  • Is there a grace period for apple email address?

Hey guys I was wondering if there was a grace period for apple email address yourname@'insert apple domain name'.com once you deactivate or delete it before it can be used again?
for example with phone numbers for certain companies it takes 2yrs once the number is disconnected for it to be available to be used again.
Which leads into why i'm asking this, as the reason for this is I had an apple ID/email address that i used when working for an apple reseller a few years ago and when i left i was asked to delete it. which i did but i would like to use the yourname part of it again with @icloud.com but its saying the email address is already in use.
Now i know what you might say that someone else could be using in but thats is very unlikely as i have a very unique name plus i also know that apple in their infinite wisdom kept all address ending in @me.com and @apple.com active in the icloud change over to allow association between @me.com accounts and @icloud.com accounts and i believe the later is the cause of my fustration.
If there is no grace period is there anyway to prove that i was [email protected] and delete that record so that i can setup [email protected] as the apple ID in question are different?

The support community is currently undergoing some minor problems which can occasionally result in newer posts being rendered invisible. One method of working around this issue and revealing the hidden posts is to add a further post of one’s own.
However because it’s not possible to see what one is replying to, it’s not possible to make a valid post in terms of the question(s) being asked, but once it has been posted and the invisible posts become visible again, one can then edit the post accordingly.

  • I can't sign in...too many apple email addresses

As of right now my iphone is useless.
Too many past Apple email addresses have been assigned by Apple, which I never asked for.
Keeps asking me to change password.
    Sez my birthday is wrong.
    I cannot update my phone.
Try to call, but you want to charge me $19 to fix your mistakes.
I have a phone that is perfectly useless, cannot update apps, so why bother?
I'm so disappointed in what this company has become.

  • How do I change my iCloud ID on my iPhone which an email address that no longer exists

How do I change my iCloud ID on my iPhone which an email address that no longer exists

    Welcome to the Apple community.
This feature has been introduced to make stolen phones useless to those that have stolen them.
However it can also arise when the user has changed their Apple ID details with Apple and not made the same changes to their iCloud account/Find My Phone on their device before upgrading to iOS 7, or if you restore from a previous back up made before you changed your details.
The only solution is to change your Apple ID back to its previous state with Apple at My Apple ID, verify the changes, enter the password as requested on your device and then turn off "find my phone".
You should then change your Apple ID back to its current state, verify it once again, delete the iCloud account from your device and then log back in using your current Apple ID. Finally, turn "find my phone" back on once again.

  • How can I set up an Apple email address

    Hi,
I have an Apple account, when I first purchased the Mac Mini in 2009, my grandson set it up for me.  Now that I am getting a lot more familiar with Apple thanks to all you ladies and gentlemen who have contributed to my learning, I now wish to have an Apple email address and do away with Google, can anyone please point me in the right direction please.  I do not have ICloud on the Mac Mini, having said that, I noticed that when I purchased software from Apple or songs from Itunes, items I deleted are stored on ICloud.
As I am still running Snow Leopard, I will be upgrading to Maverick, should I wait till I do that and then set up a new Apple email address?
    Thank you
    Kind regards

  • How do I change my apple email address to my new email addres

Help how do I change my email address on my apple id

First, I did not see "Manage Account" so I used the "Manage ID" feature. I changed my Apple Email address and changed it's password. I receive a message that verified these changes. I then exited "Manage ID". To Test the new ID and Passwod, I returned to "Manage ID". As soon as Manage ID hit the screen, I saw my new email address briefly, and it was then changed to my old email address.
That is the crux of my problem: Apple uses my old ID as the default and in other areas like iCloud where I need to enter ID and PW, they give me the old ID as the defaul and they don't provide a way to change the id, only the pw.
I suspect I'm doing something wrong, but I need to have the old email address (ID) permanently removed. It's security has been compromised.
I appreciate any help you can provide.
    George

how do i change my apple email address to something different

You can create a new account, but any content that you downloaded with your existing account will remain tied to that account - so only that account will be able to authorise its content on a new computer, potentially redownload it, and download updates to its apps.

  • Why can't my Apple ID email be an Apple email address?

My Apple ID can't be an Apple email address - WHY???!!!

Because an Apple email address is associated with the Apple ID used to crate the ID. Then yo would have two Apple IDs associated with one Apple email address

  • HT201342 Are Apple email addresses @me @icloud etc good for life? Even if you go with a non-Apple mobile phone later on? Gmail is for life, so the only way someone should switch is if they are for life.

I would like to switch my main email account from @gmail.com to @me.com and @icloud.com, but only if the is some assurance of the long term ownership of these Apple email addresses. I have never seen any such statement. It is unfortunate and irresponsible that colleges and universities offer enticing email accounts that they destroy when anyone leaves or graduates.
And it is just stupid because it would cost very little to sustain them for life, would be good advertising, and likely raise alumni giving by many times more than the cost of the emails. I need to know Apple does not do that when one switches cell phone manufacturer. I mean Steve Jobs is no longer with us, what if product quality declines? And I switch to Samsun but like my Apple email address?
Any thoughts or evidence of Apple's position on this issue would be muchly appreciated.
    Thanks, Mark

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities
I understand your point of view. @mac.com addresses were created in 2005 and they're still running if you have iCloud. As you've seen with MobileMe, Apple discontinued it and deleted all the email addresses that weren't migrated to iCloud, but once you've MobileMe, you don't need an iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Mac to migrate to iCloud because you could do it with the computer you want.
Apple won't delete your mail address and, if they're going to do that, they'll advise you, but I can't predict the future

  • Is it normal to receive emails asking to verify apple email address after upgrading to new iPhone 4s

I recently upgraded my phone to an iPhone 4s. The phone works fine purchased things from iTunes, then received two emails asking to verify apple email address within a minute of each other, clinked on one link and verified my email and it told me my email was verified but I would have to go to settings to activate mobile me (don't know what that is but it not on my phone) have not clinked on second email. Is this normal.

    MobileMe is dead now.
Sounds like phishing to me I would delete them

  • HT202667 I am ditching my non-Apple email address and want to stop using it. My husband's ID is his icloud email, why can't mine be?

I don't want to run two email addresses and want to use my icloud email address for all correspondence. Itunes keeps sending me emails to my old address and it won't let me change my Apple ID to my icloud address. My husband's is using his without any issues. Is there a way round this?

I'm afraid not. While people who started with iTools or MobileMe had their @mac.com/@me.com (and now @icloud.com) address as the ID from the start, and people who open a new Apple ID and iCloud account at the same time from the iCloud preference pane can choose to make the @icloud.com address the ID, if it's the case that your ID is a non-Apple email address you can change it to another non-Apple email address but you cannot change it to your @icloud.com address.
You can of course set up forwarding from the ID address to the @icloud.com address so that you only have to look in one place. However you should be aware that if the setup means that you can only be contacted by Apple at the @icloud.com address, then if you have a problem such as a forgotten password or a corrupted account, Apple can only contact you at an address you cannot access so it's essential to have a 'rescue address'.

  • We have three Apple devices. They are all have the same name and are on the same apple ID. We would like to back up our Notes to the cloud. If we each create our own Apple email address will they create two separate Notes flies on the cloud or merge?

We have three Apple devices 2 IPhone 4's and one Ipad2. Only the Ipad2 is running the latest OS. They are all have the same name and are on the same apple ID. We would like to back up our Notes to the cloud. If we each create our own Apple email address (we don't have one yet) will they create two separate Notes flies on the Cloud or merge them?

    Welcome to the Apple Community.
Separate Apple ID's will result in separate notes. However when you first start with separate ID's unless one of you erases the notes you have, you will both start off with the same set of notes, but from then onwards each set won't sync with each other.

  • Apple email address validation

Since upgrading to iCloud, I am now regularly being told that I do not have a valid primary email address.
This pretty much happens every time I try and purchase something though iTunes or the app store.  It directs me to the account section, where I find no primary email address.  So far I have tried
    1.  Selecting the @mac.com address and hitting the make primary button.  (This updates it occasionally)
    2.  Adding a separate email address, making it primary and validating, then re adding my @mac email address and making it primary.
it works for a couple of days, then I get the warning again when I am trying to upgrade an app, buy an app, buy some music or do anything with my online account.
I am getting fairly annoyed with it now.  Is this a regular problem, or am I just 'lucky'.
What an I do to stop this happening?  All help appreciated.

    HI,
    I relented and tried it.
I could add an email or at least start the process.
On Adding it it said it was sending the email.  Initially I spelt the email wrong and it said it was sent but nothing arrived.
Once I sorted that It did send an email which had  Verify Link which then wanted me to enter my Apple ID (it was an Apple Page) and password.
That page accepted it but Messages still showed the Greyed Out email with no Enabled tick saying Waiting to Verify and Details.
This time the Details option would not let me remove the email from Messages.
Visiting the Apple ID web site and logging in showed bit the misspelt ones and the one I was trying to add which did say it was verified.
On the iPhone it did wait until I opened the screen but then I got he Pop ups.
It tried to add the one I have had an issue with for sometime (Again) I said no to Adding it.
Then the new email popped up and I said No to that as well.
On then checking the Messages Settings both had in fact been added.
I then removed the Emails from the Apple ID page and it then was removed from the iMessages account in the Mac version.

  • I have changed my apple email address and icloud is asking me to sign in under my old email then saying my password is incorrect how can i change it pls

I have changed my apple id but when i try to log into icloud etc it lists my old id therefore my password is wrong as there is no such account now, how do i change this to show my new id and get into my account

To change the iCloud ID you have to go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account, provide the password for the old ID when prompted to turn off Find My iDevice, then sign back in with the ID you wish to use.
If you don't know the password for your old ID, or if it isn't accepted, and your old ID is an earlier version of your current ID, go to https://appleid.apple.com, click Manage my Apple ID and sign in with your current iCloud ID.  Click edit next to the primary email account, change it back to your old email address and save the change.  Then edit the name of the account to change it back to your old email address.  You can now use your current password to turn off Find My iDevice on your device, even though it prompts you for the password for your old account ID. Then save any photo stream photos that you wish to keep to your camera roll.  When finished go to Settings>iCloud, tap Delete Account and choose Delete from My iDevice when prompted (your iCloud data will still be in iCloud).  Next, go back to https://appleid.apple.com and change your primary email address and iCloud ID name back to the way it was.  Now you can go to Settings>iCloud and sign in with your current iCloud ID and password.
