To filter or not to filter ?

We have just had BT Infinity installed.  The first attempt was a failure.  I raised a fault and a different team came on Day 2.
The old master socket in the hall was re-wired, and the extension socket in my "office" was also rewired and made into the new master socket.  On the engineer's leaving I asked if we still needed the line filters and was told "no" because the new master socket face plate did all that for the whole house.
After 2 days of watching the DSL light on the modem being "off" more that "on" I have replaced the filters and everything now works as it should and the DSL light is a steady green
So - don't throw your filters away - you never know when you may need them !!!

Hi - sorry for lack of formatting but sending from mobile. If you need filters, the rewiring was done incorrectly!!!! I had a similar problem (look up star wiring for the thread) and it wasn't until that was sorted out, that the drop outs stopped. All the best Michael Edit - could be a dodgy faceplate of course.

  • Video Filter does not work.

    Hello.
    I have been using Final Cut Pro 4 for a while and it worked fine before. But recently, any function of Video Filter does not work. I apply them to the clip, but the image does not show any changes on Canvas.
    Is the software's problem?
    Thanks in advance.

    For a reason unknown to me, FCP's preference files (there's 3 of them) will sometimes become corrupted and need to be trashed. Usually the symptoms are things just not working as they did earlier, or weird issues like the 3 Way Color Corrector looks different than before ... stuff like that.
    FCP Rescue is a freeware app (yes, you'll need to download it) that will create a backup set of preferences, thereby retaining all of your settings. Then when (not IF, but when) FCP's preferences become corrupted, you can run FCP Rescue to replace the bad set with a fresh new set.
    Otherwise you can delete the files yourself (make sure FCP isn't open at the time) and the next time you launch FCP, it will revert back to the factory settings.

  • Filter does not work with *.jsp URL pattern???

    Hi All,
    I am, by no means, very good at JSF or Java. I have looked at various forum posts on here for ways to implement a security filter to intercept requests to pages that first require one to be logged in, and if not, redirect them to the login page. Yes, I know a lot of you have heard this many times before, and I'm sorry to bring it up again.
    BUT, from the guidance of other posts, I have got a filter that works fine when the url pattern is set to "/faces/*" or "/<anything>/*", however it won't work for "*.jsp" or "*.<anything>"
    My filter is as follows:
    package test.security;
    import javax.faces.context.FacesContext;
    import javax.servlet.Filter;
    import javax.servlet.FilterChain;
    import javax.servlet.FilterConfig;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpSession;
    import javax.servlet.ServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.ServletResponse;
    import javax.servlet.ServletException;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletRequest;
    import javax.servlet.http.HttpServletResponse;
    public class SecurityFilter implements Filter{
        /** Creates a new instance of SecurityFilter */
        private final static String FILTER_APPLIED = "_security_filter_applied";
        public SecurityFilter() {
        public void init(FilterConfig filterConfig) {
        public void doFilter(ServletRequest request, ServletResponse response, FilterChain chain) throws java.io.IOException, ServletException{
            HttpServletRequest req = (HttpServletRequest)request;
            HttpServletResponse res = (HttpServletResponse)response;
            HttpSession session = req.getSession();
            String requestedPage = req.getPathTranslated();
            String user=null;
            if(request.getAttribute(FILTER_APPLIED) == null) {
                //check if the page requested is the login page or register page
                if((!requestedPage.endsWith("Page1.jsp")) /* This is the login page */
                    //set the FILTER_APPLIED attribute to true
                    request.setAttribute(FILTER_APPLIED, Boolean.TRUE);
                    //Check that the session bean is not null and get the session bean property username.
                    if(((test.SessionBean1)session.getAttribute("SessionBean1"))!=null) {
                        user = ((test.SessionBean1)session.getAttribute("SessionBean1")).getUsername();
                    if((user==null)||(user.equals(""))) {
                       // try {
                     //       FacesContext.getCurrentInstance().getExternalContext().redirect("Page1.jsp");
                      //  } catch (ServletException ex) {
                      //      log("Error Description", ex);
                        res.sendRedirect("../Page1.jsp");
                        return;
            //deliver request to next filter
            chain.doFilter(request, response);
        public void destroy(){
    }My web.xml declaration for the filter is:
    <filter>
      <description>Filter to check whether user is logged in.</description>
      <filter-name>SecurityFilter</filter-name>
      <filter-class>test.security</filter-class>
    </filter>
    <filter-mapping>
      <filter-name>SecurityFilter</filter-name>
      <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
    </filter-mapping>
    Note: I have also tried this with <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern> for the filter mapping in place of the Faces Servlet
    My web.xml declaration for the url pattern is:
    <servlet-mapping>
      <servlet-name>Faces Servlet</servlet-name>
      <url-pattern>*.jsp</url-pattern>
    </servlet-mapping>Which JSC/NetbeansVWP automatically creates a "JSCreator_index.jsp" which has:
    <?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?>
    <jsp:root  version="1.2" xmlns:jsp="http://java.sun.com/JSP/Page">
      <jsp:forward page="Page1.jsp"/>
    </jsp:root>When run, this causes an Error 500 in the browser and a NullPointerException in SecurityFilter.java on the line:
    if((!requestedPage.endsWith("Page1.jsp")) /* This is the login page */I think I'm missing something that would be obvious to anyone who knows better than me. Any ideas?

    Dear Ginger and Boris,
    thanks for the information - the problem seems to ocur in EP7 as well, Boris told me it is fixed in SP15. We are on SP14 now, so there is hope !
    actually the information in the oss note stated above is also true, as we have an Oracle DB. On a similar demo system (only difference is SQL DB) the hyphen search works !
    best regards, thank you !
    Johannes

  • Report Issue - A subquery filter may not reference the current report

    Hi,
    I a, trying to create a drill down report - I am getting below error when I drill down from summary report to detail -
    A subquery filter may not reference the current report (or contain a circular reference to any report).
    Error Details
    Error Codes: S6C66RYK:WIF3IYGO
    Recursion limit exceeded in Xml Expression Visitor
    The issue is I have a budget report which will drill down to display amount by each period -
    Jan-10 Feb-10 Mar-10
    1223 123 10
    Now I am trying to display detail GL transactions by clicking the amount field.
    This means summary report should pass period along with amount to display detail GL transactions.
    Please help me to resolve this issue.
    Thanks,
    Poojak

    Explain exactly how you create your 2 reports.
    The second one must have "is prompted" filters if you want it to use the values of the first one.

    If i remove filter declaration in web.xml, It is deploying without any errors...
    But i need to configure the filter...

  • PPS dynamic filter creation - not your normal thing but we need a solution, dont think Performance Point can handle it!

    My challenge at the moment is that I need to create a dynamic filter. To explain this is a cascading filter but not your normal cascading filter,
    ie, Year/Month/day etc.
    Here we have a single Dimension, Organisation. It contains every level of a business,
    Site,
    Dept,
    Company name,
    Division
    Holding
    Strategic Area
    From these as a default we have 4 built hierarchies with a different combination of the above.
    Activity (Strategic Area, Dept)
    Organisation (company Name, site, Dept)
    Sites (Division, Site)
    Holdings(Holding, Strategic Area, site, Dept)
    At any given time we have have additional Hierarchies created within the Dimension, further adding to the hierarchy list.
    We now have a challenge where we require our users to be able to in the first filter select the Hierarchy they want to use, ie, Holdings, Site, Organisation
    or Activity. This should then cascade to the second filter and contain the relevant hierarchy and levels as a multi select filter. Of course this also needs to be connected to number of graphs, charts and scorecards on the page, dynamically.
    I have gone around the houses to get this to work but not having any luck. Tried the variety of filters available, MDX, member selection, tabular,
    SharePoint, and attempted to mix and match to get this to work. I cannot find a way but I don't believe this is not possible.
    If it is not possible we must look around for another front end solution for our BI Dashboards which I would prefer to avoid. Any response or suggestion
    would be much appreciated.

    Hi Sheb,
    Please check the articles below and see if cascading filter in PerformancePoint Dashboard can be help:

  • Filter is not working

    Hi Experts,
    We are trying to replicate the data from one oracle database to more than one target oracle database , For this we have used region wise filter on data PUMP process , like where region_id =US,EU,IN
    The filter is working normally for ascii characters but for other language like chinese and russian characters the pump is not sending the records  ,without filter no issues ,all the char is replicating properly,  if we use region wise filter for other char (chinese,rusian) its not working ,   why the filter is not working and fetching only for other charset data in pump process... can any one help on this to resolve this issue?
    Could you please confirm is there any restriction in PUMP parameter for filtering other charset values (russian char)???
    Thanks in Advance,

    Hi,
    Thanks.  I have upgraded the GG version from 11.1 to 11.2 , now the issue is resolved and russian characters also can filtered and replicated to target. i'm assuming this issue was due gg build for 10g which was used for 11g database . .

  • Photoshop CC Lighting Filter is not working

    Lighting Filter is not working.  When you run the filter the circular ring/point does not appear to adjust the light.  It is totally missing. You can adjust the settings but the filter never runs.  After attempting to run the filter I tried to go back to my workspace.  It would not reset to the default Essential workspace.  The other workspaces were OK.  I closed and reopened the application and my workspace was restored.  I tried running my GPU settings in advanced normal and basic.  None of the settings worked.  Please advise if I am missing something.

    The filter is now working.  It looks like you must close and reopen the application after changing your settings for the filter to work.

  • SharePoint 2010 list view - How to filter on a multiline text box field - the view filter does not allow me to select it.

    Hi there,
    Does someone know in SharePoint 2010 list view - How to filter on a multiline text box field - the view filter does not allow me to select it.
    Thanks,

    Hi,
    Per my knowledge,
    it is by design that the data type multiple lines of text can only use “contains” and “begins with” operators.
    You can also filter the list view using SharePoint Designer,
    Open your list AllItem.aspx page in SPD ->click “Filter” > in “Field Name” select your multipe line of text field, in “Comparison” will displayed four choices.

  • BEX query: filter is not displayed in one of the users

    Hi,
    We created a BEX Query with a Month/Year filter.
    When I run the query with my user, it's working ok (photo 2).
    When I run it with another user, the filter is not dislayed (photo 1).
    I've checked the role with PFCG, bit i don't know what it's misssing. The infoarea, infocube and name of the query are included in the PFCG, as well as the activities: execute, visualize, etc. (Photo 3).
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advanced!!
    Florencia

    Hi,
    Just compare assigned roles for My user and other user.
    Then you may know the missed authorizations.
    As my guess  your issue will authorization related one.
    Thanks

  • Performance of using a "Like" Filter *is not due to straight index issue*

    Hello,
    We have just released an Oracle APEX app to the users and ran into a performance issue in the production version that was not in development. The interactive report goes against a simple view that returns Data similar to:
    NAME VALUE MIN MAX
    BEL123 1 1 3
    BEL245 3 3 4
    AB222 2 1 3
    The issue is that when a filter is used on the name column with a like operand (name LIKE 'BEL%' ). The query performance become very poor (average is 29 seconds to return according to the APEX stats). These are huge tables but the performance in the development area is quick (almost instantaneous). Here are the things I have looked into to try and narrow the problem down:
    1) I have tried running the exact same query in SQL*Plus and the performance is quick in both production and development, so its not the indexes.
    2) Creating brand new reports from scratch causes the same results in production and development. So its not anything specific that has been changed in the two versions (which are identical)
    3) Putting the NAME Like 'BEL%' directly into the SQL clause of the report produces quick returns in production so the problem is not the APEX user not seeing the indexes for some reason. It also ensures that any data differences in the two databases are not the root cause of this.
    So my only theory is that somehow the use of the Like filter does not allow the index on the NAME column to be used but only in production. Any ideas ... I am at a loss.

    Apex does run the query the same way a direct connection does. It gets parsed, bind variables are peeked and an optimizer plan produced.
    You have a query performance problem, not an Apex problem.
    Oracle manages all SQL this way, irrespective of where it comes from.
    Since we can only see the view, and not the full query (ie with all the tables, joins, predicates...) it is all pretty much guesswork for us.
    It could be either the initial bind value (ie what was in the variable originally queried). If it was '%', then as a predicate it is pretty much useless. Your application should either prevent a '%' in the first character, or generate a separate SQL for that. If the '%' was the second character, then (depending on data volumes and data distribution) that may also result in a poorly performing plan.
    Depending on db version you could look at v$sql_bind_capture for that SQL and see what values were used for peeking.
    How many rows in DT_SCADA_TAGS ? The full table scan entry suggests you have 75 million in DT_SCADA_VALUES
    The hash join between DT_SCADA_DATETIMES and DT_SCADA_VALUES suggests that there isn't a decent join path between the two (eg no date index on DT_SCADA_VALUES or one that indicates a low selectivity).Through testing the initial bind variable does not impact what the performance is ... even if its a full unique value without % it does not work any different. In this capture it was a full value 'BEL2395489'. There is 75 Million rows in DT_SCADA_VALUES. There is indexes on the dates and tag_names. I'll post the view for completeness at the end.
    The outstanding issue/knowledge from here is that an APEX Filter using LIKE may be handled differently then a LIKE within the initial SQL by the parser and may lead to .
