Safari Bitstream Vera Sans font not displaying

Hello,
I have a font display problem in Safari 4.
I upgraded to Snow Leopard and Safari 4.0.3, and web pages which specify in the CSS file:
"font-family: 'Bitstream Vera Sans', Verdana, Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif;"
are not displaying properly. The entire page, except where a different font is used, is replaced with a character that looks like letter "A" with a square around it.
If I inspect the text element, then uncheck the font-family line, all characters display readably. What could be happening?

I was having this problem, too. I fixed it by I fixed it by downloading the font via the "Download" button at http://www.dafont.com/bitstreamverasans.font, decompressing the downloaded zip file, selecting the four ".ttf" files in the Finder, right-clicking and choosing "Open With.../Font Book.app", clicking "Install Font" on the resulting window. Then, in order to clear the font cache, I did the following in a Terminal window:
sudo atsutil databases -remove
sudo atsutil databases -removeUser
sudo atsutil server -shutdown
sudo atsutil server -ping

Client will not mount SAN after upgrade to 10.4.8 Server

Living life on the bleeding edge, I loaded the 10.4.8 Server upgrade onto my G4 Xserve which is the MDC for my single Xraid SAN. The SAN started without a hitch, however, the volume would not mount on the client side. The MDC shows up in the client list and the mount buttons are active, but the SAN will not mount. The system log yields the following error:
Can not mount filesystem, cvfs error 'Invalid argument' (0xb) while initializing local portmapper
I checked the obvioius: /volume is clear of old links, running cvfsck showed no problems, and cvadmin stat looks ok and who shows the MDC as FSM and ADM.
Has anybody else run into this? Any observations would be welcomed!

As indicated on the tag line, Xsan 1.4. Upgrade from OS 10.4.7. SAN created using version 1.4. SAN mounted just fine under 10.4.7. In an attempt to isolate the problem, I tried mounting the SAN from the command line:
mount -t acfs iplVol1.cfg /Volumes
only to received the same invalid argument error. I suspect that a parameter name has been changed/deleted/munged when parsing the volume's cfg file. Since Apple did NOT reference the invalid string token in the error message, I can not be sure. I am just now getting back to work the issue.

InDesign CC from Windows to Mac - Gill Sans will not convert

Hi guys,
I am aware this is a question that may have cropped up on the community forum a couple of times but as far as I've seen, none of the posts really answer my questions. I am currently working on an InDesign file on a Windows platform when at work, but when I open it on my Mac at home, Gill Sans will not convert, nor will Lucida. I have tried substituting each instance in the Font Type Kit but to no avail. Is there anything that can be done about this or will I never be able to work on this file without messing the font up? Thanks!

I use a PC at work to create files but when I open these at home, fonts will not be recognised. The file I'm struggling with has Gill Sans, Gill Sans Italic, Gill Sans Bold and Lucida. When I open the file on Mac, I cannot automatically select these to convert to their equivalent on Mac and the whole file goes completely out of whack which means I have to go and manually re-format the fonts.

Moving the Individual Protection group from one SAN Volume to another SAN Volume

Old SAN Storage to New SAN storage. Is it possible that I mention protection group individually and move each protection group bit-by-bit to the new SAN Storage.

HP SAN LUN not appearing in format command after applying 10-Recommended

We applied the 10-Recommended from March 18 and now the HP SAN LUNs are not appearing in the format command and when we cd to the mount points and run ls or ls -l no files are returned. We have verified that the LUNs are being presented by the HP SAN to the system as they were before applying the patch cluster. This is on an E-2900 with QLogic HBAs.

Source Sans Pro not displaying in 'Design' mode

All of a sudden Source Sans Pro is not displaying in the 'Design' mode in Muse. Its still able to preview in browser correctly. But obviously I need it to display correctly within the 'Design' mode in order to design.

Sorry to hear you are running into this issue. Could you try the following workaround?
1. Close Muse
2. Rename the folders named tk1 and tk2 in the following locations
For Muse CC 2014 (the latest version)
On Windows: %appdata%\com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.0\Local Store. You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window
On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/com.adobe.AdobeMuseCC.2014.0/Local Store. You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog (Shift+Command+G)
For prior versions
On Windows: %appdata%\AdobeMuse\Local Store. You can type this in the Path bar at the top of the Windows Explorer window
On Mac: ~/Library/Preferences/AdobeMuse/Local Store. You can type this in the Go To Folder dialog (Shift+Command+G)
3. Launch Muse and add the font again

SANE does not allow c++ external backend ( epkowa for epson V200)

Some Epson scanners ( Perfection V100, V200, etcc ) need an external library and the corresponding firmware from epson site ( package iscan and iscan-plugin ).
On gentoo, debian based and rpm based distrib, sane is compiled to allow such things
Stock sane from sane.org and arch does not seem to link with the c++ backend epkowa provided by epson
xsane work fine but scanimage -L not ( scanimage is necessary for scripting )
To use an epson external firmware based scanner , one have to compile sane by hand
and modify frontend/Makefile
LINK = $(CC) [...] need to be replaced by LINK = g++ [ ... ]
Lost several hours to figure out where was the prb, cause the epkowa sane backend used to work out of the box on other distrib

I "SOLVED"
I replaced the original "epson", "epson2" and "epkowa" drivers with the drivers installed on a notebook with Fedora16 (and sane 1.0.23), and now epkowa profile works good with all resolutions!

Open Sans Condensed not rendering right

Hi community
I'm building a website using (partially) Google webfont 'Open Sans Condensed'. Also my website is in Greek.
In Chrome and Firefox the font is rendered correctly, in Safari it's not rendered at all.
On the iPad & iPhone (tested in Chrome & Safari) it only renders the latin characters right, the greek are not.
Any ideas???

Several people with similar issues (in other forums) recommended this:
"If 'Open Sans Condensed' is installed on the computer, disable it in Font Book. Should solve the problem."
Result:
In fact it does effect the come out, but doesn't solve the problem!!!
Now Safari (desktop) renders the font the same way as the iPad (only latin characters are right) Greek is still not working.
I couldn't expect the visitors of my website to NOT have the font installed, also this solution wouldn't work on iPad anyway.
Any other suggestions?

OVS not seeing SAN disk (Netapp)

I have setup Oracle Virtual Mananger v3.1.1 on Oracle Linux with Oracle 11g standard. I have then created two OVS servers (HP DL380 G6) v3.0.3. I then discovered them ok on the OVM. I have created two SAN disks on our Netapp and presented them to both servers over fibre. I was able to see both disks from both servers, setup the server pool, add both servers in a cluster and then create a VM on one of them. So all ok so far.... Next I reboot one of the servers and it struggles to get back into the cluster. I can see that they are not picking up the SAN disks for ages after the reboot, in which case it cannot join the cluster. If I ssh onto the server and look in /dev/mapper the only file there is control. On the server that hasn't been rebooted for ages I can see both SAN disks. If I do service ovs-agent restart a number of times it then adds one of the SAN disks in but by then I cannot connect to the cluster. I have tried all sorts of things looking on forums. Can someone please help me please before I start from scratch and recable using NFS presented storage and try again. Has anyone else had this?

Hi, thanks for your input. At the moment one of the drives has come back (poolfsmnt) but not the storage mount. I have ran the fdisk -l and the results are below... I do have multiple paths but I only put the second fibre cable in each ovs due to the problem I was having, and that made no difference.
The disks I have created are a 100gb for the pool and 1tb for the storage...

OS X Leopard does not support SAN

Leopard has a problem with many SAN devices. If you ever eject a mounted network disk, it will never ever come back. Rebooting the machine, the network and the device will not help. It's gone forever.

If the server doesn't appear in the sidebar of the Finder, press Command-K to open the "Connect to Server..." dialog or select it from the "Go" menu.
You may also want to look at: Finder > Preferences > Sidebar and make sure "Connected Servers" and "Bonjour Computers" are selected.
Personally I have no problems connecting to any server or network volume.

Lucida Sans font not showing correctly on certain computers with jdk 1.3

I am writing a program that uses a lot of unicode symbols so I need to use Lucida Sans font as opposed to the default font. My code is
infinityButton.setFont(new Font("Lucida Sans", Font.PLAIN, 12));
etc ...
this works on almost every machine I have tried. But the person I specifically wrote it for has a computer with a jdk 1.3.1 who can't see it correctly. The font is actually in the jre/lib/fonts directory and is listed in the fonts.properties and yet it doesn't load? I was wondering if anyone might have a clue as to what is happening.

We have a Windows 2012 CA that we have enabled SAN certs on. This has always work up to a few weeks ago. Users would create a CSR and use the CA to generate the cert successfully but they would always be missing the SAN info. Strange!
How do I troubleshoot what is going on here?

New SAN array not all paths login until reboot

We have a senerio with some of our UCS domains. when we add a new storage array some paths will login to the array but not all will login until we reboot a host. We have 4 UCS domains 6140x, 6248 and 2 x 6296. the older 6140 seems to always login and have no issues the newer seems to only login a single path and sometimes none until a reboot of the blades occurs. the FI up link to Brocade 5300 FC switches. This does not appear Firmware related as the newer 6296 are on 2.2.3b and the other are on 2.1.3e until next main window. I am thinking there is some issues with the upstream brocades and RSCN passing toe th newer FI . Any thoughts and direction as i really don't want to spend the next month rebooting hosts.
