To separate address books possible on E61?

Hi,
would it be possible - using built-in functionality or a 3rd party application - to maintain two separate address books? I would like to have my company´s contacts in my phone, without mixing them all into my private contact list so things don´t get confused.
Thank you very much!
Regards,
Hendikoischnur

Not sure about any dedicated 3rd party applications but if you install Windows Live Messenger here http://www.symbianv3.com/new-windows-live-messenger-perfect
You do get a second section to your phone book that allows a separate phonebook, what will make it even better is that if you have a msn/hotmail account these contacts will synchronise with their server thus creating a back-up for you should you lose your phone

How do I create a second, separate address book on my iMac? Is it possible?

Unless you are willing to continually do an export of one contacts database and import of the other, switching back and forth, you'll either need to use some third-party contacts application or maintain two separate user accounts in Mac OS X. The built-in Address Book/Contacts application does not allow multiple address books.

  • Separate address book for my wife and I

I reently switched to Mac and this is driving me crazy. I would like to keep our computer under one user so we don't have to switch user profiles to access her address book or if I update and address in my book, it doesn't get updated in hers. But, when I go to address e-mails I don't want her huge list of names being auto-suggested and me having to sift through all of her addresses in order to find the people I want to address the email to. The question: Is there a way to keep all of our addresses in one address book (one user profile), but when I am logged into my mail, Mail knows to only look in MY address group for the email addresses I specify, instead of pulling up my wife's rediculous sized (and often unorganized) bunch of addresses. I don't want to accidentally slip up with the arrow keys and add one of her recipients to an outgoing email. Sometimes my wife's friends wouldn't appreciate emails that guys send to each other if you know what I mean...
Thanks for any help...and please tell me there is a way to separate my wifes email address book from mine...please tell me Mac thought of this.
PS I've tried the whole 2 user profiles thing and the idea of seperate address books for updating sake and other reasons, I'd like to try the single profile thing.

I thought Mac would be better with their mail client than this.
But Mail has nothing to do with this at all. Address Book is a completely separate application, and it's that way for good reason; it's not merely a whim.
I can't imagine what Mac is thinking that if a family of 5 uses the family computer, that all 5 people's email addresses clog up the search for the person writing the email at the time.
Each user has a separate Address Book (and other applications like Mail and Safari) to keep that exact scenario from happening, as well as to keep people out of each other's accounts so things don't go missing, private emails aren't being read by overly curious people, and so your account doesn't get screwed up by someone else playing with things they shouldn't be touching.
Are there any third party apps or plugins I can download in order to tell Mail that when I am in my account to only search for the contacts in a certain group that I create?
Sorry, but there's no such things available. It would be impossible for your Mac to become sentient and know what you created versus someone else creating.

  • Is there a Way to create 2 separate address books?

Perhaps this is an easy question but I am relatively new to Macs. I was wondering if there is a way to create 2 separate address books under the same user profile? I have a palm device and a cell phone and i would like to create a separate book just for isyncing with the cell phone since my phone only holds 500 contacts and the palm holds more. I don't need every palm number on the cell. The only way I can see is to create a separate user profile on the iMac. Any other ideas? Thanks in advance for your help.

You don't have to include every contact in Address Book in the sync - you can choose to sync just a group. So make two groups, one for the palm and one for the mobile phone. A contact can belong to multiple groups. I THINK (you will have to check yourself) you can have different settings in iSync for the different devices, so just associate each group with the appropriate device.
One thing to watch out for - if the synchronising process finds a new contact on one of the remote devices, it will make new contact for it in AB, but it won't add it to the group, so you'll have to do that manually.

  • How do I create a separate Address Book? I'm not asking about a mailing list but an address book where the addresses are not mixed in with my regular address b

How do I create a separate Address Book? I'm not asking about a mailing list but an address book where the addresses are not mixed in with my regular address book. I already have three address books created for me by Thunderbird. I add all new addresses to one of those but am afraid to delete the other address books because some of their addresses are not repeated in my "main" address book. So if I don't delete all the names in one of the existing books, I need to create an empty book that will not mix the addresses with those in another address book. HOW DO I CREATE A NEW, EMPTY ADDRESS BOOK? I want to be able to create various mailing LISTS using the addresses in this new book so I will eventually have a special address book with a variety of mailing lists I can use as I wish.

In 24.4.0 there is no File|New|Address Book. There is File|New|Address Book Contact. How do I create a new address book ?

  • Two Separate Mail Accounts w/Two Separate Address Books?

I want to set up two separate mail accounts with two separate address books. I've been using Mail for several years and love it. My wife has been with AOL but now wants to move to Mail.
Is there a way to have two separate accounts, two address books, and two separate Mail icons to click to open, so we aren't tempted to look at each other's incoming/outgoing mail? Also, our address books are very different and we'd rather not intermingle them.

    Hi StacheCache!
She could also retrieve her AOL Email online, without a separate User Account on your shared Mac.
She would log in to AOL Webmail using her AOL Screen Name and password.

  • Sync cell phone address book to a separate address book

I use 2 cell phones for different purposes. One is just for work.
Is there any way to split up the address book (in my mac) so that when I sync my work cell phone, it saves it to its own separate address book? Instead of merging all my addresses from 2 different phones and the mac

You can easily create two Groups in Address Book - one for each phone - with different Contacts in, and then choose the relevant Group to sync TO the phone in Address Book.
The problem is that iSync still doesn't put new Contacts created on a phone into the designated Group in Address Book when syncing back FROM the phone. All new Contacts created on the phone will go into the All group and you will manually have to organise them into the required Groups in Address Book.
The only other way to do this is have separate user accounts on your Mac, one for Home and one for Work which would have separate Address Book databases, then sync the relevant phone from within the relevant user account.

My contacts have been transferred from my iPhone5 to iPhone6 . I now need to back them up in a new PC in a separate address book How can I do it without adding all contacts from Outlook when I synch  back from iTunes ?

From the OP: "My old computer got a virus and when that happened all my music was lost. "
They don't have the music on their computer so they cannot transfer the iTunes folder, from the computer to their iPod and then to the new computer. And if they try to enable disk use on the iPod it will erase all the music that is on it. The method you cited is moving the files in a data format using the iPod as a flash drive. It doesn't work if they are in music format. That is why I suggested Yamipod.

  • How do we create two completely separate address books?

Under our mailboxes folder, we have created two separate email accounts. How do we create an address book for each email account? (they need to be completely separate from each other)

This is easy. You can do an export (backup) and import of the address book. So get one you like, export it. Create a new one, export it. Now just import the one you want to work with. Just be sure to export it again before you import the other one, in case you have made changes.
I do this for separate mailing lists, etc.

  • More than one ADDRESS BOOK possible on one computer?

I would like to have a BUSINESS and a PERSONAL address book on one computer. Is this possible? I would then open one "address book file" for all my business contacts; another for personal ones.
OR IF NOT POSSIBLE-- or maybe less confusing-- a way to sort business from personal?
    Thanks for any comments.

Create a couple of Smart Groups. Make one business
and one personal. Make sure you pick a parameter
that you know you will put in all of your business
    contacts.
I believe "Smart Groups" must be only available in Tiger-- I am running Panther but will be moving to Tiger later this month. I did create several GROUPS, but not certain about the definition of a "Smart Group". Thanks for any comments,

  • Formation of a separate address book sorted by NAME attribute

In one Ekchange organization with a single address book, there are Russian-speaking people and English-speaking users.
American counterparts, in comparison with Russian not so much. Hence there exists a naming standard in which:
Displayname - Cyrillic (Russian), but "FirstName" and "Lastname" - Latin (English) and the attribute "Name" - Latin.
In the global address book - names sorted by Displayname (Russian). US users have a problem.
How for US users (English-speaking), change the appearance of the book by default, or create an address book in which the main attribute of the sort will be the Name field or LastName?

    Hi,
You can't change the way the Address Books is sorted - It is hardcoded to use the DisplayName.

  • Pages and Address Book Possibility?

    Hi There,
I am trying to find an efficient workflow for a volunteer project I coordinate. Every month, people sign up for various jobs serving the homeless, and one of my responsibilities is to email each volunteer every week to provide information and support. I have created a template for the sign-up sheet using the tables function in Pages, and I have typed in the names of all of the volunteers for each job. What I would like to do is to create a link of some sort so that I can click a person's name in the sign-up sheet and be taken immediately to his or her contact information in Address Book. From there, I can check my notes and then email that person. Is there a way to do this?
    Thanks in advance!

    Matt
I think you may be tackling this the wrong way. Pages will merge information from Address Book into documents, but not link back the other way.
You could merge the Address Book information into a series of pages (each with one contact) in Pages, where you could keep your notes and click on email hyperlinks to call up Mail.
If you want something else, look for a PIM (Personal Information Manager) or use a Bento database.

  • Address Book possible to modify views in column

Is it possible to modify the view preference in order to allow the Prefix (a title like Dr) to come after the name, so it shows as Brown, David, Dr?
That would allow me to sort by last names and see it in an alphabetical list form which I would like.
I currently am using Now Contact and like its flexibility, but would prefer to switch over to Apple Address Book

That is not possible, but if you do not use the suffix as a field, maybe you could add that field - which would show after the name - and use it as the prefix field?
    hope this helps

  • Exchange - iPod Touch/iPhone - MobileMe- iCal/Address Book possible?

Not sure how to ask this other than to create a subject showing the flow I want.
I have an iPod Touch. I can connect to Exchange 2003 server and get my contacts and calendar from that into my iPod touch. HOWEVER, I want to get that data over into MobileMe (and from there into iCal and AddressBook).
This doesn't appear to be possible? Am I right? If not, why not?

Well, the way I do it on our Exchange network is:
    1. Use Entourage on my MacBook and setup the email / calendars with my exchange account.
    2. On the MacBook, in iCal, make a calendar called "Entourage" -- this will sync up the calendar from Entourage to iCal once you turn on the "iCal and .mac" sync option in Entourage.
    3. Then when I sync my iPhone with the MacBook, that calendar (and my others) are sync'd to the phone.
I don't use MobileMe so I can't verify if this will sync that as well.
