To go for SAP PS module or not to go?

Hi All,
There is a saying "better to be late than never". I Akash B.E(Mech.) though having extreme inclination towards software industry opted for industrial work 12years back and worked hard to retain there. But my urge towards computers is drawing me back to it. Having a strong experience of 12years of Projects, Good communication skills, logical & analytical skills, Interpersonal skill and hands on implementation experience in SAP (PS) (from customer's ends), I am thinking to build my career as a SAP PS consultant. I have following questions in mind:-
Is it a right move?
Whats the present demand for PS consultant?
How should I proceed for it?

Hi Akash,
Well I don't know how to react to this query. May be this is against SCN rules as you are providing your personal and professional details and seeking an experts advise to make your carrier. I don't know whether your question is meant to be answered at here at SCN or not. But since you have asked three questions. Following are my findings or suggestions.
1. Is it a right move?
As you said you have 12 years of strong experience in projects. It means you are more associated with real time projects scenarios. So Yes, It is a right move.
2. Whats the present demand for PS consultant?
Its not about demand of PS consultant. Every module of SAP has its own and unique importance and each and every aspect of SAP is demanding and challenging indeed.
3. How should I proceed for it?
I believe you are more of a field person who is associated with projects related activities but to incorporate your experience in SAP, then of course you need to learn SAP. To achieve this, better go for Certification Class room courses and groom yourself in SAP.

Message "Creation of DataSources for SAP source system is not permitted"

Hi,
I am in DW Workbench: Modeling and I need to copy a DataSource.
It's impossible, beacause I have this Message "Creation of DataSources for SAP source system is not permitted"!
What can I do?

Hii.
You can not copy the standard datasource to any other source system it will not allow you to do that.
But if you want to copy you can copy it to PC FILE source system.
It will allow you to copy there.
Right click in Datasource->Copy-> Give Target datasource name -
> intarget Source system tab -
>Give Source system for File.

Financial experience for SAP FICO module

is experience in core finance required for SAP FICO module or experience in financial domain good enough ?

All that you require for SAP FI is the ability to understand the business process in FI terms and implement the same in SAP.
Good domain knowledge is a must for SAP FI consultant - either it be in the form of education or thru' experience.
If you can understand the requirements in FI terminology, you can easily start your career in SAP FI and can value add your knowledge thru' experience.

Documentation for SAP function modules??

Hello,
is there any documentation for the SAP function modules available?
I need documentation for SJ01 (SAP Objects). If I try to view the documentation in SE80, I get the error message: "Document OJ_XXX(whatever I selected) is not available in language DE"
Where can I get this documentation?
Is there an overview+documentation available somewhere of all SAP functions which may be used for own programs? Or how do I know what's already available and how to use it?

M currently working as a End user in SAP SD and m interested to prepare for SAP certification. Is that i can do self study using materials and go ahead with SAP certification exam . Is that possible to write the certification or any T&C that i should have attending any SAP courses.

consultancy experieince is a must to clear the certifiication , sap india will look for few criteras like that u should have worked in sap with same company i.e in consulting experieince and some times ask the experieince certificate from company hr department if they are not satisifed

you should have a look to the <a href="http://service.sap.com/pam">Product Availability Matrix</a> at the SAP Service Marketplace. On the right pane, navigate to SAP Industry-Specific Components and then SAP PUBLIC SECTOR PSCD.
For example, when choosing SAP PUBLIC SECTOR PSCD 4.72, you will see, that PSCD is an addon for SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE. You now have to check, on which platforms SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE is certified.
On the right pane, navigate to SAP Application Components and then SAP R/3 ENTERPRISE. Choose your SAP R/3 Enterprise release and check on which database platforms it is released (If database is certified, the Application Server is certified as well. Because of this, you always have to check for the database platforms!).
Choose your database and check which operating systems are certified.

Data Services XI3.1 function module files for SAP R/3 is not working

Hi guys,
Thank you for the quick response so far. I am very grateful to you all.
I got an issue and will try to explain as detail as I could and
hope ur guys won't mind. :P
I pass the functions module to SAP tech guy to install to SAP using CTS
method, and using 900086.R63 file type because my chinese client is
running SAP on unicode environment.
My DS installed on my laptop client; job server plus db2 is on HP
unix. SAP is on another HP Unix server. The function module I used is
supplied from Data Services XI3.1.
Anyway, the installation is successfully done with GUI wizard windows of
SAP Workbench instead of tp command line method.
1)However, I checked the ZAW0 function group, I opened and can't see any functions
listed under it, although the table structures ZACTA, ZTAB2048 and other items
were created.
2)So I tried to create SAP Datastore, Transport Target, etc and tried to
extract file. It failed and log said "can't open file ---
/db2/temp/curcode.txt". I checked and SAP working directory /db2/temp didn't have
curcode.txt, because the result file supposed to be extracted and stored there.
The SAP tech guy checked SAP and cant find generated ABAP program of
ZCURCD is running anyway, although my local CURCD ABAP program is
created.
3)Is it the 900086.R63 not complete? Is my function installation correct? I could view data
on datastore, but just cant run job to extract. Another non-unidcode 900200.S08 group
has larger file sizes. Should I try to install also this 900200.S08 files? Will it corrupt SAP
and cause system errors?
4)After that, I had tried to install the functions manually into ZAW0
one by one using cut and paste, however after that, I cant view the data view anymore with
error. Besides, I tried to run Check on the functions and they all returned
syntax errors, so I cant Activate any of them with SAP. Maybe dependency is missing??
Then, I deleted the manually installed functions and can view data again, but just cant extract
data by job.
5)Another side issue is all these SAP datastore creation and viewing is
through DI 11.5 old installation. The new Data Services X3.1 unable to
create datastore with database error, although the function module
installed is came from Data Services. Does anyone know the issue?

Thank you for the informative link. It did help a lot in solving the problem.
(1) to (4) --- The Sap tech guy didnt install the function programs correctly, and he redo the transport again using CTS. Now I can see all the functions inside the function group ZAW0. While for the problem of cannot generate extracted file to SAP working directory for downloading, it is due to unix directory access permission setting. And also have to include the ftp username into SAPSYS user group as the help link suggested.
(5) For this problem, I reinstalled again the DS with all required components like Server Manager. The network technical guy helped me with the first installation, and the installation was not complete. So now the issue is solved, I can create R/3 Datastore with DS.

How to search custom T Codes for SAP SD Module

I have searched over the net to figure that custom T Codes can be searched using table TSTC and putting 'Z' in the selection criteria 'T code'.
This shows the list of all Z tcodes for all modules. How do I find the Z tcodes for SD Module. Please help here!!

Krishna has explained good way to search it out but most of the time Authorization of T-code SE93 is missing so here is another way to find our transaction codes.
1. Execute Transaction Code SE11 :

3. Click on the icon as:

5. It will show the T-code and also the Program Name & T-Code Description and related information :

No, Simens is just a training partner of SAP.
How much will be the fees for that module?
Cost for certification is 28,000 rs, but if u go for training and certification both it will cost more. Not sure of the exact amount.
what is duration for that module
Duration is 1 month.

Which BAPIs are you looking for ? What's your detailed requirement ?
Using SE37 Transaction, you cand find the BAPI Function modules.
Search using BAPI* or META* to get all the existing SRM BAPIs.
Meta function are generic call to external system. Depending on system kind and release, the function to call is different. The bapi that the Meta will effectly call in a backend is defined in table bbp_function_map.

Does IT services sales experience can be counted as a domain experience for SAP SD Fresher?

I am new to SCN and i need your help.
I am currently working as a Sales Executive with an IT consulting firm specialized in SAP & Oracle consulting services.
I want to enter into SAP world and i thought that SAP SD is best for me because of my education (MBA-Marketing) & current experience.
When i research on SAP SD i got to know that Domain knowledge is very important for a consultant. I felt happy because I have around 3 Years of Sales experience for Oracle & SAP consulting services.
After enrolling for SAP SD education one day I heard that experience of services industry is not counted as a domain experience.
I had already invested huge money for SAP SD education and now i am feeling helpless because of this news.
Please help me with your experience whether IT services sales experience can be counted as a domain experience for SAP SD Fresher or not?

Don't worry! IT service sales experience can be counted as domain experience for SAP SD career.
After being in SAP for some years (as an end user, key user, SD consultant), the most important things are clear process thinking, perseverance, honest hard work and communication.
If you have the above qualities, then you will succeed in SAP!
SAP SD is the logistics side of sales. In other words, there is a Laptop repair shop. If SAP SD is implemented, it will take care of creating repair order, creating billing document. So it is not about selling but about maintaining those "records" in SD.
The above example is of service. This too is part of SD.
So if someone has experience in sale of service that is relevant domain experience.
Apart from this you have to understand, imagine - sale of products.
In sale of products, there will be one addition step - delivery of product, from the manufacturer to the customer / consumer.
Focus you mind on learning.

ARIS - stands for ARchitectur Integrated Systems.
This is proprietary tool fof IDS Sheer AG,
In layman's words we can say its a tool create Flow charts.
In business we don't say these as flow charts but as EPC chains.
EVENT PROCESS CHAIN
This is a Designing tool of any kind of activity,from 4.6b ( i guess) SAP has Plug in to ARIS tool even.
For eg: If i wanna go and buy Sandwich,eat and come back to home.
its vey simple to say but if you map this in EPC.. there are lot of things come in picture.
steps
1) I get up from desk
2) Walk out of thehouse
3) Start my car
4) drive my car to XX place
5) I buy sandwich
6) Should i eat or carry out
if eat - pay for it
     look for vacant seat
     eat sandwich
      get out towards car
      drive back to home
If Carry out
Pay for it
get out towards car
drive back to home
Eat sandwich...
it still depends on how micro level control you need .
for eg: in the above process we can also include
1) pick up my car key
2) Wear shoes etc etc....
Basic aim of this tool we donot miss any event ,and to have standard predefined process flow.
