Hi
>>What are the things i hav to know ,if i want to become an EP consultant . ?
Thats a difficult question to answer because EP is a vast subject and there is a lot to learn. But in order to become a consultant SAP has laid down a course content which you will be able to access from service marketplace. Here's where you will find it.
http://service.sap.com -> Education, Consulting, Solution Areas and more -> Course Booking
>>I hav attended one interview , they hav asked me Whther i hav worked in any Front end,
other than PCD ..Wht r the other things i must hav to know ?
I am assuming that they would want to know if you have worked on SAP R/3 or such other front end.
>>Wht's the work difference bt Application side in EP & devlopment side in EP ?
Development in EP deals with creation of Portal applications that involves coding. You need to have a solid knowledge of Java, JSP, etc. for becoming a development consultant.
Whereas configuration deals more with the administration of EP.
Check out this link for details.

Also check out this weblog. It sums up all that I have mentioned above.
Beginning EP Development
Hope that helped.

  • Best Practice to start with SAP NetWeaver BI (BW) to become a BI consultant

    Hi there,
I have one Question. As consultant for SAP NetWeaver Portal (Development/Java), I would like to start with SAP NetWeaver BI (System Configuration, Customizing and Development with ABAP/ABAP OO) through e-learning and/or with (e)books.
A system for making practice is available.
Can someone give me a helpful guide how to start and become a BI Consultant for system administration and development within the next 12 months?
Some Questions I have noticed are:
    1) The system (application) environment of BI (what is integrated in it - e. g. within the portal, there is a storage for unstructured information like documents or virtual rooms for collaboration between departments - and what does it make)
    2) How does development in BI works (development environment, coding, debugging, building, deployment and test) and what is used stronger (ABAP or ABAP OO)? Here, I don't mean how to write ABAP or ABAP OO programs, only the infrastructure from development to transport to a target system
    3) How is a BI system to configure as default after installation?
    4) Good guides (e/books) to learn ABAP and ABAP OO (as far as possible oriented on the practive)
Of course, these are only a few Question and far from complete. Details and other important points will be appreciated.
    Many thanks,
    Cengiz

    Hi,
    1) The system (application) environment of BI (what is integrated in it - e. g. within the portal, there is a storage for unstructured information like documents or virtual rooms for collaboration between departments - and what does it make)
Document management from RSA1 transaction of BI helps to attach any unstructured documents at specific level in BI.
    2) How does development in BI works (development environment, coding, debugging, building, deployment and test) and what is used stronger (ABAP or ABAP OO)? Here, I don't mean how to write ABAP or ABAP OO programs, only the infrastructure from development to transport to a target system
BI has got  a separate tool and GUI to perform all the Extract, Transform and load related activities. ABAP is part of BI but you don't need much extensive ABAP learning. Basic ABAP is sufficient to write routines and extractors.
    3) How is a BI system to configure as default after installation?
May be a BASIS person can help you out here about the configuration but this is not the job of BI person.
    4) Good guides (e/books) to learn ABAP and ABAP OO (as far as possible oriented on the practive)
You can search for SAM Series learn ABAP in 24 days book. This book is sufficient to learn the ABAP required for working in BI.
But except ABAP you will have to completly learn the BI system to work efficiently.

    Durgesh.

  • Suggestion/help; want to become Techno Functional Consultant

I'm a SD Consltant, want to become Techno functional Cnt. please help me. is it ok to learn ABAP.
please guide me, what r the topics of ABAP I'd learn and from where I should start. which can be helpful to me to get it done.
Badly need of that, please help
    Thanks
    Sarat

Yes, you can become a techno functional consultant.
You can start by learning Debugging. That is a very important tool. And being a functional consultant it will be a boon for you. And I think this is the only thing you need to learn as far as ABAP is concerned.
Try to get familiar with ABAP transactions like SE38, SE80, SE11, SE14, SM30 etc.. etc....
Gradually you will learn to use them.

All you need to do is look business and talk business.

    Hi Raghu,
BW is part of SCM system.  As you have already worked in BW systems, I would suggest to take
training at SAP in that stuff on SCM lines.
I have attached a link containing the training catalog of SAP on those lines.  Please choose your
    relevant area in this list.

  • Becoming SAP consultant...

    Hello,
I have gain a lot of experience in developing business software in last 7 years and in previous 2011 year I had start learning about SAP so it happens that it got under my skin and I like it;)
What I would like to know is what are the first steps in becoming successeful SAP consultant, do I have to pass some strict courses/certifications or is it possible to be self-educated and to work normally as SAP consultant for any company?
Any suggestions are welcome and many thanks in advance!
    Cheers;)

    Hi Sam,
The first priority is to gain knowledge, not certification. Certification will help you and give you an edge once
you become knowledgeable in your area/domain.
You should start working as SAP consultant in a company. Gain enough knowledge and then go for certification
after few years. Then you will be able to perceive the certification. Otherwise you will just learn for certification
which will not be of much help in your career.
You can as well go through this blog as a reference on how things work at SAP.

  • Choosing carrier as FI consultant at the age of 33?

My Name is Jayanth. I am commerce graduate and Have done MBA/MCOM from Sikkim Manipal university which is a distance learning course. I graduated  in the year 2002. As a fresher I joined a Electronic distribution company as a Finance executive. There I was in to end to end accounting using Tally. So for 2 years I worked there. Then I joined a BPO and worked for 2 years as a Senior Process executive. I was using SAP with limited access and was in to Accounts Payable. Currently I am working for a software company for almost 7 years in to Accounts Payable with full access to SAP (can use all transaction codes of AP/AR/GL HR module as well. Now at the age of 33 I would like to become FI consultant. Kindly advise me is this a right decision at  this point of carrier/age. I heard that without proper experience it is hard to get SAP consultant job but can I use my end user experience with knowledge of FI implementation(would like to join SAP FICO course) to get in to market. Also not that our company does not have any support for SAP. Please advise can I tell the interviewer that I was doing support for our company along with Accounts Payable to get in to SAP FI consultant job market. Please reply to this ASAP as I have to take and move fast.
    Regards,
    Jayanth
    Bangalore

To become a FI consultant, you have to be very strong about the all configuration...
All consultants are responsible only for the configuration level work...
As you have the experience of 7 years in SAP as end user..
I hope you have the experience to become a FI consultant...
But all interviewers want to know about your configuration knowledge which can be done in SPRO.
Now you can well move to consultant level...
7 years is very much enough to become a consultant... You can apply job for a fresher SAP FI consultant... Your all end user experience will be added as SAP FI module experience..

  • From an ABAP developer to a functional consultant

    Hi,
I need some advices to help me improve my work as a junior functional consultant. I have been an ABAP developer for 2 - 3 years and then I moved to the role of functional consultant.
I have read that there is a higher probability to become successful as a functional consultant if you have a business background rather than a technical background...I have been moved to a junior functional consultant role for more than a year - I've been reading books on configuration and functional process flows and unfortunately the assignments on the project I'm working on are mostly specific developments rather than configuration of standard flows which gives me litlle exposure...
What can I do to improve my functional skills and is it true that it is more difficult to become a functional consultant if we have a technical backgorund?
Thanking in advance anyone who would reply.

What can I do to improve my functional skills
Gain experience and be open-minded. It's pretty much the only way to improve your problem solving and thus your "functional" skills.
Is it true that it is more difficult to become a functional consultant if we have a technical backgorund?
I don't think it can be expressed that vastly. I would personally always choose someone with a technical background over the one who talks about "Business" and essentially doesn't really know what he's talking about...
