, you need make sure that you download VSLS2011_ENU.iso from Microsoft official site, see:

When I try to scan I get an error that HP_IZE.exe is missing. Help!!

I am unable to scan to my printer, it says that the file HP_IZE.exe is missing. HP Photosmart C4480, I have tried reinstalling the software and it indicates that it is already installed. I have removed it (I thought) but it still insists it is already installed. I need to be able to scan!! Please help!!

Try an L3 uninstall. Go to the installation CD or the folder that you extracted it to from the download then go to util->ccc->uninstall_l3. Once that uninstall is completed try reinstalling and scanning. Let me know if this helps or not!

Numerous TNSPING.EXE processes in the background.

Recently I've met a weird problem in one of my dev machines:
Numerous TNSPING.EXE processes are seen in Window Task Manager, each of which has a memory usage of around 10M or 14M, consuming up more than 1G memory in total. Besides, two oracle.exe instances is consuming all the CPU, and I cannot connect to any of the databases hosted on the machine (No response for long time, no time out) There are also a few perl.exe, cmd.exe running too, don't know whether they are related to the problem. After restarting the machine, it come back to normal, but after one or two days the machine is up, these processes show up again...

The machine is installed Oracle 10g, hosting 4 databases. Does someone has any clue of what's going on?

I didn't see this problem for a few days but this morning it comes again. I did a screenshot of the process explorer:

It looks some sub process of nmesrvc.exe is responsible for starting these TNSPING. Beside the three appeared in the screenshot, there're more than ten instances of "TNSPING.exe" running, but have no parent processes.
As a comparison, following is a screenshot of the processes when everything is normal:

How to deploy a custom install of Firefox 12 using SCCM or MDT for Enterprise Clients

I'm trying to perform a custom install of Firefox 12 for our enterprise desktops and laptops to be deployed from Microsoft Deployment Tools (MDT) or Microsoft System Center Configuration Manager (SCCM).
I've tried creating a custom app with the regular '''''Firefox Setup 12.0.exe" -ms''''' command, but when the users start the program it asks if they want this to be the default browser, whether they want to import favorites or shortcuts from other browsers, etc...
I followed the instructions on several websites to create a custom mozilla.cfg file, local-settings.js, override.ini, and a batch file to call everything, but all have failed.
I have a large business enterprise and would prefer to deploy the latest version of Firefox, but you guys sure don't make it easy.

I am having this problem also. The first time I start Firefox, I get the error "Failed to read the configuration file".
I created the following files:

Install error 1722 and Custom Install fails too

I'm installing Java 1.5 (the 16MB offline) and/or the 235K online, problem is the same either way. I am installing on NT4.0 server sp6a.
When I choose Custom install, and go to the next screen. The Change
button is disabled. So I cannot change the install directory.
It seems like an InstallShield version problem. Like there's some new
dlls or exes of InstallShield that I need.
Otherwise, it's just Error 1722 again.
Any ideas appreciated.

If the above doesn’t do the trick entirely, then use the instructions in the following as it applies to the version of Windows you are using:
iTunes 11.1.4 for Windows- Unable to install or open
HT1925: Removing and Reinstalling iTunes for Windows XP
HT1923: Removing and reinstalling iTunes for Windows Vista, Windows 7, or Windows 8
You may be required to boot into safe mode to complete the folder deletion process.

IDVD on Lion OS X - Custom Install iLife '09

Since iDVD is no longer offered by Apple as part of the "iLife package" that comes with new Macs running Lion OS X (10.7.x) I was searching for info about custom installing iDVD from an iLife '09 package . I stumbled across a few threads (including this one) but none that I found clearly outlined how to do it so I thought I'd add this post for folks that follow
The iLife '09 package contains iPhoto, iMovie, iDVD, iWeb and Garageband. If you want iDVD you'll need to buy a copy of iLife '09 or a Mac Box Set which includes OS X 10.6, iWork '09 and iLife '09 to get it.
I wanted to install iDVD '09 while avoiding conflicts with iMovie '11, iPhoto '11 and Garageband '11 (and I didn't have use for iWeb '09 since it's no longer supported).
To custom install iDVD '09 from an iLife '09 package disc...
- Be sure that iPhoto '11, iMovie '11 and Garageband '11 are already installed (available from the Mac App Store if needed).
- Insert the iLife '09 disc, click "Continue" and for each item in the left-hand menu including "Introduction", "Read Me", "License" and Destination".
- Let it run the initial application search to determine which applications to install. (This will allow it to find the newer installations of iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband.)
- Click "Continue" until you reach the "Installation Type".
- Click on the "Customize" button.
- On the next screen select iDVD. (iPhoto, iMovie and Garageband were appropriately greyed out since they were already installed.)
- After you've selected iDVD click "Continue" and let it finish.
iDVD installed on my late 2008 iMac and my late 2010 Macbook Air, both running Lion OS X 10.7.3 and works as expected.

An iLife '11 disc isn't available from Apple that I know of. Amazon offers an "Old Version" of iLife '11 but there's no mention of iDVD.

My late 2010 Macbook Air came with iLife '11, but not with iDVD. I've also read other posts that say that you can't. Very confusing. Perhaps someone will come along with a clear answer.
In any case, I wanted iDVD on my late 2008 iMac (which of course didn't come with Lion), so installing it from my iLife '09 disc did the trick.

Custom install of Oracle XE

I wish to install Oracle XE with Oracle Network Utilities, Oracle Database Utilities, SQL*Plus, Oracle Windows Interfaces. To do this apparently I must use custom install of XE. I do not see this option available during installation. What am I missing? Thank you

What do you mean by "Oracle Network Utilities, Oracle Database Utilities, SQL*Plus, Oracle Windows Interfaces"?
There are a lot of utilities and tools included with Express Edition. A reasonably comprehensive list of features and utilities is in the Licensing document at http://www.oracle.com/pls/xe102/homepage
However, if you are referring to the utilities such as 'Oracle Network Manager", 'Oracle Enterprise Manager" and so on, then you must look at the 'for fee' editions.

You're right to be skeptical about such upgrade notices. I would be, too. Particularly one with that wording.
Do you have an Air Display Host app installed? If you do, then go to the vendor's web site — not to any other download sites — and download the update only from there, or — if you have it and are not using it — consider deinstalling the package. Also see if there are notices about the installer / upgrade failure posted there.
As an alternative to what that package appears to do, Mavericks offers AirPlay Display, so you might not need the Air Display Host package, if you're using it.
The Air Display Host vendor I located performs a drive-by download of their software when you visit their download page, something which makes me skeptical. (Just to avoid fallout from these drive-bys, I have Safar set to disable automatically opening "safe" file attachments, and killed the download before it completed.)

MAC Pro and Custom Install of X11

I am obviosuly missing something really simple here but how do you do a custome install on the MAc Pro. I cannot find the otpion, that I though was availbe to me on my old G5. I am not happy about starting the MAC using the Install disjk as it seems to suggest that this will do a re- install of the OS without giving me the option to select only the X11 software

This is ADOBE CREATIVE SUITE 4, It installed just fine but now when I put the CONTENT disk in nothing happens, I looked in its .INF file and it said Autoplay.exe was supposed to run, but as far as I can tell it isn't there. Help please, anyone.

What files are you getting the messages for?
Fonts can be copied to the Common Files\Adobe\Fonts folder and they will be available to all Adobe applications, to the Program Files\...\Adobe Indesign CS4\Fonts folder, and only ID will see them, or you can install them in the Windows Fonts folder using the regular Windows font installer (open the Fonts folder and choose File > Install new font... Don't try to copy them to this folder in the regualr way.), and they will be available to all programs you have installed.

Edit: I forgot which forum I was on. Each of the applications in the suite may have it's own fonts folder, but you'd be best off using the common fonts or windows fonts folder.

I have matched my object with few other archiving objects and things looks similar.

But when i enter ZSCS_TRAFO, i get this error :

Message no. BA057
Diagnosis
A function cannot be executed due to a missing table entry.
Procedure
Please create an entry for the archive object ZSCS_TRAFO with the AOBJ transaction.
However, a few other Z objects works well.
