To Upgrade or Install New for ES2?

We currently have LiveCycle ES (v8.2 SP3)/JBOSS installed in our environment. We are looking to move to ES2.5 (v9.5) but dont know whether to upgrade the existing [ES --> ES2 + SP2] OR create a new instance of ES2 [+SP2] on our server?
Since all of our workbench processes are short lived and we do not use Rights management i've read we can do either.. Can anyone comment on why/which method is better and why?
Is a new install quicker?
Our production environment is clustered between ServerA and ServerB. Does the clustering of our prod env, change your answer?
Our intention for the prod upgrade is
Stop locators.
Stop ServerA. All transactions goto Server B.
Upgrade Server A.
Restart Server A and stop Server B. All transactions will goto Server A.
Upgrade Server B.
Restart locators.
Env will be clustered again..

There are specific advantages/disadvantages to each of the options you have. I'm listing them below and I hope that would help you make a decision.
In case you choose to upgrade, you'll be reusing a lot of stuff from your existing installation, global document storage (GDS) directory contents and database being some of these.
The benefit of upgrade is:
1) You'll NOT have to re-create your processes in LiveCycle ES2.5
2) If you have configured an LDAP directory server, it will come pre-configured
3) If you have any custom DSCs that will also be brought forward.
4) Any configuration settings added/modified in LiveCycle Administration Console will also be retained.
5) A cluster upgrade is similar to a standalone upgrade and doesn't require anything special.
Upgrade is a little lengthier than a fresh install in the terms that:
1) You will have to shutdown your existing system and take a backup of your global document storage (GDS) directory contents and the database along with few other things described in detail in upgrade documentation.
2) You can continue to use your existing processes as is, however, if you want to take advantage of the new Application Model of LiveCycle ES2.5 you MAY have to do some manual modifications to your processes.
3) Considering that your environment is a clustered one, you must bring the entire cluster down, you cannot upgrade each cluster node independently.
In case you choose to go for a fresh installation, you cannot reuse anything from your existing insallation.
The benefit of a new install is:
1) You don't have any application downtime. Once you have your new system up and running, you can just communicate it to your users to shift from older to newer server.
2) You don't have to worry about taking backups and restoring them.
3) You will create your processes directly in the new Application Model.
Few disadvantages of a fresh install would be:
1) You'll need to write your processes from scratch which should include the time of learning the new Application Model.
2) Any custom components would have to be re-deployed.
3) Any custom configurations would have to made again.

Upgrade itunes install new hard drive

Hi there.
Long long time iTunes user here. A while back I switched off automatic upgrades and have been sitting on version 9.1.1.12 for some time. I've been meaning to update it ... and now I'd like to do that and more: upgrade my C hard drive and convert to 64 bit Windows 7 (currently on 32bit Win7).
As such, my objective is to add the new C hard drive, install Windows 7 64 bit, then download & install iTunes 10.6.1 while keeping my library intact (playlists, ratings, play counts, etc).
I understand the difference between the Media folder (where the songs are) and the Music folder (where the library is). Currently my Media folder is on a separate hard drive (G-Drive) while the Music folder is on the C-Drive. My choices are to continue using the G-Drive as the Media folder location, or I can move all songs over to a network share located on Windows Home Server (where the music folder can be backed up). I understand how to change the iTunes Media folder location in the advanced menu, and how to select "Consolidate Library" to complete the copying process.
Once I select which option is best for the Media folder, here's what I am planning to do:
1. Copy of the iTunes Music folder and all subfolders (C:\Users\Master\Music\iTunes) onto a zip drive or network share
2. Install the new hard drive
3. Install Windows 7 64 bit
4. Install iTunes 10.6.1.
5. Replace the iTunes Music folder with the copy I made
6. Change the Media folder to the correct location (either G-Drive or network share on WHS)
Does that sound correct?
Once I install iTunes, should I replace the iTunes Music folder with the copy I made *before* I actually start (open and run) iTunes?
Once I start iTunes, can I simply change the default Media folder location so that it's pointed to the current location of the songs (either G-Drive or network share on WHS)?
Lastly, is it better (less complex, lower risk, etc) to simply keep my Media folder on the G-Drive, or does it matter?

Pagemaker is ancient, obsolete and unsupported. It was discontinued over 10 years ago. (Though why it is still sold is a mystery.)
If you want to run PageMaker, your best bet is to use a Win2K or WinXP PC.
Otherwise move to Indesign or look at Serif's PagePlus or Scribus.

you originally purchased an upgrade to an older acrobat version that was installed on your older computer when you installed the upgrade. when installing the upgrade on a new computer that does not have that older version installed you will be prompted for the older versions serial number.

Flash Player version 10.1.102.64 is the last version available to PPC Mac users. However, this Flash version won't work for many videos on Facebook, YouTube and other sites. Adobe's latest version, 10.2.x or later, is only for Intel Macs. Adobe will not provide a newer Flash version for PPC Macs.
The message requesting that you download Adobe Flash Player takes you to Flash Player requiring an Intel processor. Doesn't work on a PowerPC processor. I found a hack, installed it & it works with Firefox, TenFourFox & Safari.
Download this http://www.steelbin.com/FPforFBPPC.zip to your desktop, unzip it, and replace the current Flash Player plug-in which is in your main/Library/Internet Plug-Ins folder, (not the user Library). Save the old one just in case this one doesn't work.

You do not need the older version installed in order to install the upgrade version, but you do need the serial number from CS4 to prove that you qualify for using CS5. During the activation process for CS5, after you successfully enter the CS5 serial number you will be asked to select the qualifying version (CS4) from a list and to enter its serial number.
If you registered CS4 when you originally installed it then you might be able to find the serial number available in your Adobe account online in the Products section.

Upgraded to Mavericks and installed new iphoto but can't get iphoto to work

I have not been able to open my iphoto library with the current version after installing Mavericks and purchasing/installing iphoto 9.5
Here's the system info: iMac (from Dec. 2007)
2.8 GHz Core duo
4 GB SDRAM
OS X 10.9.1 (as of yesterday)
Iphoto 08 (7.1.5) lived on a network drive ( Lacie cloud drive) shared between a pc and a mac.
Upgraded to 9.5 yesterday
I used time machine backup before installing Mavericks and proceeded to try to upgrade iphoto. However, I did not make a backup of my system after this installation and before I installed the new iphoto. Does Time machine backup iphoto files located on a network drive? Does it matter that the backup was made with snow leopard and not Mavericks?
I followed instructions on a thread indicating that iphoto Library upgrader 1.1 should be used to prepare my old library prior to opening with iphoto 9.5.
When I double-clicked the upgrader it gave me this message:
Your library can open with the current version of iPhoto and does not need to be prepared with this tool.
I noticed that the iphoto icon has already changed from orange to blue.
OK- great! So I go to the freshly installed iphoto and try to open my library and get this message:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.
Your photo library will not be readable by previous versions of iPhoto after the upgrade. The upgrade process for very large libraries may take an hour or more to complete.
Alright, so I click the upgrade button and I get the beachball of death for about 15 minutes and then see a message that says:
Examining photo library- Examining with the beachball of death goes on for another 10 minutes and then iphoto just crashes and closes.
Back to searching through threads- Ah- try option + cmd while opening iphoto to rebuild the database but then get this message AGAIN:
The photo library needs to be upgraded to work with this version of iPhoto.

And so, the cycle continues....
After reading through a few other discussion I discovered that the iphoto library should have been on a drive formated as Mac OS extended (journaled)
So- I format an external harddrive as Mac OS extended (journaled) and proceed to copy the iphoto library (234 GB) onto the external harddrive and after about 30 minutes I received this message:
The operation can’t be completed because an item with the name “iPhoto Library” already exists. I click OK and everything stops and shuts down.
Is it possible to get rid of Mavericks and go back to my original iphoto 08 using the time machine backup? If so, should I then use the upgrader before installing Mavericks and the new iphoto?
At this point I have no clue how to proceed. I am trying not to panic but this process is starting to drive me a little bananas and my brain is slowly, but surely, melting away.
Please help save my sanity. Please.

The problem is the library has been damaged from sitting on the Network Drive, and frankly, returning to the old OS won't change anything, nor will downgrading iPhoto. You're going to have this issue once you try and move the Library, or update it in any way, and - even if you stick with the old version of iPhoto, you're going to start having issues just saving edits, sharing and so on.
So, you're between a rock and a hard place.
I've no idea if TM backs up material on a NAS, but I do know that it can be set to back up externald rives. I'm somewhat surprised that you don't know, as this is your back up system that you created and the easiest route out of this situation. NOw there's only one way to find out.
So, my first effort would be to try restore the Library from TM to the correctly formatted drive:

If that doesn't work or is not possible, your next effort is to try rebuild the Library to the correctly formatted drive:
Download iPhoto Library Manager and use its rebuild function. (In early versions of Library Manager it's the File -> Rebuild command. In later versions it's under the Library menu.)
This will create an entirely new library. It will then copy (or try to) your photos and all the associated metadata and versions to this new Library, and arrange it as close as it can to what you had in the damaged Library. It does this based on information it finds in the iPhoto sharing mechanism - but that means that things not shared won't be there, so no slideshows, books or calendars, for instance - but it should get all your events, albums and keywords, faces and places back.
Because this process creates an entirely new library and leaves your old one untouched, it is non-destructive, and if you're not happy with the results you can simply return to your old one.
If that doesn't work, then you're recovering the masters from the Library and starting over from scratch.

How do I install new firmware for WRT160N?

Okay, I'm having the same DNS problems that everyone else seems to be having with this router. Wireless devices work fine, but my desk PC consistently fails to connect. If one of the wireless devices is actively sending/receiving packets, my desk machine works fine. I have a WRT160N v2 and the firmware version is 2.0.02, build 11 (the notorious one). My PC is a Vista 64 bit OS.
I saw they have a new version of the firmware (2.0.03), which I have downloaded (to hdd). Can anyone explain (in step by step, simple terms) how this ignoramus can install the new firmware (assuming of course, that this new version will solve my connection problems). TIA for any information/instructions you all can provide...

Upgrading the firmware resolves many problem, so you can try it...
In the address bar type - 192.168.1.1...Leave the Username blank & in Password use admin in lower case...
Click on the 'Administration' tab- Then click on the 'Firmware Upgrade' sub tab- Here click on 'Browse' and browse the .bin firmware file and click on "Upgrade"...Wait for few seconds until it shows that "Upgrade is successful"
Now reset your router.....Press and hold the reset button for 30 seconds...Release the reset button...Unplug the power cable from your router, wait for 30 seconds and re-connect the power cable...Now re-configure your router...

Thanks so much but none of that helped. It was driving me crazy because it would back up another external drive. I just changed the name of the drive from iPhoto/iTunes Library to Media Libraries and IT WORKED!! I guess for some reason it didn't like the drive being called iPhoto or iTunes ???? I don't understand but I have tried so many solutions and exchanging things out but the name change did it????!!!

LR 6 is a new payfor upgrade, $80 in the US if you have the serial-number-licensed LR 5. If you're already using the CC version of LR+PS then it just comes along as a new app you can install.
It’ll run alongside your LR5 so you can try it out and see if it’s something you want.
The only trial is a LR-6-CC version that you can convert to a serial-number-licensed version if you buy a serial-number. I think the download in LR 5 when it notifies you of an upgrade is what you can use to try it, although I don’t have personal experience with that seeing as I have the CC version of LR+PS so the CC App provided the Install button for me.
The main issues people are having are for some system configurations performance is worse. Adobe rewrote it to use the GPU in the Develop module but some people’s video cards aren’t up to the task, and for some people even turning off the GPU, while speeding things up, doesn’t make it as fast as LR 5.
On my system it seems to work great.
