To run MRP without considering unrestricted stock

Hi,
Is it possible to run MRP without considering unrestricted stock of the material?
Best Regards,
Sitaraman

Dear All,
Thanks a lot for your response to this thread.
In fact i tried the option of providing value 1 to exclude the storage location stock from the MRP. But it did not fulfil my requirement.
My requirement is as below:
The business wants to create the material requirement by manual reservations.
Also for this MRP run except this manual reservations all other issue elements, receipt elements and stocks should not get considered.
With checking group configuration i am able to exclude all other issue, receipt and stock elements. But in this settings there is no option to exclude the unrestricted stock.
What happened when i tried giving 1 in MRP 4 view to exclude the storage location stock, the system not only excludes the stock but also it excludes the storage location from MRP run. Meaning...
Plant   XXXX
SLOC YYYY
SLOC - YYYY current stock: 100
Manual reservation created (requirement) for SLOC -YYYY : 50
The expectation out of MRP run is, to create procurement proposals for 50 numbers with out considering SLOC - YYYY stock of 100 and not to exclude the SLOC YYYY itself.

  • How to consider unrestricted stock for the run of MRP project?

    Hi every one!
We are facing a problem using MRP on project stock.
We would like that the MRP takes unrestricted stock into consideration while calculating quantities to order for project stock.
For example, a project request 100 pieces of material X.
We have already 25 pieces of material X in unrestricted stock and 0 in project stock.
When I run MRP (MD51), it creates a Purchase Requisition of 100 pieces on the WBS element I have defined and not 75 as expected!!!
By searching in documents and forums, I have read I have to set the value "2 - Collective requirements only" into the field MRP4 > BOM explosion/dependent requirements > Individual/coll. of the Material Master.
I have done it but it doesn't change anything.
Thanks in advance for your support!!!
    Bogdan

    Hello guys!
As told, here I come with news about my problem.
Finally, the Strategy Group didn't solve our problem.
We didn't solve our problem as planned but we have found another way to work.
Instead of including the unrestricted stock in the MRP project, we use transaction CO46 to have an overview of the unrestricted stock of all the components of the project's BOM.
Based on that overview, the user can make stock transfers of the available quantities from the unrestricted stock to the project stock.
I hope it can help people having the same problem!

  • MRP Not considering Safety stock

    Hello
We have settings as 1000 for safety stock . if the stock went below 1000 , MRP is not pulling the stock for the confirmation of the Production order. we checked the safety stock indicator in the Availability check for the Prod order confirmation . What ever the stock are available ( only unrestricted stock we want to consider for the availability check )
    Any suggestion please.
    Thanks
    JJ

    Hi,
When your stock level goes below the Safety stock, then MRP will trigger a planned order to maintain the planned order. In your availability scope of check, if you checked the safety stock, the system will allow to consume the safety stock by posting the goods issue, if the tick is not there, it will not post the goods issue, saying insufficient stock is there.

  • MRP ignore unrestricted stock with project stock

We are using Project Stock. When we generate reservations in Project Stock and run MRP, MRP ignors any unrestricted stock in the plant and always creates Purchase Reqs!
Our MRP settings for the Material Master seem correct (zero saftey stock, etc.).
We will want that, when the material is in unrestricted stock, MRP don't creates the Purchase Reqs for the material with reservation in Project stock.
    is It possible ??
    Thank's for you regards
    Serghei

    Serghei,
    Yes, that is exactly right.
When you create a requirement for project stock, the system will perform a net requirements calculation against project stock.  If it finds no project stock, it will create a purreq for project stock.
Now, you have said that your business requirement is that you want MRP to do its work, and to consider unrestricted stock.  The only way you can do this is by creating a reservation against unrestricted stock.  Project stock is always considered in individual segments, apart from unrestricted.  This is a 'feature' of project planning.
It is possible to create a project order, which contains reservations for components, which are valid against unrestricted stock.  However, when you create project reservations manually, they will never consider unrestricted.
Exactly what is your business goal in this effort?

  • How can MRP consider subcontracting stock?????

    Hi All
Is there any way wherein MRP can consider subcontracting stock???????????
Say for example; client is sending excess material to subcontractor due to storage constraints at his end. Now, subcontractor will assemble the components and send them back....Now since i had send excess material as against my requirement; i have excess stock... But when there is a requirement for this and when i do MRP run, system is not considering this stock and proposes new purchase requisitions????
Is there any way wherein MRP can consider this subcontracting stock...Please give your valuable comments??

    Hi,
Go to Tcode OPJJ and check the settings under the combination of Availability check and checking rule.
    Kindly reward if satisfied

  • Grouping, Pegging and Distribution (GPD) when run MRP for PS

    Dear all,
As you know, MRP is a core of Planning Process. So when you run MRP for PS, SAP can't check stock in general stock and project stock at the same time. Now, my client have accept to run MRP base on project stock. But there are some problem when they give me requirement and actually situation in their company. One of them as below:
They have 3 WBS element (WBS 1, WBS 2, WBS 3) and they use the same material A. Their requirement is they want to run MRP to plan material for 3 WBS.
Solution 1: use MD51 and run MRP for Project definition and each of WBS element have respective project stock, the system will generate some of planned order for each oder reservation. After that, I will convert all of planned order to PR => PO => Good Receipt for each WBS element. When run MD04, I can see the stock for each project stock for respective WBS element.
Ok, I will talk about the limited of this solution. I suppose after complete technical for all of order reservation in WBS 1 and in project stock of WBS 1 have 3 material A not be use. But in WBS 2 is missing 3 material A. So when I run MRP again for WBS 2 by tcode MD51, the system will generate new planned order for this missing material A. This is not logic because I have enough material A for reservation in WBS 1. So I suggest my client that you should transfer material A from WBS 2 to WBS 1, they agree with me if they don't have many WBS element. But they have about 300 WBS element and they can't do transfer posting between many many WBS element. This solution 1 is not be accept.
Solution 2: I use GPD for this requirement. Firstly I will group WBS 1, WBS 2 and WBS 3 into WBS group. So use tcode MD04, I can see only WBS group and all of order reservation in each WBS 1, 2, 3 be showed on MD04 table. When I run MRP, the system will generate planned order for them. After that, I will conver all to PR => PO => Good receipt to WBS group. And in MD04 table, I can see project stock for WBS group. I begin transfer material from WBS group to each WBS 1, 2, 3. When all of order reservation in WBS 1 is technical complete, the material in WBS 1 have 3 material A not be use. And in WBS 2, I have a new order reservation and it be assigned 4 material A. At this time, project stock on WBS group is 0 but in WBS 1 is 3. But when I run MRP by tcode MD51, the system generate planned order with amount is 4. I wonder that why SAP does not check all material on all WBS element in WBS group to suggest a planned order with amount is 1. If SAP can solve this problem, my client will be accept this solution.
    Hoping you support me.
    Thanks, Regards

    Hi Ahmed Rifaee
Thanks for your reply, I will talk about process in SAP.
So, I have 2 WBS element, that's simple because my project is have about 200 WBS element.
WBS1 have 2 order reservation for each actvity and material A0001 be use in 2 order reservation.
    Order Reservation 1 needs 3  A0001
    Order Reservation 2 needs 5  A0001
WBS2 have 1 order reservation for each activity and material A0001 be use in it
    Order Reservation 3 needs 4  A0001
1.)     If I don't group 2 WBS1 and WBS2 to one WBS group, SAP will have 2 project stock for each WBS. and when I run MRP, WBS1 and WBS2 run independent base on current project stock at each WBS. So, although project stock WBS1 is run out of A0001 while A0001 still exist A0001 in project stock WBS2, SAP still generat planned order for missing part A0001 in project stock WBS1.
2.)     If I use GPD by group WBS1 and WBS2, I can solve this problem easy because they will use only one project stock for WBS group. Ok, after I good receipt A0001 into project stock, I'm sure that I have enough A0001 for 2 WBS1 and WBS2. But I can trace which reservation be ordered to delivery to them exactly. I try to use tcode MD09 to trace from Purchase order to Order reservation but I have just to trace in case PO have not been good receipted. I wonder that Pegging can help me in this case (PO have been good receipted).
Can you give me any idea for these problem
    Thanks, Regards

  • MRP without MRP views

    Hi Experts,
Is it possible to carry out MRP, without maintaining MRP views and Planning file entries (Manual) for a material?, Please explain!!
    Thanks and Regards,
    Suresh.

    Hi,
Is it not possible to rum MRP without MRP views extended for the materials.
For running MRP system requires some key parameters like :
    Procurement Type
    Lot Size
    Rounding Profiles
    Reorder level / point
    MRP Type
    MRP Group
    ..........etc
As all these fields are available in MRP views only it is not possible to run MRP without extending MRP views for the Materials.
    Hope this will help you.

Special stock cannot be included in the MRP run, either you have to make it unrestricted or implement a BAdI or userexit.
BAdI/Enhancement implementation may not be very reliable :
The following BAdi's are available for MRP related stuff

  • To consider subcontract stock during mrp run

    Dear all,
while mrp run it is not considering subcontractor stock .Is there any setting in spro so that it will consider subcontractor stock into consideration.
    with regards
    cp vijaya kumar

    Dear,
Special stocks are not considered for MRP run. Subcontracting stock is a special stock(O), hence is not considered for MRP.
    Hope clear to you.

  • Running MRP (my Center) considering free stock in the subcontract.

    Hi all!
When I run MRP (for one of my Centers') the standard algoritm does not take into account, the free stock I have in the subcontract.
Due a requisit of an internal client, I need to include in the algoritm, the free stock in the subcontract.
    EX:
    10 un. (my Center)
    5 un. (subcontract)
    20 un. needed
    Standard behaviour
SAP Creates a PR with 10 un!
As far as I know, there are no standard way to solve this requisite, so I need to use USER EXIT....right?
In your opinion, what is the best procedure to solve this requisite?
Do you know any USER EXIT that fits this scenário?
    Thanks in advance!
    Kind Regards

Instead of using BADi MD_SUBCONT_LOGIC, I was thinking in using  MD_PURREQ_CHANGE or MD_PLDORD_CHANGE depending on the situation. BADi MD_SUBCONT_LOGIC does not let any modifications in the quantity of the PR or Planned Orders.
In your opinion, do you think these two BADi are a good option, to solve this requisite?

I think the hint you gave, is not quite what I was needing, but I apreciate your effort!

  • How to consider the stocks of other plants in MRP run

    Hello All,
I have a requirement in  which  A finished material which it´s planning and production is on PLANT 1 and and is transfered to plant 2 (there is no production and no planning on this plant, it is used for storage only). In that case, I would like the MRP to check the stock of finished material both in plant 1 and 2 for creating planned orders .
I know  this can  be possible  with APO .  but is there any other way round we can do this like MRP area or scope of planning or some z developemenmts.
    Thanks in advance
    Regards
    Anupam Sharma

Is there any stock at production plant?  Where does the goods issue to sales occur?
If both plants can have stock and sales can occurs in both plants then it is the issue not only stock but also sales order consumption with planned independent requirement.  You need to have two BADI to do so.  First is the one you mentioned and the flexible PIR also (MD_PIR_FLEX_CONS).
If only storage plant has stock and sales occurs here, then you may want to explore special procurement type produce in other plant and make storage plant a planning plant.  The receipt of production order at production plant will posted into storage plant directly.
If sales occurs in storage plants, and there are stock in both plant, use special procurement type transfer from others (40 as standard).  When you run MRP, the system will check stock at storage plant first, then if shortage, create stock transfer request to production plant.  At production plant, the stock transfer request will be your demand to offset with stock there before create planned order.
Like other comments stated previously, SAP cannot handle the multiple plants planning very well.

  • How to run MRP for Bulk Material without using LTP

Hi, how can I run MRP for BULK material without using LTP.
    Thanks in advance
    BK

    Hi,
Use trasnsaction code OPPQ and goto BOM Explosion and selection depends on
    Field selected
No dependent requirements are created for informational purposes for bulk material items in the plant selected. This can improve system performance.
    Field not selected
Dependent requirements are created for bulk material items in the plant selected. These dependent requirements are displayed in the planned order for informational purposes only. They are not considered in the net requirements calculation; that is, they are not included in material requirements planning (MRP) and are not displayed in the stock/requirements list

  • MRP strategy 50 that checks unrestricted stock

    Hi All,
MRP strategy 50 is make-to-order, thus it ties the sales order to a sales order stock. I want to explore the possibility of having the sales order check for unrestricted stock before proposing a planned order for the sales order stock.
Main purpose is to have the unrestricted stock being considered before a planned order is created for a make-to-order scenario.
    Regards,
    Chew

I believe that you should not use strategy 50  for your requiremenet. You should use make to stock strategy and this will use your stock first and then create a requirement for purchase or production as the case may be. This requirement can then be convereted into a purchase order or planned order for production via MRP run.
    Hope this helps.

  • Consider subcontracting stock in MRP

    Hello experts,
Does anybody know what customizing is necesary for a material to consider the subcontracting stock in MRP??
For that material, in in MRP3 view, I have assigned a checking rule for availavility check that has the flag w/o subcontracting unmarked, but it seems that it is not enought.
    Can anybody help me?
    Thanks !
    Laura

    Dear Laura,
Sub-contracting stock is a special stock and it will not be considered during MRP run.
You can define a MRP area for the sub-contractor and try to run MRP for that area alone.

  • Ways to consider the stocks provided to vendor on the MRP output

    Hi Gurus,
I have a requirement where the business want the stocks provided to vendor to be considered when running the MRP in plant.
This is a subcontracting vendor and when checking the MD04, the stocks was displayed as special stocks. Is there any way that we can consider subcrontract stocks for MRP?
I have checked already the MRP areas, but I since we have a lot of existing plants in our system. I intend to not use the MRP area as it might cause issues to planning in our existing plants. Is there any other way?
Please let me know your thoughts on this.

    Hi Elen,
I believe by having BAdI- MD_SUBCONT_LOGIC implemented in your system, you can consider Subcontracting Stock in MRP.
Check with technical team to do the needful coding.
    Hope it will help.
