To: on incoming mail displays a contact and not myself

"To" on incoming and "out" on outgoing mail displays a name of one of my contacts and not me. I deleted the account from the iphone, checked my settings on dotmac and added the account back to the iphone and it still displays the same contact. Anyone have an idea what is going on here?

Your email address was added to the contact that keeps showing up (this happened to me when I added a contact's information from an email through mails automatic feature). Go to that contact, you'll probably see your email address there, and just delete or change it.

Btinternet being your internet service provider? If I'm correct, have you followed their directions:

    Hi,
the settings are gone, i guess. But even worse, I cannot get the iPad2 to play Full HD thru the Apple digital AV adaptor using apps that support  (and advertise this), like AVPlayer HD. This definiteley used to work before one of the last iOS upgrades. (I am now at 5.1.1).

  • I lost my Contacts and Notes

I wanted to switch my e-mail account on my iPhone 5 so I deleted my current account and added the new mail account. The account I deleted from my phone is the same as my iTunes /iCloud account, and it appears that is how I deleted my phone contacts. I have confirmed my contacts and notes are still tied to my iTunes / iCloud account ID. How can I restore my contacts and notes to my phone from my iTunes /iCloud account?  I think if I synch my phone with my computer it will delete my information on my computer.

    Hey Pros4ever!
If you have simply deleted the iCloud account from your phone, then you will want to sign into your iCloud account again by following the instructions below:
    iCloud: iCloud account
    http://support.apple.com/kb/PH2583
On your iOS device, go to Settings > iCloud.

  • Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!  SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.

The issue:  Outlook to iPhone sync failure – Sync suddenly stopped working for calendar events but continued for contacts and notes.   Finally Fixed!!!
SUPPORT TEAM – PLEASE SEE THIS – Complete explanation of cause and correction steps.
The cause:  It is now clear what caused this problem.  For years I had several “all-day” events in my Outlook calendar (birthdays, anniversaries, etc.).  In May 2012 I decided to make some of them one hour  events so I could add alerts to remind me of the event.  I did this by dragging them in Outlook to the time I wanted and expanding them to the time slot desired and then adding the alarm.
The symptom:  Syncing stopped working for the calendar but continued working for contacts and notes.  I didn’t realize sync was failing until months later when I missed two very important phone calls, so when I noticed it the cause was not obvious.
The failed attempts:  I’m head of a software firm and my calendar sync is a crucial to my business life so I took this on with a vengeance.  From a quick look at events in Outlook and the iPhone I could see that the problem started in May 2012.  Events before May were in both Outlook and the iPhone but events after May were only one or the other.  Unfortunately I had changed several other things at the same time relating to other events so again the cause was not obvious.  MANY calls with AppleCare proved them incompetent so my internal IT guys assisted trying many things.  We tried a huge number of calendar changes and several versions of iTunes, iPhone OS and Office as well as both iPhone 4 and 5, all without success.
The fix:  After 18 months of frustration, MANY  hundreds of $ expense and MANY hours of wasted time I saw a blog that had a calendar sync  problem and it indicated all day events were related.  I changed the display of the Outlook calendar to the list view, added columns so I could see “all day” event check marks as well as times of events,  sorted on the “all day” event column to move them to the top, and for all events that were “all day” events AND had a start and end time, I removed recurrence and then added the annual recurrence back…
After I fixed all events that had BOTH “all day” set and had a start/end time, I tried another sync.  It synced for the first time in 18 months!
Problem occurred May 2012 – fixed Nov 2013

Hi, to remove dummy '_ModGrp' entries, rather than crashing the 'Suppr' key on your keyboard, you can use this basic VBA macro (launched for instance from Excel).
It will recursively remove all '_ModGrp...' folders
    Sub RemoveFolders_Click()
        Dim oOutlook As Outlook.Application
        Set oOutlook = New Outlook.Application
        Set objNameSpace = oOutlook.GetNamespace("MAPI")
        Call CleanFolders(objNameSpace.Folders)
    End Sub
    Sub CleanFolders(objFolders As Outlook.Folders)
        For i = objFolders.Count To 1 Step -1
            If Left(objFolders(i).Name, 7) = "_ModGrp" Then
                objFolders.Remove( i )
            Else
If Not objFolders(i).Folders Is Nothing Then
                    Call CleanFolders(objFolders(i).Folders)
                End If
            End If
        Next i
    End Sub

I am running Windows 8. Although my contacts and notes from my Ipod touch  show up on icloud my calendar entries do not show up even though they do show up in my Google calendar and my windows phone calendar. Any suggestions not already covered in trouble shooting articles?

As I mentioned earlier, you have to decide which calendar you want to use.  You can either use Google or iCloud, but not both.
If you want to use your iCloud calendar, go to Settings>Mail,Contacts,Calendars>Default Account (in the Calendar section) and set this to your iCloud calendar.  After doing so, all new events you add to your calendar will be added by default to your iCloud calendar, and as a result, will appear on icloud.com and your computer (if it is syncing calendars with your iCloud account).
If, on the other hand, you want to use your Google calendar (as it sounds like you are doing with your iPod), simply add the same Google calendar to your phone and your computer.

  • New iPod lost all contacts and notes

I got a new iPod which iTunes recognized without a problem except I lost all my contacts and notes when I switched to the new iPod. How do I restore them? I did not have them in my mail program because I only used webmail. I need to put all the contacts from the old iPod backup onto my new iPod. Anyone know how to do this?
    Thanks!

You could try restoring from the backup of your old ipod:

Ipod touch is designed to be synced with a compatible program on your computer. If you are not doing this, then you are asking for trouble at some point.

  • I've lost all of my contacts and notes on my Iphone 5 and Ipad2

I couldn't find more my contacts and notes.
Something occurred on to my Cloud...
It doesn't accept more my old ID and password...
I have create another account, but it is blank obviously...
    Now I'm next to desperation...

When they were not on iCloud - I found them in my EMAIL folders of all places!!! Check your emails (any emails that you may have used) and see if you can find a folder called NOTES.  I couldn't believe my notes were scattered between three different e-mail accounts.  If you go to SETTINGS, then Mail, contacts and calenders---check which email addresses are listed, and if any are turned ON, turn them off, then your notes won't be synced to your e-mails and will instead will go to ICloud if you have Icloud set up.  Check it out, worked for me.  Good luck!

  • How can I remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes?

I am using iCloud to sync my contact and notes. It's pretty good right now since it can maintain a signle copy of each without duplicate entries.
However, the outstanding issue is that I want to remove the entire group "On My iPhone" under contact and notes as a lot of duplicates inside there.
How can I do that? Or de-duplicateing the entries there is also fine.  Thanks.

I found a solution for this by using iCloud and iTunes. It is applicable to Mac users.
    For Contacts
    1. Make a source copy of contacts without any duplication in iCloud contact.
    2. Remove any groups in Address Book in your Mac, so that the number of contacts in iCloud is equal to that in All Contacts in Address Book.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync Address Book Contact" and then select "All contact"
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
Your iOS device will be replaced with the "Contacts" from Address Book with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero contacts records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync Address Book Contact" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync contacts to your iOS device. Click "Remove contacts" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will get a "All on My iPhone" group on your iOS device with zero contacts, one All Contacts showing all contacts records, and the other is the "All iCloud" group containing the source copy from iCloud.
    For Notes
    1. Make sure you have a me.com account enabled in your iCloud for Mail & Notes sync
    2. Using Mail, you can move and de-duplicate the notes and make a final copy in the Notes under iCloud. Clear all notes records under other sources. e.g. On My Mac, Gmail, etc.
    3. Launch iTunes. Connect your iOS device. Go to Summary tab. Mark "Back up to iCloud" button
    4. Go to Info tab, Click "Sync notes" under Other section
    5. Check "Contacts" under "Replace information on this iPhone" at the bottom.
    6. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
Your iOS device will be replaced with the "notes" from Mac with "On My Mac" group, which contains zero notes records.
    7. Uncheck "Sync notes" again. A dialog box appears, stating that iTunes will no longer sync notes to your iOS device. Click "Remove notes" button in the dialog box.
    8. Click "Apply" button at the bottom of the iTunes.
    9. After sync, you will no longer get any accounts in Notes. The only copy of Notes is from iCloud.

Ok Apple users...Is there a way to delete e-mails on my Mac and not have to delete the same e-mails on my iPhone, and iPad...and vise-versa. I have the Cloud, and thought that everything would sync all of the time. If you know of a setting I need to adjust, please let me know.

Are you referring to @mac.com, @me.com or @icloud.com emails? Or some other email providers emails?
If the former, it should do that automatically. If the latter, no. iCloud does not (nor is it supposed to) sync non-Apple provided emails.

  • Can I share contacts and notes between two iCloud accounts without sending every contact/note?

My wife and I have been sharing my iCloud account which is very convenient because we automatically get the same calendar, contacts and notes on our devices.  If I were to put her on a separate iCloud account, can we automatically share our contacts and notes without having to send every single one every time a change is made?  I understand that the calendars can be shared fairly easily with family sharing but the others may be more problematic.

    David,
Thanks for the reply.  That's how I set it up originally.  Although the new iOS 7 update lost some functionality.  I found the following on the TUAW website.  The Safari Bookmarks and Find My Phone options have been removed from the secondary iCloud accounts options.  This is the problem.  Everything worked great before we updated.  I guess "new way" consolidates the iCloud accounts better with Maverick?  Now I will have extra documents on my phone that I don't need.  We will both have to share the same iCloud storage and backup space too.  Have to try it out and see how it works. Thanks.

  • Multiple copies of email accounts, contacts and notes after syc.

Can anyone suggest why after a routine sync between iTunes on my PC and my iPhone I now have multiple copies of my email accounts showing in iTunes and multiple copies of my contacts and notes on my phone?
I have no iCloud account. I do not use iCloud. I have not changed any settings for the sync, which has been fine up until now.
What I am left with is four copies of each email account on my iTunes and my iPhone, which I cannot seem to change. Outlook has only one copy of each email account. Outlook also only has one copy of each contact and one of each note but my iPhone now has four copies of each contact and four of each note.
Any ideas what is going on and how I get back to normal please! Thanks.

Tried deleting the orange account and adding it back in, no difference unfortunately.
