To Cloud or not to Cloud (Nikon D7100)

I have a Nikon D7100 and posted awhile ago about Camera Raw. I finally went and purchased the cloud so I could have CS6 since my previous copy of CS5 was not going to be updated to contain my D7100 camera profile.
So I've been using the cloud and CS6 and am now wondering if I really need all this just so I can have my photos load in Adobe Bridge. Yes, it's convenient to have them in there so I only have to click on camera raw, but I'm not sure the monthly cost is worth it. I don't use ANY of the other adobe products that come with my monthly payment. No, I don't use lightroom. I am a casual photographer, trying to get better of course, but I'm wondering if I need all this!
I just tried using ViewNX2 to open all my raw photos. I saved the photos to *.tiff and then opened CS5 Adobe Bridge and voila. It works. Can anyone tell me if I'm missing out on something by doing it this way? It seems I could avoid this monthly cost by going with this workflow.

Yes you are missing out a lot because I get the impression you don't know yet the benefit of shooting Raw over jpeg. This is a learning curve that can be made as steep as you want but basically I can tell you that shooting Raw and save as a tiff without having used the options that are provided with ACR and Photoshop to get the most out of it is not the best workflow.
Raw is the data captured by your sensor in camera and you need a Raw converter to get an image out of it. What you see of the Raw file on the back of the camera is only the jpeg preview that is included in the Raw file. Some converters give kind of a start but mostly you want your own 'signature' for your images and this needs some skills and knowledge. Shooting Jpeg is letting the camera do your work for you. If you are pleased with it all is fine, however making changes or corrections in a jpeg file is far more limited compared to a Raw file.
You have lots and lots of different options to get as much as possible out of a Raw file and besides that, color temperature is added in the converter as you wish it to be without the colors getting shifted (as will be in a jpeg file if you correct to much) and also plus or minus 1 stop exposure is not giving much trouble. But as said, you need a good Raw converter for it and some knowledge. Bridge is a good start and from there make your selection for the keepers, open in ACR, make changes and the finishing touch is made in PS. Save it to the file format you like and finally use Bridge for the last metadata, keywords, renaming etc.
I don't know anything about Nikon's ViewNX2 but as a Canon user I suspect that it is not very much different to Canon Photo Professional. For me the vendor software is utterly useless due to very slow performance and an unproductive workflow, combined with to less options to make a good image.
It all comes down to your needs and wishes. Can't look at your budget but there seems to be a possibility to only subscribe to PS (check the education section of Adobe) in the Creative Cloud.
And if you have a trial version of CC running be sure to check the version of ACR. Use Photoshop / about Plug in / camera raw. It should say 7.4 and this version opens your d7100 NEF files

I have an iMac OS x 10.6.8 and always used iPhoto with good success, importing images including RAW format from my Nikon D40 into iPhoto. Since I bought a new Nikon D7100 camera I cannot upload the RAW images from its SC cards. Does anyone have an idea what the problem might be?

Apple occasionally releases software updates to include RAW formats for newer cameras, but apparently, OS X 10.6.8 Snow Leopard (assuming the OS shown in your profile is indeed the one you're using) does not support the Nikon D7100 RAW format:

Upgrading to at least OS X 10.7 Lion would apparently fix that problem.

What OS do you have? You say you have explained what you had (computer/opsys) but I honestly don't see it here. If you had mentioned that my advice would have been different; I believe you can only upgrade as far as Camera Raw 8.3 on an older Windows system. There is more information here (look specifically for the "Revert to 8.3 ..." titles).

What you've done/written in your last post confuses things further, unfortunately. Photoshop 13.1 is strictly a Creative Cloud version. The highest you can go is Photoshop CS6 13.0.1.3 with perpetual license.
And as far as I can recall, that version can work on Windows back to XP:

I don't think you're out of luck, but you seem to be leaping into doing things without having the full story, and are jumping to conclusions a bit too quickly.
Here's what I suggest you try:
1. Remove Photoshop entirely with the Creative Suite Removal Tool:
Use the CC Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems | CC, CS3-CS6
2. Install Photoshop CS6 from your original media or from here:
Download CS6 products
3. Update the application using its own Help - Updates process. That really should get you the latest Camera Raw version that will work. If that does not bring you a Camera Raw that works with your Nikon, use the "Revert to 8.3" instructions above.

Purchased new camera nikon d7100 and camera raw will not open any nef files, talked to tech support and they assured me an update would fix issue, did update and have same issue still

Please check this list to see which version of ACR supports the camera:
Camera Raw plug-in | Supported cameras
Then please check your version (Photoshop > About Plug-In > Camera Raw).
As you should see your version is not up to the task.
You can either buy a license for a more current version of Photoshop (CS6 is still available) or switch to the … Cloud License model or use the free DNG Converter.

Solved the problem. I had to allow cookies for safari and it run - as here: Re: itunes keeps asking for my apple id password. it's NOT entered incorrectly.

You can't add music to the cloud, whether it will show there for streaming and redownloading depends upon what country that you are in. If you are in a country where music is available in the cloud then you don't have to download the music from the store, if you turn Settings > iTunes & App Store > Music (under the 'show all' heading) 'on' then you should be able to stream purchased music in the Music app without downloading it - your phone will need to be online in order to stream, and if using 3G/4G then it will use some of your data allowance.
If you download an album or a track then it will be downloaded onto your phone. You can't upload music to the cloud from an iOS device. Whether music that you've bought shows for streaming depends upon what country that you are in and if the album or track remains in the store (unless you've subscribed to iTunes Match), and if you are connected to a network.

On the MBP, in iTunes, switch to Song view and enable the iCloud Status column by pulling down View > View options and selecting the option for "iCloud Status." Close the small window. Look for any tracks that have a status of "waiting." If you see several of them disable iTunes Match while holding down the Option key. Quit iTunes, wait a few seconds, then open it again and turn iTM back on. Let it compelete the scan. Wait until all tracks that are "waiting" have a status of either "matched" or "uploaded."
On the iPad, turn off iTunes Match then launch the Music app and let the contents clear out. Power cycle the iPad for good measure, then re-enable the service once all the tracks in iTunes have been processed.

what do you have? Version of iPhoto? Of the OS? How is the passport connected to your Mac? What format is the passport (for the iphoto library it must be Mac OS extended (journaled) )? The iPhoto library is not and can not be on the cloud (maybe later with the Photos Application)

If you have multiple devices backing up to the Cloud, you will see all of them listed. You would click on each device to change what is backed up from that device. You can then delete your individual back-ups.
Once you have all your settings to your liking, you can then go back to Settings>iCloud>Storage & Backup, and click on Back Up Now (bottom of the screen) to create a fresh backup with your new settings.

You have not specified which version of Premiere Pro was given to you. If you don't have the disc (which i suppose you don't have) you will have to download it online.
As far as your registration is concerned, for Premiere Pro CS6 or earlier you will have to reach Adobe chat support for further help: http://helpx.adobe.com/contact.html
For Premiere Pro CC and later, you will not have much problems reactivating it.

Creative Cloud is not up-to-date but it says it is.

Creative Cloud says my apps are all up-to-date, but in Illustrator I'm missing the Join Tool and in Photoshop I don't have Extract Assets either in the menu at the top or in the right-click/option-click contextual menu. I've uninstalled and reinstalled Creative Cloud, Illustrator, and Photoshop. I've uninstalled, deleted the OPM.db file and reinstalled. My apps are still not up-to-date with the options in the tutorials.
