To merge contacts with iCloud

Hi all. Yesterday I activated iCloud on my iPhone 3 and I lost all my contacts. They disappeared!!! Does anybody know what could have happened? Heeeelp!
Thanks

Try this as a test.  Using a computer's browser, log into icloud.com and then look at the Contacts page.  If gone, then they are truly gone.  If not, then you need to connect your device to that same account.
Settings>icloud, be sure you have signed into the same account.  If different, scroll to bottom of page and tap Delete Account, then log in with the correct ID and password.

  • Can't merge contacts with iCloud

I've updated my iPhone to iOS5 recently and everything's fine except for my contacts.
Once I open one of my contacts, it  closes automatically and won't allow me to call anyone.
I've tried syncing my contacts with iCloud but once i switch to 'ON' and press 'MERGE', it closes again and goes back to the homepage.
I checked the iCloud settings again and  it's still 'OFF', I can't seem to turn it on as it keeps  closing the app.
    Can anyone please help me?

Hi there - it's me again - found a solution which involved a totally clean restore as a new iPhone.
Do NOT USE an existing BACK-UP to restore or YOU'LL END UP WITH THE SAME SYMPTOMS.
When asked to sign on to iCloud ----DECLINE ---- then put your stuff back on piece by piece. After all that's done you can switch Contacts on in iCloud and Roberts your Auntie's husband.
Once all done back it up a few times to overwrite old existing back-ups.
    Best of luck

  • Merged my Contacts with iCloud and lost all new contacts

    Hi all,
Mac OSX Lion.  I made a bunch of new groups on my (desktop computer) contacts book, as I went through the contacts book, I reviewed and updated contact info for nearly a thousand contacts.  I spent literally hours parsing out my client contacts into three client contact groups that I made.
I realized that I had never turned on iCloud syncing in the iCloud preferences.  I turned on the Contacts Syncing option in the iCloud pref and was asked if I want to Merge my local contacts with iCloud.  I said Yes.  After the Merge was finished, the three new groups that I made had vanished, and all of the contacts that I had meticulously updated had gone back to their previous state.
Needless to say, this is really upsetting.  Anyone else seen this problem?  Any magic button I can press to bring back all of my hard work?
For what it is worth, after this fiasco, I decided to see if iCloud was working properly, created a few test contacts on my iPad, desktop computer, and notebook... all three worked perfectly by instantly sharing the info to each other.
The main problem appears to have been the "Merge" when I turned iCloud syncing on after having created a lot of new contact info on my desktop computer.

Your daughter must have signed into your iCloud account, perhaps when she updated her phone.  You can confirm this by going to Settings>iClloud on her phone and seeing if she is using the same iCloud ID.
To fix this you would need to migrate her phone to a separate iCloud account.  To do this, start by saving any photo stream photos that she wishes to keep on your phone to her camera roll by opening her my photo stream album, tapping Select, tapping the photos, tapping the share icon (box with upware pointing arrow), then tapping Save to Camera Roll.
Then go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and provide the password when prompted to turn off Find My iPhone.  This only deletes the account from her phone, not from iCloud; it won't effect your device(s).  When you delete the account you will be asked if you want to keep or delete the iCloud data from her phone.  If she needs to migrate a copy of the data to her new account, choose Keep; otherwise, choose Delete.  Then sign back in with a separate Apple ID to create her new account and if migrating data to the new account, choose Merge when prompted.
Once she is on a separate account, if she migrated a copy of the data to her new account you can go to icloud.com from your computer, sign into her new iCloud account and delete your data from her account.

  • HT3748 since upgrading to Mountain Lion, my Mac Mail no longer works well w/exchange email; so, I have had to switch back to outlook. Now, how can I use outlook for mac's calendar and contacts with icloud?

Since uprgading to Mountain Lion, my mac mail no longer works with my exchange email properly. I finally gave up and moved back to outlook for mac, but now my new issue is using outlook calendar and contacts with icloud; possible?

Sorry but I'm really not to sure what I have. I'm not good with knowing my computer model. All I know is that its a MacBook running with Leopard. I got my computer last year so I suppose its fairly new. Is there a place on my computer where I can check to see what it is (sorry to be so dumb with my own mac)
And everything else works fine. I love Safari. It's just my mail that doesn't work. Here's the message that pop up several times.
"The MobileMe IMAP server “mail.mac.com” rejected the password for user “akcastaldo”
Please re-enter your password, or cancel."
The only problem here is, even though I enter my password it doesn't do anything. It makes that message go away for about 3-5 mins. After that it pops right back up. And I can't even go into my preference and change my email password. So I don't know what to do.

  • How can I synchronize my Outlook for Mac 2011 contacts with iCloud?

Don't works synchronize my outlook for mac 2011 contacts with iCloud. Someone can help me please?

Outlook 2011 for Mac is not compatible with iCloud Contacts & Calendars because Microsoft do not support the industry standard CardDAV and CalDAV protocols that iCloud uses.

  • Get in contact with iCloud support

I can't receive mails on iClound, and haven't been able to it for more than 24 hours. But I can't get in contact with iCloud support. Mobilme had a chat-suppport, but how do you get help from iCloud support?

  • Can I synch Comcast contacts with iCloud contacts?

synch Comcast contacts with iCloud contacts?

You can't sync any other contact sync services with iCloud contacts - it is an independent service.
You may be able to import Comcast contacts (whatever that is) into iCloud though for syncing between your iOS devices and computer. Ask comcast.

  • HT5824 Synchronizing iPhone exchange contacts with iCloud

How can I add exchange contacts on my iPhone to iCloud so that they synchronize with my other devices via iCloud?

If you want to sync your exchange contacts with iCloud, you'll have to copy them to the iCloud account.  If you want to do that, do the following (this assumes that the only non-iCloud account you are syncing contacts with is your exchange account):
Go to Settings>iCloud, turn Contacts to Off, choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (any iCloud contacts will still be in iCloud).
Download the app My Contacts Backup.  (If you have more than 500 contacts to transfer you will need the “Pro” version.  If you aren't sure, start with the free version; it will tell you if you have more than 500 whdn you run it.)  Use the app to back up the remaining contacts on your phone (from your exchange account) as a vCard attachment to an email that you send to yourself.  Confirm that you have received the email.
Go to Settings>iCloud and turn Contacts back to On.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Contacts section) and set this to iCloud.
Go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars…tap your exchange account turn off contacts syncing  (otherwise you will see duplicate contacts on your device).*
Open the My Contacts Backup email and tap the attachment to import the contacts from the exchange account back to your device, and to iCloud.
    * If you want to keep syncing with your exchange account, you'll have to open the contacts app, tap Groups, then tap the uncheck the exchange account so it's no longer in view.  Otherwise you will see duplicates of these contacts on your device.

  • Merging outlook contacts with icloud contacts

    Hi
In outook I have contacts under icloud and different contacts under contacts, hope that makes sense, it is very annoying when emailing and swapping both to find the person I want.
How can I merge both contact lists?

If you have Outlook 2007 or higher, set up iCloud on your PC as explained here: http://www.apple.com/icloud/setup/pc.html and enable syncing for contacts, calendars, etc. with Outlook
If you don't want to sync your PC with iCloud but only want to get your Outlook contacts in iCloud, create a Gmail account, then export your Outlook contacts to Gmail (see http://office.microsoft.com/en-us/outlook-help/export-your-contacts-from-outlook -and-use-them-in-google-gmail-HA104035604.aspx?CTT=1), then export the contacts from Gmail as a vCard (see https://support.google.com/mail/answer/24911?hl=en) and import it to iCloud (see http://support.apple.com/kb/PH3605).

  • TS4147 Do I need to merge Safari and my contacts with icloud?

When settling up Icloud on my iphone 5c the question comes up:  Do you want to merge your Safari and Contacts to iCloud.
Can this be reversed later?  What difference does it make?

    Welcome to the Apple community.
It can only be reversed manually, i.e. By putting everything back one by one. However it's the only way to use iCloud and keep the contacts you already have on your device.

  • I updated to iOS 6.1 I merged it with icloud and all of my contacts dissapeared on my phone.

Checked icloud on my computer - and nothing there. HELP
All of my calendar info & messages are still there.
    Any tips?

You may even have a back up on the computer if you sync the contacts to there.
If you have an iCloud back up and are sure the contacts are on it, you might try the following.
The difficulty in restoring iCloud data from a back up is that the back up is older than the current version on iCloud and anything that is restored gets removed again when an iCloud sync occurs.
Ensure the device is connected to your local network.
Start the restore from iCloud back up.
Allow the devices settings to restore (watch for the confirmation of completion).
As the apps begin to restore pull the connection to your router WAN port (the one that goes to the telephone point).
Wait for the time out confirmation.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn off contact syncing (keep contacts when prompted).
Reconnect the router to the internet and let the restore process complete.
Delete any iCloud contacts from iCloud.com on a computer.
Navigate to settings > iCloud and turn on contact syncing (merge contacts when prompted).
May I suggest that you carry out a back up to iTunes before you try anything, that way should things become even worse, you can at least restore back to where you are now.

  • Overwrite iPhone contacts with iCloud contacts

How do I overwrite the contacts on my iPhone with all of my contacts on iCloud? My husband gave me his iPhone after mine was stolen and it has all of his contacts currently. All of my contacts are successfully stored on iCloud, but I don't want to turn on iCloud -> Contacts sync and have his 1000+ contacts merged from this iPhone up to my 1000+ contacts on iCloud.
I tried to delete all of his contacts from the iPhone but I no longer have the Edit button on my Contacts after upgrading the device to iOS5.
    Any ideas?

Thanks for the tips everyone. I finally figured it out.
I first put the iPhone in airplane mode so it couldn't sync. Then I went into Settings -> iCloud and turned on Contacts, saying I wanted to Merge the contacts. I was then able to start deleting Contacts (the Edit button was now available in my Contacts screen). After deleting a few contacts and deciding that would take way too long I went back into Settings -> iCloud and turned off Contacts. It then asked what I wanted to do with all of the contacts on my iPhone that had been merged with iCloud contacts (though they really hadn't b/c I'd been in Airplane mode all the while). I said I did not want to keep them. I went back out to check my Contacts and they had all been deleted. Success!
With an empty Contact list I turned off Airplane mode, went back into Settings -> iCloud and turned Contacts sync back on and my iCloud contacts started immediately sync'ing down to my newly cleaned out Contact list.

  • HT1386 when does a merge sync with icloud

I have added a second Iphone to my i tunes & merged the contacts from it to contacts on my mac but it won't synchronise with icloud. Previously when I added my original iphone to contacts in outlook (windows XP) all my contacts on outlook were deleted and I ended up with a copy of my empty contact folder from the iphone. What am I doing wrong?

On My Mac is a local account, it does not sync to iCloud, use the iCloud account for all contacts/calendars you wish to be available on your devices.
If you are actually using 10.6.7 and not Lion this will not work at all, iCloud services require Lion (10.7.x) or 3rd party software (Soho Organizer) in order to subscribe on Snow Leopard (10.6.x)

  • IOS 6.1.2 updated- tried to Sync contacts with iCloud- All contacts gone

Help. I just updated the IOS to latest: 6.1.2 then decided to backup contacts on iCloud. When 'Merged' all contacts from phone are gone. Then I went on iCloud and the contact list there was also EMPTY. Strange enough the calendar and Notes backup were all there, but NOT contacts. I tried turning off the iCloud, etc- but can not get my contact list back--- HELP. Is this a clitch with the new IOS??

Thanks for your response, I'm a little confused though...
My iCloud account is set up in settings.  If the iCloud backup doesn't backup my contacts why is there an option to turn contacts on or off in the iCloud account?  And how are they "only synced if you had your icloud account in the mail/contact settings" if icloud doesnt backup contacts?  I don't think I understand that part of your response.
