To connect a soundblaster audigy 2 ZS to a DELL dimension 8400 front panel headphone/USB jac

Open your case and look at the your front panel USB and Headphone jacks.... look for a black cable and follow it with your fingers until you get to the end. Its should be plugged into your MOBO in a white socket. Carefully unplug it and plug it into a white socket on the top of your AUDIGY. The cable is barely long enough and you might have to mess with it to get it to reach........ that's it!!!!!!!! You can now use your front panel Headphone and USB jacks with your AUDIGY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Some older Audigy ZS's might not have the white plug.............Message Edited by MetalFloyd99 on 08-05-2005 08:2 AM

  • Static/Pop on my Soundblaster Audigy 2 in a Dell 8300 Dimension. Please help

Ok, granted my computer is 7 years old, but it has been flawless until recently. I don't know if it's my soundcard Soundblaster Audigy 2 (SB0240), my graphics card is the NVIDIA GeForce FX 5200. I have read about some NVIDIA conflicts, but nothing is new on my system since I bought it back in 2003. I have upgraded all the drivers on the SB0240 card and the graphics card and all the windows XP updates.
So could the static and hizzing mean my SB Audigy 2 card is bad and needs replacement? But before I do anything I wanted to ask the community for some advise on fixing and getting rid of the static/po
    ps.
    Thanks

Not that you should feel alone as there seems to be a myriad of people in the same boat as us, but I too have a similar experience. I've performed?everything posted as potential ways to resolve with no success. You mentioned that you were unclear about the PCI Settings component.
For me that seem rather simple. When the machine boots, hit whatever key needed to go into the bios (it is usually the Delete key on most systems). Look for a PCI settings that matches the latency resolution described. Honestly I never even paid attention to that setting in the BIOS before but after some poking around I found it and adjusted the settings as suggested.
I suspect that if look at all of the options in your?BIOS you'll find it.
After reading several posts on the suspect cause of the static and popping I?conceptually understand what lower the PCI latency does. Still?when you start changing things that have unknown implications, well I start to get nervous about things like that.
I took the risk because the problem is driving me nuts and I'm a bit masochistic and I won't stop until this is solved. In any event, be sure to capture the original setting so you can put it back after you're disappointed.
I must say that I was one of those that went and purchased an X-FI for another system that I bought. It doesn't crackle, it just refuses to work. I'm so disappointed as I have always used SB cards with zero issue and these latest generation ones are just not working.

  • Audigy 1 SB0090 and CoolerMaster Centurion 5 Front Panel Au

Hi is it possible to connect the front panel audio headers of the Cooler Master Centurion T05 casing to the Audigy SB0090 AUD_EXT header? I don't have the creative properity connecter(white connecter on top left of card) on the card.
Thanks and hope to hear some replies soon.

    hope for your replies... thanks...
    Audio output:
If you can't find a 0-pin Proprietary connector on Audigy's board then the only solution is split the signal from Front L/R cannel (it can be splitted from Rear L/R too, but you need to be able to output stereo signal to Rear L/R too (speakers set to 4/4., etc.)).
    Microphone:
Same base rules as above but no extra settings needed.

  • Front panel firewire/USB connection problems

I've connected all the wires from the front of my case to the appropriate slots on my mobo (K8N Neo Platinum), but none of them seem to be working. I rechecked the firewire pin positions, but to no avail. Maybe the wires are incorrectly labeled? I don't know what else to do.
    thx

Check your pinouts.  Apparently, Antec is one case manufacturer that includes an "extra" ground pin which can cause USB ports to fail (not recognized, intermittently recognized, causing the D-bracket to fail, all kinds of mischief).
I'll check it out later this evening and post the results.

This link says that grey is an USB+ and blue is a GND wire, yet they were switched in my connector, blue at the USB+ pin and grey at the GND pin... so I switched them back.. checking how they work first with a little something that only takes the power from the usb ports so I won't screw up something in them

  • Connecting Soundblaster Audigy 2zs to Home Theater Amplif

Can I connect my Soundblaster Audigy 2zs directly to an amplifier and still get 5.,6.,or7. speaker setup? I feel it's kind of redundant to use a reciever when the Audigy has all the capabilities of a Home Theater Reciever. And it outputs sound at 92khz, which currently is only available on more expensi've recievers.
My goal is to use my pc as a souce and connect it directly to amps and speakers. I would like to put money I save on recievers into a high end speaker system
I have read in the previous posts that it may be possible to do 5. by getting an mini jack to RCA adapter for each channel. But no details on 6. or 7..

I am in the same situation as you. As the CL told me
    http://forums.creative.com/creativelabs/board/message?board.id=soundblaster&message.id=5343 --
You can either use the audigy to decode the sound or your reciever to decode the sound with the SPDIF passthrough. Just whichever has the better specs.
From my situation I would recommend having speakers with analog hookups to the front/rear/center sub rather then the digital output. The only way to take advantage of the digital output is with a DVD and in that case you can just watch a DVD on your TV rather then your computer. For games the analog 5. hooks is better as well because with games it decodes it and with your reciever it would only have 2. sound.

  • Audigy 2 Platinum Front Panel Connecti

I recently began recording my band in our home studio. My mixing board is a Midas Venice 240 which has two balanced XLR outputs from the master bus. I am wondering what method I may use to connect this output to the /4" stereo input on the front panel of the Audigy 2 Platinum. If I just purchase a Y-adapter to combine the two channels into one XLR and then convert it to /4" TRS jack will both channels be preserved? Are there any sound quality issues that arise from this method of connection? I was hoping to get answers to these questions before wasting money buying unnecessary adapters.
    Thanks

The BEST way to do this is to go to radio shack and buy two (yes 2) of their?XLR to /4" Impedence Matching Transformers, AND?one (yes )?dual /4" female TS (tip-sleeve) to single /4" male TRS (tip-ring-sleeve) "Y" cable. Unless your mixer also has /4" main outs as well as the XLR... then you can just use the Y cable and skip the transformers. Or you can use a /8" Y cable with the transformers (and stereo /4 to stereo /8 adapter) and go into the card's line in jack on the actual card. Which is how I did it for a year or more untill i got a firewire recording interface (and it worked darn good too with my Soundcraft mixer and some good microphones). Either way,?you need the transformers for optimal results. The reason is the mixer's output impedence and level doesnt match that of the soundcard's input... mixer will likely overdri've the card, or the signal will sound weak or noisy.. The transformers?are cheap and are darn handy for loads of recording functions, and will provide the Audigy with exactly the type of signal it needs, properly transformed from the mixer. If you do this, you can record ALL of the mixer channels IN STEREO with all the panning, effects, and levels preserved. If you have multitracking software like Cubase or similar, you can even record an individual instrument (or even 2 at once, one panned left, one right... each assigned its own track in your software), come back on a new track (or pair of tracks), and record a different instrumet (or 2) and build a multitrack recording one performance at a time. PS:? you CANNOT just hardwire the mixer outputs and combine them into a single channel. A mixer is needed to properly combine?signals. Don't do it
!!! Have fun... and rock on.PSS:? make sure your overall cable is as short as possible. If you must run it for more than 6 feet then run it in XLR mode and convert it very close to the computer. The non XLR section of cable is an antenna for noise. The XLR section will be shielded against noise. Also, the transformers are kinda heavy so do not plug them into somthing and allow them to hang in the plug becasue the hanging weight will ruin your jack. Its best to run cables to the transformers, allowing them to lay on the floor... in a safe place where they wont get stomped on.

  • Connections for Inspire 5200 on a Dell Dimension

Is anyone aware of the proper connections to utilize the built-in 5.1 audio on a Dell Dimension 8400?
Are there any suggestions on which speaker system would be the best for a Dell Dimension if I should decide to replace my speakers?
Dell's online owner's manual shows that the black jack is for surround and the white jack is for the center. I have the jack for the speaker system's FRONT speakers plugged into the surround jack and the CENTER/WOOFER plugged into the center jack.
It would be nice to have real 5.1 sound coming from my computer since it's supposed to be able to handle it without using an Audigy card. I have an Audigy card in another computer, but I don't want to pull it if I don't have to.

    cconklin,
Not sure about your onboard audio but you should connect the onboard audio Front jack to the speaker system front input jack, Rear/Surround jack to the speaker rear input jack and lastly the Center jack to the speaker Center/Subwoofer input.

  • Loud crackeling noise and barely any sound-Audigy 2zs, Dell Dimension 2

I just installed audigy 2zs into my Dell Dimension 2400 and all Im getting is a loud crackle, like static, out of my center speaker (logitech 5. Thx). There is a faint bit of sound in the background also, and no sound at all from the other speakers. Any suggestions? I think I have all the drivers installed and all the tests have passed. Thx.

I have also had some issues with the sound card popping and cracking. It only happens when I am either playing a cd, DVD or a video game. I have a Compaq Presario 2500 laptop, dvd/dvd-rw dri've Maxtor usb2 external hard dri've, Targus 7 port usb2 router, wireless mouse and keyboard, and finally my Audigy 2 NX sound blaster. Seriously I have tried everything and to no avail. I have even wiped the computer just for kicks. I only had the sound card working properly but it didn?t last. What I did was to uninstall the drivers for the DVD dri've and shut down the computer. After the computer started back up it reinstalled the DVD drivers and I had good quality sound.... or so I thought. About 2 days later the same problem arose and I uninstalled the drivers again but this time it did not fix the problem. I have the windows updated, DVD driver?s updated sound card updates EVERYTHING but I still get the static in the speakers only when I am trying to listen to a cd play a video game or watch a DVD. When you have a 4 thousand dollar sound system connected to your sound card would expect good sound from it. Plus the email technicians have emailed me a million things to do but have those worked? NO! I am starting to think that Creative doesn?t care about its costumers anymore. I have seriously thought about getting a different sound card but I have not. I like my 7. surround sound when I listen to mp3 and watch movies that I have ripped on the computer. Someone please give me some advice this sound card is really trying my patience.

.I am building a new system but the front panel connections in thr mobo manual need clarification for me .
     Front panel connections jfp1 & jfp2
      jfp2 -- 4pin speaker wire 2-8

      USB 2 & USB 3
      4 pin connector vcc , usb- , usb+, gnd 2-8 or 1-7
this cable has an extra gnd wire I would imagine you just leave this unconnected as there is no 9pin & 10 is usboc .

  • Audigy 2z Front bay headphone j

I own a Platinum for 2 years and never used the front headphone jack.
I bought a good pair of cans to my MP3 and tried to hear them in my computer too.
Updated all drivers but there is no sound coming out from the front jack.
I think that the front bay is working, because when I connect my handycam into the firewire jack windows imediatly finds it.
I sought a lot of threads concerning headphones jack and front bay left answered and I'm starting to wonder if this is a hardware bug of this card combo.
    Any help is very welcome.

Check there is a red light in the optical out port, the 394 connection is not a good guide to check if the front panel works.

  • Connecting Sound Card to Antec Sonata front panel line out (Headphone) j

I've tried finding an answer to this, but is there ANY Sound Blaster product that has the capability of connecting to the front panel headphone jack an Antec Sontata case? My current card is a basis Sound Blaster Li've! card, model SB0220, and would upgrade if possible. Thanks for any help.

This perhaps not so easy matter you may suppose. Try Driver Heaven forum for example, to find answer, if there is even a possibility to do this (technically there is but has somebody described it)?

  • Audigy 2 NS Front Panel Headph

Purchased this particular model due to the front panel containing a headphone jack. But I get no sound from it. Now I am using Winamp, iTunes or MS WMP. So my question is - the front panel headphone jack, is this only for devices that you hook up directly to the front panel? Should I be able to hear any sound coming from whatever audio source that is generated from the computer through this jack?
I am really stumped on this one. Have searched KB & forums, tried all the suggestions, and can get no sound from the FP HP jack utilizing Winamp, iTunes & MS WMP or anyhting else. Ribbon cable is connected correctly. Beatiful sound from speakers and if I disconnect from the rear and connect the headphones from here, no problemo, get sound all day long. But this defeats the purpose of having a jack in the front.
Hope someone can shed light on this.

  • Digitally Connecting Soundblaster audigy 2 to sonydav s550 home theatre sys

Hi, I have a Soundblaster audigy 2 im not sure which model but it has a pink digital out audio socket on the back of it. My sony system has a digital optical in socket on it. I am having problems connecting them. I brought the following
    http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?...gital&doy=26m5
as it has a miniplug adaptor which i thought I could use on one end to connect to my soundcard digital output and connect the other end to my home theatre system. Did I get the wrong wire? If so what wire will I need to connect them, will miniplug not fit on the soundblaster digital out, what does? I have messed around with the control panels with no luck. Anyone have any ideas, by the way Im new to this. Thanks in advance

    Hello all,
I am having a similar issue. I would like to connect my Audigy 2ZS to a Sony Reciever (STR DE-898) preferably via the digital out. The sound card and reciever are 25 feet apart.
I have read that the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS is specifically for creative lab speakers, and that if you connect it to a normal reciever that it may damage the reciever is this true?
Second, the other option that I have is to buy the 7. adaptor and connect RCA extension cables to the reciever.
The last option is to connect it to the regular headphone jack out, and use an extension cable to connect to the reciever (This is what I am currently using), but the sound quality is terrible.
Please help, I read the recent post on digital out ,which helped some, but still the question remains... if you connect the digital out on the Audigy 2ZS to a Sony receiver will this damage the receiver?Message Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:38 AMMessage Edited by asharabi98 on 05-27-2006 0:39 AM

  • Connecting Soundblaster Audigy 2 to 2 speaker syste

    Hi all,
I am using a Soundblaster Audigy 2 ZS. My PC is connected to a 7. Creative THX system.
    That is working pretty fine.
I also have my LCD TV connected to my PC as secondary display and I've got a Teufel 5. system which I want to connect to the audigy.
Reason: I want to watch movies played on my PC on my normal television. I could of course connect the audigy to the Teufel system, BUT this would mean switching cables all the time (from PC 7. to TV 5.).
Is there some kind of high quality switch with which I could save this reconnecting of cables all the time?
    Thanks a lot in advance.
    and kind regards
