To turn off advanced compression

The customer does n't have the additional license for 11g features such as advanced compression, active dataguard and in-memory cache. They are not using those features, so want to make sure that they are not risking any exposure for licensing by leaving those listed as 'true' in v$options.
Could someone please provide the steps to turn off these features.

No it is not.
Even it there was documentation Oracle support is the only authorative source for licensing terms and conditions. You should refer the customer to them for confirmation of any possible exposure.

Can you turn off folder compression in Messages on Mavericks?

Hi. I'm using Messages (iChat) version 8.0 on Mavericks. Looks like Messages now compresses folders before sending to a local network buddy. This slows down Messages a LOT. Previous versions copied the folder without compression, and was very fast.
Is there a way (perhaps using terminal commands) to turn off this new behaviour?

I have seen Messages "zip" some files, particularly those contained in Folders when using some services compared to others. (i.e on Bonjour rather than others).
I can't say that I have found a way around this.
At the same time I can't say I had noticed any noticeable delay in sending the data one way or another.

It worked for me and my "user" site (don't know how to say my site) and still having problems with my wife's. I have gone to OPTIONS → GONE TO → ADVANCE and CLICKED THE LINE → ""Warn me when websites try to redirect or reload the page…""

You should still disable this setting:
*Firefox > Options/Preferences > Advanced > General : Accessibility : [ ] "Warn me when web sites try to redirect or reload the page"
The setting in "Options > Advanced > General" is meant as an accessibility feature, as you can see by the label of that section, so that people with disabilities or people who use screen readers do not get confused and is not meant as a safety protection to stop redirecting.

HT202213 Have newest version of ITunes and a new AppleTV. ITunes File Home Sharing only shows option to turn off home sharing. No home sharing icon and Apple TV claims home sharing is not turned on. Where is this advanced menu?

How do i turn off automatic plugin check on startup... I have turned off in options/advanced, but still checks on startup

on firefox startup I get two tabs... one for google (my home page) the other for plugin check. I go to tools/advanced and turn off startup check for plugins, the restart firefox... the plugin check tabe still appears. All of my plugins are up to date!!! How do I stop this auto plugin check from taking place each time I start up firefox? This never was a problem before, just started yesterday and I can't stop it.

I started using Fire Fox to get away from this crap. I consider this forced plug in thing to be a tracking Trojan and pop up adds. It's my opinion this has become no different than I.E. or any other Micro Soft application where I loose control of how I manage my own computer applications by having things forced on me that I necessarily don't want. I plan to quit using Fire Fox until I am assured this doesn't happen any more and and feel confident my browsing and other web activity is not being monitored and tracked by Mozilla. What other data and applications can we assume they are looking at on our computers? I think if this is the direction they are now headed, other folks should do the same thing.

The songs on my playlist just keep repeating. They will not advance to the next song unless I hit next. Is there a repeat setting I can turn off? Never had this problem before today.

HT2506 Preview for Mac Slideshow -- can automatic advance be turned off?

Is there any way to stop the slide show from proceeding automatically? I'd like to be able to click to advance to the next slide at my own speed. I know you can stop the show and then proceed manually, but the toolbar graphics then appear for a second at the bottom, which is distracting.

i get about 15 minutes and then kabloohy...
i found out from Bell if i change in wifi settings/network configurastion from automatic to actually naming a thing and turning on off..it would help...

then last night it screwed up again....

Song Advancement while turned off

ive had my ipod shuffle for a few months now and letely ive noticed two probelms.
1. after playing songs turning the unit off and then turning it back on, the ipod shuffle has advanced a great number of songs. normally it would resume where i turned it off.
2.when i slide the turn off switch at the back, the ipod shuffle takes a couple of seconds to stop playing muci and turn off.
i was wondering if anyone could help me reslove these problems?

To better assist you with this issue, How long is the battery lasting? Have you recently installed any new applications? If yes, I would suggest removing any application you may have installed and test.

AirPort turns off by itself and won't turn on without restart

I noticed that for a week or so, just few days prior to upgrade to Snow Leopard my (fully updated) MacBook Pro's wireless turns off for no apparent reason. When that happenes I cannot turn it on unless I restart the computer. I tried several solutions, from checking whether this is just an incompatibility issue with one of the applications I have, and non of the ones proved to cause the problem. I erased airport preferences, reset the PRAM, took the battery out and work on direct supply, but no change in behavior.
Now, if anyone have any idea that might work I'll try some options before taking it to service center.

I'm getting this same problem on a 5 day old new MacBook pro 15". However I found the "airport" utility.

You can turn on logging by using this command
sudo /System/Library/PrivateFrameworks/Apple80211.framework/Versions/Current/Resourc es/airport debug +AllUserLand +AllDriver +AllVendor +LogFile
Then any airport events will be logged. I happened to have a quick working and then failing error log after turning it on, and it turns out that the problem happens when the Airport receives a false power down message somehow. My network stopped working at 00:13:50

What's interesting is Alarm Clock is working fine doing its normal thing, and then it gets the system will sleep message. So it sets a power event like it normally does (and this works fine usually when I close the lid and Airport comes back up) but this time I didn't close the lid.
Also the last message of 00:13:35 says "System SafeSleep" so the OS is obviously sleeping
It says that "Wake reason = EC LID0", which sounds like it thinks the Lid (screen) was lifted. And it also says "Previous Sleep Cause: 5".
I wonder what 5 means?
Does anyone else with this issue get similar logs?

Suddenly Turns Off - Why?

My Mac Mini is just over a year old. Starting today, it will suddenly turn off for no apparent reason. If I restart it, it will shut down even faster then the previous time. The bottom of the computer is hot to the touch, but I can't say if it it hotter than usual or not.
It's positioned in the same spot I've always had it.
Does this seem like a faulty power supply or an overheating issue? Something else?

If you have an Apple store in reasonable reach, then that is certainly a good place to get diagnostic help and initiate repair, but with a problem of this sort it may be rather too easy in that environment to misdiagnose because by the nature of taking the system there, it will have cooled significantly by the time the Genius gets to play with it.
It may be a relatively simple problem of dust/debris build up, which could be cleared up by using a good vacuum cleaner on the vents around the edge of the base and on the rear panel. Alternatively, if you have already had the top off this unit in the past, it might be a good time to do so again and carefully vacuum the interior, or blow it out gently with a can of compressed air to dislodge and remove any debris inside. If you have not previously opened the system but feel confident in doing so, this would not void the warranty in itself if there were any cover remaining, but if the system is over 1 year old and you have not bought AppleCare, the warranty is expired in any case.
Chances are that the problem is caused either by dust/debris clogging the air flow, or by a loose heatsink.

Need to turn off iMessage for an iPhone that no longer works

My daughter broke her iPhone and the motherboard is fried. We got her an Android as a temporary phone until she is due for an upgrade in a few months. The problem is that when we try to text her on the new Andriod, on our iPhones (and any other iPhone that tries to text her) it still sends as an iMessage. Therefore she cannot receive any texts from us unless we turn off our iMessage (which causes us not to be able to receive other iMessages of course!). We went to the Sprint store, and they told us that we would need to turn off the iCloud for her phone, since Apple is recognizing it as still on and associated with her number. I cannot figure out how to do that since we can't access the phone settings. She is traveling this week alone with other family and I really need to be able to text her! She is 12. I appreciate any help.
This is an iPhone 4, with Sprint. We have 3 other iPhones, an iPod 4 and an iPad 2 on the same Apple ID account. We don't use the Cloud storage but I think the iCloud on the phone was turned on for a few things like Calendar.

She would have had to register the phone using her Apple ID/password.
Changing her Apple ID password is the only other way to fix this if you don't have access to the phone.
You can also "try" calling AppleCare.

How to turn off numjoin and/or numgroup attributes in basic_lexer

My user has some digits embedded in subject line, such as "PQR 17234,34394,83343". Oracle interMedia Text is treating them as a big number, instead of three different words. How can I turn off the default numgroup and/or numjoin in the basic_lexer? I created my preference like this:

It likely is not responsible for poor battery performance, and you cannot simply remove it; however, you can disable any accounts that you have configured with it if you'd care to do so. This can be done in the "Mail, Contacts & Calendars" section of the system preferences.
