To run the exe on labview

Hello NI,
I want to run the (thirdparty) exe file using labiview command. but, the exe file should be visualize with in the vi like sub vi, not independently. is there any like a activex container to be execute ?
Example, if i want to run the notpad.exe file, that should be visible on within the labview VI. like we creating subvi...
Suggest me.

Captivate 7 does not run the exe on windows xp

We are using adobe captivate 7 installed (trail version ) in a windows 7 with SP1 computer . when we publish it and run exe in the windows XP (home ) under administrator we get following error even if the flash player is updated.
"" The installed version of Flash Player is not the latest. The latest Flash Player version has been installed successfully without affecting your existing Flash Player installation. Double-click the EXE again to run it.""
when we click OK it disappears and when we run the exe for the next time it runs . whereas if we run the same exe in the other user (not having admin permission ) also gets the same error and after clicking OK if we run exe again it shows the same error message again and again .
we have tested in win 7, win 8 , win server 2012 it works fine.
please suggest me why it comes and how to prevent it .

Installing on Windows is pretty simple, unless there is something that prevents the java environment from starting the console. Check the path environment variable and make sure there are no other jdk mixed. Check that the windows security doesn't prevent the oui console from starting, it happens that the windows security blocks java applications, and if you asked it to do it by clicking accept, then it won't start.

I have downloaded the Premiere 10 trial and run the exe file in...\Adobe Premiere Elements 10\PRE 10\ElementsSTIInstaller, However, I can not find the program on my computer. Can you please tell me the procedure to install the program following the down load???
P.S. the download assistant does not install the program automatically and I have restarted the computer.

Updating BIOS, Windows won't run the exe

I'm running Win7 Pro x64 and I want to update the BIOS on a a55m-p33 mobo. Live update just says 'download fail', so I've downloaded the file separately and put it on a pen drive as per the BIOS Update SOP. When I run the exe it says it isn't compatible with this version of Windows.
Anyone know why that would be?

I would like to convert a matlab file into a .dll and use it in LabVIEW. However, when I run the .dll in LabVIEW I get an error stating "... Procedure not found". What could this be? Can anyone help me...

I wish to convert my Matlab files into .dll's so that I can use them in LabVIEW. I am using 'mcc' and 'mbuild' of Matlab to convert my .m files into .c and .dll.
When I try to run the .dll's in LabVIEW, I get an error message in a modal window stating some required .dll or procedure is not found.
How should I resolve this issue. Should I add any other Matlab .dll's in course of making my .dll?

How to run the exe in system tray?

Interestingly i want to do something with labview with different task... now, after creating the exe is it possible to run on "system tray"
when exe window close that will come to system tray.... how to do this?,..

I can download firefox, but when I try to run it, windows 7 asks me to select a program type to run the *.exe file

I am running windows 7 with IE 10. I want to switch to Firefox as my browser. I am able to download the Firefox Setup 22 0 exe, but when I try to open or run it, windows prompts me to "choose the program you want to use to open this file". This happens with both the Firefox Setup Stub 22 0 exe (274kb) and the Firefox Setup 22 0 exec (21,239Kb). I can't find any program on Windows to run this exe. Same thing happens when I try to run the troubleshooter exe.

Program Error from running the *,exe file but works fine running with CVI

When starting CVI created program on Win 2000, I get message “Program Error”.
I have created a program using NI/CVI version 5.5. I am running windows 2000, I get message
“Program Error"
*.exe has generated errors and will be closed by Windows. You will need to restart the program.
An error log is being created.”
It works fine when running directly from the compilier, but if I run just the *.exe I get this error. I never used to.
Please let me know if anyone else had this problem or knows solution.

In the debugger unitialized globals are initialized to zero, but not for a release .exe. So if you are checking whether a global pointer is NULL before it is set to a value by your application it will generally work fine in the debugger but may crash as a release configuration depending on what you use that pointer for. That's a common thing I have run into.

Running an EXE from LABVIEW without the 'cmd' window showing

Hi,
I am currently using the 'system exec.vi' in a LabVIEW application to open files in external executables (mainly Windows Explorer, Acrobat Reader and Word). This actually works fine and while my application is fairly sleek (even if I do say so myself) I am annoyed by the cmd window that momentarily appears each time I use the 'system exec.vi'.
Is there any way to disable this window? Or maybe there is another way of opening the files altogether?
I am using LabVIEW 8.0 on Windows XP Pro.
Any help would be appreciated.

I do buy LV as part of a developer suite so could use the toolkit you mentioned. While PDF's and Word docs are the main files I open they are not the only. I guess I could open different file types different ways. I just hoped there was a better all round way to do it.
As far as Windows Explorer goes... My application is a file manager targetted directly at the file structures we use for developing functional test applications. The application handles all the file management requirements (i.e. WIP Backups, deploying, zipping/archiving etc) and its an added feature that you can 'explore' a given folder directly from the application. The general idea is that all our developers create systems using the same structure and approach.

Have you looked at the VI in vi.lib\Platform\browser.llb\Open a Document on Disk.vi. It opens the document passed in according to its file ending and attempts to communicate with the target application through DDE if possible before using the command line. Even then I have not seen a cmd window popup so far.

Running the VI causes LabVIEW to crash

Hello
While debugging a SW, I found that a particular VI, when run, causes LabVIEW to crash. This happens whether this VI is called while executing an exe or called by higher VI or even when it is run separately.
The VI to be run is NLD_Test_PP_Plot.vi present in the folder "Generic VI's".
The input for this VI is .csv file, which is attached. The csv file needs to be placed in a separate location and that path needs to be entered in the string constant in the VI.
Note: This VI is developed and run in LV v2009.

LabVIEW did not crash for me (nor did it throw an error). It made a bmp of your data and then exited. I am using LV 2013.
Did it actually crash or did it throw an error? If it crashed, do you have the crash zip file?

My requirement is to run my application Executable OR Jar, if the file has been dropped to that executable OR Jar and can show the file name which has been dropped.

we would like the user to be able to pick a file from native file system and drag & drop it to our application icon and have it uploaded to server
We have an existing java desktop application which starts, when user click on our application icon (placed on desktop) OR double click on executable(.exe). It opens the frame which allows user to select the file from native file system and uploads it to the server.
Now we would like to facilitate user, that he can pick a file from windows explorer and drag it to the application icon & drop it on the application icon on the desktop. This would start the uploading of that file on the server.
We are using JSmooth to build an executable from jar. I would like to know..
How we can launch the application if user drops local file onto the system icon ?
How we get the absolute path of file name which has been dropped onto the executable ?

There are a couple of things I know that can cause this. One of which I have experienced myself.
Sometimes, your router may be faulty. This will usually effect all downloads unless they are very small files. I have experienced this myself, and found the only way to fix the problem is to replace it.
Another problem that could cause this is a virus. You should scan your computer for viruses using a trusted antivirus. The virus is sometimes scareware which claims you have a virus, but actually, the only virus is the scareware antivirus!

Download went fine but I get an error message about rights (even logged in as Administrator) and disk space (even though there's plenty) when I try to run the .exe and extract files.

IT help said the installer was corrupted. Back I go to see if I can download it again and get a clean version.

Banjo Seth if you are receiving messages that you have insufficient file permissions then please have your I.T. department attempt the install utilizing a local administrator account.

Erase the datalog file when the exe is running for the first time.

I've a req something like this...
Please assist me so that i could hit the right target.
A datalog.txt file would be appended with the data everytime i run the exe.
However if i close (be specific not stop) the entire exe
And run the exe after opening it for the first time, it should ask me wehther to delete or append the existing datalog file.
In short whenever running the exe for the first time it should ask the user whether to delete the existing datalog.txt or append the old one.
THis is my req please help me...

You can use an uninitialized shift register, that you wire with a TRUE on the right side. Its output on the left will only be false the first time the VI is run and true for subsequent runs.
Still, an exe should always run. Design it as as a proper state machine with an idle state when you don't what it to perform anything specific.
