You just need the FTP username and password. Most often the
FTP host name
will be 'www.example.com', and the host directory will be
determined after
you are able to make the FTP connection. Alternatively, you
could as the
host/client what is the name of the directrory containing the
website files.
Please read through the DW F1 Help pages about how to define
a site before
embarking on this.

  • I have downloaded a no charge copy of Reader from the IBM site, but it says I have to pay

I downloaded a copy of reader from the corporate IBM site, which I understand is no charge, but now I am being asked to pay.  Do I actually need to pay?

I do not find any Adobe Reader download on the ibm.com site; all mention of Reader links to the adobe.com site.
How are you "asked to pay"?  Can you post a screenshot?
Anyway, download the free Reader from http://get.adobe.com/reader/ and make sure you uncheck any bundled software you don't want.

  • Need some help with downloading PDF's from the net.

need some help with downloading PDF's from the net.  Each time I try to click on a link from a website, if it takes me to a new screen to view a pdf, it just comes up as a blank black screen?  any suggestions?

    Back up all data.
Triple-click the line of text below to select it, the copy the selected text to the Clipboard (command-C):
    /Library/Internet Plug-ins
    In the Finder, select
    Go ▹ Go to Folder
from the menu bar, or press the key combination shift-command-G. Paste into the text box that opens (command-V), then press return.
From the folder that opens, remove any items that have the letters “PDF” in the name. You may be prompted for your login password. Then quit and relaunch Safari, and test.
The "Silverlight" web plugin distributed by Microsoft can also interfere with PDF display in Safari, so you may need to remove it as well, if it's present.
If you still have the issue, repeat with this line:
    ~/Library/Internet Plug-ins
If you don’t like the results of this procedure, restore the items from the backup you made before you started. Relaunch Safari again.

  • Can't open files from the 'net...

Whenever I try to open a file downloaded from the net, it opens with TextEdit...same thing with radio station add-ons...how can i stop/fix this?

Yes, it is City of Heroes, and renaming the file sent it to the zip archive...when i try to open it, it duplicates itself... the site says i need a .NET 2.0 framework...?
    Hi,
the .Net 2.0 framework is an application layer which is only used with Microsoft Windows !
Therefor the zip file you have seems to also be for Windows only and can not be run in OSX.
If you are running the CoH game while in Windows, you can download the .Net framework from here: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?displaylang=en&FamilyID=0856eacb -4362-4b0d-8edd-aab15c5e04f5
Later versions of the .Net framework can be found, when scrolling down on that website.
As said you can only use this when running Windows on your Mac, not in OSX.

  • Can't copy domain.sites from iDisk to harddrive

I thought it would be a good idea to move my domain.sites file from my local hardrive to iDisk so I could work on my web site while on the road.
I was wrong. It was a lousy idea. It takes forever to load, save, and publish. What a pain.
Now I want to copy the domain.sites from the iDisk to my harddrive but it won't do it. I get a message saying I don't have permission to read some of the files. ***! It's my darn file, I shouldn't need permission, but that's besides the point.
How can I get my domain.sites file of the POS iDisk and back to my harddrive?
    Thanks everyone

Yeah, the whole Domain file on the iDisk idea always seemed iffy to me. Sorry to hear about your troubles.
Try this....try selecting your Domain file on your iDisk, then do a Get Info on it (Apple-i or File>Get Info). In the window that opens, look all the way to the bottom where it says Ownership and Privileges. Click on details. Click on the lock to make changes. See if you can change the ownership to yourself or maybe some of the read/write privileges there.
I wonder if this will make a difference. Let me know.

  • Safari stopped downloading from the net.

For some reason, I can't figure out, Safari and Firefox all of a sudden won't allow me to donwload anything from the net. Safari switches the URL to the download site, then immediatley switches back to the URL of origin. I have checked the preferences and reloaded all the applications from my start up disks. Still won't work.

Thanks Bee! That worked like a charm :~) Everything back to normal

    Guys,
I think whenever you put a download "enhancer" on
    your computer,
then just trash it, it leaves behind lots of files
    all over the place.
Speed Download comes with an UNinstaller.
That's pretty much what you need.
You could try doing a "find"
(pressing the Apple key along with the letter "f"
    key)
and type in the name of the application. Then do the
    same thing
for the company name (SpeedDownload=Yazsoft, Pam).
Then delete all all files that you find, restart your
    computer, and try again.
See if that helps, and then let us know how you're
    doing.

  • Can not copy a URL from the address bar/line

Why is it proving so difficult for me to copy a URL from the address bar using Safari?  When I click on the link I want to copy, it does not highlight.  I have used Command L and Command C, and that works but there has to be a simpler way.  I also read that if I click the address bar once, then press the control key and click on it again that a menu would appear with cut, paste, copy.  That does happen, but all options are greyed out, and not selectable.  Another google search resulted in someone saying there was a button or arrow to click on and that this tool would copy the URL.
The URL I am copying is very long, longer that the address bar window
    What Gives Here?

Click the icon (favicon) to the left of the URL.
That will select the entire URL.
Command C will copy the URL.

  • Can you copy/paste files from the Finder to Mail in Lion, or drag them onto the Mail icon in the Dock to create a new message and attach the files to it?

Message title says it: Can you copy/paste files from the Finder to Mail in Lion, or drag them onto the Mail icon in the Dock to create a new message and attach the files to it?
I can't find anything in the Knowledge Base that says these two options no longer work or still do.
I do not have a system capable of running Lion, but I need to know the answer nonetheless.

Gee, I don't know: "paste attachments mail Lion"? ;-)
One further question, if I may: in Panther (which is where I've aggregated nearly 7 years of mail), if you copy more than one file in the Finder, switch to Mail, and paste the files into a new message, only the file names paste in. If you copy one file and paste it into a Mail message, you get the file, not just the name. Is that still true, or has that (IMHO) bug been fixed since 10.3.9?

how can I download a video from the net? is there is any special download softwear than realplayer?

There are a variety of file formats for storing and sending video. You will probably want to install VLC, which handles most open formats. RealPlayer is used on their proprietary format.

Hi - I'm trying to sync iBooks on my Macbook Pro with iBooks running on my iPad. I have some pdf's download from the net I want to share between devices and I can't work out how to sync the two devices. Any help please? I'm running Mavericks

Thanks for your help Brij011 - much appreciated. Apologies as I'm a newbie but I've looked at the info for synching and I appear to have all the switches flicked on my iPad. Does the iPad and iBooks only sync in iCloud for purchases as I appear to be doing something wrong. I could sync ok when books was in iTunes but since migrating to Mavericks I think I'm doing something wrong!!

  • Recording audio from the net ?

What are simple means to record an audio stream from the net on my PowerBook, like a podcast (not a live broadcast, not a line-input) ? Can QuickTime do it ?
    Thanx in advance,

    Hmm...
Sorry, I don't like to argue with you but I just bought QT-Pro and made a test:
I recorded music played on an Internet webpage (I believe by means of a Flash Player) with QT-Pro.
Then I played it back again in QT - and it was there - although in poor sound quality.
