To Dos get created on server instead of on my Mac

I have my Mail setup with two accounts: IMAP with Gmail and Exchange with my school. I would like to use Mail's To Do feature, but I want the to dos created on my Mac in iCal instead of on the server. So, I went into preferences and changed the option where it store Notes and To Do's to "On My Mac." But it doesn't work... When I select text in an e-mail and hit "To Do", it creates the to do on the server. Any ideas? Thanks!

Thank you for the tip, but it sadly did not solve the problem.
I tried going into the preferences, changing to Gmail, closing out, quitting, going back in and changing it back to "On my Mac". I then selected a mail from my gmail account, highlighted some text, and clicked To Do. As soon as I did, I saw the mail activity box show that it was saving something to the server. I created the to do, and saved it and sure enough, it had created it on the Gmail server.

Mail and Exchange can be a bit iffy, but this is usually a problem with the Exchange server. Mail on the Mac uses a different method of communicating with the Exchange server (Exchange Web Services) than do iOS devices (which use ActiveSync), so your Exchange server may be having problems with EWS. I'd suggest you first discuss this with the support resources for your email provider before you spend a lot of time spinning your wheels trying to sort things out on your end.
As a quick test, you can try this Microsoft tool:

and see what it reports re. EWS connectivity to your server.

ICloud useable as server instead of buying new Mac for that purpose?

If I buy a new iPad Air will I be able to abandon my 4year old Sony laptop, and use the former's full access to iCloud as the server for my 2 older iPads (1 & 3 models)?
Such things as iTunes and iBooks come to mind.

In theory, you do not need a computer at all in order to use an iPad and yes you can use iCloud exclusively as a backup solution. What you cannot use iCloud for is an external storage area from which you can upload or download selective content. In other words, you cannot upload 3 photos to iCloud nd then download two of them back to the device. You cannot download any one backed file from iCloud either.
iCloud backups everything on your iPad that you purchase from the iStores and all of the data that is associated with those apps. iCloud will not store non iTunes purchased videos, synced photos from your computer, and content of that type.
You can use iCloud with the original iPad and the iPad 3. Those are the two iPads that I happen to own and I can use iCloud with both of them.

Stange Files getting Created

I have recently noticed that I am getting strange files that I am not sure were they are coming from. The files when opened using VI show the text of MUTX and that is all they say. They are names starting with 0x, followed by a rather long string of Hexidecimal numbers.Example (0x6c6d48142) The files are getting placed directly in my main hard. The files are 44bytes in size but many many of them are getting created daily. I have found little to no articles explaing what may be related to MUTX,except it may be related to some type of "leak", I do not understand what that means. Has anyone seen this or this type of thing before? Thank you for your help

Server Pool not getting created

I setup a Oracle VM server on a x64 machine and Oracle VM Manager on another.
Tried to create first Server Pool, by giving IP address of Oracle VM Server, everything went well, but

Select and Restore Edit Delete
Select     Server Pool Name Status     High Availability Status     Servers     Users     Logs
First-Pool     Error Disabled     Total: 1 Total: 1     View Logs
Clicking on View logs I get this
2011-07-15 20:11:25     Check prerequisites to create server pool (First-Pool) succeed
2011-07-15 20:13:01     Create server pool (First-Pool) starting.
basically ServerPool status is Error and view log not showing anything.
what can be going wrong here?

Have you reviewed your ovm server /etc/hosts yet?
It's documented somewhere: when installed, hostname is poingint to 127.0.0.1 instead of itself.
Modify it to get 127.0.0.1 as localhost, and assigned IP to your hostname .

Transfer file to different server after it get created in DB server

Hi All,
I have a unix shell script that runs in a Linux server and connects to database (using sqlplus of course) and creates a file using UTl_FILE package and which gets created in DB server. We are not actually supposed to create file in DB server as per company rules and regulations. But as a workaround until we find a solution, we are being allowed to create file in DB server then my DBA scp the file to the Linux server. This manual process of transferring the file has to be automated or if possible, it would be best if we can create the file in the target Linux server itself instead of DB server.
Is there any way of doing so or if this issue has been addressed in past, please provide me with the link. I tried to search in forum but couldn't fine one appropriate solution.

I am trying to find a work around. Instead of file creation, I am going for a PL/SQL process that will directly load into the target table.
I will try to explain my problem as much as possible.
Lets say I have a table A. It's a hierarchy table. X is the parent column while Y is the child one. '1' is the TOPmost in the hierarchy so, value in X corresponding to '1' is NULL.

Here, each row (value in Y) in table A is processed and are put in correct Level. For example 1 has Level 1 So, it is under L1 and then rest of the columns are filled with 1. 2 has level 2, so it is put under L2 and the it parent is 1 so, 1 in L1 - obvious, then rest of the column filled with 2. Likewise 14 has level 4 so put under L4, then the hierarchy values upward are found and put under respective columns; L5 is entered 14. Basically the hierarchy up is calculated for each value in Y is calculated and put under respective level column in table B and then the rest of the columns are just filled with the column Y value that was processed.

Define Objects in Backend System (Purch. Reqs, Reservations, Purch. Orders).
PO is created if you set the "*" for EITHER the purchasing group OR the product category.
SRM is creating PR or PO depending on:
- SRM customizing (ex: always external proc + PR if incomplete, PO if complete)
- the interpretation of SC data by R/3.
IF your SC is considered complete by SRM (but with a fixed vendor and not a preferred vendor) the system will check if it can create a PO in R/3.
For this, each item will request a META_INTERPRETE_DATA to R/3, asking if it can create a PO. If R/3 considers this data as incomplete, it will reply to create a PR.
Usual cases of R/3 PR creation instead of PO:
- prefered vendor in SRM (and not a fixed one)
- custom checks in user exits in R/3
- error messages in R/3 (ex: O6 334 In the case of a fixed vendor, please enter info record)
To debug without debuging into R/3, you can also try the following:
- use BADI DETERMINE_TARGET_OBJECT and force PO creation
- so the system will always try to create a PO
- R/3 won't create the PO (for the same reason as in META_INTERPRETE_DATA), and will raise an error in SRM
- finally you get the real error in application monitor (SC --> backend application errors

File not getting created in a different server

My requirement.
I have written a code in the BI system and now need to write an empty file (say a.done)in a directory /interfaces of PI system.
I wrote using open data set and close data set however the file (a.done) is not getting created in the PI system even though the directory /interfaces exist.
When I give any directory of that of BI system ,the file(a.done) is getting created i.e the file is getting created on the same server and not on the different server.
Is there any function module or any other way for the file to get generated in the PI system.
Please explain with an example.

Empty files are getting created at receiver FTP server

Hi Experts,
I have an Idoc to File scenario where I am sending an XML file to receiver FTP server.
Scenario is working fine but sometimes an empty file is getting generated at receiver FTP server.
I have already selected ignore empty file at receiver channel so issue is not within PI system configuration.
When I checked the message log I can see that almost all the files are getting created successfully without any issues, but
for some files/messages I can see that there are below error logs.
"Transmitting the message to endpoint <local> using connection IDoc_AAE_http://sap.com/xi/XI/System failed, due to: com.sap.engine.interfaces.messaging.api.exception.MessagingException: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections"
"Exception caught by adapter framework: Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections."
And after there is again success message log in the same message and it creating a file successfully during that time stamp.
but the third party is sometime receiving empty file which I am not able to find in any trace or log (my file name is SD_timestamp.xml).
Can you please let me know what is the solution and what adjustments FTP server need to do in order to resolve this issue.

The error you are getting that says "Could not get FTP connection from connection pool (1 connections) within 5,000 milliseconds; increase the number of available connections" has probably nothing to do with the empty files problem.
I second Hareesh Gampa that you first should try "temporary file creation". You might also need to tell the FTP owner that he should only pick up files with that are written completely and that do comply with a negotiated file name schema. The temp file should have another schema of course then. He should not pick up just every file that is written. See here for details

How can I force TestStand to create multiple instance of an activex server instead of share the same reference?

     I am trying to migrate a application coded by VC++ to TestStand+CVI. This application opens multiple serial com ports and send commands to test targets, and get responses from these targets. The VC++ application creates multiple thread, and every thread create an activeX server instance which is responsible for opening serial port,sending test commands ,and getting response. It works fine as every thread has itsown activeX instance, so data and commands can be handled in the right serial port successfully.
     Yet when I works on TestStand, I got problems. I choose parallel model as the process model. I create a activeX object reference with AxtiveX/COM Adapter, and store the reference in a sequence local varialbe. If there is only 1 testsocket, It is OK. But if there are multiple test sockets, and communication between the application and test targets will be directly to the last test target. I try to popup a message within a execution to indicate the value of the activeX object reference, and all of them are identical. But this is not the behavior I want.
    So, is it possible to force TestStand to create independent instances of an activeX server? How can I make it work?

      Yet I do get problems as none of us know how to program an activeX server so that it can be forced to be a single-instance or multiple-instance.
As I mentioned earlier, there is existing application which is written by VC++ can create multiple instances of this activeX server, all I have to do is to create multiple threads, and initiate an instance of this server to contrl multiple test targets.
     My colleague said he creates the server with VC++ ATL, and cofigure it to be dual-interface and STA. And in the VC++ application side(client side), I use smart-pointer in threads to create an instance of the server:

SQL Server Configuration Manager snap in not getting created by Microsoft Manager Console

I just installed SQL Server 2008 Express with Advanced Services. I want to enable FILESTREAM so I can install the AdventureWorks sample database. The instructions at this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc645923.aspx say:
On the Start menu, point to All Programs, point to Microsoft SQL Server 2008, point to Configuration Tools, and then click SQL Server Configuration Manager.
When I open SQL Server Configuration Manager I get an error message: "MMC could not create the snap in, the snap in might not have been installed correctly. Name: SQL Server Configuration Manager." Then it gives me a CLSID.
On this page: http://msdn.microsoft.com/en-us/library/ms174212.aspx it says: "Microsoft Management Console (mmc.exe) uses the SQLServerManager10.msc file in the Windows System32 folder to open SQL Server Configuration Manager."
I looked in the System32 folder and, sure enough, the file SQLServerManager10.msc is in there. It's XML inside the file.
Please help. I really need to get this SQL Server Configuration Manager working so I can enable FILESTREAM data and install the database. I appreciate any help you can give.

Go to the Run from the Start menu and type mmc and press enter to open an empty console. Under the File menu select "Add/Remove Snap-in". Click "Add" under Console Root and select the "Microsoft SQL Enterprise Manager" snap-in. Close windows until you are back to the mmc, and you can rename the "console1.msc" to default name which is "SQL Server Enterprise Manager.MSC" and save it under C:\Program Files\Microsoft SQL Server\80\Tools\Binn (Default location of SQL Server 2000) - Obviously you want your 2008 installation folder and unfortunately I don't have it so I couldn't point you to it... http://weblogs.sqlteam.com/

Ok I got your requirement now.
If you are getting file names from view attribute then you should not be adding destination URI property for the link.
Instead you can use OADataBoundValueViewObject API.
Try below code in your controller processRequest method:
I am assuming that you are using classic table.
Also in below example it considers OAMessageStyleText and you can replace it with link item if you want.

File not getting created at the Reciever

Hi All,
I have implemented a simeple file to file scenario. The file is getting deleted from the source directory but is not getting created in the target directory. It shows a checkered flag in SXMB_MONI . When i do Communication Channel monitoring for the reciever Comm. Channel, it shows no messsages .
I have refreshed the Cache in Integration directory. it is still not working.
I tried using a different Communication channel with the Mail adapter that is working fine.
I cant figure out what the problem is please help.

Even I faced same problem in project....... then I followed this procedure...
My scenario is FILE TO RFC via FTP Server in file adapter.
Here issue is file is picking from FTP and showing success in MONI but data is not reaching to BW system..
Most of the times I checked and I did successfully.
Main issue are due to:::
1. Check Queues in Inbound queue SMq2
2. Trace teh step by step in message flow in message monitoring that means check whether message flows
from a) Intergration Engine
b) Adapter Engine..
3. Check and trace the flow in Message monitoring in Run Time work Bench
4. Check Status of Receiver communication Channel in Communication channel Monitoring
5) Check whether Business Services are Scheduled in Availability Time planning or not
6 Also Check in Visual admin whether the services are released or not if any others are might using the same servivcees and cahnnels and suppose if they are scheduled or not
7. Do Cache Refresh mainly SXI CACHE, ADAPTER ENGINE CACHE
8 Finally if still not resolved J2EE ENgine SOFT Restart..instead of doing restarting entire XIengine server.
Once the Server is started then defintely all the messages if suppose if 40 messages are picked from source directory and not reached to Target then all those definetely 100% become success and reached
Note:: All above needs to check only if development part is correctly configured.
Also check the Receiver target and sender directory Permissions in FTP Server i.e., rwx permissions okay

Gateway registry not getting created

We are installing Sun IDM gateway (Version: Sun Java System Identity Manager 7.0) on Windows Server 2003 R2 + Service Pack 2 based on the specified command line installation commands.
But surprisingly its resgitry is not getting created under HKEY_LOCAK_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\. Due to this NDSExclusiveContext and other parameters cannot be set.
Please advise
