To match the angle of the gradient to the path?
Hello everybody!
I checked a little bit the other posts and I saw one from Steve similar but I think my question is a little different:
If you consider this example on the picture, is it possible that the gradient automatically comes to the same angle of the path?
(instead of searching degree per degree which angle more or less fits..)
I use sometimes the measure tool but u know how it is, it doesnt match really good..
Thanks,
Thomas
You can do it exactly and without guesswork.
Here's one way:
Direct select and copy one long side of the shpe you want to fill with a gradient.
Paste in Front (Cmd+F on a Mac).
Double-click on the Rotate tool (R) and enter 90°.
Make a guide of your path (Cmd+5). This new guide is the direction of your gradient.
With Smart Guides turned on, use the Gradient tool (G) to drag the gradient to fit the width of the shape.
Here's another way:
Rotate your shape until it is vertical. Colour it pink-or-something.
Then fill it with the gradient from a swatch and rotate it back to where it was.
You can also make "steel bars" with a blend between two strokes, a dark thick one behind and a light thin one in front.
But that's another story. :-)

/sbin/ not in the path variable
I just managed to install slim-plus, and after it starting Xfce a few times I got it to work with the WM of my choice.
However, when I wanted to reboot to check if everything was working ok, bash told me that it couldn't find shutdown.
I found out that it's still in the /sbin/ dir, but it seems like the /sbin/ dir is not in the path environment variable anymore (I don't really know if it's called environments variables in Linux, but you get what I mean)
Any thoughts on what might have caused this, and how I get it working again?I have a similar problem in that /sbin is no longer in my path. I'm also using slim.
The problem is that i can't find out where my path is set. I've looked /etc/profile but that path doesn't match mine.
The defaultpath set in my slim.conf seems to match the path I have. Is that where the path is set? -
How to change the angle of a gradient layer without changing anything else?
How to change the angle of a gradient layer without changing anything else?
When I try it myself my whole gradient turns black. To add to the above, you can not just set the angle. If you want to use other existing settings you need to get them from the layer. The code in that other thread shows one way to get them.
But if you do not need the existing values for any other reason you can get the descriptor for the layer, make a duplicate of it with all the settings and just overwrite the ones you want to change.
This is one way to just change the angle while keeping the other existing settings.

I would like to change the colour of bars in a chart without losing the underlying default texture associated with my chosen theme. None of the 3D textured fills offered in "Chart Colors" match the textured fill of the theme. Any suggestions?
Thanks Gary, but no, that does not work. First of all, I can't select each bar individually. When I click on one bar, all three bars are selected.
When I use "inspector > graphic" I have 5 fill options: none, color, gradient, image, tinted image. The default selection for the theme I'm using is image. What I would like to use for my charts is the same image that this theme uses for table headers. It has the same texture as the chart, but a different colour. Using anything but image or tinted image removes the texture from the fill.
I have found I can do one of two things. I can select tinted image from the fill selections in "inspector > graphic" or I can select 2D Image Fills from "inspector > chart > chart colors". The first choice does not allow me to match the table header colour because it only allows me to apply a tint to the existing colour and adjust its opacity. The existing colour has too much influence on the fill, so I can't find an RGB adjustment that will match the table header colour. The image selections from "inspector > chart > chart colors" do not quite match the colour or the texture. Again, I can try to tint the image, but I still can't get it to match and the texture is not the same anyway.
The image I want to use obviously exists in the software as it is an attribute of the theme, but for some reason is inaccessible. The other angle I have tried is to edit the theme, but I can't figure out how to do that either. -
Hi Everyone,
I've scoured the forums, as well as external sites, but not finding a solution.
Tried tech support, their ideas didn't pan out. Would greatly appreciate some guidance.
Every time I try to use VPE, the resulting mesh is fine (the dxf), but the PNGs
do not match the drawn planes at all.
For example, I'll use a file from wikimedia. (all images re-compressed for the forum)
I draw the right wall, make sure it is blue, then pull the floor.
Pull the floor and the left wall.
Pull the back ground (hard to see in the compressed image, but it is there).
Pull the ceiling.
The completed planes. Right wall was drawn, remaining were each
pulled out the of the previous plane. All blue. Entire image is covered.
Importing the VPE into After Effects CC. Note the wonky textures.
Here are the actual textures (original PNGs compressed into JPEG for posting).
This is the background piece, note how the section of the image doesn't align at
all with the plane I drew.
Hope this issue is clear to all. The mesh looks fine to me, just the PNGs are off.
I've successfully used the Vanishing Point filter extensively in previous versions of Photoshop.
I'm currently using Photoshop CC on OSX 10.8.4 running on a 15" PowerBook Retina.
I've tried the following to no avail:
differing JPEGs
drawing the floor first
drawing the first surface counter-clockwise and clockwise : )
ensured all planes are blue
disabled graphics acceleration under prefererences
completed uninstalled Photoshop and reinstalled with clean performance/preference settings (did not import any previous settings).removed the "Adobe Photoshop CC Settings" folder as well.
Tried exporting a DXF, again mesh looks great, textures are wrong.
Ideas are appreciated because right now, I'm stuck : )

After we eliminated Adobe settings, and the software, I started wondering what's outside that could be affecting VPE.
It's the resolution of the screen! I have a MBP Retina.
Using SetResX, I cranked the resolution of my screen from the default retina 1440 x 900 to the hardware's native res of 2880 x 1800.
THIS FIXED IT.
The resulting PNGs from the export perfectly match the planes (DXF Mesh).
So, I'm asserting that there may be a bug in the current release of PS CC where it is not compatible with the default retina resolution on the MacBook Pro. -
Matching the audio to different camera angles (I am a beginner.)
Before I take the video I have in mind, here is a question:
While the person is speaking, I want to take shots of the back of his head, the side of his head, etc, while he is talking. I do not want the viewer to see the movement traveling round his head, though! I want to do it the way you so often see on tv and in movies: two people talking, and the camera is behind the head of the one talking so that one can see with whom he is talking. Then the camera view changes and you are looking straight at the speaker and seeing the back of the head of the person being spoken to. Different angles, but with the audio flowing smoothly.
I see that it is a matter of the audio moving smoothly, whereas the video can be cut anywhere. I see that it's not just a matter of separating audio from video, because when there is audio, it has to match the mouthof the speaker.
But HOW do I get the audio to smoothly progress while I edit out the video clips? I have iMovie '06. Is it an easy thing to just separate the audio from the video and edit out the video? Since I have only one camcorder, a Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11, does this mean that I have to shoot extra non verbal footage?
HOW DO I GET A VARIETY OF CAMERA VIEWS WHILE AT THE SAME TIME COORDINATING THE AUDIO/VOICE?
Thank you.
Lorna in Southern CaliforniaI have thought about this and have decided that since I am at rank beginner stage, the Grasshopper stage, I might be wise to move keep editing to a minimal. I see this as meaning that sometimes as the speaker is speaking, the viewer will see the Sony digital video camera recorder DCR-TRV 11 moving around, going to another spot, rather than eliminating the process of the movement and editing out the movement.
Of course, if the actor is not speaking, then I will feel free to stop recording, move to another angle, and then start the camcorder again.
Technique wise, that is possible, right? It seems to me that this is how most beginners start out. I don't see myself using TWO camcorders at any point. though. I see that as something that more advanced moviemakers do, when the video is more than just a home thing to be shared on a website.
I am beginning to acquire a great fascination for this art and this technique both.

I deactivated Pro on my old machine, downloaded from the store on my new machine and tried to open it. A window popped up that said I had a valid product key, but that it didn't match the software on my machine. The drop down box did not list my product. Don't know what to do next.

Standard Edition (64-bit) on Windows NT 6.1 <X64> (Build 7601: Service Pack 1)Problem Description: The file name recorded in the msdb.dbo.backupset (sans the extension) no longer matches the actual file name written to the backup media which is
in this case a NETAPP NAS storage share. Example:
Mohave_backup_2014_03_14_233001_1158878.bak (from NETAPP NAS filer)
Mohave_backup_2014_03_16_233001_4167237 (from MSDB.dbo.backupset), as you can see, the last 7 digits (chars) of the file name are different, although the date and time are identical. The
file names had previously been matching perfectly. The first occurance of this problem occured on 03/13/2014 at 5:00 AM MST. The error generated by the job was:

Thanks for your reply. Sorry, my bad. I inadvertently copied wrong [name] form the msdb.dbo.backupset. On 3/13 and 3/14, the two file names did not match. In trying to select another example to show you this morning, I found that the names are now matching!
What I was doing was to create dynamic t-sql to retrieve the latest prod backup of the database, and then restore it with move to the development server. This is an ad-hoc job that the developers can run by themselves whenever they require a refresh. Unfortunately,
we only keep 3 days worth of backups for these databases, so the original disk file I was trying to use to restore no longer exists. Researching the original error, one of the error descriptions was that the restore could not find the file requested.
I thought this very strange since I get the file name directly from the backupset table. Further research did indeed show that the file names were different, but unfortunately, I failed to save the details of the file names. Anyway, in looking for a new example
to show you this morning, I have found that the file names are indeed matching exactly again. If this error pops up again, I will be sure to save all details and re-post.
Thanks, regards and best wishes to you and yours, -
I am using Veristand 2014, Scan Engine and EtherCat Custom Device. I have not had this error before, but I was trying to deploy my System Definition File (run) to the Target (cRio 9024 with 6 modules) and it failed. It wouldn't even try to communicate with the target. I get the 'connection refused' error.
I created a new Veristand project
I added the Scan Engine and EtherCat custom device.
I changed the IP address and auto-detected my modules
i noticed tat Veristand didn't find one of my modules that was there earlier. (this week)
So, i went to NiMax to make sure software was installed and even reinstalled Scan Engine and Veristand just to make sure.
Now, it finds the module, but when i go to deploy it getsto the last step of deploying the code to the target, and then it fails.
Any thoughts?

Are you using any of the specialty configurations for the 9401 modules? (ex: counter, PWM, quadrature, etc)
You will probably want to post this on the support page for the Scan Engine/EtherCAT Custom Device: https://decibel.ni.com/content/thread/8671
Custom devices aren't officially supported by NI, so technical questions and issues are handled on the above page.

Hello,
When I try to install the client on the site server itself it gives me this error message and fails the ccmsetup. I only have this on the site server. Clients to other servers and computers are pushed fine. If I check the version of the MP it says 5.00.7958.1000
in ADSI. I removed the MP object in CN=System, CN=System Management. Waited for it to be regenerated automatically by SCCM but the installation doesn't work still.
I tried to install with several methods including directly from ccmsetup.exe in ccmsetup folder, pushing by sccm itself, running from commandline, ...
I run SCCM 2012 R2 on Windows Server 2008 R2 and the database on SQL 2008 on Server 2008 R2

Kind regardsI agree with Idan. You can easily remove the Management Point Site System role and add it again with no adverse effect. This should solve your problem.

Server failed to start: The domain path does not match the running server
Hi,
I've configured Eclipse to run my local weblogic - which actually is working fine.
The server starts as intended and reaches state RUNNING.
As soon as this happens, OEPE tries to validate the server and compares the identified server's configuration to the expected configuration.
This finally results into the error message shown in the subject -- though server is still running.
!MESSAGE Server watcher[Oracle WebLogic Server 11gR1 PatchSet 1 at localhost]:The domain path does not match the running server.
Domain RootDirectory retrieved from the MBean of running server is: N:\Oracle\MIDDLE~1\USER_P~1\domains\MYWEBL~1\
Domain RootDirectory of this server: N:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects\domains\myWeblogicServer
Obviously this seems to be an issue with the length of the directory and file names. The domain's configuration and all its start scripts do not have any 8+3 pathes, like USER_P~1 for user_projects. Nevertheless the MBean of the server returns such a "truncated" path which in turn is invalid for OEPE.
Fix: When setting up the domain in Eclipse, try using that 8+3 representation of the domain's location. Then the comparison will succeed...
My Question: Where do we need to ask for a fix in OEPE? The 8+3 path is still a valid one ...
Best Regards
PhilippI haven't been able to reproduce this and 8+3 representation of the domain's location shouldn't be required.
Can you provide more information:
- is this a network drive?
- what is your OS: XP, Vista, Win7?
- what is the Windows file system type, is it FAT or NTFS
- Can you try install WLS on C:, e.g. C:\Oracle\Middleware\user_projects and see if it still happens? -
Why do google search results reset to match the search bar terms when i use the back button?
Since the update to FF 23, the list of Google search results clears and the on-page search box is reset to match the address bar search box when I hit the back button to re-view the results list after checking a result.
To see this issue for yourself, set your search provider to Google and make sure Instant is on. Type a search term into the search bar and press enter. A google page appears with your results list. Now, change your search terms or conduct a new search directly from the google page (without using the FF search bar). Click on the first result in the search list, then click the back button to return to the search results so you can check a differest result. As FF goes back to the google page, it will reset the on-page search box to match the FF search bar (although you were no longer on this search) and all search results will disappear, replaced by the message "Press enter to search". Pressing enter reconducts your old search, not the one you were on.
This is incredibly maddening since searching for something requires frequent use of the back button to check through the list of search results, and then frequently trying the search again with slightly different terms. Although it sounds like a Google issue, it did not occur on the old firefox and has me wanting to revert. I tried to revert to the old search function via the "keyword search" addon, but this did not fix my issue. Is there a way to force FF to go back to the actual google search page I was just on instead of conducting a new google search from the FF search box when I hit the back button? In Firefox 23 versions and later the keyword.URL pref is no longer supported and it is no longer possible to specify the search engine for the location bar via the keyword.URL pref.<br />
The search engine that is used on the location bar and on the about:home page is the search engine that is selected in the search Bar on the Navigation Toolbar.<br />
Current Firefox versions do not update the about:home home page until you refresh the page (future versions will do this automatically without a refresh) and that is what happens if you use the Back key.
You can install the Keyword Search extension to specify with search engine to use for the location bar and which search engine to use for the about:home page via the Options/Preferences windows of this extension, accessible via the about:addons page.

GRC: Negative ack; PI: End tag 'enviNFe' does not match the start tag 'NFe'
Bom dia SAP Boosters!
<SAP:Error SOAP:mustUnderstand="" xmlns:SAP="http://sap.com/xi/XI/Message/30" xmlns:SOAP="http://schemas.xmlsoap.org/soap/envelope/">
<SAP:Category>XIAdapter</SAP:Category>
<SAP:Code area="BPE_ADAPTER">NEGATIVE_ACKNOWLEDGEMENT</SAP:Code>

<SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage namespace=""></SAP:ApplicationFaultMessage>
<SAP:Stack>Negative acknowledgment triggered by a process</SAP:Stack>
<SAP:Retry>M</SAP:Retry>
</SAP:Error>
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8" ?>

</n0:enviNFe>
</n0:nfeDadosMsg>
</n0:nfeRecepcaoLote2>
Looking for an Easy Way to Match the Rhythm of a Song
I want to find a way to add some additional drum sounds to a song that I have imported into GarageBand from iTunes. Here is what I have tried so far:
1) I tried to match the beat by playing along with the MIDI-keyboard. But I am not very accurate. I thought this might help me find a pattern that I could copy and paste and move around in the MIDI track. But my lack of precision really shows about 50% of the time. It's just not working.
2) I tried to take a portion of the MIDI-beats that I created and align them to the waveform beats I see in the song. I do this by aligning the playhead with the peak of a beat in the song track. Then I drag a beat in the MIDI track to align with the playhead. This works OK for a few seconds. But then, after replicating this pattern (that I want to make into a Loop) for about a minute, the timing is off.
I wish I could take that whole pattern/Loop and stretch or shrink the whole thing out just a little bit to bring it back into alignment after that minute of playback. Then I could duplicate this full minute of re-timed beats a few times and be done with it. But I can't figure out how to do that without exporting the MIDI track and re-importing with degraded sound after "rasterzing" (I'm an image editing kinda guy) the MIDI.
3) Tried various effects to boost just the drum beats but the alteration of the rest of the song is too extreme. I duplicate the original layer and sound, apply the effect, and play both tracks back at once. This helps boost the bass or drums a bit, but I want to add a completely different percussion beat to the overall song, not some modified "schmooshed" sound with low frequency sound amplification.
Any suggestions? As you can tell, I am not an audio expert(!), so please feel free to couch your advice as though you are speaking to an idiot. I have a feeling that figuring out the tempo of the song and measures and such will help out... but I am out of my league here. I quit practicing the piano at about age 10!
I don't mind that it's not a single-push-button miracle or doing a bit of work. I just can't seem to get some sort of accurate rhythm to be generated.
Thanks!Achy Fakey wrote:
Well, thanks for trying. I have attempted this several times and I keep getting the same problem. After about 20 seconds or so, the beat starts to fall off of the chosen tempo markers. I just can't seem to get this to work. I think, even though I am not an audio recording experts, that GB is just too low-end for what I need to do in terms of stretching out the audio I create to match and sync up. It's like needing the control level of AfterEffects and getting stuck with iMovie.
I'll keep taking stabs at it, but I think I'll just have to give up soon.
Thanks again for the suggestions!
As you suspect, there are other applications designed to make easier work of this than Garageband.
As far as I can tell, Christoph's method seems pretty cool unless, I'm guessing, the original song does not follow a rigid metronomic tempo. If the song you're trying to match does not itself fit a grid, then I would think that no matter how much you reference a sample of 4 measures, it's gonna drift.
Christoph: am I right in assuming your method only works for songs that obey a consistent metronome?

How do I adjust the tempo or BPM of a sample to match the song I'm working on?
Hi, the title pretty much says it all.
I am working on a tune in audition CS6, however I am aware that audition is not intended for music production, but I already have the beat, bass line and melody laid down in a multi-track session, now I have download a few audio samples and acapellas that I want to use on my tune but do not know how to go about matching the tempo so that my audio sample fits like a glove over my original tune.
Please help. There are two things you need to know, really. The first is that when you import a clip into multitrack view, by default stretching is off. But if you grab the little triangle at either the top left or top right of a clip, you can stretch it anyway - this turns stretching for the clip on automatically. To get things right initially, you need to position the clip at the correct start point, and stretch or shrink the end point so that it finishes where you want it to. The second thing is that the 'slip' tool is sometimes useful here as well. This leaves your clip window exactly where it is, and lets you slide the clip around within it, so you can, if you want, 'push' the beat with your clip - or of course the complete opposite.
By default, clip stretching is in real time, but the chances are that when you've got it in the right place you'll want to improve the quality. So you right-click on your clip, select the stretching options and set it to render it, rather than run in real-time mode. This takes longer, but sounds miles better.
Once you get used to it, these operations are pretty easy to carry out.
