To People Who Migrated from N95 8GB to N96; Are yo...

N96 has been on the market for a while now, and I just wanted to know, the N96 owners WHO USED TO OWN N95 8GB, are you happier or more satisfied with N96?
Especially, in gaming, are you more satisfied with N96's gaming experience?
Thanx.

I'm far from happy with my N96 and wish I'd not bothered 'upgrading'. It's more a down-grade to what can only be seen as a cheap version of the ever so popular N95 and N95 8GB.
I'm not entirely bothered that non of the UK networks support DVB-H but it's the basics where the N96 is a complete let down... Firstly the build quality is shocking, cheap thin plastic which means the battery cover feels like its going to fall off at any second then there's the extremely poor battery life, sluggish text messaging, slow application opening, poor colour quality of the camera - not to mention the old System Error that pops up every now and then (even with up to date firmware) - well worth the £480 Nokia are charging for a sim-free version eh?!
If you do a spot of Googling you'll find thousands of unhappy N96 users!
Sort it out Nokia!

  • Niggling points after upgrading from N95 8GB to N9...

I recently got a new N97, and while some things about it are good, others are not. I previously used an N95 8GB, and there are a few things that have been lost or worsened in the upgrade:
The volume on the music player cannot be changed while the phone is locked, which makes it not an attractive option for an ipod replacement.
When playing music there is a significant gap between tracks, more so than on the N95 8GB. This makes dance music sound much worse. Is this due to an underlying slowness issue?
The music widget for the home screen has been lost, so the user must click through to the music app to see track info.
There are a few general issues with slowness and bugs such as the backlight issue, which I hear have been solved in the firmware update? This is not, however yet available on my network (three UK).
Another problem is the 'new message' icon remains in the top-right corner of the screen, even after I've marked all text messages and emails as read. Is this a common issue?
If anyone has any info on these issues: whether they will be solved in firmware updates, or if they are deliberate changes (the music player changes are particularly irritating as I'm considering getting rid of my ipod, but not for this current N97) please let me know!

@James: did you manage to copy your MMS messages from N95 to N97 successfully? I tried using 'Switch' application and Content Copier from PC Suite, but both applications cannot copy send/receive date correctly. All MMS messages appear in Inbox/Sent Items with date and time of copying.

    hi GK
When u delete the request in ODS or CUBE u want to delete the available data on those targets.
For deleting the datas in the targets u just right click on the ods or cube and give delete data so that if there is a data in the target it gets deleted. this is the main step u want to do when u reconstrcut the request and after doing this u can direclty schedule data to the target.
In targets after completing the data transfer process activate it to get that data in report also. dont forget to do this
In psa level there is no problem u can go and directly delete the request.
Assign points and gain some points in SDN

  • Custom Auto Attendant Prompts through TUI not working for users who migrated from 2010 to 2013

In Exchange 2010, we started using unified messaging and set up Auto Attendants. We setup a admin role/RBAC for people of a security group to be able to update the message on the auto attendants. They have the UMPrompts assigned role. All of this is working
great in 2010. We have now migrated to 2013, and the users who were migrated from 2010 to 2013 can no longer update the messages through TUI. Newly created 2013 users can and are assigned the EXASCT same permission as the users who have been doing this for
well over a year on 2010.  When they call the AA and press #,* they are asked to provide their extension, after doing so the system tells them that extension is not correct. and asks for the extension again.  Newly created users with the same permissions
get prompted for their PIN and can log in and change the message just fine.
Confirmed Bug?  anybody else having this issue?
What would be different for this process between a user who was migrated from a previous version like 2010 compared to a newer user who has only ever existed on 2013?

What if the migrated 2010 users are in the same DB as the system mailbox? I had a similar issue during a migration; http://www.skypeadmin.com/2014/11/10/known-issue-um-automated-attendant-tui-editing-broken-migration/

  • Data recovery from N95 8Gb internal memory

    Hello
My girlfriend's N95 8Gb came to something of a nasty end over the weekend. No screen, no keyboard, camera unit's out, but, with a battery the lights still come on. The question is whether we can recover anything from the internal 8Gb flash memory. Any thoughts as to whether anything's salvageable and/or how to go about it? Has anybody been in the same position and succeeded in recovering any data?
    Cheers

Thank you for your replies cjlim and jjegan.
The main problem I've got with mass storage mode is that with no screen nor keyboard I can't really select anything. I suspect when I connect the USB cable its probably waiting for me to select mass storage or PC Suite modes before it registers as a device on my PC. At the moment I therefore don't know for sure the connection's working. As I say the lights come on, so I'm hoping the main board is still in some sort of working condition. Guess I could see if the Nokia service centre could add a keyboard and screen??
Although costly I'd be quite happy to pay a data recovery specialist to get the images back, but I'm wondering how to even find such a specialist. I've searched google for a data recovery specialist in Singapore, but to no avail. They all seem to be fine with flash memory cards (as I am), but seem to baulk at an internal flash memory chip.

  • Data retrieval from N95 8GB/Restoring NGage games ...

Hi everything from my Nokia got deleted when I was deleting items from the LifeBlog.  I did a recovery from it using recovery software, however some items were retrieved no problems but some video files and pictures are unable to open or to view. I have lost about a month and a half worth of really important information that wasn't backed up. Any ideas why this would happen??  I remember deleting stuff from the LifeBlog previously and not loosing all my data.
The other problem I have is that my old phone was faulty so I was sent a new one, the old one had the Ngage games purchased and a few other games, however the Ngage games aren't accessible even though I can see it in the directory (Asphalt 3, Brain Game)
My 3rd problem would be when I try to view my Gallery... its giving an error message that the gallery is full even though I have 4.5GB of free space... Any ideas?  HELP please

Hi.. I'm afraid I don't have a solution 4u sorry except I was wonderin where did u get the software to retrieve at least SOME of your stuff..... as I have lost some precious photo's and videos of my sons from my Nokia N95 8gb it suddenly just vanished!!! I'm verrrry upset and crying  I would really appreciate your help!!! Please!!!???? All I remember was that I transferring some tracks to my mob via bluetooth and when i went to open my gallery it was gone!!! I was just about to make back up as well!!!
Many thanks I hope u get ur problem resolved!!!

  • Copy & Edit Contacts from N95 8GB to PC WITHOUT Sm...

Is it possible to Copy & Edit Contacts from my N95 8GB to my PC WITHOUT Smart Suite as I want them in CSV format so I can fiddle with them on a spreadsheet.
I hate SmartSuite - I find it too much of a bind - in CSV format on one page in Excell would be great!!
    Many thanks
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

    Smartsuite?
Nokia PC Suite's Communication Centre can export your phone contacts to a CSV file. If you don't want to do this then you can copy all of the contacts (again in communication centre) and paste them into a place of your choice on the PC and look for another application to get the data into a CSV file.

  • Can't send text message from N95 8GB

I suddenly cannot send anymore text message from my N95 8GB.
"Message cannot be sent" - "Verify network settings" - that's what I get.
    Can anyone help? thx.

    Hi sonia78,
Do you have enough credit/balance to send texts?
Have you checked the Message Centre number? Contact your service provider to obtain the number, and then update it in Messaging -> Options -> Settings -> Text message -> Message Centres.
Did you try a SIM from another Service provider? If the new one works, contact your service provider for help.
You can try these steps one by one, if the steps above do not help:
    1. Turn off your phone, leave your battery and SIM out for 5-10minutes and put everything back in and turn it on .
    2. Restore factory settings: type *#7780# at the standby screen. Enter 12345 for the security code or the one you've changed it to.
Before you try the next two steps, backup your phone memory using PC Suite.
    3. Soft reset: This will clean up your phone memory. All user data, applications etc stored in the phone memory will be destroyed. Type *#7370#. Enter the security code when prompted
    4. Hard reset: This is the last resort. Turn off your phone, press and hold down these keys: 3, * and the call (Green) button. Turn on your phone without releasing them. Leave the keys only after you see the region selection screen.
    5. Reinstall the firmware: Download and install the latest Nokia Software Updater from the Nokia website. Connect to the internet, connect your phone to the PC and run NSU. Follow on-screen instructions carefully. Make sure you have a full battery and a stable PC before you proceed.

  • Printing documents from N95 8GB

I know you can print photos over Bluetooth to a Bluetooth enabled printer, i.e Canon MP460.
But is it possible to print documents in this way. Or does anyone know of any software that will do this?
    Thanks

    Hi mickh1
I have seen designs posted for a simple frame to allow an iPhone to take pictures of A4 documents. Something similar so that N95 8GB is perfectly still and as it doesn't have touchscreen probably need to use timer to release shutter, should produce a satisfactory result.

  • How to remove map from n95 8gb

i have no use for the map in my n95 8gb.its of no use to me and wanted to remove it.how to do it and if i remove it will it make any difference in the speed of my phone

    Nokia Software Update.
It will wipe clean the phone and re-write it again. With everything the same as if it were bought new. If the firmware has been updated then you may get new added features and fixed known bugs or issues with the phone
P.s dont do it if you dont fully understand how. You can destroy the phone if done incorrectly.

  • Content Copier from N95 8gb to N95

    Hello,
I want to transfer all I have in my N95 8GB into my N95 (which has a 8GB microSD)
I used content copier and all the files are transfered but the configuration is not applied. I don't have the background, menu layout, tones, shortcuts... aren't restored.
What do I have to do for this to be done ?
(I checked all the checkboxes in content copier about what to copy, I already restarted the mobile phone and I use Nokia PC Suite 7.1.18.0)
    Thank you by advance,
    Alexis.

Yes you are right ! That's strange because last time I did, I don't remember about this message.
When I try to restore the parameters (after making a backup of only the parameters), I can see the back up file (15,5Mo) but it says that there's nothing to restore...
I think this is disappointing for two mobile phones that should be the exact same phones... I have the same version of symbian on it, should I try something else ?
Thanks for your answers al_lea and cricfancy.

  • Automatic sms forwarding from N95 8gb

Hi, i have a Nokia N95 8GB on the Vodafone network, however the screen has died and i cannot see anything on it. The rest of the phone still works as normal as i can connect it via the T.V out cable and see whats going on that way, however this is not possible to do when i am out and about. I have another mobile to use in the iterm, until my 5800 finally arrives or they get it in stock, and i have set all calls to divert to the other handset. I need to know if you can adjust any settings via the phone to set up sms forwarding or if it is possible via messgae centre number adjustments via the network provider.
I hope someone out there has maybe managed this, or knows of a way to do it, im not that much of a phone buff.
    Thanks,

Yes, but you need to use an additional piece of software.
These apps will do it but they all need to be signed.

  • Remove themes from N95 8GB

How do you remove unwanted themes on the N95 8GB internal memory???
I have tried via the Application manager and factory reset but it wont allow me.
Please help as it it driving me nuts.... LOL

If you mean the themes that came pre-installed on the phone then I don't think they can be removed (unless someone knows better).
I think you can only uninstall the themes that you have installed.

  • Sending all images from n95 8gb from phone to pc.

how do you send ALL the images on your n95 from the phone to the pc?, because now when i connect it only lets me transfer the ones i took between the last time i did and now. surley there is a way to re-send the other ones that you have sent before but since, lost!

I assume that you are using the Image Store feature in PC Suite, which is not something I use myself as I favour the manual approach.
By far the easiest way is to connect the phone in data transfer mode (sometimes called mass storage mode), which will make your phone's 8Gb mass memory appear in Windows Explorer as an external drive. You can then copy/paste whatever you like from the folders on the phone to your PC.

  • So people who got defective VISTA before JUNE 09 are screwed?

So....If I purchesed my laptop before June 2009...but I have a defective Windows VISTA.....I am just out of luck?  What kind of consumer support is that?   If this is the best you can offer...I certainly will not be buying any more HP products.  I do not think I will be the only one who feels this way, unless you make good on this offer.  If GM or Honda sold a defective product, they would recall it and replace it with a good one.
HP is going to lose a lot of costomers.....  Bottom line? / Millions of dollars.
I was told when I immediately discovered that VISTA does what VISTA wants, and not what 'I' want.....that I could PAY to remove this defective product, and go back to XP which was a superior operating system...and HP KNEW...when I bought this computer that it was defective.  I was not given the OPTION  to purchase a computer with Windows XP, although you have known for a long time that XP was a better operating system. I will personally be pleased to join the millions of people in the law suit against you if you do not correct this.  Included in this lawsuit, besides the purchase price of Windows 7, will also be 'Grief and Hardship'  for all the problems using this operating system, the MASSIVE acumulation of WASTED TIME and effort, and the unnessecary 'WEAR'  on my computer, for over-use of the mouse and keyboard in all the extra key strokes and mouse use, required to navigate this Windows operating system........which FINALLY after all this time, I see you have actually offered an upgrade to easily navigate pages.  If I have to pay to upgrade to Windows 7......are you going to repair my worn mouse pad for free?  Are you going to pay me for my time that was lost, and for all the data I have lost?

Oh yes, yet another boring, whining, and grossly inaccurate Vista post.  There is nothing defective about Vista and (indeed) nothing in your little whine identified a single Vista issue. If you bought the machine recently, maybe you should have tried using it, instead of  looking for a copy of XP.  On a current generation system, Vista is stable and performs reasonably - no it is not Microsoft's fastest OS but it is certainly more stable than the OS that made BSOD a universal acronym (XP).  Windows 7 is just about as stable Vista and certainly a lot faster - no surprise since it is a Vista upgrade. BTW, if you think Vista does "what it wants" (whatever that means), Windows 7 takes the Vista approach to an OS to a new level.  It certainly doesn't go back to XP in any way.  SInce I (and many others) are really tired of these posts, I'll just add the following:
    1) The starting date for the Windows 7 upgrade program was common knowledge in June and was not set by HP or any other manufacturer.  It was set by Microsoft.
    2) If you needed a machine in June and wanted XP, Dell would have been happy to sell you one.  If you didn't need to make the purchase immediately, you could have waited a couple weeks for the upgrade program to start.
    3) Please point out the company that gives you the next product because you didn't like the current or past one.  I am sure everyone from your toaster, television, microwave, car, etc. manufacturer has given you your next one free when you had an issue.  I've spent years helping people with their unending XP crashes and other screw-ups, and view it as Microsoft's worst OS next to ME (just with greater longevity that has allowed people to forget how bad it initially was and adapt to all of its nuisances).  I guess I should have gotten Vista and Windows 7 for free.
    4) If you didn't want to pay full price for Windows 7, there was a discount program that has also now come and gone.
Good luck with that lawsuit.  I am sure it will be about as successful as you will in getting a free copy of Windows 7 by complaining at forum participants as if we work for HP....
