"To" field unresponsive in iOS4

I have noticed this in iOS4 both on a 3GS and an iPhone 4. When you choose to email a link or article to someone using the email option within the article, the "To" field in the email becomes unresponsive and you have to tap in the field multiple times before it will recognize the field location and let you enter who you are sending the email to. This has only started on the 3GS since the iOS4 upgrade, where it worked normally before. Obviously the iPhone 4 came with iOS4 on it already.

Hi,
I wonder if it's caused by a corrupted view, please start Outlook with the switch "/cleanviews":
Press Win + R and type “outlook.exe /cleanviews” in the blank box, then press Enter.
Then Go to View tab -> View Settings ->
Columns -> Find Select available columns from, then select To
under Available columns, click on Add button ->
OK.
Then you should see the To column.
If this column keeps disappearing, let the user create a new profile to check the result:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/829918/en-us
It also could be the GPO settings, but it's only with one user, I doubt it.

  • Slow and unresponsive after iOS4 update

    While the new features are nice, the slow down is not.
    My 3G now seems slow and unresponsive in all Apps and generally.
    Not very happy with that to be honest, don't see why it should be slower.

    I have had the same problem with my iPhone using the iOS4 update. I reset my iPhone and it was still slow. I also fully turned it off and waited a whole day and turned it on (resulted in a minor improvement to speed). I can't use multi tasking etc because I don't have the 3GS phone. I also had an issue where I couldn't open up iTunes!! I pressed the icon, and the phone froze in the iTunes screen without displaying any albums etc..... then it returned to the home screen. I repeated the process 3 times with the same result. It did eventually open up on the 4th time and played a song. I am not very impressed with the performance of my iPhone after the software update and will give it another week or so to see if Apple release any "fixes" after that I'm going to revert back to the old software.

  • Since I upgraded to ios5 safari can't handle the java setting on an internal work web site. When i click on a field it appears to be uncalibrated. How can I add another browser or go back to ios4 till a fix is found?

    My current work around is turning java on and off, but all fields are still not active. Please advise. Thank you.

    JavaScript is a rather flexible language and not always totally cross-browser, so what works with one browser may not work with another, or even in some cases a revision of one that worked before. Absent corrections to the web site, if the site isn't working on your iPad now, you will indeed probably need a different browser. There's no supported way to downgrade your version of iOS, but there are other web browsers available in the iTunes Store, including Opera Mini and iCab Mobile. One of those might be happier with the JavaScript on your web site. Opera is free, so you might want to try that first.
    Regards.

  • Updating to iOS4.3 ... stalled ... everything's unresponsive.

    So I finally managed to download an uncorrupted version of iOS4.3 for my iPhone 4. It's started to do the update, but now it's halted midway through (the progress bar on iTunes has reached to just under the 'a' of 'Updating' in the message bar saying 'Updating iPhone software ...', the progress bar on the iPhone has barely started).
    I presume unplugging and trying again is going to have the iPhone in all sorts of fit and complaints, but I can't really see any alternatives.

    Well your probably going to have to unplug it. More then likely this will brick your phone. If a second restore does not work take it into a apple store..

  • Home button completely unresponsive since upgrading my 3.1 3G to iOS4

    At first I thought it was just being terribly slow, like the rest of complaints.
    If is started any app, I would not be able to get back the home screen, unless I turn the phone off and on again.
    This happened immediately after the update to 4.01

    Just an update.
    I went to the Apple Store in Winnipeg, Manitoba and was told I had to buy a new iPhone.
    What kind of scam is this?
    Apple nags me update my iPhone software, and when I do, it breaks my phone.
    The fix is for ME to buy a new iPhone.

  • How do I set the "reply to" field in the iPad 2 Mail app?  I use an email forwarding service (not an actual email account) that I would like people to reply to.

    How do I set the "reply to" field in the iPad 2 Mail app?  I use an email forwarding service (not an actual email account) that I would like people to reply to, so setting up an account with the correct reply-to address doesn't work because there's no associated outgoing mail server.  I had this working under iOS4 but it seems to have disappeared when I upgraded to iOS5.

    Welcome to the forum, NicoleYM. I don't think the Touch Mail has as many options as the Mac Mail app. However, you could set a standard signature. Go to Settings > Mail, Contacts, Calendars > Signature. There you can type a reply address and hope people see it.
    Alternatively, you can go to your GMail account in your web browser and click on Settings > Forwarding and POP/IMAP. There you will have an option to forward all emails (or only some, if you set up a filter) to your other address.
    Good luck!

  • Enire system unresponsive at regular intervals

    This problem is similar to others I've found, but none of those suggestions/answers have solved my problem.
    While I'm using my computer--which usually 6 or more hours each day--every 10 or 15 minutes everything stops. Quite literally stops, as though the system has crashed. The mouse still moves the cursor, but clicking on any open window simply puts the associated application into a "not responding" state in the Activity Monitor, and the little beach ball just spins and spins. It changes to a pointer if it goes over a window from an application that is not yet identified as "not responding", but click and that changes as well.
    The system stays in this state for 30 - 90 seconds, and then, as though by magic, or perhaps an act of God, everything proceeds as though nothing had happened.
    Things seem to get worse over the course of that 30 - 90 second absence and even the Activity Monitor stops. The trace at the bottom simply stops, and none of the activity values in the table change, and the AM is unresponsive to any mouse click.
    Some observations:
    1. The system does not respond to the keyboard when having such a seizure.
    2. The time of day clock in the top menu bar stops ticking and does not advance.
    3. CPU usage is NOT anywhere near 100% in the AM, or at least it is not reported as such. In fact, it seems to be no different than it was when the seizure started.
    4. Nor is the network busy or the disk hyperactive. All critical indicators seem normal. System memory (2 gig) may be full, but no swapping is being done during a seizure.
    5. When the seizure ends, I have seen a burst of network activity and at the same time a burst of CPU activity by a task called "spindump". Occasionally there has been more than one such burst at the resumption of activity. I cannot say that this happens every time.
    6. I have repaired permissions using the Disk Utility.
    7. I removed my real-time virus scanning software (which I run to prevent accidentally sending a virus to a PC based client)
    8. I stopped using Safari after reading something that suggested these types of problems might be associated with Safari.
    9. I have 135 Gbytes free on my 500 Gbyte Macintosh HD drive. I also have an external 750 Gbyte LaCie USB 2 drive that I use strictly for backup. The external drive may or may not be active when a seizure occurs.
    10. I have 2 Gbytes of RAM which was preinstalled when I bought my system.
    11. I use a bluetooth keyboard and mouse, but as I said, during a seizure, the mouse at least seems to communicate just fine, and the keyboard input is obviously received, since the system got my login correctly while seeming to be unconscious. See the next paragraph.
    12. I do have about 1,500,000 files on my system, but as I mentioned there is no exceptional disk activity associated with this issue.
    Now, for the kicker. Yesterday, in another of my frustrating attempts to get this behavior to stop, I was rebooting my computer, and IT SUFFERED A SEIZURE WHILE ON THE LOGIN SCREEN, with no users logged in. I clicked in the user name field and the ol' beachball started spinning away and continued to do so for 45 seconds (which seemed much longer under the circumstances), then accepted all of the characters of my login which I had typed while waiting and logged me in just fine.
    Anyone who can provide any help or useful insight will be highly regarded by me forever. I use my computer to earn a living and <great irony, while I was typing this message, my computer stopped right here for over a minute> stopping several times an hour to watch nothing happen, is getting on my nerves.

    Since I needed to be out all morning, last night I left my machine running with Sleep turned off and all applications except for the Console shut off. I turned off Time Machine, because I had noticed that the seizures were occurring about 4 minutes after Time Machine finished its hourly backup.
    The Time Machine connection turned out to be only a coincidence. From midnight until noon, the seizure problem re-occurred every hour on the hour, and with no activity on the computer at all, it lasted longer, at least five minutes in each case. It's easy to tell how long they last because the console messages conveniently appear every ten seconds.
    Time Machine just happened to be running backups at 8 minutes before the hour which made it look as though they were connected.
    Other than the hourly recurrence, I have seen the problem only when I open a mailbox in Mail. (Dang, it's 2 PM so I just got to sit here for 4 minutes,)
    Tomorrow, I will take printouts of the logs over to the Apple store and talk to a genius as suggested. I'll report what I learn.
    In the meantime, my theory is that this is related to the Spotlight indexing activity done, I believe, by the system routine "mds". I installed the 750 gig backup drive just two weeks ago, and now back up all of my non-OS files (~250 gig) instead of just the most critical 30 gig I was putting on a smaller external drive. I have seen other comments here and elsewhere on the Internet suggesting that the indexing can periodically gobble up your processor, especially when there are large piles of new files to play with. But that's just my theory. I'll report facts when I have them.

  • Bug after adding fields in advanced search mode of af:query

    We are migrating from JDeveloper 11.1.1.6 to 11.1.1.7.
    I noticed the following issue:
    In a page with search criteria (based on a view object), when the user adds an additional field in advanced search mode and clicks on a full submit button in the page, the following browser popup appears:
    "This page is asking you to confirm that you want to leave - data you have entered may not be saved."
    This was logged as a bug in Oracle Support but we have not been able to find a workaround yet.
    This is the only issue currently blocking us from migrating to 11.1.1.7. Has anyone else faced this issue? Any ideas on how we can bypass this behavior?
    Thank you,
    Gabriel.

    Unfortunately, the latest update from Oracle Support was that they no longer consider this a bug!
    SR 3-7706485141: Additional Fields in af:query problem - JDeveloper 11.1.1.7
    Bug 17346704 - ADDING FIELD TO AF:QUERY ADVANCED SEARCH CAUSES SPURIOUS WARNING DIALOG POPUP
    1. I cannot understand how something that blocks user actions and cannot be bypassed in any way could be considered "acceptable behavior".
    2. I also do not understand how a Bug can be lodged and then have its status changed to "Not a Bug".
    3. Even if we were to ignore this issue and convince our customers that they should be delayed by meaningless popups while working (which we cannot), their is still another issue that makes this functionality dysfunctional. When the user clicks on "Stay on Page" the popup closes and the page freezes and becomes unresponsive.
    Off course this is another issue and a different SR should open, but I think it shows that something is going very wrong with this functionality.
    I wonder if anyone else is considering using JDeveloper 11.1.1.7.0 in a production system.

  • Feedback noise from iOS4 upgrade to 3GS

    Dear Apple marketing folks, we appreciate your developers, but please get us a patch for this iOS4 issue ASAP. Think of the bad (and very public) experiences that are now happening daily with iPhones randomly making loud screeching noises in work places, cafes, buses, subways, etc.. Talk about bad word-of-mouth marketing. Ouch. The Android marketing people are going to have a field day with this one if it does not get fixed quick.
    The recent upgrade to iOS4 on my otherwise great 3GS is causing random, loud, high-pitched, feedback noises to emit every time the phone makes a noise for anything else (reminder ding, etc).
    A phone call with tech support only got me a suggestion to do a Restore via iTunes and confirmation that they know this is trending up. The Restore did not work.
    Other threads listing the same issue:
    1. http://bit.ly/bzAf8Z
    2. http://bit.ly/cg1hKo
    3. http://bit.ly/agbFAY
    4. http://bit.ly/auDYNx
    5. http://bit.ly/bTxsBT
    Lots of blog mentions on the issue just like this one from iLounge: http://bit.ly/eA1rU.

    I have had the same issue following my upgrade to iOS4. In my opinion these issues are uncharacteristic of Apple. I have had no issues with this phone or any other Apple product that I have used until I made the upgrade to iOS4. I agree with the other posts that something needs to be done about this (and other iOS4 issue) ASAP. PLEASE post any tricks that you have found (besides restores, and reboots which I have already done without lasting success)to work on a more permanent basis.

  • Itunes unresponsive when switching between two devices

    For God Sake help me with this,
    i have so many apps on my iTunes(mac) ,since i updated my itunes from 11 to 12 it has been my worst nightmare ever..
    whenever i attach two or more devices ,switching between devices it becomes unresponsive so that i have to force quit iTunes
    i googled this issue,tried lots of things.but no success
    plzzzzzz help

    Paul,
    Thanks for responding.
    I'm still confused as to which field the script goes in and how to enter it in relationship to any existing script.
    Instead of me trying to explain verbally, I'll show you what I have.
    Document Hierarchy:
    Subform path & script: (I'm assuming I need one for each subform)
    xfa.host.resetData("xfa.form1.Page1.subform1");
    xfa.host.resetData("xfa.form1.Page1.subform2");
    "Radio Button List" Click Event script that shows/hides subforms:
    form1.Page1.FLOC.RadioButtonList::click - (JavaScript, client)
    if (this.rawValue == 1)
        Subform1.presence = "visible";
        Subform2.presence = "hidden";
    else if (this.rawValue == 2)
        Subform2.presence = "visible";
        Subform1.presence = "hidden";
    if (this.rawValue == 1)
        Efficiency.presence = "visible";
    if (this.rawValue == 2)
        Efficiency.presence = "visible";
    I've tried putting the script  inside the curly brackets, outside the curly brackets, at various locations within the above script, but no matter where I put it, it clears the entire form.
    Would you be so kind as to re-write the above script  properly so I can see what it's supposed to look like.
    Thanks!

  • Why was RSSI removed from iOS4?

    It appears that the Field Test Mode has been removed from iOS4 which also prevents owners from accessing their RSSI levels. The RSSI level provides a much better indication of the cellular wireless service signal strength than the signal strength bars. Why has this feature been removed from my 3G phone with iOS4, and is there a better way to monitor signal strength that will not use bars that work on a faulty algorithm?

    If you developed a phone that had "signal strength issues" that you were blaming on a mis-calibrated "bars" display, would you want to have a direct signal strength display as well, letting users verify that claim for themselves?

  • Address Book Server will not sync all fields with iOS client

    Hello,
    I am getting really frustrated with my Mac Mini Server.
    Apparently, the Address Book Server DOES NOT sync all fields.
    Only standard vCard-fields seem to synced.
    I have not successfully synced user-defined fields, such as an additional date.
    Any ideas / infos on how to achieve this if this possible at all?
    Thanks for the input,
    Erasmus
    One thing: I posted the same question in the "Lion" (non-server) discussion - sorry for any confusion.
    One thing I noticed:
    All changes made on the server in the OS X Address Book are distributed to two iOS clients (iPod 4th Gen iOS4 iPhone 3GS iOS 4).
    Any help is appreciated.

    Sorry for answering myself...
    I just found out that after editing the newly distributed entry on an iOS4-Client, some fields on the server are deleted!

  • Only a 3 fields are searched on iPhone?

    Unless I'm missing a preference, it seems Contacts on iPhone4 - iOS4
    only searches these 3 fields:
    firstname
    lastname
    company
    Is this possible? If so, this is amazingly limited. Is there a way to
    broaden searches to additional fields?
    Addressbook on the Mac searches most if not all your fields.
    Does iOS5 and/or iPhone4S search more fields?
    Thx,
    S

    From page 28 of the iPhone iOS5 User Guide
    App            What’s searched
    Contacts     First, last, and company names
    Mail           To, From, and Subject fields and the messages of all accounts
    Calendar    Event titles, invitees, locations, and notes

  • CS4 Crash, Properties panel unresponsive

    Recently I had issue with Flash CS4 crashing repeatedly. Also
    the application would have trouble using the text tool to create
    TextFields it would not update the properties panel (Ctrl+F3) when
    switching between field types (dynamic, static and input). Also the
    properties panel would not update when selecting other items in the
    FLA file and just remain as the TextField details.
    A co-worker found that the issue was with the fonts on our
    systems. It appears some where corrupt and this was wreaking havoc
    with Flash CS4. We tried turning off the preview but that did not
    work. What did work was removing the corrupt fonts on our systems.
    First we had to find out which fonts were corrupt which can
    be done with FontAgentPro from Insider Software
    (www.insidersoftware.com). (Compatible with Mac OSX, XP and Vista)
    We installed the trial and tried to run an import which told
    us which fonts were corrupt. Once we knew which fonts were corrupt
    we just deleted/removed them from our Font folder. Note
    FontAgentPro crashed when we deleted/removed the fonts with it
    open; so we had to make a list of the fonts and close FontAgentPro.
    Once the bad fonts were gone we were able to open and run
    Flash CS4 without it crashing or the properties panel from hanging
    or becoming unresponsive.
    We hope this helps other who are experiencing similar issues.
    Note:
    On fresh Vista install Calibri, Cambria and Constantia fonts
    were all seen as corrupt. Not sure if this happened due to font
    installs we made, vista install bad (which runs very stable) or if
    Vista fonts are a different creature than previous window OT and
    TTF fonts.

    Unfortunately Adobe is notorious for not following Windows
    standard APIs. It
    is unlikely they will fix the issue anytime soon.

  • Adobe PDF Printer crashes when pasting in the filename field

    Greetings, first off there is no similar problem with any freeware pdf printers so I want to rule out my system config as being the culprit. This only happens in Adobe PDF.
    How to reproduce the problem? Have something in your clipboard and try to paste it into the filename field when printing the file as a pdf - you should have now crashed whatever you were trying to print and the program behind it.
    Please make a fix for this, it is ridiculous that I have to install a second, freeware, pdf printer because thousand dollar software is not working properly. And I have lost tons of receipts and work this way.

    I'm having a similar issue, on windows 7, 32 bit desktop system, using Windows Live Mail, with Acrobat X standard:
    Any time I try to "print to pdf" an email, just attempting to enter a file name for the pdf (no cut-and-paste), the dialogue box freezes, I can enter several characters, then the keyboard just freezes, the dialogue box becomes unresponsive. WLM ends up crashing. My work around is to not attempt to specify a name, just go with what Acrobat supplies, typically some thing like 00008.pdf. Then edit the name, and/or location, within Windows Explorer.
    I've tried repairing the install, believe that actually worked, a few months back. Tried again today when the problem cropped up again, but repairing the install didn't help.
    This has been ongoing for me for some months now. Not situation normal. Don't want to be snippy, but seems like tech support response is VERY slack...
