To the devs: New version of ITunes crashes projects in Visual Studio

So there's some issues involving the newest ITunes release:

http://forums.microsoft.com/MSDN/ShowPost.aspx?PostID=1339904&SiteID=1
Basically, programs people have created that have been working properly are now getting weird exceptions when having ITunes opening. I'd say this is more of an ITunes bug than Visual Studio.

we're a user to user troubleshooting forum, but it's possible to submit bugs to Apple using the iTunes product feedback form. here's a link through to that:

  • Itunes crashes when microsoft visual studio 2012 is installed

    Hello everyone!
Hope you all are ok ^^
As you see, I'm having a serious problem with iTunes and Microsoft Visual Studio 2012 .
Since I've installed MVS2012 , iTunes crashes when I open it.
I installed the latest version of both of them but no success.
I tried to change its Compatibility Mode but didn't work.
Tried to troubleshooting, no success either.
I was thinking that It was probably a windows 8 error, so I installed both in a windows 7
laptop and I have the same message and the same problem.
The message it shows is "iTunes has stopped working... " and it only shows a Close Program button
I thought it made this problem when both were opened, so I closed MVS2012 and run
iTunes alone, but didn't work either.
I also tried to reinstall iTunes from an earlier version to the newest version. Don't work.
But iTunes does work when it is opened once it's installed (first use), and when it's closed and re opened
    it crashes.
Could someone help me with this problem? I really appreciate it ^^
Ask me if you need more information. Thank you ^^

    Resolved.

  • How do I reset my errors when trying to sync in the new version of iTunes?

    Hey everyone,
I experienced an error a while ago when syncing my ipod to my laptop - it would say "100 items cannot be synced, refer to itunes for further info" - I figured out I could reset my warning messages by clicking on the phone symbol ... but guess what - the ( horrible ) new version of itunes, I can't find it anywhere.
Can anyone point me in the right direction, please?
    Thanks,
    Matthew

When they changed Oracle versions, did you have to create a new data source in ColdFusion Administrator?  If so, there is a setting under "Advanced Settings" to enable CLOB support, and that probably didn't get turned on.

I had my itunes account on my laptop which has since crashed.   I had to buy a new computer and iinstall the new version of itunes.  It did not pull up any of my information with music library, etc.  Does anyone know how to transfer existing music from my itunes account for my ipod to my iphone?

Some of the information below has subsequently appeared in a document by turingtest2: Recovering your iTunes library from your iPod or iOS device - https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-3991
Your i-device was not designed for unique storage of your media. It is not a backup device and media transfer was designed for you maintaining a master copy of your media on a computer which is itself properly backed up against loss. Syncing is one way, computer to device, updating the device content to the content on the computer, not updating or restoring content on a computer. The exception is iTunes Store purchased content.
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer - http://support.apple.com/kb/HT1848 - only media purchased from iTunes Store
For transferring other items from an i-device to a computer you will have to use third party commercial software. Examples (check the web for others; this is not an exhaustive listing, nor do I have any idea if they are any good):

Syncing music via iTunes is only one way: from iTunes to your iPod.  If you need to copy the music from your iPod back to your PC, see this older post from another forum member Zevoneer covering the different ways to do this.

It should be like the very first time you synced your phone with I-Tunes. It will notice you haven't synced before and just copy everything from your phone into I-Tunes. It shouldn't delete anything from the phone, at least it never has for me. It just puts a copy of everything into I-Tunes and even if you delete an app for example from your phone and you decide you want it back later, you can just go back into I-Tunes and copy it back over. Hope this helps.

  • TS1717 My itunes won't open and I get message that says "The file iTunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes." I am unsure what this means, but I have uninstalled and reinstalled the itunes, and it still will not

I receive the message: The file "iTunes library.itl"cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes. I do not know exactly what this means.  I have Windows 7 on my computer and was able access itunes until just recently.  I have tried uninstalling and reinstalling itunes multiple times and that does not work.  Sometimes I can get in when immediately after installing, but then if I close it, i cannot get back in. Now, i can't get in at all.

That message is usually a sign that you tried to roll back to an earlier build of iTunes, but occasionally I've seen it connected to a new upgrade. This technique should fix things.
    Empty/corrupt library after upgrade/crash
Hopefully it's not been too long since you last upgraded iTunes, in fact if you get an empty/incomplete library immediately after upgrading then with the following steps you shouldn't lose a thing or need to do any further housekeeping. In the Previous iTunes Libraries folder should be a number of dated iTunes Library files. Take the most recent of these and copy it into the iTunes folder. Rename iTunes Library.itl as iTunes Library (Corrupt).itl and then rename the restored file as iTunes Library.itl. Start iTunes. Should all be good, bar any recent additions to or deletions from your library.
See iTunes Folder Watch for a tool to catch up with any changes since the backup file was created.
When you get it all working make a backup!

  • I have a copy of my iTunes data and I'm looking to restore it all back into a new version of iTunes reloaded after a hard drive crash.  How do I do this?

After having a hard drive crash, I've reloaded Windows 7 and all of my applications on a new hard drive.  I have also downloaded and installed a new version of iTunes on my computer.  I now want to restore all of my iTunes tracks, videos, movies, books, podcasts and all my playlists into the new version of iTunes from a back up of all of my previous hard drive before it crashed.  I have tried importing the data but iTunes drops all kinds of data (artist names, album names, track number, etc.) and have to now manually go through all of my iTunes data (18,000 tracks) to restore the data.  The data consists of a combination of purchased tracks (approx. 6,000) and my own personal CDs copied into iTunes.  I need help badly here as I'm lost on how to proceed.  Thanks.

    Hi Toboggan,
If you are looking to restore your iTunes data from a backup, you may find the following article useful (while it is focused on moving between computers, many of the steps should also apply to your situation):

  • I get the error message itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes

    Hi,
I had my pc reformatted and win 7 64 bit installed. As I have come to put everything back on the pc I accidently installed the 32 bit version of iTunes. I realised this when certain functionality wasn't working.
So I uninstalled itunes and all the associated software, bonjour etc etc and have d/l the 64 bit version.
Now when I try to start up iTunes I get the "itunes library.itl cannot be read because it was created by a newer version of itunes" error message and the application will not load.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Cheers,
    Dave

So basically when I installed the new version of iTunes and reopened the program it was as if I started brand new. All of my playlists, songs, and podcasts no longer exsisted. Is there a way to restore everything back to normal? I still have all of the files on my comp, but re importing them wont bring back my playlists...
