  • Unable to import Chapter Markers

Hello - I am trying to import Chapter Markers from FCP to DVDSP. I double-clicked 'm' in the timeline (not in the clips), clicked on Add Chapter Marker; labeled them, then File/Export/ Quicktime Movie, and where it says Markers, chose DVD Studio Pro Markers. I also tried Chapter Markers, just to see if that would work, but neither of them seem to work - I don't see any of my markers in DVD SP. I have done this several times before, and never had a problem, so, not sure what step I might be missing...ok, thanks.

try leaving the <comment> in the box and then typing after that
    i.e. <comment> chapter 1, <comment> chapter, 2 etc.
http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=10857195&#10857195 is where I got this idea because I was having the same problem as all of you.

  • I would like to see the ability to export/import chapter lists

I use Encore CS3.  I use an external mpeg-2 encoder to create my M2Vs.  I usually make 2 M2Vs, one for single layer disks and one for Dual layer disks.
    - so I have 2 M2V files, both the same length but one has a higher bitrate than the other.
In the timeline in Encore, if I delete a video, the chapter points are deleted with it.
All I want is a feature where I can export the Encore chapters as a file, then import or apply the chapter file onto a different timeline
    Thanks in Advance

I forgot about that site.  I remember now about putting something into that site about a year or so ago.

  • How to Import Chapter Names Created in Premiere Pro CS6 to Encore CS6?

I edited a sequence in Prmiere Pro CS6 and then I created and named all my Encore Chapter Markers while still in Ppro. I then opened Encore CS6 and used the Adobe Dynamic Link to import my Premiere Pro CS6 sequence into Encore CS6 and created a new timeline from that sequence. I imported a Menu (which I created in Photoshop) and linked the first chapter to button 1 in my menu and then used Create Chapter Index to bhild all the menus. How do I get the Chapter names to automatically appear in these menus without having to retype each one?

Select a button and look at properties. Check the option "Set Name From Link." You can select multiple buttons and do them at one go.

  • Importing chapter markers from Final Cut Pro

I usually set up my chapter markers and screen shots in FCP.
If I share this to QuickTime or iTunes library, the chapter markers are present and work well.
This was not always the case but since the latest update of FCP it works like a charm.
However if I export it to COMPRESSOR (because it works faster) the markers are lost.
I have successfully set channel markers in COMPRESSOR and that works, but my work flow seems to make more sense to set up the channels in FCP. (this is mostly because I often decide to do an edit change when I think about the marker...)
COMPRESSOR gives me the option to load markers, but I don't know how to get them out of FCP.
    So...
What do I need to do to export markers from FCP so they can be imported to COMPRESSOR.
(before you ask, both FCP and COMPRESSOR are the latest post-Christmas, vastly improved versions.
    Thanks.

Barry, You shouldn't have to do anything. What settings are you compressing to?

  • Import Chapter Markers con FCP to DVDSP

I have a movie with 13 Chapter Markers in FCP 5.0.4
I have imported this to DVDSP 4.0.3 but there are no chapter markers.
I have exported the mvoie as DV PAL using Quicktime.
Quicktime sees all the chapter markers. I can jump to each chapter.
In DVDSP I made a new track and drag-drop the exported DV file to this track.
So far that's fine. I can preview the track. However, there is only one chapter marker at the beginning of the track.
where have all the other markers gone?
I am a complete newbe to DVDSP.
    Thanks for your advise.

    Hi Yoochul !
Thanks, right, I was looking for the 'add chapter marker' in the cmd-alt-M pop-up menu.
btw: I import file from FCP using 'export quicktime movie' and let DVDSP do the encoding. This is because Compressor corrupts my file system unavoidably.
Is there a quality difference if I encode using compressor or DVDSP? I guess I read some months ago that DVDSP is better than compressor anyway?
    many thanks

  • Import chapter list?

Is it possible to import a chapter list into Encore 2? CS3? If it is, how is it done and what format do the chapters be in?
    Thanks

Missing the point, Jeff. Vegas/Sony are problems of their own. I just expect Pro software should enable a power user, not slow things down. Especially with something that is quite easy to program -- at least for me as a software designer.
Within the Adobe world I still have the need to import/ export. Like when I convert an NTSC DVD to PAL. With Encore you lose everything and have to (mostly) manually start all over.
Or when I need template-like behavior for similar projects, i.e. similar buttons, menus, media. Time is money.
Design wise, Encore is the right place to set or finalize chapters and poster frames. Yes, Premier is a good place too, since while editing you are familiar with everything and can easily find or make a good place for chapters. But the final say comes at DVD time. I have many times changed the chapter / poster marks after previewing the DVD or seeing that the buttons look bad.
Finally, pro software like Avid and FCP do a lot of exporting and are indeed designed for being read by other packages. Just like CAD programs. Importing XML or text based lists is very easy to program. It would sure help me in my workload.

  • IDVD 6 not importing chapter markers?

I'm exporting a Quick Time self-contained movie from FCE 4 to iDVD 6 with chapter markers checked. iDVD doesn't recognize markers. What am I doing wrong? Thanks.

    Hi
Just thinking that You might find one idea or two from my list of notes.
    FCE/P to iDVD
    Several things
    • How to go from FCE/P to iDVD
    • Free space on Start-up hard disk
    • Encoding
    • Brand and type of DVDs used
    • Burn speed set
    • iDVD BUG
    • Chapters
*How to go from FCE/P to iDVD I do*
    • Disable Screen and Energy saver
    • IMPORTANT --> FIRST in FinalCut - Mix Down Audio under Sequence Menu / Render Only / Mixdown
    • Export out as a QuickTime .mov file
    • Select with Mark - Chapter Mark
    • Not as Self-Contained (not important but saves time and space)
    • NO QUICKTIME CONVERSION (IMPORTANT)
This QT.mov file I import into iDVD from within iDVD.
*Free space on Start-up hard disk*
I set a minimum of 25GB (for Mac OS and iDVDs temp files)
    *Encoding*
    • I use Pro Quality encoding
*Brand and type of DVDs used*
    • I use Verbatim
    • I use DVD-R
    *Burn speed set*
    • I set down this to x4 (or x1)
    *iDVD BUG*
    • One can not go back to movie-project for any alterations and then go back to
the iDVD project. It will notice and ask You to either Up-date or Cancel. Neither
    of them will work.
Medicine - Start a brand new iDVD project.
    *Use of Chapters*
    • I only use a to z and 0 to 9 in naming them. NO other symbol/letter !
    • NO Chapter-mark at very beginning - iDVD NEEDS TO set this by it stlf
    • No Chapter marks in or within two seconds from a transition
(Way around this last one - Export movie as QT full quality and NO Chapter marks
Import this into a new Movie-project and now You are free to set C-Ms where You want
them except at very beginning - still)
    *Material used to build movie*
    • video - I use streamingDV (or convert all other to this eg .mp4, .avi, .wmv etc)
    • audio - I use .aiff 16-bit 48kHz or from Audio-CD (44.1kHz) - no .mp3 or direct from iTunes
    • photos - I use .jpg - no .bmp etc
Trash iDVD pref file and run Repair Permissions - and have a re-try.
    from post ??
May not be relevant, but I had the same problem with iDVD, where burned DVDs showed a green screen. It was cured by quitting Quicksilver and Quickeys as well as disabling sleep and screensaving

  • CS3 work flow/Word import/Chapter numbering

We routinely produce 200+page documents using MS Word - the format is fairly basic, but each chapter is numbered (e.g., 1. Project Description) and within each chapter, there are usually numbered subheads with descriptive paragraphs (e.g., 1.1 Study Overview, 1.2 Study Characteristics, 1.3 Hazardous Materials). Those are incremented when the chapter increments...if you're in chapter 2, then the subheads become 2.1, 2.2, etc.
The Word document is always sent to me as a single, lengthy, multi-chapter doc. It is ALWAYS subject to change. Formatting it is far easier in InDesign CS3, and with the document-linking feature, if the Word document is changed, then updating is easily accomplished. However, my stumbling block appears to be in the Chapter numbering - InDesign only allows one Chapter number per document. I tried to use Section Numbering, but the Paragraph Style sheet does not allow that (among other things). I hesitate to use the Book feature - there would be a lot of hassle accommodating any and all Word doc changes our professional people make when they revise the content. If I have to use the Book feature, well, OK, but that might mean an even longer time to put these things together. Our people don't really care TOO much what it looks like (I do) as long as it is technically correct, so I have to make sure that it doesn't take longer to format this thing than the way we do it now.
Can someone point me to a white paper or solid tutorial on how this might be accomplished? If there is a good published book on it, please let me know! Any help or advice is greatly appreciated!

    > Formatting it is far easier in InDesign CS3, and with the document-linking feature, if the Word document is changed, then updating is easily accomplished.
I think this would be the major stumbling block. If you turn on the preference (normally off) to "Create Links when Placing Text Files," then when someone updates the Word file and you in ID update the link to it, all your ID editing and text formatting (including application of your autonumbered paragraph styles) gets wiped out.
So ... don't do that. There are many ways to approach this workflow to smooth it out (save ID formatting for last, after breaking the link; or have Word users apply same-named styles to their Word doc; or have them use InCopy instead of Word); but they may require changes that your colleagues won't accept as necessary (as you mentioned...)

  • Importing Chapter Markers from FCP

I create chapter markers in Final Cut Pro and bring the movie into iDVD for mastering. But when I playback the DVD, there are no chapter markers on screen. What should I be doing that I'm not doing?

Final Cut Express & Final Cut Pro: How to export a movie with chapter markers for iDVD
    http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?artnum=42973
I recommend against using anything but "Chapter Markers" upon export as it has been known to cause issues with previous and current versions of iDVD. Since we don't know exactly why this affects some users and not all users, it is best to avoid the issue altogether and just use "Chapter Markers."
If you know that you will be sending your footage to DVD SP, then use DVD Studio Pro Markers upon export.

  • Importing InDesign IDML results in blank chapter

I'm trying to import content into iBooks Author from InDesign. Apple's documentation says to export the InDesign document as an IDML file, then in iBooks Author go to Insert > Insert Chapter From... > InDesign File(IDML). However, when I try this, the imported chapter is blank, containing none of the content from InDesign, only a generic chapter heading. I think I'm following the instructions. I'm using the latest versions of both programs—InDesign CC 2014 and iBooks Author 2.2 running on Yosemite. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

I played with it some more, it turns out that this only happens in portrait view. It shows up with content in landscape, but blank in portrait. My InDesign document is portrait, with the dimensions of an iPad screen. Any idea how to make it import in portrait mode?

  • Still no Chapter Points in Encore

I've made two projects with PPro2 with markers to be used as chapter points for Encore 2. (Both projects have text in the chapter marker box.) The first project's timeline imported into Encore just fine, including the ten chapter markers. For some reason, when importing the second project's timeline into Encore, the chapter markers don't follow. The only difference in my workflow was that the first show was converted to Desktop editing mode by mistake. The project was originally made with PPro 1.5. I opened it in PPro2 before installing the new Matrox Xtools software for PPro2 which lead to Ppro2 changing the editing mode to Desktop.
I've got a good command of both programs and have read the various discussion hear. Have tried several different clips and tests to try and finds some relationship, but have hit a wall.
    Suggestions greatly appreciated.

In PPro2, I'm exporting a timeline to avi, then importing that avi as a timeline into Encore2. Installing Matrox Xtools and changing PPRo2 editing mode from "Desktop" to "Matrox rt.xntsc" is the only system change I've recently made. As mentioned before, I had imported chapter points into Encore2 successfully before installing the Xtools and changing the editing mode.

  • Chapter Scene Markers Missing

I am having trouble importing chapter scenes from Premiere Pro 2. In PP2 I exported timeline as avi and chose the option to export chapters in the compile settings. When opening in Encore 2 the chapters are not there. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for helping a newbie.
    Darren

You need to make sure there is text in the Chapter field of the markers in PPro.
Please note that this is the lounge. And the lounge is for general discussions that are not necessarily on-topic or about Encore.
Problems with exporting from Premiere and importing into Encore should go either into the Premiere Pro 2.0 forum or the main Encore forum.

  • Chapter markers again

the way i see it: apple cut old ropes with fcpx, and the features the crowd demands the most are re-integrated. like xml and multicam, as we saw recently.
now, apple, hear me: I NEED CHAPTER MARKERS, as i told you in feedback to fcpx already.
i can't sell a music-video to customers without chapters for each song.
i bought compressor 4.0.2, as in the apple store it sais, a new feature is that markers are now chapter markers as default. yes, exported markers from compressor, but not the imported from fcpx. money for nothing.
i tried every suggested workflow, no one works perfect. neither in garage band nor in compressor it is as easy to set markers with frame accurancy as it is in final cut. exporting xml and importing in qt or compressor did not work fine, also.
i really began to like fcpx, as it has some cool new features, but all are worthless for me as long as i can't set chapter markers. i have to use final cut studio again and hope that the next update will bring chapter markers back again.

Why can't you set the chapter markers in Compressor?
    Did you see this

P.S. You know you can import chapter markers to Compressor from a tabbed text file list that has timecode numbers?
