TO mobileme or not to mobileme

Hello All,
Just wanted to take a guidance from you all which I am sure is a frequently asked question.
I have been really impressed by the Iweb functionality but I wanted to understand once I want to post the content whether it is worth posting this using mobileme?
I wanted to understand the following
* For the amount of money they ask £50 is it not worth shopping around? there a lot of cheaper alternatives out there?
* What are the security implications? Is mobileme inheritantly more secure or is it all pretty much the same? I am putting my young sons web content on there
* If others have chosen not to use mobileme what are the things to look out when choosing a provider?
I am not an Iphone user so that benefit is not there to me.

If you use MobleMe as your hosting service you can password protect your site easily thru iWeb. Commercial hosting services do have password protection available, which may be more secure, but it's not as easily configured. But it can be done.
If you don't use the MMe service the following are the features which will not be supported:
Features Unavailable When Publishing to a Non-Mac Server:
◼ Password protection
◼ Blog and photo comments
◼ Blog search
◼ Blog RSS Subscription
◼ Hit counter
◼ Enhanced slideshows
Also if you choose another hosting service be sure it offers Linux hosting. You don't want Windows hosting.
For a family site I find MobileMe to be more than adequate. It is easy to configure and use.

ICal duplicated on iphone and itunes but not on laptop... (not using Mobileme)

I recently got a new laptop and exported my calendars from my old laptop to new.
I then synced my iphone via itunes which resulted in all calendars being duplicated!
The calendars on my laptop are not duplicated.
The calendars on my itunes sync and iphone are duplicated.
I do not use Mobileme or Entourage.
I can't seem to get them to sync, but I can clear them off the iphone (by replacing info on phone during sync). However they still remain on the itunes sync.
Can anyone help? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thank you.

How can I set Apple Mail to not remember MobileMe password

For security reasons, I'd like to set Apple Mail to prompt me for my MobileMe password when ever I open the program but there is not option for this in the preferences.
I have accomplished this with my other(non-MobileMe) mail accounts by just erasing the passwd from these accounts in the accts. prefs. Apple Mail prompts me to enter those email acct passwds when I open Apple mail BUT when I try this with my MobileMe acct. I will get a prompt to enter my MobileMe password but I also get this error:
"You entered an invalid MobileMe member name or password. Verify your MobileMe member name and password in MobileMe System Preferences."
and I lose my MobileMe passwd in the MobileMe Acct settings in System Prefs.
Anyone have a solution for Apple Mail to prompt me for MobileMe password

Contacts don't sync on iPod Touch (not using mobileme)

They used to sync, now they don't. Since 10.5.5? So the contacts are on the ipod, but changes are not synced. I do not have mobileme. Just syncing via usb.

Just to update... The issue was one corrupt addressbook card. After exporting all contacts, I imported half, then half again, etc. until the sync stopped working. I found one troublesome card, which I retyped. Now all is well.

Read the system requirements for iCloud. It is not compatible with Snow Leopard which your system profile confirms you have.

I got a chance to look at it on a PC. Totally hosed up. It loads incorrectly then parts of it go blank.
I have a site that is based very much on one of the built-in templates and it works fine on the same PC. It contains only text boxes, image placeholders, and images with "picture frame" borders. Nothing fancy, no overlays, no extra code or anything. I haven't looked much at the other templates so I don't know if yours is mostly a template or how much you may have modified one or what tricks you may have done to get the look you wanted. Whatever it is, IE does not like it. Unfortunately, you can't really ignore them as was suggested; they make up a large part of your audience.

So you are saying it works ok as long as you avoid certain pages such as this Forum. That makes me wonder if it could be malware that is blocking access to assistance.Run malwarescans with multipe and up-to-date tools.

Why is there not a MobileMe icon in System Preferences on my Dome?

My MacBook Pro laptop has the MobileMe icon in system preferences but the Dome does not. Both hosts contain the latest software. Will this prevent the two hosts from syncing?

You might also want to clarify what you mean by "Dome" - probably means something to you, but nobody else!

Mobileme does not upload final version of my imovie

I am publishing my imovie project in my Mobileme gallery and for some reason, Mobileme does not use the version that I see in my project area (the final version). Any idea how I can fix this? I only have one version of my project so I am not sure what is happening...

What I notice is that the version of the movie on the mobileme site does not incorporate some of the very last changes I made to the film-re organizing the text in various titles.

Mobileme will not send iCal to computer

My iPhone works great with Mobileme, and iCal on my computer will send info to MobileMe, but I can not get Mobileme changes to my calendar to go to my computer iCal. I tried reseting sync history but it didn't help. I even tried to reset sync data from mobile me to my computer, but iCal did not get the data from Mobileme.
Help!

Thanks for some input, I though I was alone out here. I did get some relief by deleteing calendar items older than 60 days; some items now come through to my MacBook iCal program from MobileMe, but not all of them??? My iCal file was over 5 mb, and is now just over 1mb - perhaps the size of iCal is part of the problem. I sure wish they would solve this problem because everything else is going great.

Sync Notes to MobileME

Hi, I am unable to sync my iPod Touch notes to MobileMe. The article: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4191, provides instructions. However, in <settings> I never see the option to sync the notes at all; like it's not an option.
The model number is MC086LL on the iPod Touch which I just bought this past August 2010, so this unit better not be a 2G or I have something to say to Apple

"Not a MobileMe Account..."

If I send a message to my @me.com address, it successfully appears on my Mac and on my iPad. However, on my iPod when I try to set up the @me.com account, it will not allow me. The error is "Not a MobileMe Account. This account has already been migrated to iCloud." Well, if I try selecting Mail to ON in iCloud on the iPod it requests that I set up a @me.com email address. But I already have one that seems to work fine everywhere else. Any clues?

If you migrated your MobileMe account to iCloud, on your phone you should be able go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Add Account>iCloud and enter the Apple ID associated with your iCloud account. On your desktop computer, you can configure your email client to get your @me.com email by following this guide: http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4864.

Access to account "MobileMe" is not permitted.

Can anyone help me solve this annoying situation? A few days ago, I attempted to sync my iCal with MobileMe. Now when I have iCal open on my desktop - I keep getting a pop-up messages that says:
Access to account “MobileMe” is not permitted.
The server responded:
“HTTP/1.1 403 Forbidden”
to operation CalDAVAccountRefreshQueueableOperation.
I have the option to "ignore" or "go offline". I've tried clicking both options - but the pop-up repeatedly comes up after a few seconds. I can get on MobileMe without a problem - I just can't figure out why I keep getting this message and/or what to do about it.

Got to Ical, preferences, accounts. If you have a Mobile Me CalDav account listed, delete it. This is the source of the error message. Deleting this account will not interfere with mobile me syncing. (At least it didn't interfere with mine and the error message is now gone. Good luck.

One method you can use, along with optimizing your website for increased loading efficiency in browsers, is to publsh to a folder on your hard drive and use Web Site Maestro to optimize and upload only the new or modified files with its Smart Handling feature.
If you publish to a folder you can use the synchronizing feature of Cyberduck, help/en/howto/sync – Cyberduck, to upload only those new or changed files.

If you contact your network provider they may be able to lock it's IEMI number (stop the handset being used by anyone).
Most law enforcement don't want to, or have time to track phones.
So you may have no way to get it back.
