To user accounts - how to merge without loosing apps and music?

On the family Windows computer we have a couple of user profiles (correct term?). The kids each set up their own and me and the Ms. share one. I have an itunes account and there is also one on one of my childs profile. They are both tied to the same itunes/apple store account, but have different collections.
My son has an Ipod Touch and is finding that he can't sync because if he does there is a message that he will loose apps and music (or something like that). He mostly downloads via his Touch. He has lost a few songs when he tried to sync to back up.
Basically he would like to be able to sync and backup his Touch.
Any thoughts on how he can do this without loosing apps and music?

I assume you mean your itunes library ( music.etc) as your account is only a username and password.
Type "move itunes library" into the google search bar.

You can continue to share the same iTunes account ID with your daughter and set up a separate iCloud account with a different ID.
=> is this a different iCloud account for each device?  I thought iCloud account ID had to match some iTunes account ID, for which we only have one i Tunes account?
You need to set up a separate iCloud account for each person that does not want to share their iCloud data.  If you share an iCloud account with someone, any data you both sync with the shared account is merged, and you end up with each other's data on your device(s).  If, for example, you owned two devices and someone else in the family also owned two devices, you would both want your own iCloud accounts, and you would each set up your personal iCloud account on the two devices you own.  In other words, you want a separate iCloud account for each person to be used on the devices they own.  Each iCloud account has to have a separate Apple ID.  The ID does not need to be the same as the ID used for iTunes.  Many families perfer to share the same iTunes account/ID, but maintain separate iCloud accounts with different IDs to keep there data separated.

=> what ID, iTunes?  So I can have a separate iCloud account "only" ID which I also assume must be some [valid] email address?  The children currently do not have email accounts anywhere.
Yes, I was referring to the iTunes ID not needing to be the same as the ID used for iCloud.  In order to set up an Apple ID your children will need to have a valid email address that can be verified by Apple.  Apple requires this so they have a way of contacting the owner if there is a problem with the account, such as when you may need to reset the password on the account.  When you set up the ID, Apple will send a verification email to this email account and you will need to click on the verificating link in the email to complete the process.  If they don't currently have an email account you can just set one up with gmail or another free email hosting service.  They don't have to use the account but you will need it to set up the ID.

  • I bought an iphone for my daughter and was unaware that we should have a seperate appleid for each. Now we share an id and get eachothers contacts and face time calls. I recently bought another iphone and want to change ids without loosing items and music.

I recently bought another iphone and want to change ids without loosing items and music. How do I do this? The new phone is a 5.

All purchases are always going to be associated to the ID that was used to purchase/download them.
If you create an ID for your daughter you will want to check everywhere it is used to make sure you are not sharing messages and stuff. These would be iTunes/app store, iCloud, iMessages, and FaceTime.
Go thru settings and find all mention of your ID.

  • How do I transfer my apps and music to a new computer

How do I transfer my apps and music to a new computer?  I have authorized my Computer, but when I connect the ipod, it only comes up with the message box "Erase and sync.", I don't get the option to transfer my music and apps onto the Computer.  How can this be achived?  I really don't want the Computer to wipe my ipod.  Any help much appreciated.

    - Transfer iTunes purchases by:
iTunes Store: Transferring purchases from your iOS device or iPod to a computer
    - For other music you need a third-party program like one of those discussed here:
    Copy music
    - Connect the iPod to the computer and make a backup by right clicking on the iPod under Devices in iTunes and select Back Up.
    - Restore the iPod from that backup
Note that the backup that iTunes makes does not include media like app and music.

  • I changed my primary email address because I could not access my old email and now my new iphone asks me to sign in to my old account in order to backup my apps and music from my icloud

I changed my primary email address because I could not access my old email and now my new iphone asks me to sign in to my old account in order to backup my apps and music from my icloud. when I try to sign in using my password it says it is the wrong password.

If you are only updating apps, that's normal  Apps and other purchased media are permanently tied to the ID used to purchase them.  You also don't back up apps or music to iCloud, the only thing backed up to iCloud is your app data, which is part of your iCloud backup by default.
Is your phone signed into the old ID in Settings>iCloud?

  • How do i get my apps and music i've lost e erything arfter updateing and i've tried restoring.

    .

You can redownload apps at no additional cost.  See:
How to redownload purchased apps from the App Store
You only get one download of music and videos and it is up to you to back it up.  Music, videos and the apps themselves (app data is) are not part of the backup and is synced to your iPod at the end of an update.  It appears the the apps and music were not in your iTunes library and thsu would not be restored to your iPod.

  • Update iPhone 4 iOS 4.2.6 to 6.0.2 without loosing apps and info?

I have an iPhone 4 with iOS 4.2.6 purchased thru Verizon.  I am unable to update apps needed for my work unless iOS is also updated.  However I understand that updating from 4.2.6 to 6.0.2 will delete many of my apps and personal information.  What to do??

If you have sync'd your iPhone using iTunes on a computer, all your apps and data will be backed up on that computer and can be restored whenever you wish.  If you update the iOS by connecting your iPhone to the same computer, all your apps and data will be preserved on your phone.
Even if you restore your iPhone, iTunes wiill ask you if you want to back up all your data first so that it can restore it later.
So, use iTunes and follow the instructions on the screen.  Click iPhone in iTunes and the summary screen will tell you when your iPhone was last backed up.  If in doubt, press "Back Up Now"
