To-Do's linked with Mail or iCal

I understand the current iPhone software syncs the calendar component of iCal but not the To-Do's. I am wondering if anyone has heard if the revisions to Mail or iCal in the new OS X (Leopard) will bring this functionality into the iPhone?

Mail and iCal no longer syncing To Dos

I have been an avid user of the 'To Do' functionality in Mail and iCal for several years now. For some reason, they have recently stopped working together. I can create new 'To Dos' in Mail, but they do not show up in iCal. Similarly, I can edit 'To Dos' that were previously created in Mail (and still visible in iCal), but the changes do not propagate. I can, however, manually add new To Dos in iCal just fine.
I am saving all my 'To Dos' to the 'On My Mac' account, and they show up fine in Mail. I have tried changing the calendar the events are associated with to no effect. Indeed, I have even created new calendars to add 'To Dos' to in case that worked, but it has not. If I ask Mail to reveal in iCal, it shows iCal alright, but not the new To Do. Similarly, if I ask iCal to 'Show in Mail' of an old event, it will pull up Mail, but not the right event.
Any idea what might have broken the link between Mail and iCal? This has been going on for a while, not sure if before or after the upgrade to 10.5.7, unfortunately. Also, I ran 'Busy Mac' for a while, but turned it off several months ago once Google sported proper CalDAV integration, and things were working fine.

Problem: Mail and iCal dates all appear the same

Hi,
I'm trying to solve a problem with Mail and iCal on a 13" MacBook [latest "unibody" plastic model] of a friend. The MacBook is running Snow Leopard and is up to date.
The problem is that all the dates of sent and received E-mail messages appear the same. They are all set to the 14th of august. I've tried to recompile Mail's database and also extracted all the Mbox files and then imported them again as if they came from another machine. Nevertheless all the dates stay the same. All new incoming mail is also set to this specific date and time.
The problem appears to have propagated to iCal as well. I can't yet tell if it's the same timestamp as in Mail because I haven't been able to check the machine since I've only tried to solve the issue when it was still only in Mail.
The only solution I haven't tried yet is to make a full Time Machine backup, reïnstall Snow Leopard, and then recover from the Time Machine backup. This might help but maybe someone here knows a quicker way!
If anyone has a suggestion or maybe even a solution it would be truly appreciated!

Today I received a message from another friend who is experiencing the exact same problem. The dates of some existing mails and every new mail that is sent or received is set to 10 October 2010. This time it concerns a brand new 15" Core i5 MacBook Pro, also with an up to date version of Snow Leopard.
IMPORTANT:
Concerning the software: in both cases I transferred E-mail from an old Windows machine to Mail using Outlook2Mail from LittleMachines. I now believe that this has something to do with the problem experienced on both laptops.

Your answer also taught me to be a little more persistent, as I had started looking at Preferences, and just didn't notice the icons (including Applications) at the top of that window that would have led me to my answer.

Not impressed with Mail/iCal in Leopard

Just upgraded to Leopard, so far the few new changes are outweighed by the problems and shortcomings.
First, my signatures are messed up, in particular the logos used. Help file provides little if any help in setting up logos in sigs.
In iCal, when a note was attached to an event, I could view the note immediately in the sidebar.
Now in Leopard, one must double click the event to show notes...not impressed.
I think these are excellent applications, but have a long way to go before becoming really useful.

Relying on mail applications for logos in signatures is not a good idea. Support for inlined images by mail client is so disparate in standards by each client, some people may see the logo, others will not. Furthermore, attachments received are frequently blocked by those fearing viruses. Regardless of Mail's supported features, I would not get annoyed at the logo support changing as it is non-standard to begin with, and will always be as long as viruses masquerade into spam people receive.

Mail and iCal are constantly synicing with OS X Mavericks

Ever since I downloaded OS X Mavericks, Mail and iCal are constantly syncing messages and appointments as long as the programs are open. I'm receiving notices about appointments that are years old. What's more, it doesn't seem to stop when I close the laptop, so it drains my battery as well. How do I make it stop??

No problem with Calendar but Mail keeps syncing with the server. The activity window is full all the time - apparently re-syncing though no new mail is downloaded. Rang in but they have no idea what's causing it and have sent diagnostic to engineers. In 10.8, just a quick burst of activity when mail was checked for but now it's constant. As a result, emptying the Deleted Items mailbox is very slow. Am worried about the amount of bandwidth being eaten up.

Mail now opens links with Internet Explorer

Today, clicking on a link in Mail opens the address with Internet Explorer. Before, it was Safari. I have no idea how or why this got changed! How do I get the old (Safari) behavior back??

you have Internet Explorer in Leopard? I thought it was no longer supported.
you can set the default browser to safari in safari preferences->general. that should do it.

Lord K. Thank you. Yes I am within the 90 time period, however I travel Intertionally and I can not receive not make a call to Apple. I was just at the Genius Bar in Chicago and they said, don't worry about it. It just floats out there, however, I can not recover my messages on a flash drive. I need to go back to my old computer which I don't have with me. My messages were in folders for a lawsuit. It is going to take an incredible amount of work for me to, you have no Idea. We are talking thousands of pages! I the defendent will have them during discovery so I am not so worried. However, I can not bring them to him on a Flashdrive when I meet with him without an extraordinary amount of presssure on my part. THis is not just some little email issue. ICal To-Do list does not sync properly with Mail To-Do list

For some reason, my iCal To-Do List does not sync properly with my Mail To-Do list. Any thoughts on how to get them to sync properly? I always have more To-Dos on my Mail list than my iCal list, which probably means that when I complete a To-Do in iCal, it doesn't register with Mail.
Any thoughts?

ensure that your mail set up is checked for syncing note; your comment on the todo list is valid and i have been asking the same question for a while. ToDo also syncs on blackberry? I guess it shows that third party software is the kick that come corp's need to pick up their act.

Close the Mail app in the Task Bar and re-launch.
Double-click the Home button to reveal Task Bar. Hold Mail app down for a second or two; tap the minus sign to close app.
If it still doesn't work, try a reset.
Hold the Sleep and Home button down until you see the Apple logo.

Why isn't possible to copy mail into iCal?

Although I do not know how to copy the entire message, you can use the Mail Data Detectors to create an iCal appointment. "The URL data field for the new event shows a link back to the email message.
Mail automatically detects text fragments like addresses and appointments and lets you choose smart actions with a click to create an new address entry or iCal event."

I am so frustrated with mail. It keeps hanging and it's not synchronized across all my devices. Is there a better app?

Am I the only one having such a frustrating time with mail? I'm working along and suddenly if just stops responding. If I wait long enough, it will come back to life, but who wants to work through 100 emails, that way? Also, it is not always synchornized across my devices. I forward all my accounts to icloud.
