To Andrew - HP Mac Architect: HP LaserJet CM2320n MFP

Andrew,
Any time frame yet on the SL driver for the LaserJet CM2320n MFP? I'm particularly interested in the scanner (the printer is already supported through software update, I believe). I've checked the HP website and nothing up yet.
Also, will the new driver default the document feed scan to letter size (it is legal size in 10.5 with the current driver, and with the document feeder the scan size cannot be set to letter in 10.5 - it is "stuck" at legal; multiple page docs have to be shot on the flatbed one at a time to get letter size). There are numerous case numbers over at HP on this issue, and I'm hoping the CM2320n MFP will work properly under 10.6 as a result of HP's new driver.
Any info will be most appreciated!

pcbjr,
If you have already installed anything on top of Snow Leopard, and you don't have things working, here are the places to delete:
1) Delete anything that starts with hp from /System/Library/Extensions.
2) Delete /Library/Application Support/Hewlett-Packard.
3) Delete anything that starts with hp in /Library/Frameworks.
4) Delete anything from /Library/Image Capture/Devices, Support, and TWAIN Data Sources that have anything that starts with HP.
5) Delete /Library/Printers/hp.
6) Delete all the files from /Library/Printers/PPDs/Contents/Resources that start with HP (or if you only have HP printers, delete /Library/Printers/PPDs)
7) Make sure the is nothing that starts with com.hp in /Library/Preferences.
8) Delete the folder /Application/HP LaserJet (your model) MFP (Series)
Just trying to help.

  • Driver Question for Andrew (HP) or Anyone Else:LaserJet CM2320nf MFP, 2600n

This has been posted by me in threads but keeps getting lost in betwixt 1000's of others - so I'm starting anew
Will there be a driver for the HP LaserJet CM2320nf MFP that allows scanning,
and for the LaserJet 2600n that allows printing?
Both under warranty and for both I get nowhere from HP (support, telephone, email).
I'm rolled back to 10.5.8 until my office can use these, or I go to Windows after 25 years on a Mac.
    Message was edited by: pcbjr

HP is steadily rolling out new drivers, but this is not an Apple problem since HP supplies the drivers. Apple did recently release the HP Printer Drivers 2.1 update a couple of days ago. You can install it to see if drivers for your printer have been supplied. However, only HP can tell you if and when new drivers will be available for both printing and scanning.
Meanwhile you could try VueScan that may support scanning on your device. Or you could try installing the SANE TWAIN driver (may or may not support scanning for your device.) Both can be found at VersionTracker or MacUpdate.
In general it's always a good idea to avoid upgrading in a business environment until you know that all your hardware is supported by manufacturer updated drivers/software. Apple is not responsible for this.
Of course if you think it's less expensive to move to Windows (assuming it supports your hardware) then perhaps that's what you should do.

  • Andrew ??? -- HP LaserJet CM2320nf MFP

Will the scan capability in the HP LaserJet CM2320nf MFP, be supported sometime? New drivers? When (if ever)?

    pcbjr,
With any luck, you should see the full solution online sometime next week. Without luck it will be the week after.

  • Full Uninstall of HP Software? HP Mac Architect?

    Hi Andrew,
Are you able to tell me how I do a Full Uninstall of HP software on Mac OS X?
I run the HP uninstall app but I feel there are other HP files hiding in my system.
Reason I ask is that I had to restore my drive from a Time Machine backup and ever since, my HP software no longer recognises my MF All-In-One as a scanner/fax. I can only print now.
I have all the correct drivers for 10.6 etc.
I tried re-installing the HP Full Solution, and when I run the HP Setup Assistant, I get to the final stage where it shows my a confirmation of all my settings, I click Continue, and nothing happens. I can't get to that 'Finished' step in the Setup Assistant and I feel this is causing my Mac to not recognise my printer properly.
    Thanks.

    Dear Templeton:
When Snow Leopard hit the scene almost one year ago, many people has issues with their HP printers, scanners, and Multi-Function devices. I know because I was one of them.
An HP employee using the pen name "Mac Architect" became a fixture on the Snow Leopard forums here, trying his best to answer questions and concerns. His most common answer was "Be patient. HP will update your drivers as quickly as possible."
Those early Snow Leopard/HP forum threads were some of the longest I have ever witnessed here. I think many of us were comforted, at least somewhat, by having an HP employee responding to our problems here on the Apple forums.
My HP problem was finally solved by December with the release of driver updates for my scanner, so I haven't paid much attention since. But I think the original poster on this thread was simply reaching out to the fabled Mac Architect of HP, who has been so helpful in the past on the Apple Snow Leopard forum.
    Happy computing.

  • HP Officejet Pro L7580- here's a new one for HP Mac Architect

So like all the other disgruntled HP users who foolishly installed 10.5 when it was released, I have been without a scanner ever since. Until three days ago, however, I've been able to print, as the driver for the L7580 was included in Leopard. Now, whenever I try to print a document, the print queue opens and the job says "stopped", which, incidentally, is the same thing that happens when I send a print job to my other once-was-a-printer-now-just-a-giant-waste-of-space, the Canon LBP5000. I've racked my brain trying to think if I've done something to trigger this, pestered the HP call in support center, installed, uninstalled and installed the printer again, restarted, replaced the USB cable- anything I can think of. Nothing works. I run a small business and while it's been a huge inconvenience to lose my not so inexpensive scanner, I've made due with an old one waiting for HP to get their act together and release software that actually works with 10.5. Needless to say, I cannot work without a printer. Am I going to have to go back to Tiger now? Spend untold thousands of dollars on a printer that probably won't work with leopard anyway? Can anyone advise? HP Mac Architect?

Try this for a Quick Fix ...........
After reading other forum comments from people having the same problem with the yellow cartridge popping-out, combined with others who have realised that HP have no interest in compensating anyone for this rediculous example of, at best, 'bad design', or at worst 'blatent planned obsolescence', I have created a 'quick fix' that may add another 1, 2 or more years of life to the HP Officejet Pro L7580 Printer.
This is not the elegant technical solution I was hoping for.  However, in hindsight, it may prove to be a more reliable solution than replacing the faulty part that is actually causing the problem.  So, here it is the Quick Fix ........
I found a wooden triangular door stop that I cut to size that fitted exactly in the space between the plastic door and the offending yellow cartridge. To hold it in place, I wrapped the doorstop with 2" cellotape, then I stuck the door stop to the inside of the plastic door with double sided cellotape (double sided stick-on foam would also work well). With the doorstop in the correct place, the plastic door closed perfectly and was snug enough to apply sufficent pressure to the offending yellow cartridge, and hence stopping it from popping out again.  To make sure the plastic door does not 'fly open' with the pressure of the yellow cartridge (when it wants to pop out!), I applied another piece of 2" cellotape around the outside of the door, holding it to the body of the photocopier.
This exercise only took 10-15 mins to do.  I feel this is a much better option than spending another $300+ on a new All-in-One  system, as well as being a good environmental solution.  If this is DELIBERATE 'planned obsolescence', companies like HP need to be more accountable for, at best, 'sloppy design'.  Any feedback would be appreciated.

  • Problems configuring HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP with Mac via AirPrint

    Hello,
I have a HP Laserjet M1213nf MFP printer, connected to a Dlink DSL-2730U ADSL router. I am having problems configuring the printer with my Macbook running OSX Yosemite. I can see the printers name in nearby printers but when I try to add the printer, the mac gives me an error saying, "unable to communicate with the printer at this time". The network settings on the printer are configure for iPv4 and iPv6 addresses.
Previously, I had the ADSL DSL-2750U model router, and the printer was connected fine. I did not face any issues then. I have been facing problems since I changed my router so the problem should be in the router. I have the IP for the printer reserved in the DHCP reservation list on the router settings using the mac address of the printer.
Can someone please help me out here? Is there something I am probably missing.
    Rgds
    ~n~

I talked to the DLink Support. They asked me to disable an option called "MultiAP Isolation" and Voila, the printer is working fine. I can add it to all my devices on the wireless network. I looked up google. Apparently, this isolation feature present in some routers, prevent wifi clients to interact with other devices connected to the wired network and also with each other. Thats why only my desktop which was also connected wired was only able to access the printer and not the laptops connected wirelessly.
Problem solved. Thanks for all your help on this one.
    Cheers!

  • HP Laserjet M1132 MFP on Mac OS 10.7 - No Scanner Detected

I just installed the HP Laserjet M1132 MFP on my mac mini (mid 2011) with OS X 10.7 (Lion).
I have the printer working fine with the right driver comming from the installation disk.
I have also upgraded the firmware to the latest one available for download from there site.
One thing happen during the installation was that I couldn't finish the installation properly at the time of applying custom settings, the wizard prompted me "You must have administrative right ....", which I have, and when mac OS needs it, he asks for it anyway. The only choice was to cancel, but drivers were installed.
Then, I launched HP Scan to check the scanner, and I have ... "No scanners availables" !!
I also run apple software update, but nothing!
Any help would be very much appreciated.
    Regards,
    Trezi!

Sorry if there are errors of grammar. I'm using google translator because I am Brazilian and I do not write in English, just read.
I bought my printer M1132 After installing the Lion, and came across the same error message. I managed to solve this issue by enabling the root user and installing the drives by the super user root. When you finish the installation, it did not show the error message described above, and the scannerfunctioned normally for the program "HP Director". The image capture MAC did not work, even the Readiris program that came with the printer. But the point I'm getting now typicallyscan the "HP Director"
As the root user is disabled by default, you should follow the tutorial below to activate the super user. Log in by root in the Login screen, click "Other User". Then type in the spacereserved for root user and then type your password. Shortlyfollowing section to install the printer driver as usual.
Steps to enable root user in Lyon:
From the Apple menu choose System Preferences....
From the View menu choose Users & Groups.
Click the lock and authenticate as an administrator account.
    Click Login Options....
Click the "Edit..." or "Join..." button at the bottom right.
Click the "Open Directory Utility..." button.
Click the lock in the Directory Utility window.
Enter an administrator account name and password, then click OK.
Choose Enable Root User from the Edit menu.
Enter the root password you wish to use in both the Password and Verify fields, then click OK.
    Important notes
Only the owner of a computer or its designated administrator(s) should have an administrator account or the root password.
Any user with an administrator account can become the root user or reset the root password.
A root password should be difficult to guess, containing both numbers and letters within the first eight characters.
A root user has the ability to access other users' files.
The root user has the ability to relocate or remove required system files and to introduce new files in locations that are protected from other users.
    I hope it helped!!

  • Mac cannot detect scanner option on HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw after trying every method

    Hello,
I have recently purchased the new printer HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw and I am having a lot of trouble trying to scan. I have spend hours trying to fix this.
I have tried all the methods on this website, (trying through preview, printers and scanners (no scanner option showing) image capture, etc. I have also installed all the necessary drivers with no luck (CD and from HP website)
Then I tried all the other methods that were listed, I have tried restarting, deleting drivers and proceeding through image capture, preview and sanner and printers,  it just does not have scan option anywhere.
The printer is working fine though, and I am connected to the printer through wifi
I do not know what else to try, please help.
    Kinds regards
    Zhanna

    Hi @student ,
I see by your post that you aren't able to scan through the wireless network. I would really like to be able to help you resolve this issue.
When you added the printer, did you add it as a Bonjour printer or did you have to type in the IP address and add it through IP Protocal? The reason I am asking is because when adding the printer through IP Protocal you can only print, your not able to scan with the printer added this way.
Check the driver name that is installed for the printer. It should list just the printer's name. (HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M177fw )
Click the Apple menu and then click System Preferences. Click Printers & Scanners, highlight the printer name on the left side and on the right side of the screen should show the name.
If the printer name isn't listed properly, delete it and add the printer name back in from the list. Click the - sign to delete the driver and then click the + sign to add the driver. (you might have to click the drop down to select the printer's name to add it in)
If you are still having issues, uninstall the printer software.
    Uninstalling the Printer Software.
Repair the Disk Permissions on the Mac:
    Close all applications.
On the Apple menu bar, click Go, click Applications and then click Utilities.
    Double-click Disk Utility.
Highlight your hard drive/partition on the left.
Click Verify and then Repair Disk Permissions.
    Restart the computer.
    Empty the trash.
    Reset the Printing System:
Note: This will remove all printers in the print and Fax/Scan, any printer removed can be re-added later by clicking the plus (+) symbol.
Click the Apple icon and then click System Preferences.
    Click Printers & Scanners.
Right-click (or Ctrl +click) in the left white side panel, then click Reset printing system.
Click OK to confirm the reset.
Type the correct Name and Password.
Click OK to reset the printing system.
Then install the printer software again. HP Color LaserJet Pro MFP M176/M177 Series Software.
If the issue persists, connect the printer directly to the Mac and try and scan through a USB connection. Just to rule out a network issue.
Please let me know the outcome.
    Have a fantastic day!

I can print by connecting the printer to the computer with USB connector. But without the driver, the printer is seen by the computer as a generic postscript printer; and the printer's special attributes such as 2-sided printing is not made available. Is there any alternative driver that may be used for this combination, please?

  • LaserJet m1217nfw mfp - wireless printing keep failing / dropping off on Mac OS 10.7.5

I have installed my LaserJet m1217nfw mfp at least 4 times in the past month using my Mac that's running on OS 10.7.5. The first time was with the CD that came with the printer, and the last 3 times was with the latest software downloaded from HP.
Each time, the wireless printing is set up and works without problem (using these official HP instructions: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=48mLZoRjJm0). But a few days later, when I try to do the wireless printing again from the same Mac, it can't find the printer on the network. And nothing about the network or router has changed.
It's quite frustrating. I doubt installing it for the 5th time is going to solve the problem once and for all.
    Any ideas much appreciated!
    Thanks

    Hello SC_W,
The IP address can be fixed by going to Setup > Network Config > TCP/IP Config from the printer front panel.
Then select Manual and set the IP as manual.. I would using an higher value to avoid IP conflicts (e.g. if the current IP is 10.0.0.1, change only the last part to 10.0.0.20 so the address will remain and won't be used by other devices when the printer is powered off.)
Although I personally doubt it will help assigning a fixed IP as Mac OS X uses Bonjour hostname to communicate with the printer (which is fixed) and not athe IP address as Windows uses.
Additionally, as Apple products uses Bonjour, I could see some discussions on this matter for the Home Hub 3.0.
    Below is an example:
    https://community.bt.com/t5/Other-BB-Queries/HomeHub-3-Apple-Bonjour-not-working-for-AirPlay-AirPrin...
If setting a fixed IP does not help, try the folowing to isolate the problem and ensure if Multicast packets transfer may cause the issue:
From your Mac go to System Preferences > Print & Scan, click the Plus sign and then click the IP tab.
Select the HP Jetdirect Socket protocol and type the IP as the address value.
Add the printer, you will see an additional print queue listed as the IP address.
Keep using this queue for printing and let me know if you may se any difference for this print queue..

  • Acrobat XI for Mac crashes my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP

Every time I try to print from Acrobat XI for Mac I get a fatal error code 79 on my HP Laserjet 1536dnf MFP.  The printer works fine with all other software.  Please help.

To expand on Michael Kazlow's response on behalf of Adobe …
There is absolutely nothing that Adobe software in its print process to directly cause this type of error. What may differentiate Acrobat XI printing from whatever other applications you are using might be the graphical complexity of the output from Acrobat (or Reader) triggering a firmware bug or a hardware error, possibly even a printer memory error if the file being printed is accessing memory that simpler jobs would never access.
