To copy Number Ranges in a client copy

Hello All,
I have to do a client copy of our Golden client ( Development) to Production system. The client in PRD is fresh. They do not want the application data to be copied to PRD client. They only need the customizing configs to be copied to PRD along with the number ranges. If i use the SAP_CUST profile to do client copy, it says that application data is deleted( which in my case is not existing as it is new client) and number ranges are RESET. What does it mean by "RESET"?
In my case, how can i copy the existing number ranges of my Golden Client to PRD client? Can i use SAP_CUST profile for copy? which profile can be used to copy number ranges? WIll the number range be copied along with cust configs using SAP_CUST? I am very confused. Please help me with this.

Hi,
Firstly, I am not agreeing with your point to do a copy from Development client to production client though it is a Fresh client. Why you are using this approach? You can do the transports of customization from development to production. This approach is not advisable. Please check it again before you proceed with this procedure.
As per my knowledge, number ranges has to be defined manually in any (production) systems. You can open the production client for changes and then create the number range and then close it.

Dear All,
We Issue an Returnable Gate Pass with Material .
These RGP has common series for all the plants.
For example, in 1200 plant we have issued RGP with series number 4900003295 dated 21.07.08 and in 1400 plant we have issued RGP srl no. 4900003235 dated 03.07.08. The system is generating the number from one Number series only.
This is serious problem.
My Client wants to get the different Number Range for RGP issued from Different Plants.
Points will be awarded .

Hello,
Please note that Number Range is at Client Level hence you cannot have different number range for different plants. Th same is not possible in SAP.
However there is a workaround, in MIGO we have GR/IR field. In this field we can go in for automatic number range based on Plant. By doing this you can explain you client that though the Material Document number range will remain the same but still by looking at the GR/IR number you can easily differentiate as to which Plant.
You can define the same in Materials Management>Inventory Management and Physical Inventory > Number Assignment > Define Number Assignment for Goods Receipt/Issue Slips

Order number ranges

Hi,
I hv 2 plants say 1000 & 2000
In both plants products are define with 2 different catergories say Residential and Industrial.
Now if m define order type as per above two category say Z001 and Z002 in both plants.
so can it possible to give different number ranges in both plants with same order type.
As per my knowledge number ranges is at client level.
But if i want to define at plant specific with same order type, so can it possible?
Plz clear me?

Its 100% Possible , You must be maintain Group and there Number range define , After that , Oder type assign here.
There order Type Number may be external or internal as per your requirement.

my problem is
Capital work in progress number ranges for company attachment groups one client i.e 000 showing. but another client 800 not showing the same groups for assignment of company code.
why like this?
profit center accounting number ranges groups one client showing but another client not showing same group. T.Code: GB02.
why like that showing difference groups for each client. where i can
please anybody resolve the problem. last four days i am facing the same problem.

Number Ranges in Q.M

Dear Gurus,
We have two plants in our company code and we are implementing QM for both the plants.I have regarding number ranges--> Inspection Number Ranges for Inspection Characteristics,Number Ranges for Inspection Methods,Number Ranges for Inspection Plans,Number ranges for inspection lot..etc
My query is -->Are these number ranges maintained at client or plant level.I think its client,but no sure.How can define number for different plants for the all above mentioned .

Ram,
As per SAP standard Inspection lot number range we can not maintain plant wise.
Please follow following path to get idea:
SPRO --> Quality Management --> Quality Inspection --> Inspection lot creation --> Maintain Number ranges.
Here you would see this number range are stored in inspection lot origin, they apply to the entire client. So it would be applicable to client wise not plant wise.
So if you maintain number range for "01" like From 010000000000 to 019999999999, then this number range would be applicable to all plant of client for 01 origin.
If you still want to assign number range plant wise then you can maintain custom table for number range inspection type and plant wise, but to define number range externally plant wise is not advisable.

Number range object creation

Hi,
I've created my number range object in client 100.When I test it in client 100 it works fine.I'm using FM NUMBER_GET_NEXT.When I try to test in a test client 200 it gives me an error message 'ZBATCH_CLT, number range interval 01 does not exist'.What could be the problem?

Hi,
The number range itself is not client independent. Did you check SNUM for 'ZBATCH_CLT'? You might need to add interval 01 first.

Material Master Number Range Issue

Dear Experts,
One of Our Client has 3 company codes and each company has seperate material master.
Company 1: 0100000000 to 0399999999 (10 Characters)
Company 2: 2010000000 to 9999999999 (10 Characters)
Company 3: 10000000000 to 99999999999 (11 Characters)
Is it possible to configure all the three number ranges in Same Client using different Material Type ?.
According to client, the number ranges are not overlapping.
Please suggest.

Creating number ranges in PRD

Good afternoon,
I understand it is advisable to create number ranges in each client. When using SNRO in PRD we have to open the client via SE06 and SCC4. We do not like having to open PRD client. Is it possible to create number ranges in PRD without having to open client?

Every team will have firefighter ID for such purposes. Before logging to the user ID, you will be asked to maintain the reason for login. So, all the changes made through firefighter ID is tracked. So, check with your basis team to provide access for maintaining number ranges under this ID.

Controlling Area Number Range Goup

Hi,
We have 3 Clients at Development. 1.Golden Client 2. Unit Test Client 3. Sand box. i have maintained Controlling Area and Number range at Golden Client. i have assigne Groups to Conrolling area like COIN, RKU1 ect.
When i am assigning Groups at Unit Test and Sand box but its not showing Groups.There is not any list at Non-assigned.
We have not transport number range to other clients.

How to copy CO Document Number Ranges in KANK.

I need to config CO Document Number Ranges in KANK.
I want to copy the existing group and elements from controlling area 0001 (provided in SAP) to my controlling area.
But, there is an error message saying that my controlling area and the controlling area 0001 have different elements and thus can not be copied.
Why is that?
And, how to copy it so I can have the same groups, intervals, and elements with controlling area 0001?

I am creating a new personnel subarea using copy the personnel subarea in enterprise structure definition.
(Copy, delete, check personnel subarea)
While doing this I am getting prompt about number ranges over writing issue.
It seems that number ranges in production system may get affected due to this transport.
So I am planning to note all the available number ranges in production system before transport and reset similar as earlier after the transport directly in production
OR
set number ranges in development similar in production then to transport to production.
Please comment on the above approach.
I am planning to check on the following number ranges only
Tcodes u2013OONR ( for OM) and PA04 (for PA)
Can you suggest in case if any other number ranges to be taken care?

I created new plant by copying from existing one.
I choose option not to transport Number Ranges. I got the message new plant was created without 6 number range objects.
After transporting customizing into test system I got errors due to incorrect number ranges (ie. during PO creation).
What number ranges I need to set up manually now in test and than in Prod so everytning is on right track?
