To many brushes listed in Photoshop CC

In my roaming profile I have all the brushes I want to be able to access. If I open the preset manager from the edit menu it shows my brushes in the roaming profile.
If I open the brush menu and then go to preset manager it shows me hundreds of brushes. I have tried to find how to remove them but can't seem to be able to. Can anyone help me?
They are not in the libraries I have looked. It was so easy with older versions you just had them all in one place preset brushes. Now god know where they put them?
Shelagh very confused user.

If you are asking where the brush sets live on your computer, then that depends on your operating system
Windows (Note: You need Hidden files to be visible, from Folder and file options, in order to view this folder)
C:\User\your user name\AppData\Roaming\Adobe\Adobe Photoshop CC 2014\Presets\brushes
Preference filenames and locations in Photoshop CC
I have close to a 100 brush sets (and that's after ruthlessly culling out the sets I think I'll never use) so I have renamed them so that list by subject in alphabetical order.  One day the guys will give us a really nice brush editor - pretty please :-).

  • Trouble Creating Brush Tabs in Photoshop CS6

    Hi,
    I am having problems creating custom brush tabs in Photoshop CS6 using Adobe Configurator 4. I was trying to follow the instructions based off of this screenshot, but cannot seem to link the actions with the panel buttons I am creating.
    Here is the screenshot:
    I saved my brushes into several different files as specified. I am unexperienced however using Actions in photoshop. I tried recording the loading of each brush file into photoshop and saved them as actions. Regarding Adobe Configurator, I am not sure whether I am supposed to create Action buttons, Script buttons, or Script File buttons to link the brushes in photoshop.
    I have tried figuring out on my own but receive error messages such as: Syntax Error, and, this command is currently unavailable.
    Any help would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks!

    Here's an example of a simple panel using the Action buttons in configurator 4.
    While recording the actions in photoshop for use in your panel:
    If you want to load a Brush preset on your list in photoshop, click on the name and then in the next dialog click OK
    (as in the Assorted action)
    (Append adds to the already loaded presets)
    If you want to load a brush preset from your hard drive, use Replace Brushes and then click OK in the next dialog
    (as in the Pen Pressure action)
    In configurator, the action linked to a specific button needs to be named in the Basic Attributes using the action set name and name of the action as they appear in your recorded actions

  • How to get selected values from Select Many Choice List

    Hello All -
    I am using Select Many Choice List and wish to get the selected values in the bean. I have created method binding for valueChangeListener for the choice list, but not sure how to get the selected values.
    I am facing problem in getting values from valueChangeEvent.getNewValue(). For Select One Choice List this returns int, but some list type object for Select Many Choice List.
    When I try to print the value it comes something like:
    ArrayList newVal = new ArrayList(Arrays.asList(valueChangeEvent.getNewValue()));
    System.out.println(newVal);
    [Ljava.lang.Integer;@870ad8
    Could anyone please suggest how to type cast and use the return of valueChangeEvent.getNewValue() to get the selected values.
    Regards -
    Rohit

    Hi Timo -
    Thanks for the suggestion. I could get the values as below:
    public void multiOpUnitValChange(ValueChangeEvent valueChangeEvent) {
    // Add event code here...
    BindingContainer bindings = BindingContext.getCurrent().getCurrentBindingsEntry();
    DCIteratorBinding opUnitIter = (DCIteratorBinding)bindings.get("OperatingUnit2VOIterator");
    Integer[] values = (Integer[])valueChangeEvent.getNewValue();
    for (int i=0; i<values.length; i++){
    Row row = opUnitIter.getRowAtRangeIndex(i);
    System.out.println(row.getAttribute("OpUnitId"));
    Thanks -

    It's not clear from your post, but you do realise
    that if you import a cd as a compilation, it will not
    appear under artists? This is done to save the iPod
    being cluttered up with single artists entries who
    might have only one song listed.
    I wasn't aware of that. It's true that I haven't been using the "compilation" tag for a long time. I've only started using it with iTunes 7 as otherwise with Coverflow I would have one album cover for each artist in a compilation. Before that my compilations weren't tagged as such as that is quite probably why each artist from compilations showed up when browsing by artists.

  • Too many brushes

    I have CS5.1 and just installed a lot of brushes I found on the net.
    Now when I try to load up a brush set it displays all the brush sets on the screen and I cannot get to the ones off the screen(since it doesn't give a scroll bar to move them over).
    I organized the brushes in the brushes directory in photoshop but it seems photoshop completely ignores the folder hierarchy and flattens them. It seems kinda ridiculous that it would display the brush sets this way. Any way to fix it without removing files?
    Searching on the net shows this problem has existed for a while. It's a very simple fix but I suppose adobe likes it the way it is. It wouldn't be hard to add a page left/right button to move the along the brush sets. I'd rather have them simply organized by the directory structure so I can quickly find the brush type I am looking for.

    Where exactly there is no scroll bar? Which steps you take to get to a window without a scroll bar? I haven't experienced that yet.

  • Why don't changes made in camera raw with the adjustment brush carry into photoshop?

    Why don't changes made in camera raw with the adjustment brush carry into photoshop?

    Using the Open button in ACR to get to PS doesn’t create a PSD or a TIF, it just transfers the image in memory.
    As has been asked, already, what are the precise steps of your workflow starting with your painting the adjustment brush strokes in ACR and seeing the image in PS without the strokes, and what exact versions of PS and ACR are you using?
    Use Help / About Photoshop..., and Help / About Plug-ins... / Camera Raw...

  • Get the secret brushes palette in photoshop elements 2.

    In photoshop elements 2 you can have the same brushes palette as in photoshop 7.
    It functions exactly the same with one exception, the brush preview area.
    To see the brush preview you need to use the tool options bar.
    It also works with all the other paint tools. To get the full brushes palette in photoshop
    elements 2, just make an action in photoshop (7-cs4) toggle brushes palette.
    Run this action in photoshop elements 2 and volia a real brushes palette.
    This probably only works in photoshop elements 2.

    Have you already ran the workarounds/solutions mentioned in the link below? try the LicenseRecovery toolkit and see if that helps?

  • Importing keyword list from Photoshop CS1 is possible

    Amongst all this gloom on a more positive note I thought people might be interested to know that I have successfully managed to import my long keywords list from Photoshop CS1 into the keywords hud. It is fiddly and I'm sure there must be a more graceful way of doing it but I got there in the end.
    There are two buttons bottom right of the keyword hud - import and export - for which I have found no documentation in the manual however I tried export and it exported the keyword list as a text document. If you find your Photoshop CS keyword pref file which is by default kept in : user name / library / preferences / Adobe Photoshop CS settings / Keywords.psp, you can open it with text edit. You then have to fiddle around with the formatting which I did by copying it into a word processing app and using find and replace so that I ended up with a tabbed list which followed the same format as the exported aperture text list. I then pasted it into the aperture list and after a bit more fiddling around was then able to use the import button on the hud to bring in my entire list as it appeared in Filebrowser.
    Fingers crossed!
    Best wishes

  • Anyone have an issue where a font shows in the font list in Photoshop/Illustrator but not in Flash?

    Anyone have an issue where a font shows in the font list in Photoshop/Illustrator but not in Flash?
    I'm not 100% sure but i may have had flash open when installing, i then uninstalled the font and then reinstalled the font. I even tried going from an OTF font to a TTF font.
    No luck.
    Do I need to do some sort of font cache clearing?
    -Line
    I'm using Adobe CS6 Flash, Photoshop and Illustrator on MAC OSX

    Yes. It's rare, but some fonts do not play well with Flash. Flash seems to have a more strict method of evaluating a font that can be imported. This is, in my opinion, probably because Flash needs to create a faux version of a font when it is imported. There may be some information that is either missing or not acceptable to Flash in a particular font and so Flash won't allow it to be used - even if you're not going to import that font.

  • How to fix brush lag in Photoshop CC with a Cintiq 13 HD (on apple's Mavericks OS)?

    I bought a Cintiq 13 HD about a month ago and have been using it with Photoshop to do a book cover and to teach concept art at a university.
    Everything with Adobe Photoshop was working fine, as far as I can remember/noticed, until this last week or so.
    All of a sudden there is a significant amount of brush lag—to the point of Photoshop being completely unusable.
    I have spent hours pouring through the web looking for answers, but to no avail.
    In Photoshop, however, there is anywhere from a tiny delay to a full 1 second delay—afterwards the brush *usually* catches back up with me.
    If I try to jot down a dozen small lines quickly, sometimes Photoshop skips brush strokes altogether, or only puts down one brush stroke "space" or stamp, whatever you call it.
    This happens even if I'm using the most basic airbrush with default settings—I'll have a delay, an occasional skipped brush stroke altogether, and an occasional tiny dot where I first started the brush stroke followed by nothing until I lift up the pen and go to the next stroke.
    I also use Corel Painter X3 in my work, and there is no lag whatsoever. I jot down a dozen tiny lines as fast as I can and the Cintiq and Corel keep right up with me.
    I have tried playing with the GPU and OpenGL to no avail. My GPU drivers are up to date (I'm on a mac, so it's automatic). I've tried changing the Performance Preferences to Basic, Normal, and Advanced (being sure to restart Photoshop each time) without any real solution. (I will say that changing the GPU settings down from Advanced seemed to produce a slightly faster brush stroke in general, but not in the sense that I'm talking about in this post. More of just the regular lag kind of thing that's to be expected.)
    I'm on a Mid-2010 Macbook Pro
    2.53 GHz Intel Core i5
    8 GB Ram
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 330M 512 MB graphics card
    Using a SSD drive 512 GB free space
    OS X 10.9.5
    All Adobe products are completely up to date and I've tried reinstalling the Cintiq drivers.
    I'm out of ideas.
    At my university I'll be teaching my class the basics of vehicle design very soon here, and I would prefer to use Photoshop over Painter for this sort of thing, due to its superior non-painting tools. But I can't paint when my brush strokes randomly don't appear on the screen, or lag so much that I can't see what I'm doing if I'm working quickly.
    Thank you for your help.
    Bryan Beus

    First of all, thank you so much for taking the time to try to help out. It
    is much appreciated.
    The two things that first come to mind are: I have many friends in the
    industry who paint solely in Photoshop and do just fine. My computer is
    technically "old," but the specs are still just fine—even the graphics card
    is the exact same one that is in the new Cintiq Companions (the all-in-one
    computer/cintiq machines).
    And, more so, I was painting on it for a few weeks without noticing
    anything. A part of me wonders, did I just not notice it until it became
    dramatically worse?
    I do remember painting fur, which requires making tons of small brush
    strokes over an extended period of time, and I don't remember there being
    any lag.
    By the way, I forgot to mention: I've even tried going into the Performance
    preferences and disabling the graphics card altogether. No luck. Still an
    issue.
    As far as painting at 100%: I do notice an amount of improvement. The one
    brush stamp, or space, whatever you call it, issue only happened on the
    first brush stroke (every time) and then just once otherwise. The lag was
    tremendous—and I compared it to Painter's performance, which had no issues
    whatsoever.
    I am really hoping to be able to rely on Photoshop more and more, as its
    tools for other aspects of image manipulation are far more robust than
    Painter's. And the working compatibility with Adobe InDesign, Flash, and
    Adobe Media Encoder are sooooooo useful for speeding up the workflow.
    Hopefully we can find out what's going wrong.
    I'm truly baffled on this one.

  • Many communication issues between Photoshop CC 2014 and Bridge since update

    Since I upgraded Photoshop to the CC 2014 version, I've had many issues on using Ps and Bridge together.  Here they are:
    1. Mini Bridge is absent
    2. When clicking to "Browse in Bridge" from Photoshop, the window for my Creative Cloud app opens instead with a message asking whether I am sure if I want to update to "this version of Bridge" (image below). I already updated Bridge and re-installed it, but the same problem keeps occurring.
    3. This one is the most frustrating one: the tools menu in Bridge does not show the options for opening images in Photoshop anymore.  This was invaluable when working with Bridge and Photoshop at the same time.
    The thing is that these issues have been going on for a long, long time, and I don't see any messages from Adobe to at least explain the reason for such blunders.  There are many people complaining of the same issues here in this forum, so how come no fixes, no responses from Adobe yet?
    Please let me know if you've found a fix for this.
    Many thanks!

    I do not use the bridge often mostly just use it to edit metadata.  I never remember tools being available in the right click on thumbnails menu list. Tools a bridge menu in its manu bar when all start-up scripts are enabled Photoshop should be in it.. If the start-up scripts are not enable you must enable them and then restart the Bridge for them to be available. My Bridge CC tools menu after being updated for CC 2014 has the same tools menu option Photoshop with 8 items. Are you writing you no longer have a Bridge CC tools menu with Photoshop and the 8 options?  I use windows and though I use Adobe Bridge CC 64 bit version the startup script folder that seems to be used for Adobe Bridge CC 64 bit is "C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge" Program File (x86) don't know why and in there there should be a file "bridge-6.jsx"  I also see a "C:\Program Files\Common Files\Adobe\Startup Scripts CC\Adobe Bridge" with the same file in it however Adobe Bridge CC 64Bit seems to use the Programs Files (x86) path for when I put my startup script for X's Image Processor Pro into the Programs Files path Bridge CC 64bit did not list it as an available startup script. Adobe software is far from being bug free.  I have no idea where startup bridge scripts reside your Mac use finder to make sure there is a  "bridge-6.jsx"  startup script...

  • Not able to set custom shortcut for increase/decrease brush size in Photoshop CC 2014 on Win 8

    I am using Windows 8 and PS CC2014 and the issue is that I can't assign custom shortcut to the dot. I have been using , and . as decreasing and increasing brush size and it has worked well in every photoshop, even cc2014 in win7 but not in win8 it seems. It lets me to change the , and just tells me that it is in use in somewhere else but i can still change it. But I can't do the same with . as it complains it being used by an application although I have cleared that from the original place and left it empty, photoshop still recognizes it if I press it although it would be empty but I can't assign that key to anything else either.
    Small thing but drives me crazy as I had to assign it to another keys and I am using the shortcuts from muscle memory mostly and end up changing the brush when I had an intention to increase the size. I tried to google this but couldn't find anything similar solution.

    I didn't manage to get it to work :c Restart won't do anything and I tried to reset the preferences by deleting manually the file with keyboard shortcuts. I managed to get them to the factory settings but that was about it. Everytime I try to assign "." to somewhere (including to the place where it already is), it gives the red x and says "the shortcut is not valid. It is being used by another application." (not sure what it is in english exactly, I happen to have my PS in finnish unfortunately ). Plugin disabled mode did nothing either.
    I have changed that shortcut many times to different versions earlier and this is first time I see that message or am not being able to change the shortcut. And I installed the photoshop yesterday from fresh and first thing I did was making the shortcuts and it gave the error from the first use.

  • How to remove subject from background using brush tool (Adobe Photoshop CS6)?

    A few months ago I successfully extracted a subject from a background. I used a method I found on a tutorial video. All that I can remember from the method was that the initial steps invovled coloring over my subject with a brush tool. Since then, however, I can no longer find the tutorial video. I am well aware of the existance of the magic wand and may in fact use this technique instead in the future. However, I'd like the opportunity to try out alternatives. Can anyone explain the brush method to me in detail or refer me to a tutorial/thread/etc that can? Other alternatives are also welcome. Many thanks.

    These tasks are tasks for Photoshop or Photoshop Elements, not for Lightroom, which is more an image data base.
