To create new user for rpd with Admin access in obiee 10g

Hi All,
I need to create a user in RPD which has equivalent privileges as Administrator in RPD.Please note that this is for accessing RPD Admin not for Dashboard admin access.Can anyone please let me know of how we shall implement this?..

Hi,
Create a user and give the check box for 'Administrators' group and check.
If required give 'Presentation Service Administrator'group too.
In Settings->Manage Privileges you can restrict the user to the Answers.

I now only have 2 users on my OBIEE, demo1, demo2.. Now I'd like to create a new user call A and make this new user able to log on to OBIEE presenation service..
So I went to the RPD admin tool and created new user there and gave password. It was done online mode and I checked out..
I am able to login to admin tool with the new user account, but when I go to presentation service, I am not able to see this new user nor would I be able to log on using the new user account..
So how does this work? If I wanted to create a new user and let it access dashboard, I'd I do it

Hi.
actually there is no option available in presentation service to create user. There you can just delete user and create and delete the groups.
Anyhow, you said you have created a user in rpd.
To see this user in answers, you must login into answers with this user once.
are you able to login with the newly created user?
(As you said you done the creation of user in online mode, this may not effect to the answers)
if not, just login with administrator into answers, click on reload server metadata, then log off from there.
Now, try to login with the new user. You may able to login.
OR
just restart your BI Server services.

Creating New Users for RDBMS realm

I am currently creating new users in the RDBMS realm
by an EJB that will insert into the "Users" table. Is this
the correct way to create users or should I be calling
methods on classes in examples.security.RDBMSRealm?

I can able to create multiple users using Import option of the user administration but i have one more question regarding the same.
What about the password setting of these newly created users. Or can the set the password field in test file?? Because when we export the user, it is not showing any Password field.

A user at EIS level is actually a user set up on the relational catalog where your olap models/metaoutlines are stored. For instance if you got to the OLAP model properties dialog and the General tab you can see the owner here is the user you use to connect to your catalog. Creating new Attributes for use with AttributedStrings

I trying to find a way to change the color of key strings in a phrase so that they stand out. For example.
the String (The water is HOT). I want the word HOT to be the color RED.
I have noticed in using the TextAttributes option on the AttributedString doesn't have an option to change a color for a particular word in a String only a way to swap the foreground and background colors. In general is there a way to add new attributes for doing the above example?
Just a note. This modification is not being done in an editor pane or text field. I'm looking for a way to do this without user interaction.

If you are not drawing this in an JEditorPane, but just with DrawText, you will have to split the text up your self, draw the first half, then switch colors, then draw the second half.

HT2518 I've migrated from PC to IMAC, but it has created new users. I can't access these user accounts even though I've set up passwords for them as administrator. Can you assist?

I have transferred files from PC to IMac using Migration assistant. This has automatically set-up new users on the IMac and I can't access these. As administrator, I have set-up passwords for these new users, but when i try to acces these new users usung those passwords, the screen shakes as if the passwords are incorrect. Any suggestions?

There have been a few similar posts here. Are you trying to log on to the new user account(s) via Fast User Switching? If so, apparently that doesn't work. You need to turn that off (via System Preferences > Users & Groups > Login Options. Remove the check from the Show fast user switching .... box.
Then log out of all accounts, restart, select the new account from the login screen and you should be prompted to set the password.
I'm not sure a screenshot will help (and to be honest I'm not sure how to do screenshots on the IMac - I've been a PC man for over a decade!).
In most places, Shift+Cmd+3 will print the entire screen; Shift+Cmd+4 will produce a "target" you can drag over a portion of the screen.
EDIT: by "most places" I mean after you're logged-on, and OSX knows your preferences about how & where to put the screenshot. So it won't work on the login screen itself.

Create new user for a LifeDrive

My wife recently gave me her LifeDrive as she upgraded to a Centrino.I am looking for a way to take her user name off of the life Drive and put mine on so that I can sync it with the desktop from my old hanspring visor so that I can get all of the info that was on the visor onto the Life Drive.
Does any one know of a way to do this?

I believe you'll have to use the "Export/Import" method in Palm Desktop.
Export the information to a file, then import it into the Palm Desktop for the Visor. For example, open Date Book, then go to File/Export and save the info as a file. You can later import this into another username in Palm Desktop.
Since the Visor is quite old now, the version of your Palm Desktop may need to be upgraded...

I need to develop a Create New User Process in BPM11g.
Managers can start this process and create new users for new employee so that the new employee can log in the workspace and start to work.
How can I achieve this in 11g?
I find this perhaps involves weblogic authentication and user role API.
Is anyone familiar with these?

Hello,
I guess you have chosen the file system option. If so you need can drag the jazn-data.xml from your CDB ORACLE_HOME in a JDeveloper project. After right-clicking on this imported file you can select the properties. Now you are in a wizard to create users and groups/roles. After modifying your file you can replace it on the server. To find the right location of the jazn-data.xml you can go to the EM Site http://<host>:<port>/em/console/ias/oc4j/sec/secProvs to look for the security provider of the "content" application. Edit the provider and you will see the location of the jazn-data.xml.

They have gone now and I am attempting to either change the password or delete the user. It won't allow me to choose the user I created. I am logged in as myself and it states that I am an "Admin". The user I'm attempting to change is listed as a "standard" user and there is a white checkmark inside an orange circular background on the user pic in the list of users.
Can someone help me? I am having a hard time believing that OSx will allow me to create users and allow them use of my computer and it's drives, yet it will not allow me to change the password so I can monitor what they might have been doing while logged on? What if this were my child? This guest left under sketchy circumstances, and I'd really like to be able to ensure they were not using my computer to do illegal things or to have illegal communications.
Any help would be appreciated. (It's odd that it was so simple to "create" a user and set a password for them.......but it's complicated or a little known process to reverse.

Here are two screen shots to show you what I am seeing. The first screen shot shows it allowing me to select (highlighted in blue) my admin user (which is what I am locced in as). The second screen shot shows it allowing me to select the "Guest" user (highlighted in blue). However when I click on the user "Orion" nothing happens. It will not change to highlight that user.

In our Golden Gate Project, we require the SYS user credential to connect to the Oracle 10g ASM instance to read the database transaction logs.But our client is not providing the SYS user credential to connnect to ASM instance.
I'm getting the error message "ORA-01109: database not open",When I tried to create a new user using the below the steps in oracle 10g ASM instance
1. Login using "sqlplus / as sysdba"
2. Create user <username> identified by <password>;
But in oracle 11g ASM instance, I'm able to create new user by connecting the ASM instance with SYSASM role without issues.
Is there is any workaround to create a new user with sysdba system privilege in oracle 10g ASM instance?.

Recreate the password file for the ASM instance as follows:
Unix:
orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/dbs/PWD<SID> password=<sys_password>
Windows:
orapwd file=<ORACLE_HOME>/database/PWD<SID>.ora password=<sys_password>
Now sys password is reset, we are ready to use sys for ASM management. I decided to create another user ASMDBA as I tried above.
SQL> create user ASMDBA identified by test01;
User created.
SQL> grant SYSASM, SYSOPER to ASMDBA;
Grant succeeded.
SQL> select * from v$pwfile_users;
USERNAME SYSDBA SYSOPE SYSASM
SYS TRUE TRUE TRUE
ASMDBA FALSE TRUE TRUE

Create new user with specific UID

I have posted this question in the 10.4 group but I need to do it on Leopard, too.
Creating a new user from the Accounts GUI creates users with UID's 502 onwards. How do I create a user from scratch with a specific UID, e.g. 1234?
I know that modifying user 502 won't work because trash files etc. are set up with 502 in their path names.
Any help, links to help etc. appreciated.

In Leopard, UIDs can be changed just as Baltwo described. I do not know if this will also change the UID of files in the user's HOME folder, but you can do that yourself. In fact, it would be a good idea to do so, manually, in any case.
Go ahead and change the UID for the user as described. This should be done from a different, admin account. Then, open /Applications/Utilities/Terminal. Type the following, followed by a <RETURN>:
<pre style="overflow:auto; font-family: 'Monaco'; font-size: 10px">sudo chown -R username /Users/username</pre>
In the above text, you will replace all instances of "username" with the short name for the user in question. If the short name is "fred," for example, you would type the following exactly:
<pre style="overflow:auto; font-family: 'Monaco'; font-size: 10px">sudo chown -R fred /Users/fred</pre>
When you press <RETURN>, you will be asked for your admin password. Enter it (it will not be echoed) and again press <RETURN>.

Hi..my problem slightly similar.
I created one new user, and didn't select anything from "Public Groups Assignment" and "Privilege Assignment" for him.
I expect the user will be a public user.
But, when he try to logged in the portal,
He cannot see all the PORTLETS related to database values..
All he can see just LINKS -that all in my portal right now beside the report from database that the user cannot see :)
So, what did i do wrong?
