    Hello:
How can I customize my status bar to change the color?
    Thanks

On which phone model? Either way, modifying the notification bar text color usually isn't something you can do with a standard stock phone.

  • Is there an app that hides the status bar?  Or permits customization of it?

I'd like to hide the time in the status bar, or replace it with other information.
Reason: I don't like being reminded what time it is when using a PDA type device, especially not in the middle of the night if I'm reading on it.
Is there an app that hides the bar universally, or lets one replace the time, with say the date or other text?

Are you sure about that? Several highly regarded, widely downloaded apps, e.g., eReader, have an option to hide the status bar. The developer forums are awash in discussions about the commands to hide the status bar-- it's built in to the SDK.
I figure someone will have put out a small program that does nothing but hide the status bar or allow its tweaking... much like StatusBar does on the Palm OS 5 PDAs...

Don't assume people automatically know all your technical terms! Before you talk about, e.g., "status bar", it would be really helpful to show or tell us WHERE IT IS.
Since you made basic things like "history" and "bookmarks" harder to find, I'm back to using "CTRL H" for history -- is there a keystroke method to get to the bookmarks?

  • Customizing the Home Screen Status Bar

I know right now that the ability to customize the home screen is more or less limited to the arrangement of the icons, right?
What I want is the ability to place a 'new mail' or 'new sms' icon at the top of the home screen, along the status bar where the time and signal strength are currently displayed.
That way I can see at a glance if I have new messages, even when the phone is locked, by hitting the unlock button at the top of the phone.
Luckily the SMS preview gives me that status, but I still need to manually unlock the phone with the passcode before I can see if I have any new email. I don't use an audible alert for incoming email.
I'd also prefer the option to have new sms messages neither display a preview nor even display a name on the home screen.
In short, I want more control over the behavior and display of the home screen. I've seen some rumblings that the Apple SDK disallows interaction with the home screen. If so, iPhone users are completely at the whim of Apple to include new home screen functionality.
I'm not happy with that arrangement.
Coming from the Windows Mobile word, I'm finding Apple to be a very closed system. I knew ahead of time that there would be some diminished flexibility, but I didn't expect this much of a drop.

Apparently you do not have a question, but it seems that you have some feedback for Apple. As this is a users forum, populated by iphone users -not Apple, perhaps you need the address for feedback that Apple does receive:

  • How do I enable some scripts to run in some programs/websites and what happened to the status bar of my Mozilla Firefox 4?

Well, first of all, I was tying to create a web-based computer game in Notepad in H.T.M.L., C++, and JavaScript codes. But when I tried to open the completed product, Firefox only came up with a blank page. What do I do with this? And also, I unwittingly removed the "Status Bar" on the bottom side of my browser(the one that always says "Transferring data from/to..."), and when I tried to bring it back up, I couldn't because I don't know how, since I'm new to Mozilla Firefox 4. If you could help me with these problems, Then I would greatly appreciate it.

You can install the Status-4-Evar extension to regain some functionality from previous Firefox versions that was lost with the removal of the Status bar.
Open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout" after you have installed the Status-4-Evar extension and drag the items (Status Text, Progress Meter, Download Status) upon the Add-ons Bar (View > Toolbars > [X] Add-on Bar)<br />
Also check the Options of Status-4-Evar in Firefox (or Tools) > Add-ons

The Status Bar was removed in an earlier version of Firefox and replaced with the Add-on Bar.

  • I had an addon that displayed RSS ticker in status bar. Now status bar is gone, how to I get an rss ticker?

I had an addon that used the status bar to display information (RSS ticker). Now I upgraded firefox, status bar is gone and my addon doesn't work. I installed the status-4-ever addon that was recommended in one of the firefox pages but it doesn't work with the RSS addon. How do I get a scrolling RSS ticker in my window?

    Hello,
Sometimes toolbars are missing because they are hidden, you just need to bring them back up. Visit this article to learn how to bring them back: [[Customize Firefox controls, buttons and toolbars]]. You can learn tips and tricks at the same time. Try putting it on your bookmarks toolbar if you are finding you are running out of space.
You can also get an add-on to restore the Add-on bar:
*Use the [https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/the-addon-bar/ Add-on Bar Restored] to bring back the add-on bar. Learn more here: [[What happened to the Add-on Bar?]]

  • I don't have a status bar!

Somehow Oryte! and Bing got to be my browser and I didn't want that, so I asked Firefox how to get rid of it. Whatever it said to do, I did -- but I lost the Firefox status bar. I just have blank tabs without any place to enter URLs or search, without using my bookmarked Google home page. And there is no "previous/next page arrows", so I can't go back a page -- I have to close the tab, go to Google and start over! I've downloaded Firefox 5.0 setup -- but I'm so not-technical that I don't know whether I must get rid of Firefox 4.0 setup first (how?) before opening or running 5.0 (which do I choose?). JUST HELP ME CLEAR THIS MESS AND INSTALL A WORKING 5.0, PLEASE!

If the menu bar is hidden then press the F10 key or hold down the Alt key, that should make the menu bar appear.
Make sure that toolbars like the "Navigation Toolbar" and the "Bookmarks Toolbar" are visible: "View > Toolbars"
    * If items are missing then open the Customize window via "View > Toolbars > Customize" or via "Firefox > Options > Toolbar Layout"
    * If a missing item is in the toolbar palette then drag it back from the Customize window on the toolbar
    * If you do not see an item on a toolbar and in the toolbar palette then click the "Restore Default Set" button to restore the default toolbar set up.

but i cant find where i enable that optionThe quota status bar does not need to be "enabled". If you are running a recent Convergence patch it will show by default.
What version of Convergence are you running (./iwcadmin -V)?

I did't find any class for that purpose in Swing
    like say CStatusBar in MFC.

Do you mean the add-ons bar at the bottom of the Firefox windows?
It was removed during the last update. In some cases leaving lots
    of icons homeless.
    Go to the '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/ Mozilla Add-ons Web Page]''''' {web link}
(There’s a lot of good stuff here) and search for an add-on bar.
    Many of us are using
    '''''[https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/classicthemerestorer/ Classic Theme Restorer (Customize Australis)]''''' {web link}
Restore squared tabs, appmenu, add-ons bar, small button view and more on Australis UI (Windows/MacOSX/Linux + Fx 29+).
This will restore many of the things the last upgrade took away.

  • Status bar still around?

this may seem like a stupid question, but is there no longer a status bar w mail 2?
sure is helpful when mousing over links instead of waiting for the alt text to show up.
    thanks...

    blst.,
Not exactly sure what you mean by status bar, but if you are referring to the "Toolbar," make sure that you click the small silver oval in the upper right hand corner of the Mail window.
    Additionally, check Mail>View>Customize Toolbar...>Show [Icon & Text]

  • Status bar & MDI Child

    Hi again,
Now, I am interested in creating a status bar at the bottom of my vi and I want to put the date and time in it or other messages that my application generates. How can I do it?
and.... How can I do and a MDI child application like in visual basic?
    Finally,
Is it possible in time execution to show the front panel of my vi without embeding it in a window? LabVIEW always embeds the vi in a window, I would like to not embed it in a window.
    Thanks,
    ToNi.

I'll start with the easy ones -
The easy way to put a status bar in your app is probably to devote that area for one, or several, controls which will display what you want. You can decorate that area and customize the controls to have the look you want. If you want it to hover above, I think your best chance is a subVI constantly open in that area.
Which brings me to the next question - "LV embeds the VI in a window" - I presume you mean the menu bar (the area where the run button and the VI icon are). If so, right click the icon, select VI Properties and go to Window Appearence. Here you customize these options.
Last one - MDI. If I understand correctly, this is Multiple Document Interface, meaning that you have several child windows sharing the same menus, etc. Like when you open Word and have several documents in the same space or Photoshop and have several pictures in the same space using the same tools. I don't know how this works in VB (how does it work in VB, by the way?), but I don't think this can be done just as easily in LV, since LV is multiplatform and VB (I believe) is windows specific and uses windows options inherently to do this (just a guess, LV also has some windows specific features). Anyway, you can have a seperate VI as your common area and simulate this using subpanels (can be found in the Containers palette, next to the tab control) or using regular subVIs, but you'll probably have to sync all of them somehow. Hope this helps. Maybe I'm wrong and someone will have a better idea.
Try to take over the world!
