To launch SDM tool - using user id other than sapsid adm

Hi,
Currently, when we perform deployment using SDM we login as <sapsid>adm to launch the SDM tools (at the central server instance running under UNIX). However, we would like to restrict the usage of the <sapsid>adm due to concern that this id is powerful and can do a lot of other things.
Is it possible to use another user id (create a new id and grant necessary access), just for the purpose of launching SDM to perform deployment.

From my point of view is better if use SDM from desktop connection I'm do it and it's great I strongly recommend that you try to use in the same way
Steps
Create new folder in your folder
Copy program folder and all the files and folders below to your laptop (I thing that you only need the *.bat files and lib folder but i'm not completly sure)
change bat files with the data of your local machine as an exmple
@set sdm_gui_options=-Dsun.java2d.noddraw=true -Duser.language=en
@call "D:\Newfolder\program\sdm_prep_com.bat"

check all bat's and change server paths with local paths

Not a known problem. And the "already launched" problem points to an issue with Reader.
Please submit some samples with a bug report for Reader to debug.
Here is what the issue looks like (click to zoom) :
On the left side is the PDF file opened with no other instances of Adobe Reader open. On the right side is what the exact same file looks like when opened after another instance of Reader (displaying another PDF file) was already open.
It's as if the font rendering engine was incapable of multi-threading. Like Reader can only render the font properly if the PDF file in question is the only one it's got in RAM.
Worth noting :
Opening a 2nd PDF file with distorted fonts does not affect the first open PDF. That one continues to display normally. Only every subsequent instance of Reader will have this issue.
Files were saved normally via Photoshop CS5, although this issue has been present for at least 2-3 versions if not more (only started saving PDF's around that time - it's quite possible this was ALWAYS an issue).
This is strictly a SCREEN RENDERING ISSUE. The PDF file prints to paper just fine with uncorrupted fonts no matter how it looks on-screen.
As mentioned earlier in the thread, this happens across multiple computers. Whether I create the PDF via Photoshop CS3 in WinXP or via Photoshop CS5 in Windows 7 on a completely different computer... it will have the same issues. Tried it at work, too -- miles away from home. Same issues. Graphic cards are also from different makes, and display the same issue.
This happens to every single font in the document, regardless of how common or obscure a font it is. In this case, it's Helvetica Neue.
Again, because this important : even if the fonts look distorted on-screen, they will print out on paper just fine. This is a screen rendering issue.
Default PDF settings, no layers, vector data non-rasterized.

I've been running iTunes on WinXP for years with few problems. I have all my iTunes files on an external USB drive. I just bought a new PC running Win7, 64-bit.
I connected the external USB drive to the new PC and installed 64-bit iTunes on it. When iTunes started up, I pointed it at the iTunes directory in the external drive, using Edit > Preferences > Advanced > iTunes Media Folder Location. It showed a progress bar that it was updating the iTunes Library. I signed in and authorized the new machine. I have one spare authorization.
Then iTunes put up a message "The item you've requested is not currently available in the Hong Kong Store." I had not requested anything from the HK store at that point, and I have never used any store other than the HK one.
When I click OK, the iTunes Store page remains blank, apart from saying "iTunes Store" in the middle of the page.
I went to "View My Account" and pressed the Reset button to "Reset all warnings for buying and downloading items", but that doesn’t fix this particular warning. I also tried Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Reset Warnings and Rest Cache.
But still, every time I click the “App Store” button in the iTunes Store window, the message appears. If I click the Books, Podcasts or iTunesU buttons, these display normally. So I’m stuck with being unable to purchase apps, other than through my iPad and iPhone.
If I move the external drive back to the XP machine, the same thing happens. If I go to another PC - a notebook running Vista - everything is normal.
Any idea how I can clear that message?

I have tried re-validating my credit card, which apparently fixed it for some.
I have also tried uninstalling, re-downloading and installing again.
Neither of these steps fixed the problem.

1. specify fixed value ranges.
For eg: status type Char 1, can have fixed values stored in the domain level
as '1' - Active '2' - retired '3' - terminated '4'- temporary..etc

2. Conversion routines are attached at domain level

Conversion routine MATN1 (connected function modules are CONVERSION_EXIT_MATN1_INPUT
CONVERSION_EXIT_MATN1_OUTPUT), is attached for domain MATNR
3. Value table are atttached at domain level (if fixed value ranges are not mentioned)
for eg: value table mara is attached for Domain MATNR.

4. And most importantly, domains can be re-used for multiple data elements, in the same table.

MacBook Pro freezes when using any app other than the web browser.

My MacBook freezes when using any app other than the web browser. I can open up Google Chrome and use it all day with no problem, but if I minimize it and try to browse through photos in my picture folder or do anything that involves the Finder, the computer just freezes up and I get the rainbow wheel. If I put in a CD to play it, the computer freezes with the rainbow wheel. Any suggestions? I would like to use the mac for more things than the internet.

This procedure is a diagnostic test. It’s unlikely to solve your problem. Don’t be disappointed when you find that nothing has changed after you complete it.
The purpose of the test is to determine whether the problem is caused by third-party software that loads automatically at startup or login, by a peripheral device, or by corruption of certain system caches.
Disconnect all wired peripherals except those needed for the test, and remove all aftermarket expansion cards. Boot in safe mode and log in to the account with the problem. Note: If FileVault is enabled, or if a firmware password is set, or if the boot volume is a software RAID, you can’t do this. Ask for further instructions.
Safe mode is much slower to boot and run than normal, and some things won’t work at all, including sound output and Wi-Fi on certain iMacs. The next normal boot may also be somewhat slow.
The login screen appears even if you usually log in automatically. You must know your login password in order to log in. If you’ve forgotten the password, you will need to reset it before you begin. Test while in safe mode. Same problem? After testing, reboot as usual (i.e., not in safe mode) and verify that you still have the problem. Post the results of the test.

Smart tunnel used for access other than native application?

i have a question about smart tunnel. my situation is, i need to access to the server on certain IP address that using a port (example : port 5007) that is native for the application. that application is customized application just for my company.
Question is :
1. can i use smart tunnel to access the application for that particular port (ex : port 5007, 8476) ?

I need to use a drive other than C: to store my bookmarks how do I do this?

I use software called Deep Freeze that restores my C: drive to it's original state every time I reboot. I need to have my bookmarks stored on a drive other than C: else when I reboot any changes I've made will be lost. Is there a way to do this?

You can only do that if you create a new profile and locate that new profile on that other drive.

What happens if i use a software other than itunes to transfer music?

Im new to apple and its softwares, tricks..etc.
So the question is i purchased some stuff from itunes i would like to have in phone and i also have loads of music in my pc that were taken from old cds etc...after my research i noticed there is a itune match or someting that can allow you do that with a 25$/year cost which i agree is not much and i might end up doing it but i don't find it right to NOT HAVE FULL control over my stuff...so is there anyway to be able to transfer these old songs into iphone without using itunes without any risk or problem?

Using still frame other than in iMovie

I have a still frame I grabbed from a movie clip. How do I move it and or save it so that I can use it in other applications, i.e., to send as an attachment with email?

Are you using imovie 08? This advice only applies for iMovie 08
If so, position your cursor at the point in your video that you would like to capture. Then right-click and select add still frame to project. You should see this still frame in your project, probably at the end. (You may want to start a new project so you don't clutter up an existing project.
Now right-click on the still frame in the project. Select revel in finder. This will bring up a finder window with the jpeg file highlighted. That is the one you want.

Replying to Events using email app OTHER THAN APPLE MAIL

I don't use Apple Mail except for occasionally checking one dead email account. So when I click "Reply" to an event invite in iCal, I need that Reply to launch the email program I DO use — the one that actually has my valid, relevant email address.
Right now when I click "Reply," Mail launches (without my permission), and everyone invited to the event gets an email from the WRONG email address — one they do not know, do not associate with me, and an address I DO NOT want them to have.
I can't for the life of me figure out how to make iCal launch MY DEFAULT EMAIL PROGRAM for these replies.
Anybody know how to get around this?

Disappointing that Apple continues to inch toward Microsoft territory by giving users fewer and fewer options for working the way they want to work.

A "genius" at an Apple store told me to delete the photos from my documents folder and trash them and I would still be able to keep them in iPhoto. Now I cannot use the photos other than in the iPhoto file. Can this be undone?

How can I retreive deleted iPhotos which were deleted from the documents and trash files? I stupidly did this because a "genius" from Apple Store assured me that I would still have access to the photos.

Check iPhoto's Advanced preference pane to see if it's set to a referenced or managed library;
If it's set to a referenced library you photos are gone.
If that's the case they might be able to be recovered with a file recovery app like SubrosaSoft FileSalvage. It will run in demo mode so you can see if it can recover your photos before having to purchase it. Use the iMac as little as possible till them so as not to overwrite them.
If it's set to a managed library launch iPhoto with the Option+Command keys held down and rebuild the library's databse file.
What verson of iPhoto and system are you running?

Using User Input Rather Than "strStartFolder".

Hi guys!
This script is very simple but it's part of a project I've been working on for some time now. Any VBS guru (or novice for that matter) will be able to tell what it does after a brief scan of the code. Again, like I said, this is a very simple
script.
For newcomers, this script siimply looks for duplicate files in a folder on one or more of your drives.
However, I'm having 2 issues...
First, I need to change the script to where the Wscript engine is used to ask for user input via an InputBox and for that data to be read into a variable which could be "strStartFolder"? If
not, any variable will do, but having to enter in location you wish to search by editing the script manually is not practical.
strStartFolder instead of someone having to edit the code manually each time and enter the path to the folder you wish to scan. In this example, I have last scanned the "Largest Vidz Appz and Musik Folder" on drive H:\. I did this manually
of course...
I have played with this using several methods which all only seemed to work "partially".
The second issue I am having is that you cannot scan just a drive. It MUST be a folder. If you input, for example, "H:\" you will receive an error stating that either permission has been denied or the path cannot be found.
Still being somewhat of a noob myself when it comes to scripting I'm sure there is some simple parameter I can/could have entered to fix this but I tried, "H:\*", H:\*\", H:\*.xxx"\ (.xxx being the extension of course) and other things).
Nothing seems to work but I believe that is because of who the original VBS was coded initially. Again, this is why I come to the greatest resource on the net.
One more thing, when all is said and done the script should ask for a user's input via Wscript so that an InputBox greets them with a message such as, "Please enter the location you wish to scan for duplicates:". And then, depending on their
answer (being of correct syntax, etc, etc) the script runs and outputs a file named "dups.txt" using the Cscript engine.
Please note that I have been running the script as follows to allow for output to a text document. "C:\cscript //nologo FindDuplicates.vbs > duplicates.txt", I would like to avoid having to do this as well if possible but it's ok if not.
Running this script by "double clicking" can be a disaster if you have tons of duplicate files. So asking for user input is the only area where Wscript need be used. But hey, this is why I'm here. For guidance...
This is cake for most of you so I will be interested in seeing the different ways you all come up with resolving this issue.

Patch and administer oracle with different user id other than "oracle" user

Hi Friends,
This is question about oracle on Windows. Can we patch and administer all parts of oracle with differnt user id than one from which we installed?
Example, If we install an oracle from user "oracle" than can we install patches or other admin work including backup and everything with user "a" ,"b"?
Doen't it need to be a same user for pacthing and other critical administration work?
help me understanding this with an example.

Its always good to patch Oracle with the same user from which you installed the user. Oracle sets certain permissions or modifies the DCOM settings when you install the Oracle from a certain user which would not be same for other user. So It is always recommended to use the same user for patching.
