You could use Microsoft Office for Mac, but I would recommend iWork! It's a better set of applications for a much better price. I have used both and I prefer it over Office. And Pages can not only open Word documents, you can also save documents in Word format. My brother and I both used iWork as an Office substitute when we were in college (I graduated a few years ago and he just graduated last night) and haven't had any compatibility issues. Check it out here http://www.apple.com/iwork/

  • Which application should I use?? Any help would be great!!

I'm rather new to web-design, and I need some general guidance.  I am looking at taking on a rather ambitious project for my company.  I need to create a website that can do all of the following:
Host online classes.  These would be some sort of flash-based class, I'm guessing.  They would have video, audio, slides and tests.
Client logins.  Clients need to be able to see their accounts, and a list of past classes that they have taken.
Class Calendar.  I need create an interactive calendar where someone can chose which class they would like to attend, and register for it.  Needs to be searchable.
Shopping Cart.  People need to be able to register / pay for classes and materials.
News / FAQ / Comments sections.  The website needs to be able to have revolving content.  A way where I can put a bunch of News / Customer feedback comments into a database, and the website will refresh with content from this database.  Also need a general FAQ section.
Employee Logins.  Employees need to be able to login to the website and pull up a list of who is registered for a class, whether or not they are paid, and whether or not their materials have been sent.  Employees also need to be able to upload documents to managers.  Managers also need to be able to assign To Dos to employees.
Contact Database. I need the website to host an online contact database for our company.
It would be spectacular if our website could also host some sort of online accounting database.  Most of our people work from remote locations, so it would be immensly helpful if our accounts manager could keep an online register, which the owners could view whenever they wish.
I know this is a pretty involved list - and I'm not looking for someone to walk me through each step of putting it together - just someone to point me in the right direction!  Like I said, I'm fairly new to web-design and I have no idea which programs I should even be looking into.  I don't know if Dreamweaver can accomplish most / all of these things, or if I should looking moreso at Flash Builder or the eLearning suite.... or a combination of the those three.  Any help would be greatly appreciated!!!

    WOW
That really is a long list.
There is nothing out there with a one stop solution for all of that, there really just isn't. It pretty much needs to be paid for, get a professional to do it. Or should I say, professionals
There are a lot of skills involved, I doubt one person could do all of that well.
If you REALLY want to go for this on your own then split each problem up and post it in the relevant forum. I.E, the flash bit...post it on a flash forum, mention the calendar on another etc.
No one will help you with that list on here.

  • Which application should I use to open .sit files?

I'm trying to open a .sit file but a window pops saying that there's no application with which to open it.
    Help please,
    Thanks

Are you trying to install from the original CDs, or a copy someone gave to you?
I have only CS1, but I would think Adobe CS2 should have an installer application not dependent on Stuffit since it doesn't mention anything about that in the support doc.

  • Unique Audio Challenge - Which Application Should I Use?

I have audio that was transferred into MP3 format. But there's a big problem.
There are two separate channels on each MP3 stereo channel. The left channel is one recording, the right channel is another.
I need to separate them into individual MP3s.
And the right channel on each recording is backwards.
    So...
I need to be able to separate the stereo tracks into two separate MP3s, and reverse the direction of the right channel on each recording. For about a hundred recordings.
I have Adobe CC, and I keep most of the video-related programs on my desktop, but I'm willing to download any of the applications to make this easier. What is the easiest way to do this? If it were a single recording, that wouldn't be much of a problem, but since I'm dealing with a hundred or so, I need the most efficient way to do this.
    Thanks!

This is a relatively easy task with Adobe Audition CC.
Relatively, meaning that Audition has a bit of a learning curve. I would like to help you but I am working on someone else's dime now.
However, I am betting that if you loosely describe what you want to accomplish, you will probably find a YouTube video tutorial.
Search for "audio track split Audition" or something like that.

  • Which application should I use?

The search function for this forum returns an error message
(I've reported it), so excuse me if the answer would have been easy
    to find.
I'm writing a book on living cheap. I want to make it
available for donations. (I figure that the people who need it the
most might not have much disposable income to spend on something
    they haven't seen yet.)
I would, however, like to keep track of who downloads it. A
method where you register and then receive an email message with a
link that you click to confirm your registration and then go to the
page where you can download the pdf would be ideal.
I would also like to be able to email people who download the
book when a new version comes out. Or maybe just those who have
made a contribution. Don't know yet.
I found PayPal eCommerce Toolkit for Paypal, but have not
    used it.
Any suggestions on what program(s) or method(s) to use? My
website experience so far has been limited to CSS in Dreamweaver
    and modifying Flash files.
    Thank you,
    Denny

This is pretty simple but you would need to write a server
side script. The script would simply email the requester to their
entered email address and include the link. They would be able to
then forward the email to others, so if you want to prevent that it
would take a little more scripting. Just search this forum for
'form mail' (use the advanced search as the standard is broke) or
    search the google group.

  • What application should I use to take screenshots?

Our company has purchased the Adobe Creative Suite 5.5 Master Collection and Technical Communication Suite 3.5 licenses. Which application should I use to take screenshots (like TechSmith SnagIt does)?

I find my Passport for Mac in the Devices section.  If I click on it then I get the option to click again on "backups" and so on till I get to where I double click on the preview.  I click preview which should then open up what is actually on the Passport. What comes up is little side bar with various info and one of the options is to open the Passport but I have to tell it what application to use to open all the documents.  The space below the "open with" option is blank and I have no idea what to put there so I can preview the documents on the Passport.
I had used the Time Machine originally for backing up but was told to turn it off cause it was just backing up everything and I only wanted files and photos.  There was no way to customize the back up so WD told me to turn off time machine and just drag and drop files/etc to the Passport icon.

  • Creating a web page in Fireworks CS3

When I create a web page in Fireworks CS3 and export it the

Look at NVu which is free and does a very decent job. I tried
    it when it
was only in beta and it was promising although it couldn't
    get me to
switch from Dreamweaver. I haven't used the final version but
    I'm
certain it will give you better results than using Fireworks'
    rigid and
easily breakable exported HTML and certainly a lot better
    than FrontPage.

    straight from Fireworks it

This is because, despite its flaws (and they are severe),
    Fireworks'
exported code is less proprietary and more cross browser
    compatible than
FrontPage's. I believed that later versions of FrontPage
    created better
code but your story proves once again that no visual Web
    "design"
application that falsely promise WYSIWYG is a substitute for
    learning
the basics of Web design and development and getting your
    hands dirty in
HTML and CSS code to understand how things work. Web design
    is certainly
not only about the visuals and any designer who thinks he can
    get away
with only creating Web sites visually without the need for a
    working
knowledge of the underlying code is seriously delusional (not
    saying
    this is your case).
I do not mean you need to create your sites' code in NotePad
    (which is
completely inefficient IMO). But you do need to understand
    how things
work under the hood to make the right decisions in your
    editor and be
able to fix problems. WYSIWYG is a pipe dream. Don't buy into
    it.
Until you can afford something like Dreamweaver, NVu could
    serve your
needs as it offers a source code view and apparently creates
    decent code
out of the box. Learning to code HTML and CSS in a more text
    based
application may be better for you in the long run if you are
    serious
about learning this craft properly though. I'm sorry that I
    cannot point
you to specific learning resources as it's been years since I
    was a
beginner in this field and learned from too many sources. If
    there is
one book I could recommend that I wish had been around when I
    started
out in early 1996, it would be Zeldman's "Designing with Web
    Standards".
This could be one of the smartest investment you make right
    now:

  • Creating graphs web page

    Hi,
I am trying out this Jdeveloper.
I am trying to create a web page that show graphs (values are from a table) as well as some table's data.
Can JDeveloper create such web page ? and what type of project should it be created under ? ADF , Jave EE Web Application ?
    appreciate your advise
    tks & rgds

    Hi,
I assume you are using version of JDeveloper 11g. The simpliest way how to make graphs is to create ADF Fusion application. Then you can decide whether you will use ADF BC as a model (or EJB/JPA). In the view project you can create graph very simply
    just drag & drop way.
you can learn more here: http://www.oracle.com/technology/obe/obe11jdev/11/dvt/gant_chart_pivot_table.htm

  • Why does Firefox no longer display .php suffix web pages which are in my Mac?

I have a question about Firefox 14.0.1 displaying .php suffix web page files which are in a Mac running Mountain Lion OS 10.8. In eaarlier versions of Mac OS, for example 10.4.7, I was able to see properly displayed web page files with .html and .php suffixes when those web page files were in my computer. I refer to seeing the page as it should properly display, not seeing the source code. If a page had a .php suffix, the browser displayed the page properly although any php scripts embedded in that page were ignored.
Apple occasionallly updated its OS and browser makers occasionally updated browsers. One day, I noticed that Safari no longer displayed web page files in my Mac if those pages had a .php suffix. However, Firefox and other browsers continued to display web page files with .php suffixes although the embedded php scripts were ignored.
Now, I have Mountain Lion in iMac.
I can no longer see .php suffix web page files in my computer regarless of the browser I use. No browser displays those pages.
A .php suffix web page file which Firefox and other browsers display in 10.4.7 does not display in 10.8 if that web page file is in the computer.
In my computer, I have html and php suffix web page files I want to see using a browser. The files I want to see and the browser both are in my computer. Html files display perfectly with one exception: if php scripts are embedded in the html files, the scripts are ignored. A file the name of which ends with ".php" will not be displayed regardless of whether there is a php script in the file. Safari displays the source code only. Chrome does not display the file at all. Firefox and SeaMonkey, which displayed .php suffix web page files in earlier versions of the Mac OSm now respond to such pages by providing a dialog box which seems to assume that the file is about to be downloaded from the Internet. The dialog box asks me if I want to use the browser to open the file or if I want to save it to disk. The file is on the disk at the time, and the computer is disconnected from the Internet. I click that I want to use the browser to open the file. Then the dialong box reopens with the same question. This happens over and over. I never get to see a web page file in my computer the name of which ends with ".php". With Firefox 14.0.1, I can see .php suffix web pages which are on the Internet or in a 10.4.7 Mac but not in a 10.8 Mac. Did I miconfigure Firefox? It seems unlikely that Firefox lost the ability to display pages in Mac OS 10.8 which it displays in `10.4.7. How can I solve this web page display problem?

Haroon mentions two solutions. I used the easier one, which is to start the Apache webserver already in Mountain Lion and to enable the php already in Mountain Lion. It worked. I see the file correctly displayed with html, css, and php. I see the page by using Firefox. I enter an address in the address bar. For example, the address might be "localhost/example/example.php". I cannot see the page by using Firefox's "Open File ..." menu option or by dragging the file's icon onto Firefox's icon. I tried using your solution also but was unable to find the specific preference to modify. I found the page of preferences which may be modified but I could not find the one I need. I found a list of descriptions of the preferences at http://kb.mozillazine.org/Firefox_:_FAQs_:_About:config_Entries
but I could not find the specific preference which I need.
By the way, to enable loading the php module, one uncomments a line of code by deleting the initial "#" character, and one does that by pressing control key and "P" key while the cursor is over the "#" character.
Also by the way, when I use Firefox or Safari to look at the Apache web directory in which my files are, the files are listed case sensitively. For example, the files are listed: Ace, Zygote, bar. This is because lower case follows upper case. THis annoys me. I prefer case insensitive listing. When I llok directly athe directory without using a browser, the files are listed case insensitively. For example, they are listed: Ace, bar, Zygote. I guess taht Apache is doing this.

  • Is it possible to create a web page to launch Reflection for UNIX and Digital program using Dreamweaver CS6?

I am planning to create a web page that could launch Reflection for UNIX and Digital program as part of my project in my working area.
    Is this possible?
I am a beginner in using DW. I am still studying how to properly use Dreamweaver thinking that I could provide the requirement of my project.
    Thank you for your comments.

This is a question for Attachmate, the maker of Reflection, not Adobe, the maker of Dreamweaver.
Dreamweaver is a tool, not a technology. It builds applications using HTML and Javascript that run on web servers using the HTTP protocol. So I think the question to as Attachmate is:
Can Reflection be launched from an apache webserver using HTML, PHP or Javascript?
