To much files in archive of file adapter

Dear all,
on a day in november the RWB and the sxmb_moni show about 150 messages that
have been processed by a sender file adapter.
On the file system we have two files (all in all 152) more in our archive for this day. Neither the day
before nor the day after have a different amount of messages so that the two message
could not be a problem of late processing (for example over midnight).
I also check that no empty files where in archive.
My question: What kind of problem could appear that a message get processed through file adapter and save
to archive folder but not getting processed by adapter engine or integration engine?
Thanks
Chris

Hi,
My question: What kind of problem could appear that a message get processed through file adapter and save
to archive folder but not getting processed by adapter engine or integration engine?
There can be few situations when this can happen.
For example - say you are sending out a proxy from PI to R3 / BW system. Your sender file channel will read and archive the file, but when the PI tries to generate the proxy, it encounters an error - "User is not authorized to process messages" ... Means, the id that PI is using to send and process the proxy in R3 is not having proper authorization.
But once you have fixed this problem, you can re-start the message from MONI in PI.
Similarly, there can be other cases when this situation can arise.
So, for those 2 extra archive files, you might be interested in checking the logs in MONI / RWB if any message went into error.

    Any clue is helpful
Thanks in advance for your help.

Basically you can't skip SCN since it will result in a data integrity issues (say you had skipped some inserts and later there will be some updates to a not replicated data).
Streams maintain their own checkpoint tables with transaction related stuff. So there is no way you can jump over a range of SCN's without recreating capture.
The only thing you can try - temporary give capture process a rule without any objects. But it will need to mine through the redo anyway.

  • Sender File Adapter: Adapter Module to archive incoming file?

    Dear experts,
I have ZIP files coming from an external system which a File Sender adapter picks up from the PI file system. I already added the PayLoadZipBean Module to unzip the file in order to be able to map the payload. It works fine.
Now in the tab "Processing" --> "Processing Mode" I have the option to choose "Archive" and give a path. That way I can archive them also on the PI file system.
But how could I choose an FTP location here? Can I or would I have to write an adapter module?
In case for an adapter module how do I access the incoming ZIP file? Any ideas?
Thank you for any help and best regards,
    Peter

    Hi Peter,
I'm afraid you are not fully right about the archiving. Choosing Processing Mode = Archive leads to the file being moved to a different directory once it is processed. According to SAP Help:
    Processing Mode
    ○       Archive
Files that have been successfully processed are moved to an archive directory.
    ■       To add a time stamp to a file name, select the Add Time Stamp indicator.
The time stamp has the format yyyMMdd-hhMMss-SSS. The time stamp ensures that the archived files are not overwritten and it enables you to sort them according to the time that they were received.
    ■       Under Archive Directory, enter the name of the archive directory.
    ■       If you want to archive the files on the FTP server, set the Archive Files on FTP Server indicator. If you do not set the indicator, the files are archived in the Adapter Engine file system.

  • How do I setup RMAN not to delete archive log files on the source database so GoldenGate can process DDL/DML changes?

I want to setup RMAN not to delete any archive log files that will be used by GoldenGate.   Once GoldenGate is completed with the archive log file, the archive log file can be backup and deleted by RMAN.   It's my understanding that I can issue the following command "REGISTER EXTRACT <ext_name>, LOGRETENTION" to enable to functionally.   Is this the only thing I need to do to execute to enable this functionally?

    Hello,
Yes this is the rigth way  using clasic capture.
Using the command : REGISTER EXTRACT Extract_name LOGRETENTION.
Create a Oracle Streams Group Capture (Artificial)  that prevent RMAN archive deletion if these are pending to process for Golden Gate capture process.
You can see this integration doing a SELECT * FROM DBA_CAPTURE; after execute the register command.
Then, when RMAN try to delete a archive file pending to process for GG this warning appear AT RMAN logs:
    Error:     RMAN 8317 (RMAN-08317 RMAN-8317)
Text:     WARNING: archived log not deleted, needed for standby or upstream capture process.
Then , this is a good manageability feature. I think is a 11.1 GG new feature.
Tip. To avoid RMAN backup multiples times a archive pending to process, there is a option called BACKUP archivelog not backed 1 times.
If you remove a Capture process that is registered with the database you need to use this comand to remove the streams capture group:
    unREGISTER EXTRACT extract_name LOGRETENTION;
Then if you query dba_capture, the artificial Streams group is deleted.
    I hope help.

  • Archiving TXT files in Sender File Adapter--Unformatted Way

    Hello,
I am Archiving TXT files thru Sender file adapter, files are getting archived to specified directory. No issues in that.,
When i open the archived files, those are not in the correct format way that i placed before file pickup.
Header & lines got messed up side by side.
    Regards

    Hi,
If the file that it being archived is not transformed, it should exactly be the same as the original file.
Please make sure that you are not transforming the archive file by any means(unix script, mapping logics etc).
As suggested above, it is advisable to open the file in the editors like textpad, ultraedit etc. The difference in the alignment could be because of the notepad editor.
Try to open the original and archived files in any of those(textpad, ultraedit etc) editors and check.
Please let us know if you are still able to find the difference in the alignment.

  • Strange Problem in File Archiving - Sender FTP Adapter

    Hi,
The scenario is file to IDOc. XI has to read the input file from client FTP server and archive it to XI local file server.
File is archived properly without FCC (for xml files). But with FCC, the sender FTP adapter is archiving empty files (0 kb files) not the original file with data.
I've checked SXMB_MONI, even there I can see the file data and the IDoc is getting posted with proper data. But, the archived file is empty. Not sure about the problem.
    Please suggest. Thanks in advance.
    Regards,
    Joe.

    Hi,
I've already tried archiving the file to the FTP server itself, it's working fine (even with FCC). But, when I try to archive it to the XI server (read from FTP and archive at XI server), it's writing empty file to the XI archive directory. I'm using PI 7.0 SP 14. My sender FTP adapter dtls follow
    Data Connection: Passive
    Timeout Secs: 500
    Connect Mode: Permanently
Transfer Mode: text and binary tried both
File type: text and binary tried both..
    Looking out for a solution.
    Thanks,

    Hi All,
I am facing some problem while archiving the faulty files using Sender File adapter.
I have configured the option in the File Sender Channel to archive the files to some
other location. I have configured some custom modules inorder to perform conversion.
My file adapter is not archiving the faulty files. Please help me in this regard asap.
    Best Regards,

I have checked with all the authorization issues. It is still no archiving the faulty file.
Can you please explain the mechanism behind this concept?
How File adapter will decide that it is faulty? On what basis?
How Modules play a role here?

  • Archiving faulty Source file not working in Sender Adapter FCC

    Hi Experts,
I have enabled "Archiving Faulty Source File" in Sender Adapter FCC and pen down the directory path accordingly.
Likewise I also enable the processed mode as "archive" and give it the direcotory path.
However when there is a error flagged in sxmb_moni for this interface, I unable to see any file created in the error folder but I can see a file with timestamp being created in the archive folder.
I have checked the access right to the directory, so this is not an issue. I ran through the forum on this subject and come across the help.sap note on the following
" To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, set the indicator.
A permanent error occurs either during the conversion of the file content, or in a module in the module processor.
More information: MessageTransformBean, Migrating Dispatcher Classes
    ○       Specify the Directory for Error Archiving.
    ○       To add a time stamp to the archived file, select Add Time Stamp. "
What is the definition as "permanent error". The error I got in sxmb_moni is a mapping conversion error, so it should be archive this to the error folder, right ?
Anyone have any such setting enabled and working ?
    Regards
    FNG

The error I got in sxmb_moni is a mapping conversion error, so it should be archive this to the error folder, right ?
No, it is not the case. As mentioned on the SAP Help site, for the faulty file to be archived, the error has to occur in content conversion, or in module processor.
If the error you are getting is in MONI, then it means syntactically the file is correct and hence adapter engine has picked up and sent to integration engine (SXMB_MONI).

  • File adapter - Archive issue with adapter module

    Hi All,
I have 2 issues here. We are currently using PI 7.11 EHp1 SP02.
    1. Arhival with "add time stamp" wont work. It just gives us an error message saying simpledate format exception.
I have gone through the OSS note 1265534 and thought this will resolve the issue. But our BASIS team believes this note is only applicable for PI 7.1 SP01. Can you one using PI 7.11 SP02 comment on this?
Note: Archive option with out add time stamp works fine.
    2. When I use adapter module in my sender file configuration, the archive option itself does not work. Read the official SAP help which says "To archive source files where a permanent error occurred during processing, set the indicator.
A permanent error occurs either during the conversion of the file content, or in a module in the module processor."
So the question here is, how do we make the error permanent? The only way to throw error from adapter module is using the ModuleException. It has 4  different constructors. I have used both
ModuleException me = new ModuleException ("My error Msg"); and
    Module Exception me1 = new ModuleException ("Error String", new Throwable("My error Msg");
In both the cases, the archival wont happen.
    Any ideas welcome.
    Thanks
    Jai

  • Sender FTP Adapter - Archive faulty files not working

    Hello,
We are on SAP PI 7.11 SP 06
We have a scenario where we are reading CSV files from a FTP location.
File Sender Adapter is polling the FTP location for CSV files, if there
is any error during FCC we need to move the faulty file under a
    particular directory on FTP server.
Archive faulty files tick is click under the communication channel and
also the required directory is specified, but the functionality is not
    working.
If there is a faulty file it is just adding a rejected prefix to the
file and keeping the file in the polling directory. It is not moving
the file in the rejected directory specified in the communication
    channel.
    Thanks & Regards,
    Rahul Nawale

Are you trying to archive the file on the same FTP server or a different FTP server? Archiving the faulty file on the FTP server might not have expected results. And if you are trying to archive the file on a separate FTP server, it wouldn't probably be achieved using the simple file adapter functionalities.
The best way would be to archive the faulty files to an NFS location on your PI server (this will certainly work, even if it's FTP mode) and then use a separate script or PI interface (file tunneling) to move these files from PI server File System to FTP archive location.

  • Garbage name of the Archive File while using the FTP adapter

    Hello All
I am using Oralcle FTP adapter to poll a file ,after polling I am deleting the file from the current directory and
    archiving it into another directory.
Problem is after archiving the file into the another dirctory name of the is fine changed as follows :
    d2wXEgGZrfypNsGa15uzOA==_20081015_082233_0015
I want same name for the archived file as orginal file with timestamp
Please help to solve this problem.
    Thanks
    Satendra Pare

You cannot change the file name in the save dialog, it always uses the originally file name of the form.
But you can use scripting to save a form under another name.

  • Archiving files in the Receiver File Adapter

    Hi All,
I am trying to archive the file created in the Receiver File adapter. Reading from the link below,
    http://help.sap.com/saphelp_nw04/helpdata/en/bc/bb79d6061007419a081e58cbeaaf28/content.htm
I gave the command cp %F <target dir> in the Command Line of "Run Operating System Command After Message Processing". As well as I tried cmd.exe copy %f <target file>
But it does not work. Can anyone please help me out?
    Thanks
    Shivanjali

    Hi Aamir,
For my case its not feasible to make a bat file...
I want to write a direct OS command in adapter only.
Do you know what is the basic difference for running OS command before processing and after processing.
In my opinion if i use a OS command after file processing then it ll take a file name with timestamp so there may be a problem...

  • Archive processed files at receiver file adapter

    Hi Experts,
I need to archive(copy) processed messages from the target folder to another folder.
I tried using the Run OS Command after processing and not sure with the exact command.
Can anyone please provide the exact command (syntax) for copying file from the target file folder to another folder.
Do we need any authorization from BASIS team to perform this command in run OS Commandline please.
Note: the original file should not be deleted.
    Thanks in advance!
    Regards,
    Mahakrishnan T.

    hi Mahakrishnan Thangam,
I used the OS command feature  where FTP is not used and it worked in the way I already posted. When it comes to FTP in receiver file adapter you need a batch file and a script both on PI server. The script will function as follows
    1. Login to FTP server.
    2. change to target folder you specified in target directory in cc.
      command: cd foldername
3.Read the file created by receiver file adapter in remote FTP location. File will be copied to local directory of PI server.
        command:  get filename
    4. Now again change remote directory to archive directory.
    5. Copy the file back to FTP server again from local directory to archive directory you want to copy to.
Now from batch file call this script.
Would suggest to read these links carefully
    http://wiki.sdn.sap.com/wiki/display/XI/SAPXIFileAdapterOSCommandLine+Feature
    http://www.cs.colostate.edu/helpdocs/ftp.html
Alter algorithms to meet your requirement.
    Hope this solves your problem.
