To use NFS mount as shared storage for calendar

Colocated IM deployment <<To ensure high availbility, Oracle Calendar Server is placed on Cold Failover Cluster. Cold Failover Cluster installation requires shared storage for ORACLE_HOME and oraInventory.
Q: can NFS mount be used as the shared storage? has anyone tried it? thanks

This is of course a test environment on my laptop. I WOULD NEVER do this in production or even mention this to a customer :-)
In this environment I do not care for performance but it is not slow.

My Oracle RAC will be run on VMware ESXI 5.5. So, both 2 nodes and shared storage are on VM. Don't blame for this, I dont have another choice.

That storage moves to master account. Since there are no accounts like that in Icloud, people in your family will enjoy complimentary 5 gigs from Apple and they will let you know if they need anymore. You will not be able to manage storage from windows desktop

Because there is no additional step in Oracle installation guide. There are steps for only asm disk creation.

Here are names of partitions and permissions. Partitions which have 146 GB, 438 GB, 438 GB of capacity are my storage. Two of three disks which are 438 GB were configured as RAID 5 and remaining disk was configured as RAID 0. My storage is Dell MD 3000i and connected to nodes through ethernet.

Hardware for RAC using NFS mounts

Hi,
At a recent Oracle/NetApp seminar we heard that certain RAC configuration could make use of NFS mounts to access its shared storage, leaving SCSI/Fiber/FC Switches out of the picture.
We're currently looking for a budget cluster configuration that, ideally, is not limited to 2 nodes. The NFS option looks promising, however, our NAS hardware may not be NetApp.
Has anybody used this kind of setup? For example, several cheap x86 blade servers mounting shared storage via NFS in a NAS.

NFS file servers do not require RAC certification. The NFS file server must be supported by the system and storage vendors.

Choice of shared storage for Oralce VM clustering feature

I would like to experiment the Oracle VM clustering feature over multiple OVM servers. One requirement is the shared storage which can be provided by iSCSI/FC SAN, or NFS. These types of external storage are usually very expensive. For testing purpose, what other options of shared storage can be used? Can someone share your experience?

You don't need to purchase an expensive SAN storage array for this. A regular PC running Linux or Solaris will do just fine to act as an iSCSI target or to provide NFS shares via TCP/IP. Do I have to have Shared Storage for Vm 3.0 ??

i used Oracle vm 2.2 .
where I can install vm by using Server's Storage .
Example
Server A has Vm 2.2 installed and it has 2Tb Storage .
From From Oracle Vm manager 2.2. I can create vm in Server A by using those 2Tb storage.
does this rules apply to Vm 3.0 ??
or for vm 3.0, you have to have Shared storage like Sun or something to hold vm's files ???

Dear All,
what is the best options for shared storage system for Oracle RAC 10g R2 on windows operating system.
How to share disk in windows so that it can be available in all RAC nodes in Dynamic mode.
Need help from people who have configured RAC on windows operating system and have used shared disk option.

In production, the only realistic options are to turn to certified SAN or NAS vendors.
The issue is simplel - even though many types of shared storage allows you to have multiple machines connected to the same disk, certified shared storage allows these machines to write to the same disk sector and block. Most storage solutions have built-in protection to stop that from happening.
For a small shop, I certainly recommend NetApp NAS.

Can i use it as a sharing storage over the internet ?

plz, help me to know if time capsule supported to be sharing storage with the internet likns that i can share my file on it to any frind over the internet connection .

You cannot do it from a PC. There is no applications that will make a PC access AFP files. You cannot connect to the TC with SMB due to blocking of SMB by ISP as it is insecure.
The only way to do this is replace the current router with vpn one.. and use vpn from the remote computer to the router. The TC will be connected by bridge to the router and can be accessed by SMB ie windows networking.

Hi JP,
Yes you can use g++ to build shared libraries that labview can use. You'll want to give your C++ library a C interface. This is really common practice. You can do this by simply declaring functions as 'extern "C"'. Here is a link with more information:

Use apple tv as MAIN storage for music

I want to use the apple tv to store all my mp3's but i don't want the mp3 files left on my macbook (main computer). I tried to add some files by syncing with apple tv after i had erased some off my macbook and it erased them off my apple tv as well. How do I get around this?

You don't, really. AppleTV was never intended to be a permanent storage solution for your media, as has been discussed at length in these forums.
If you really insist on doing this I suggest you get a large external drive, back up all your music, sync it to AppleTV then never sync again because anything that is not in your iTunes library will be removed from AppleTV.

Using External Hard Drive as storage for iTunes Library - Problems

I currently use an external hard drive to store my iTunes music, does anyone know why when I copy folders to iTunes library, duplicates appear - sometimes 2 or 3 copies of same song, same artist, album everything. A trud copy. Also, when you are setting up your music folder on the External Hard drive, would you copy from C: the entire iTunes tree - ie. iTunes/iTunes music/iTunes library or just have one folder called iTunes library? Also, when specifying location for finding music in preferences, again would you use entire tree of just iTunes music library.

Using an old iPod as storage for part of my iTunes Library.

I have an old 4th Gen iPod (40gb) that needs a new battery, which I plan to have repaired. I know that i can use the iPod as a hard drive, however, as my iTunes Library has grown to a huge size (pushing 63Gb), it is taking up rather more of my MacBook Pro's Hard disk space, than I would like.
My question is this; Is there a way that I can store part of my iTunes music on the iPod and the rest on the Macbook Pro? Then, when i needed the full library, I would simply plug in my iPod/Hard drive. Is this possible? and also, would it be as straight forward as plugging in the iPod and launching iTunes?

An iPod formatted for Mac it won't run natively on a PC because the Windows OS does not support the HFS Plus file system and therefore will not see the drive. There are third party helper programs to overcome that, however Macs can read Windows formatted drives so you should be able to use your old iPod as a straightforward removable drive without any problem.
